We are hoping to have a soccer competition in nationstates. The competition is mainly held in the "Langholm" region. if you are a member of the region you get an automatic place in the first round of the competition. if not you are put into qualifying round. It is a sort of world cup of football.
The tournament will we be initially programmed to start on January 29th at 7pm(GMT). The closing date for entries is the 22nd and squad lists have to be submitted by Jan 26th. An example of a squad sheet will be posted later. The set up of the tournament will be dependant on the amount of teams involved. These dates are subject to change if there is a lack of teams. There is no limit to the amount of teams in the competition however each nation can only enter one team.
You can select a maximum 23 players in your squad from all the world’s leagues of semi-respectable quality across all continents. Players must be selected into positional sub-categories.
Goalkeepers (GK)-> 2 or 3
Full Back (FB)-> 3 to 5
Centre Def (CD)-> 3 to 6
Centre Mid (CM)-> 3 to 6
Wingers (WM)-> 2 to 4
Strikers (ST)-> 3 to 5
If a player is selected in a false category then teams will be revised accordingly. Categories are not strict e.g. Zinedine Zidane could be a Centre Mid or a Winger, however Thierry Henry could not be a Defender or a Goalkeeper. Players have to be real.
Matches are played on a Saturday at 12noon and a Wednesday at 5pm (Times GMT London)
Team selections have to be confirmed before these times, if not the same 11 players from the previous game start. Formations are extremely flexible as long as 11 players are fielded (one goalkeeper required). There are no substitutions during matches.
