Seventh-time lucky? Not bloody likely...

Starblaydia's young'uns are off to Total n Utter Isanity once more, in their so-far vain attempts to bring back a bit of silverware. Still, we'll keep going for it, as we're trying to get back up to the dizzy heights of one of the top 2 teams in the Under-21 World. Cup. Whatever.

Coach Cal Trottier announced the roster for the sixth U21 competition for the Sarzonian Junior Stars:

ROSTER (starters in BOLD)

GOALKEEPERS:
22 Harvey Cooley (Syossett State College): Cooley set a school record with 12 clean sheets in 18 matches. At 20 years old, he looks to push Beneditto for playing time.
18 Tom Beneditto (New Daurmont Dragons - amateur): Beneditto served as the reserve goalkeeper on the last World Cup team. At 18 years old, he should be a mainstay on the national team for years to come.

DEFENDERS:
23 Henrik Bastale (Portland Timbers): A reserve on the most talented team in the SFC, he also looks to warm the bench for the U21 team until he gains experience. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 18.
28 Jonah Willard (Woodstock University): Tremendously gifted defender who can play all four positions in a back four, Willard's versatility has earned him a spot on the team at 19 years old.
34 Alain Beaumont (Syossett Scouts): The expansion Scouts signed him to a development contract despite just turning 18 years old after he graduated from high school a year early. He earned his way into the Scouts starting 11 after training camp.
9 Roger Torotello (Tyrol Tigers - minor league): The first major starter for the national team from the Tigers, this 17 year old hopes to follow in midfielder Valentin Kienzl's footsteps.
27 Josh Cefcen (Wilmington College): A distant relative of one-time Krytenian national teamer Roger Cefcen, 18 year old Josh shares little of his ancestor's offensive skills, but is an instinctive defender.
13 Ettore Salivani (no affiliation): This recent emigre from Pacitalia made the team by being a dogged defender and can play either halfback position. This 16 year old is not well-suited to play sweeper.

MIDFIELDERS
11 Chris Dunham (Stephen Stills High School, Woodstock): Surprisingly physical for a 20 year old who consistently plays with older players, he easily won the starting job as a defensive midfielder.
24 Edward Manley (Woodstock Wild): The 20 year old is a natural on the right flank of midfield. His speed gives defenses fits though he tends to overrun the ball from time to time.
20 Pedro Alomades (St. George): Seemed to be born with a football at his feet. He has ballskills that veteran SFC players envy, but could use a lot of seasoning with a minor league team or the Junior Stars. At 19 years old, may relate best to the youngest of the Junior Stars.
35 Brent Tallisman (St. George): Can play either attacking or defensive midfield for his team although he's usually asked to mark the opposing team's top playmaking midfielders. At 18 years old, he's got a huge future ahead of him.
14 Tom Richards (Rypien City College): At 20 years old, Richard has more than enough experience to star for the national team after playing a combined 50 games between his college team and a local club team but he's going to be counted on off the bench.
36 Roy Tinsley (Rypien City College): Tinsley plays defense well enough to play as a defender if needed, but has just enough ball skills to join the attack if the team is out of substitutes.

FORWARDS:
16 Roy Spencer (Endymion State University): Steps in as a starting forward after the previous two forwards graduated from the Under 21 national team. Holds the ball extremely well. At 17 years old, expected to play withdrawn forward.
15 Dave Lord (Crosby College): Lord set a record for most goals by a high school player in a single season and in a career. At 18 years old, the team is hoping that translates to goals on the Under 21 national team.
8 Louise Hamm (Woodstock Dragons): The first female player in Sarzonian national team history, Hamm stars for the first-ever women's professional football team in Sarzonia. She just turned 20.

In his first Under 21 World Cup as the full-time head coach of the Sarzonian team, Coach Cal Trottier hopes that getting a chance to mold the team to his liking will help the team improve on its round of 16 elimination from the previous World Cup.

"It was tough the last time because no one knew until the last moment that I'd be coaching the team," Trottier said. "That said, we did pretty well despite playing a different system than I wanted."

Trottier is implementing a defense-minded system in this World Cup and has spent much of the team's training camp explaining the differences. The team has an entirely new backline except for left back Henrik Bastale. The team is hoping the new system will help the team advance farther than the Junior Stars' five second round eliminations in its seven previous World Cups.

"That's is how I want us to play," Trottier said. "I want us to be a tight defensive team and make it hard to score against us."

The team expects to struggle offensively in this World Cup with only forward Roy Spencer coming back among the team's frontrunners. Spencer is more of a withdrawn forward known for his ability to hold the ball than for his goalscoring prowess, but Trottier is excited about forward Dave Lord.

"He lit Sarzonian schoolboy football on fire," Trottier said. "He's as close to a pure scorer as we have." Trottier said the team's first-ever female player, Louise Hamm should also get playing time after winning a spot on the team in training camp.

"Why not," he asked. "If she's one of the best 11 players on the team, she'll get her chance. If the other teams don't like it, that's tough."

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 86 ] Delain Falcón [ - Tivali City - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Falcon signed for Vilita Declasse side Akisa Surta midway through Vilitan Season 9, joining the club in a promotion battle. He is the first ever recognized international from Akisa Surta, And has large shoes to fill in defending Vilita's Under 21 Championship earned by National Hero Jimmy Kater. He took a further step in filling Kater's shoes by joining his former team, Stellar Division side Tivali City in Season 11.

DEFENDERS:

[ 9 ] Andrea Lamberti [ - Nusira-Lionta - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Lamberti became the youngest player to ever feature for the first team at Arcticala Inlet and has been tipped as the next Giacomo Adika after a high profile transfer to Nusira-Lionta following Vilitan Season 9. At just 17 years old, looks set to be a regular in the Vilitan starting lineup following the semi-retirement of Adika and Enzo Ahat

[ 63 ] Niccoló Mazzeo [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 1 REG: 0 )

[ 62 ] Tulio Arizmendi [ - Jhanna City (STR) - ]
------- D RLC ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 1 REG: 0 )
The unknown Defender made an impact after a late call into the Under-21's, scoring once on the way to the Under-21 World Championship

[ 68 ] Kagiso Alfieri [ - Sile Town - ]
------- D R ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

DEFENSIVE MID:

[ ] Christian Sanou [ - Jlinal Cove FC - ]
------- D DM RC ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 1 REG: 0 )
A star out of place in his lowly club side, Sanou is leading the new crop of Defensive Midfielders being trained under Vilitan legend Jurgen Ramzi. Ramzi was recruited by Jlinal Cove FC after their relegation to the Declasse Division of the Vilitan Football Pyramid, and since has introduced a wealth of Defensive Midfield talent to Vilitan head coach Helmut Vilkaus. Under-21 International Sanou has risen from absolutely nowhere under Ramzi's leadership to bypass Liverpool England based Antonis Ratuva and Corra Rangers' Lai Otieno to challenge Ramzi himself for his place in the starting lineup for World Cup 19.

[ ] Mauro Capuano [ - Jlinal Cove FC - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ ] Michele Mariano [ - Jlinal Cove FC - ]

MIDFIELDERS:

[ 51 ] Inaki Soler [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- AM RLC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 5 U21: 7 REG: 1 )
Inaki Soler may be the greatest Vilitan talent since Santo Kecker graced the Vilitan history books with the first ever game-winning Vilitan goal against Compound Interest in World Cup 13 Qualifying. Despite a lack of goals so far in his senior career, a high profile-record transfer to the ever-improving Yeaddin Owls AFC is sure to do nothing but improve his chances of keeping his place in the Vilita side. With Helmut Vilkaus announcing an emphasis on Wings in the coming years, many expect Soler to breakthrough and take his place as the first-choice Vilitan midfielder.

[ ] Antonis Siazzu [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: 3 U21: 1 REG: 0 )
Siazzu is a product of the Yeaddin Owls youth academy, moving on a fully funded loan deal to Melmondian side Titania Forests during the World Cup 19 Qualifiers. The impressive youth midfielder is one of the youngest since World Cup 13 to make a regular starting role in the Senior National Team, taking up the role during World Cup 19 Qualifiers at just 17 years of age. Working under Coach Nigel Chapman, Siazzu is apart of arguably the best midfield lineup in the entire World, taking up a central role alongside Calaesa Mitaroka, with the phenominal Inaki Soler and the always reliable Tanner Nerni on either side.

[ ] Maurizio Sala [ - Turoki Isle - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 4 REG: 0 )
The former Tivali City youth trainee transferred to Nusira Lionta from Marine Coast during Vilitan season 9 in an attempt to get regular first team action. Sala was left with just 10 starts in two seasons with Marine Coast.

[ ] Manolis Makunike [ - Lopinka - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ ] Thierry Columbo [ - Lonngeylin Coast - ]

Jeruselem out to defend U21 title in World Cup X

Defending champions Jeruselem will be up against the best of the U21 teams in World Cup X. With teams like Reijistania and Vilita seeking to take the title, Jeruselem will need to be on their best form like last year and not expect the other team to not appear during the final like last year.

Star Mid-Fielder, Adam Esposito, says "Me & the whole team can't believe we even made it! Winning will be a challenge, but I think we can do it." Reaction to the group draw.

"It'll be interesting I tell you what. Kiptro-Mary or whatever they are called are gonna have some funky results."

"Wow, I mean look at Group G man. It's the group of geath."

"Burp."

"Why not just give Rejistania a bye, I've never seen such a pansy assed group."

"Stop following me or I'll call the police!"

"Tough to call the winner, but the Insanicians should make the final 8."

There was an aura of discontent hanging over the SOFA U21 department after our 6-0 drubbing by Bedistan - it wasn't declared publicly, but I could feel it (I have a knack for these things). It was as if there was a point to prove for us, and by God, weren't we given the means to do it by.

"The draw's been done!" U21 Chief Klein bellowed. "We've got seventh seeds Starblaydia, eleventh seeds Turori and sixteenth seeds Cockbill Street, so this'll be fun. If we can get through this it'll do no end of good for us, so make sure we do...I want to go to Antigua on my holidays this year, and I'm a couple of thousand short." Klein retired to his office. The employee nearest to the said office pulled out the decibel reader.

"2000 decibels! He must be mellowing in his old age." And with that, everyone got back to work. It was a busy time for SOFA - the BoF and the U21 Championships were on at the same time, and paper traffic was as bad as on the M25 at rush hour (and that's really bad). Slip-ups were not exactly being looked kindly upon lately, and it was my job - I'm Yerzy Polkoski, by the way - to get the team sheet prepared. After Serfus had pulled out last competition, the most undesirable job of the tournament was handed to me, lucky as I am. I had just finished when Klein announced the draw, and it was with a sense of smug satisfaction that I printed the sheet out:

I gave a sigh and reached for my mug of coffee, when it was snatched from my grasp. I looked up to see newspaper guy standing over me, startling me into falling out of my chair. I got up, hoping that not too may people saw, and turned to face newspaper guy, so called for the newspaper hat he wore. He had a new addition to his inventory - a rubber duckie, which he proceeded to squeak in my face.

Squeak...squeak...squeak.

I thought it might be best to ignore him, so that's what I decided to do - bad idea...

"Four AO Nations in the same group?" Guylain N'Dumbu-Nsungu was apoplectic, and that's a hard word to spell, "Are you kidding me?"

"That's what I said, Guylain." Nikola Lazerevski, Under-21 Head Coach, was always Guy's bearer of bad news.

"And they're all good ones?"

"Yes, Gaffer," Nikola thought it best to be formal in this situation "but we're the best of the four."

"OK," The former four-goal Starblaydia striker was appeased somewhat, "are our kids any good?"

"We'll find out soon enough." Nikola said, shrugging. "Bloody Turori, and Cockbill Street (!) and South Ossetia? What is going on here?"

"I dunno, Mister Coach." Guylain shrugged himself. "Now off you go."

Nikola "Laser" Lazerevski, 11-goal hero of the 15th World Cup Qualifiers, a record still unbeaten by no other Starblaydi striker, stepped onto the stage into the flare of flashbulbs and stepped up to the mic.

"Good morning," he began, "the Starblaydia Under-21s, we now know, will be facing three Regional neighbours. This will sort the boys from the... uh... slightly younger boys..."

Crystils drawn with rivals... again

For the second consecutive Under-21 championships the Crystilakere Crystils have been drawn with old arch rivals Vilita in a tough qualfying group. The Vilitans got the best of Crystilakere last time out but the Crystils hope the momentum of a place in the World Cup 19 semi finals will be the boost that will see them take over the bragging rights in the historical series between the two nations. Vilita currently has the ultimate bragging right, a world cup finals victory from the world cup 18 group stage, but the Crystils will take any win they can get to shove in their rivals faces. Druida, another team from Atlantian Oceania has also been drawn in Group E and will be favored, along with Vilita, to advance to the next round. Former cup of harmony champions Kylaai complete the group, but the Kylaai nation are not generally known for their youth skill and will be lucky to escape this cup with a single point.

As soon as Coach Discolo got the drawing news, he knew that his team wasn't going to have an easy division. Besides having an unexperianced team... they're the only team in their division not ranked, making the climb to qualify much, much harder. "I'm still shocked!" said Coach Discolo. "I knew this would be hard, but I never thought it would be this hard! Oh well, we will have to make the best of it. I'm sure we'll at least win a match or two."

-------------------Riccardo Appolloni moved into 3rd all time on the Vilitan Under-21 goalscoring charts with his 7th, 8th and 9th career tallys in Total n Utter Insanity against Kylaai. The hattrick was not enough though as Appolloni's second half antics only leveled the scoreline after an impressive first half display by Kylaai. Kylaai fielded an extrememly attacking minded lineup and looked to score from the outset. It took them just 5 minutes to beat a shaky Delain Falcon and take the 1-0 lead. Minutes later the underdogs doubled their advantage, and by half time they had made it three. Much of the blame was placed on the Vilitan defense, with Kagiso Alfieri putting on a terrible performance, only worsened by partner Andrea Lamberti, the defender responsible for Vilita's exit from the World Cup Finals via the 1-0 loss to regional puppet craps Nova Britannicus, who played so piss-badly that he was taken off at half time and replaced by the 7th choice Defensive Midfielder. Alright, not 7th but still, Lamberti was piss.

-------------------Luckily, with the help of crafty Yeaddin Owls AFC teammate Antonis Siazzu, fresh off a loan spell to Titania Forests in Melmond, the kitties fought back and Appolloni rolled in the benefits. The first goal off his back heel set up an exciting 10 minute period, with a second goal from a header off Siazzu's corner, and the crashing 3rd from 20 yards out fired into the top corner of the net. The match died out though and Vilita will be dissapointed to take just one point from Kylaai, having to face tougher opposition in Crystilakere and Druida to advance.

"That Belizaire character is pretty good, isn't he?"

"Yes, my Lord," Nikola responded, wondering if the Minister for Sport would detect his urgency over the phoneline, "he's a true Daii player."

"I have noticed," the Lord replied, "that we failed to beat Turori. Why was this?"

"The Turorian set-pieces were of the highest quality, my Lord. We have worked on our defensive play most throughly in preparation for our next match."

Lazerevski hopped from foot to foot, anxious to get back to the dressing room to give his final instructions and team talk to the boys before their match against the Street.

"I should hope so too. Good luck, Nikola."

The phone clicked off before Nikola could reply. Bloody nobility, he thought, think they own the place. At least he didn't want me to score Seven goals like the Street and Osettia did. He stepped back into the dressing room as his players were focussing for the game ahead.

"Alright lads!" he called, "they've got Dwarves and Trolls and crap... No offence Zhorin."

"'Tis alreet, Gaffer," the stout ginger Dwarf Zhorin Tumunzahar, on the bench in place of the Tabeck youngster Sodek, replied, "I wannae beat them more than ye."

"Great." The manager turned to the substitute strikers. "Be ready to come on if I need you. You too, Syku."

"Please be calling me 'Slani', coach." You could tell the young man was part-Rejistanian by his politeness, dark skin, short stature, and crazy name.

"Great." Lazerevski replied. "Let's get out there and kick some crazyily-evolved ass! No offence, Zhorin."

"None 'ave been taken, Gaffer. Aye."

"Great."

There we were, just a-beating Cockbill Street
Singin' 'Tumunzahar's put one past you!'

Starblaydia managed to put on over on Cockbill Street for the first time since we can be bothered to remember. Raphael Delgado gave Starblaydia the lead early on as he ghosted into the far end of the penalty area to slide home the ball with a simple tap-in after a low cross had confused almost everyone in the 'Street defence.

Arnar Stonethrower hit back for Cockbill Street during the first half, but for the other three goals we had to wait a while, until the final minutes of the second half, in fact. Darius Belizaire scored his second in two games with twelve minutes to go, thinking that he may have won it. It wasn't to be, however, as Harewood FC's Richard Craven equalised just five minutes later to make it 2-2.

With one last throw of the dice, Nikola Lazerevski threw on the young Dwarf Striker Zhorin Tumunzahar, somehow contracted to the Widdrington Wolves in Nova Britannicus. Of course, in the land of his grandfather's-father's-mother's-great-great-great-grandfathers, he couldn't help but score, picking the pocket of Olivine and smashing it home past the 'keeper.

All Starblaydia needs against South Osettia is a draw, as they can't be overtaken by both Cockbill Street and Turori, who play each other next. Of course Starblaydia will be going for a big victory, but in the crazy world of Under-21s, who knows?

New system suits Junior Stars

With Coach Cal Trottier having a chance to implement his defense-first system, the Sarzonian Under 21 national team expected to be able to play smoothly even with a mostly new backline. They didn't expect two goals each from forward Roy Spencer and midfielder Pedro Almoades and they didn't expect goalkeeper Harvey Cooley, in for a suspended Tom Beneditto to face only one shot on goal en route to an easy 4-0 win to open the 10th Under 21 World Cup.

The Junior Stars got off to the best possible start with their win over Ravea, which put them atop Group H, ahead of Praying2God who beat Audioslavia 2-0.

"We didn't look like a bunch of new defenders did we," Trottier said. "We played solid defense in the back like I thought we did and we played efficient offense. I don't think it gets much better than that."

The team is still trying to put the memory of its flameout in the eighth World Cup that cost Coach Terry Mangione his job, but Trottier may have a goalkeeper controversy now that Beneditto has served his one game suspension. Trottier said defender Henrik Bastale would have served as the emergency reserve goalkeeper if Cooley were injured.

"Tom's served his suspension and he's sorry about what happened," Trottier said. He declined to explain the violation, just saying Beneditto "broke a team rule." A team source said Beneditto was caught violating his curfew.

"I don't know if you make a change now though," the source said. "Not the way our backline played."

After the game... Coach Discolo gathered everyone up in the locker room.

"Everyone... I know that we lost today. However... I think you guys did very well."

"But sir, we lost!" proclaimed Reserve Right Wing Matt Ray.

"Yeah!" yelled attacking Mid-Fielder Adam Esposito. "If we lose one more game, we're out of the Cup."

"Yes, I know." Coach Discolo said. "We all knew that we'd be facing a big challenge when we got here. But listen... 6 to 3 isn't that bad, for our first time here. All we need to do is play harder next game. Remember, even if we don't qualify, theres always next year, right? Now get dressed and let's go get something to eat."

Junior Vikings enjoy offensive surge, score 11 in lopsided win

The Fmjphoenix Junior Vikings are the 4th seeded team in the Under 21 World Cup. Everyone has seen that they Junior Vikings have a good team. But when Jason Mitchell and Larry Brown were promoted to the main squad, some thought that the Junior VIkings would not be as much as an offensive threat. Coach Flan showed the world that he can produce good scored from any position as Fmjphoenix routed The Eagles Nest U21s 11-3.

In the high scoring match, it seemed the Junior Vikings could score at will. Newly promoted starting forward Arien Vogel scored 4 goals and Bruce Chen also had a hat trick to lead the scoring threat. Vogel started the scoring with a goal at 3 minutes. Niera Primo came up at 11 minutes with a score and then two minutes later, his brother Viera Primo scored to go up 3-0. Then Chen scored a duo of goals within 6 minutes. Vogel scored again at 43 minutes and that was the end of scoring for Fmjphoenix in the first half while The Eagles Nest scored 2 during the first half to end it with the score of 6-2. But the scoring was not over at all. At the start of the second half, TEN jumped out with a quick goal at 46 minutes to bring it to 6-3. Then the Junior Vikings struck. Vogel scored his hat trick at 54 minutes to make it 7-3. 3 minutes later, Chen scored to make it 8-3. Then the other starting forward Jarod Howell score at 63 minutes for a 9-3 lead. Then it was a little quiet as the Junior Vikings took 10 minutes and just passed the ball around. AFter they all caught their breaths, Vogel jumped up, passed the ball to Juan Espinoza for a 10-3 lead. At 88 minutes, the scoring looked all over, but Vogel still had more to give. He ran the full length of the field leaving many defenders in his wake to score and put Fmjphoenix up 11-3. Final the slaughter was over and TEN left the stadium before the Junior Vikings even got off the field. After the devistation, Coach Flan was extremely proud of his teams scoring.

Defense strangles Child Labourers 2-0

Sarzonia's senior national team earned a draw and lost against Audioslavia in the most recent World Cup qualifying efforts that led to the first-ever World Cup finals berth for the Stars. But the Under 21 national team has beaten Audioslavia for the second straight time, defeating the Child Labourers 2-0 to all but clinch a spot in the knockout stages.

"We're just playing solid defensive football right now," Coach Cal Trottier said. "Our backline is really playing aggressive and we're starting to get comfortable in that system."

Louise Hamm, the first female player in Sarzonian national team history, made her debut in the 82nd minute for the Junior Stars and scored a goal in the waning moments of second half injury time to add to a Henrik Bastale goal in the 33rd minute.

"It's nice to get that out of the way," Hamm said. "Maybe people can stop talking about me being a woman and start talking about me playing football."

The Junior Stars play their final group stage match against returning footballers Praying2God. Trottier warned the team against taking them for granted.

"As soon as we get a false sense of security, we're in trouble," he said.

WARRIORS DRAWN INTO TOUGH GROUP (AGAIN)

The Praying2God Warriors were drawn into a tough group for their second appearance in the U21WC. Qualifying again appears unlikely, but as the Warriors proved in U21WC IX, anything can (and does) happen in the U21WC. The Warriors were eliminated in the 2nd round of U21WC IX 0-1 by Aquiliana. Here's the group the Warriors were drawn into:

Group H
Sarzonia (6)
Ravea
Praying2God (13)
Audioslavia (9)

Obviously, the matches against Sarzonia and Audioslavia will be very tough to pull off, and thus will make qualifying very difficult for the Warriors. The Praying2God media is not optimistic about the Warriors chances of qualifying for the 2nd round this time around.

WARRIORS SILENCE AUDIOSLAVIA

The Praying2God Warriors sports teams continue to prove the media wrong, as the U21 team upset favored Audioslavia 2-0. With the win, the Warriors basically control their own destiny for qualifying. If they can earn three points from their remaining two matches, they should qualify for the 2nd round. This was by far the most impressive performance by the previously questionably stout Warriors defense, clean sheeting a high powered offense. If the defense continues to play well, it is hard to say how far this team can go.

Siki Rej sits in front of his terminal. The Hexatux reached enormous dimensions since Teke Daran realized that he was fighting against the bad hardware. Technical progress also did not stop before Sike kali, it just reached the Rejis a bit slower than other parts of the world. The new system, the Hexatux was hosted on, was a INKREDILI-cluster. All shiny new computers running with about 20 Megahertz. A few years ago, these systems were not affordable and not in that high numbers. Also the system had to be largely rewritten, if Siki Rej would still use version numbers, he would be at least up to 4.0 at this time. Siki would have many reasons to feel well, but he did not. There was a dark shadow over his future, a, conveniently black, line on the calender with the text 'U21-roster' written on it. Siki had done so much programming collecting match stats from every league from H1SR to H7SR, also from the school league - even the first league of Communist Rejistania, the strange semi-independent rejistani hippie state. What he needed now is a proof that this all worked. Someone knocked on the door of his room. "You can come in!" Siki said but then was shocked when Teke Daran himself stepped into the dark hacker's cave, which he called his working place and his home (even in the voting register, this address was used). "Hejida Daran'he!" he said "I am nearly ready for making Hexatux create the roster."
Teke Daran, president of the ASR smiled. "I know you, Siki'xe, you always go over the top with trying to make everything perfect, so I decided to urge you a bit earlier to make Hexatux run."
"I am not ready yet!" Siki was desperate.
"You never are, I know you."
"I did not feed Hexatux the H2SAR statistics yet."
"That is okay for me... I do not expect any alte'tan rejistani to appear anyways."
"But lanja..." He did see that resistance was futile and started the roster creation.

Apprentices Roar Out...Seven-Seven
Goal Fest Against South Ossetia

What a cracker. If anyone longs away from Karela-influenced, boring World Cup matches, the Under-21 Cup is probably the place for you - and Cockbill Street and South Osettia just served up the best of attacking football seen in a fair while. Especially the first half resembled a handball match, with the players running all over the place as they won the ball. With some rather poor defending as well, the score ran up to 5-3 at half time - defender David Pomsville heading in two corners, Arnar Stonethrower, Pete Nourse and John Swytherton all writing themselves on the scoresheet for the Street even before the half-time whistle. Despite the 5-3 lead at half-time, the match had been evenly fought, and perhaps the huge lead made the Streetians complacent. Certainly, when Pete Nourse made it 6-4 with a shot from the edge of the area, most people believed in a victory. But it was not to last. A defensive collapse along with beautiful passing combinations from South Ossetia resulted in Latney, Eytchison and Zunino turning the match about from 6-4 to 6-7, and only a late goal from Rich Craven salvaged one point.

An hour or so later, newspaper guy was still standing there squeezing his rubber duck.

Squeak...squeak...squeak...

"Look, if you haven't got anything to say other than 'squeak' can you please leave me along - I've got work to do." The rubber duck was thrust in my face, and newspaper guy beckoned me to speak to the piece of shaped rubber. Feeling like an idiot, I reiterated my statement to the duck. Newspaper guy the held it to his ear and listened to what the duck had to say. Finally, I got something out of him.

"7-7, we scored seven, they scored seven, good game, but only a draw, top of the table though!@ The duck was then squeezed a rather annoying fourteen times.

Squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...s queak...squeak!

Fourteen times for fourteen goals, I suppose. I checked on my computer just to check on what the duck had said, and sure enough, South Osettia 7-7 Cockbill Street.

14' Stonethrower (Cockbill Street)
19' Zunino (South Osettia)
22' Pomsville (Cockbill Street)
28' Pomsville (Cockbill Street)

68' Latney (South Osettia)
81' Eytchison (South Osettia)
85' Zunino (South Osettia)

Okay...top of the table after matchday one, the two hardest games still to come - are we going to get through? Probably not, but hey, it's all fun, isn't it? ISN'T IT!?!

It's raining goals for U21s

Results from the U21 World Cup where Jeruselem, 2nd seed, are in Group B. Jeruselem meet newcomers K Chesney while 20th seed met Jeruselem rivals Dance 2 Revolution. No shocks, just lots of goals in this round.

Jeruselem scored outscored K Chesney 6-0 to teach them a hard lesson about playing the best. Jeruselem's hastily assembled team got the training run they needed and while a little disorganised were not threatened at all. It was so one-sided, Jeruselem decided to play the reserve keeper in the 2nd half so the main would not get bored.

Ninurta, who have never played Jeruselem before, scored 7 goals to D2R's 4 in a goalfest. While defense was not the main aspect of this game, it was entertaining.

Other group games also produced a goalfest, notibly Fmjphoenix 11 smashing The Eagles Nest 3.

Crystils lose huge on matchday 1

The Crystilakere Crystils under 21 lost embarrasingly 8-5 on matchday 1 of the Under 21 World Cup 10. The Crystils faced off against fellow Atlantian Oceania nation Druida and neither team fielded a goalkeeper amongst their starting 11. Rumor has it both coaches got drunk together the night before the match while chatting with some other Atlantian Oceania managers at a local pub, and the two agreed that it would be funny as hell to make one of the snobby 18 year old attackers play as a goalie and teach them a lesson or two. Well neither of them sobered up before the team sheets were in, and Crystilakere attacking midfielder Giovanni Quira ended up as the goalkeeper, allowing 3 goals in his first 15 minutes. It was not all shame however as the Druidan "Goalkeeper", just 17 and regularly a straight out attacker had let in 4 in the same time period, giving the Crystils the lead. Druida scored again from a 70 yard lob to tie the game. After the complaints stopped, the match resumed and a fiery incident in the penalty box resulted in a Crystilakere penalty kick. Nina Nonaaia stepped up and fired a rocket straight down the center towards the Druidan "goalkeeper". The ball, seemingly an easy stop, eluded the flailing hands of the player and smacked the Druidans forehead so hard that the impact may have caused permanent brain damage. Regardless, there was a huge imprint on the players head resembling the design of the ball, which had continue on its path into the net, making the score 5-4 in favor of Crystilakere. The Druidan was unable to continue, and was substituted, after at least 5 minutes of begging on his knees, the proper Druidan goalkeeper. With a clear advantage now, Druida struck back with 4 goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Trailing 8-5 at half time, the Crystilakere head coach finally sobered up and realized he'd been screwed. He quickly kicked Giovanni Quira in the kidney for allowing him to make such a stupid decision, then fined Alwasi Tystrup $10 by making him go to the stands and get the coach a hot dog and soda and put Alcir Barbara in place of the now injured Quira. The second half was a deadlock and despite a few good chances for each side the match ended 8-5.

Angry Mob burn Crystilakere Under 21 Manager at Stake

In scenes reminiscent of the witch burnings of last Thursday, the drunken mass of Insanician fans set upon the hotel where the Crystilakere team were staying. Most managed to be airlifted to safety, but their manager was not so lucky.

"It's a sad, sad day when losing a football match can cause a mans gruesome, gruesome death."

The Insanicians lost 1-0 in Extra Time against Crystilakere in the World Cup Semi Finals. If they had won they would have set up a match against Audioslavia. Many are wondering why the bribes weren't high enough to ensure the match of the century occurred.

Offensive surge gets mewed in draw

After an amazing 11 goals in match one, the offense only goes for 1/3rd of the goals in a match that the Junior Vikings goalkeeper Franklin Cabrillo went neuclear. Being up 4-1 with only 15 minutes left in the match, Cabrillo fell asleep and lets 3 goals go past to make it 4-4.

The Junior Vikings started off strong again, with a strike from Bruce Chen at 11 minutes. Then a strange goal occured for Fmjphoenix as Arien Vogel launched a shot up, and up it went, going a mile into the sky. The sun burned bright into the eyes of the players as they franticly searched for the ball. Mystically, the ball flashed out of nowhere and slammed on top of East Lithuania Goalkeeper Ji'Breel Weaver and slowly rolled into the goal for a 2-0 lead at 23 minutes. At 37 minutes, East Lithuania's midfielder Adam Esposito came upfield, jumped over Fmjphoenix midfielder Juan Espinoza, took a pass and fired a shot that shot past Cabrillo. In time stoppage, Viera Primo took a long shot that got past a still dazed Weaver for a 3-1 lead at the end of the first half. When the second half started up, Chen showed why he is considered one of Fmjphoenix's best football prospects when he put the moves on and rushed by two defenders and fired a shot that Weaver had no chance of getting to for a 4-1 lead at 68 minutes. It looked goof for Fmjphoenix that they were going to get a strong win. But Adem Esposito took a hard shot from close to the net that Cabrillo blocked with his face. He went down and the ball rolled in for 4-2 at 76 minutes.. Cabrillo refused to come out, saying he felt fine. He didnt play fine because 5 minutes later David Gallagher took a shot that didn'thave much on, but Cabrillo did not get to to bring it to 4-3. Then in time stoppage, Ethen Esteve got a lucky break when he started running downfield. Cabrillo looked like he was out of his daze and ready to block anything. Esteve took a long shot from close to midfield and everyone watched as they expected Cabrillo to block it without problem. Then he just toppled over as the ball sailed over him to make it 4-4. Tests later showed that Cabrillo suffered a concussion from the hit in the face and his status for the next match is uncertian.

Following the draw, Fmjphoenix still is the highest scoring team in the cup, but are not a shoe-in for qualification. They need to get at least a draw with Adam Island in order to advance for the third straight cup. Coach Flan will be getting his team pumped up to play it as hard as they can!

WARRIORS ALL BUT INTO 2ND ROUND AFTER DRAW

The Praying2God Warriors pretty much clinched a 2nd round berth in U21WC X, after drawing 0-0 with Ravea. The Warriors were playing their second string team, as the starters were suffering from a case of food poisoning that is believed to have been caused by eating international food. Praying2God authorities are looking into the situation. Regardless, the starters should be ready in time to play against #6 Sarzonia. The only way that the Warriors won't qualify for the 2nd round is if they lose to Sarzonia and Ravea beats Audioslavia and the goal differential in the two matches adds up to at least six goals. Any other scenario would put the Warriors into the 2nd round again, and with a victory over Sarzonia, they would finish atop the group.

East Lithuania Celebrates Tie with Fmjphoenix

All over the AMAZING region... all anybody could here was the screams of millions watching the Sharks play they're second U21 World Cup match, and everyone knew why... when down 4-1 with 15 minutes to play, the Sharks rallied back to tie the game.

"I can't believe it happend!" Mid-Fielder Adam Esposito said after the match, who scored 2 goals that game. "That's probrobly the best we've ever done this year!"

"I'm so happy!" said Left Wing David Gallagher, who scored 1 goal that game. "I have to admit, I was starting to lose hope... then after Ethen scored that last goal i couldn't believe it!"

Now the Sharks have a pressure situation. They need to get a win from The Eagles Nest, for Fmjphoenix to lose to Adams Island and for the points to be in their favor. It's not easy, but not impossible. All East Lithuania can do is pray for tommorrows game.

Esthical win
The Orange-Blues might disappoint and falter at the moment, but there is hope for the rejistani fans: the U21-team, also known as young Orange-Blues. The System Karela and the occasional counter-attack worked incredibly well in the match against Esth. Siki Rej or the Hexatux decided for an defensive formation, while Esth tried to attack their Karela-ish defense. It was surprising for many Rejistanis that Minka Sivil, the communist of the team played too. Sivil'he comes from Communist Rejistania, a small island near Kalisimu, which declared itself a socialist republic by its hippy and radical left-wing population. The Rejistani government granted them independence because they felt that it would be insane to fight over that small piece of land. The small communist state has its own national league of four teams and play something that can only be described as four times round robin. Despite all comments and jokes about the laughable league and the communist ideals of the Alte'tan kali player, he did his job in defense excellent (maybe because as a defender in a System Karela, 0:0 is an ideal).

The match was pretty eventless besides the 3 counter-attacks, which led to goals. Juajerauvavetasi Kalexikirasanamijyneku-Ikirasureraji nearly earned a yellow card for a foul but the referee apparently changed his mind after looking at his name. Syku Lyku, who is often nicknamed 'Sydi', scored two goals and prepared the third.

You know the name, you know the score

The young philosophers lost against the Orange-Blues, who again played very defensive. For most of the match, the match was most likely to end nil all, but Syku "Sydi" Lyku scored in the last minute. An earlier goal of Juajerauvavetasi Kalexikirasanamijyneku-Ikirasureraji was not counted for rather dubious reasons. Reporters and stadium speakers urged the ASR to announce a nickname for the seleke midfielder, but he does not like that since he thinks the possibilities are so unaesthetic. The Liverpool Englanders had the disadvantage that the team was for a long time (or maybe even now) coached by an abysmali so they were behind their possibilities. Jasne Tahi had not the advantage of a long name and became warned after a tactical foul.

5-2, 0-1, 4-4: Round Two, Here We Come!

The under-21 Philosophers, coached by former first-team manager Ralph Sirx, had gone into the last game knowing only a win would guarantee qualification; they and Lethislavania were both tied on three points going into their final group matches. The match against already-eliminated (not mathematically, but based on probability) Esth ended a score-draw, and a high one at that - eight goals scored, four at either end.

The team will now face Sarzonia in the second round, which is the farthest the team have ever progressed in recent times.

Second Round Matchups (with thoughts on key games):
Fmjphoenix-Lovisa: Fmjphoenix will win this, Lovisa being unseeded.
Ninurta-Hiiraan: Tough to call. Teams are evenly matched, and are the 20th and 19th seeds respectively. Hiiraan, probably, due to their higher seeding.
Giant Zucchini-Adam Island
Total n Utter Insanity-Jeruselem: Both ex-winners. Difficult to call, but TnUI for the home advantage.
Druida-Cockbill Street
Rejistania-Praying2God
Starblaydia-Vilita: Seventh and third seeds respectively, another close game. Starblaydia for the upset, we think.

WARRIORS BLOWN AWAY, BUT STILL ADVANCE

The Praying2God Warriors were routed by Sarzonia 0-3 yesterday, but still managed to advance to the 2nd round when Audioslavia defeated Ravea in the other match. The Warriors defense, which had seen much improvement over the previous U21WC was clearly still suffering the after-affects of the food poisoning that went through the team just before their match against Ravea. Hopefully the Warriors will get their defensive struggles straightened out in time for their next match.

WARRIORS ON DAVID SIDE OF DAVID & GOLIATH MATCH-UP

The Praying2God Warriors were drawn against the #1 team in the world in the 2nd round of U21WC X. That does not bode well for a struggling Warriors team, who has not scored since the first match of qualifying, and gave up three goals to the #6 team in the world yesterday. Odds are that the Warriors will be bounced in the 2nd round again, but will hopefully improve their ranking for the next U21WC. However, Warriors athletic teams have defied all odds before, maybe they can do it again.

We can defeat upstarts

While the Orange-Blues left out no possibility to lose against any upstart and new team, the Young Orange-Blues however showed that they can defeat nation with great plans and low rank. The Perspective Team defeated Lethislavania in a beautiful match of System Karela, well at least for Rejistani fans, it was a beautiful match, Cockbill Street fans would have been desperate about it. The Perspective Team qualified for the second round without conceding a goal. Goalkeeper Viva Haline had not much to do in this match since the System Karela gave the Fighting Greens only few chances. The highlight was when in the 39th minute the Lethislavanian defense was unprepared for a sudden attack and Syku Lyku increased the score, but also the rest of the match was interesting if you like destroying the chances of the opponent.

The result:

Well, what with us drawing our easiest game, it appeared that we were going to have to do it the hard way if we were going to finish second or higher in our group. Intelligence reports from TnUI told us that our next game was against Turori, and that they were in fine form. Prediction: don't hold your breath.

The day of the match came round quickly (it was, after all, the next day after our draw with the Streetians) and I was feeling optimistic, although that may have had something to do with the large amount of alcohol I had consumed earlier. News had spread that we were doing well in the BoF, but that wasn't my concern at the moment. My concern was making sure we didn't lose embarrasingly to Turori.

Of course, the one thing you don't need first thing in the morning on the day that could decide your future is a man wearing a newspaper hat following you whilst randomly squeezing a rubber duck. I was unlucky enough to get that honour. Newspaper guy seemed in a upbeat mood, notable by his incessant rubber duck-squeezing.

Squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...squeak...

I felt like shoving the duck down his throat, but restrained myself. It was after an hour or so of squeaking that newspaper guy finally said something.

"We've lost 3-2, you know." This was followed by a mandatory 'squeak'. This was not the news I wanted to hear, and my screams could be heard from the seventh floor (or so I was told later on). Once I had been sedated by the nice paramedic, I questioned newspaper guy on the result.

"Oh yeah, we scored first, after 12 minutes, Latney. Then Turori scored two before we got a goal on 53 minutes from Zunino. They scored again on 89 minutes. Oh well, at least we might go up the rankings a bit. Squeak." This was probably the most I had ever heard newspaper guy speak coherently, but I put that down to the sedatives before I blacked out.

Group B for Bizarre

The group games produced some strange results. Dance 2 Revolution beat Jeruselem 2-1 (AGAIN), but it drew with 20th seed Ninurta 4-4 to progress to the next round. Yes one win, one draw and one loss for Jeruselem should have been not enough. Why?

On day 2, Ninurta beat K Chesney 4-1 to drop it out of contention and put it into the 2nd round as it won twice while D2R beat Jeruselem. Day 3, D2R vs K Chesney was expected to be a walkover for D2R for it to make the next round while the top seeds in the group clashed. Guess what, K Chesney beat D2R 8-7! while Jeruselem's draw ensured it would progress.

Jeruselem meet TnUI, the 5th seed next round. Given the current results, it is impossible to guess who will win.

Now to the D2R vs K Chesney game, who said there isn't a God. While D2R beat Jeruselem, apparent Jesus did play for K Chesney ...

A final look at the table shows the top seeds had the best defense and a decent offense while D2R's 8 goal blunder in game 3 ruined it's stats.

Undefeated Against AO Opponents
Now Vilita stand in the way of the Quarter-Finals

Starblaydia's good run in Under-21 World Cup continued as they progressed to the Second Round for the sixth time in a row, seven times in eight attempts. It seems like the Group Stage is Starblaydia's playground, as they have only ever lost three times in the group stage, with three draws to their credit. This marked Starblaydia U21's twentieth victory from twenty-six Group stage games over their ninteen-year history in the Under-21 World Cup, having been Third-placed twice in this competition.

Ryan Kovac, Martin Watt and Syku Lyku-Agbayani (also known as 'Slani') showed off Starblaydia's true class and also the gulf between these two Atlantian Oceania nations.

After just half an hour, Kovac was sent through into the box by Darius Belizaire, currently having the best tournament of his short life, and the right-midfielder held his nerve to fire across the face of goal and into the net for One-Nil. Martin Watt of the Vilitan side Inland Peaks added the second after some neat passing found the defender thirty yards out from goal with time for a shot. Thankfully, the midfield is Watt's second home and he fired a peach of a shot into the South Osettian net. The eighteen year-old will certainly be back for the next championships, probably as the Captain of his country.

As Starblaydia settled down into a Two-Nil lead they began to cruise. Not well enough, however, as South Osettia gained in confidence and pushed forward. Thankfully Starblaydia were good enough to keep them at bay and keep their first clean sheet of the Tournament. The win was put totally out of reach of the Osettian's when Kiiarana City's Lyku-Agbayani netted his first ever goal, for Starblaydia or otherwise. The Eighteen Year-old Half-Starblaydi-Half-Rejistanian is certainly looking to be a good prospect for the future, as is main striker Darius Belizaire. These two look to have the makings of a good partnership, one that will surely be tested in two years time.

Now Starblaydia face Regional Rivals Vilita and are, for once, the Underdogs in these Championships. The only other time the Starblaydi and Vilitan Under-21 sides have met was in a friendly some seventeen years ago. This match produced goals by Eomer Hall, Spike Martin and Carmine Mbidzo. Now whatever happened to them? Hall is the second-highest all-time goalscorer for Starblaydia, Spike Martin captained the AOCAF4-winning team, while Mbidzo? Well, we don't have the Vilitan records for that, thanks to the VOIA.

Final Score:
Starblaydia 3 - 0 South Osettia
(Kovac 17, Watt 32, Lyku-Agbayani 78) - (None)

Carmine Mbidzo : A Player in Profile
Part One: The Dark Ages

Name: Carmine Mbidzo
Age: 24 Years
Position: Striker
Team: Marine Coast United
Hometown: Crosaibi, Vilita
Nationality: Vilitan

AO Goals: 9
U21 Goals: 17
Senior Goals: 10

----------------Carmine Mbidzo was born, son of Emzari and Ethalene Mbidzo, in Crosaibi, Vilita. The youngster soon began to show a sporting talent reminscent of that of his father, Emzari. A young boy growing up in Crosaibi, it was only natural for Carmine to join the youth system at Marine Coast United, one of only a handful of full-time football teams in Vilita at the time. About the time that Carmine turned 13 years old, the Vilitan League was formed, and Marine Coast United joined up with 13 other top teams from Vilita and Turori to form the Vilitan Stellar Division. Excited about this new level of competition, Carmine trained hard in the summer leading up to the first season of the league. However, now 14 and full of energy, Carmine was told that he would not be playing for Marine Coast in the league until he was at least 18 years old. Emzari saught the help of old friend and teammate, as well as Marine Coast United player-manager Baron O'Toole. While O'Toole admitted that Carmine was unlikely to play for Marine Coast for a few seasons, he agreed that there was too much talent to waste. O'Toole decided there was no better place to showcase young Mbidzo's talent than at the first ever Atlantian Oceania Regional Championships. O'Toole had been selected by the Vilitan FA to take a team of Vilitan nationals to Krytenia to take part in the competition. Amongst the lineup, O'Toole selected young Carmine Mbidzo.

----------------Carmine's First appearance came against Xile, where Carmine came in as a late sub and nearly scored with the last kick of the game, only to see his first ever international shot go wide. Days later the Vilitan team faced their Turorian neighbors and once again Mbidzo was on the subs bench. With just over an hour played and Vilita already well in the lead, Carmine was introduced at the hands of a player some called the future of Vilitan football, Serge DuPont. Mbidzo made an instant impact, speeding through onto a long clearance three minutes after coming on before finishing emphatically from the edge of the box for his first goal in a Jungle Cats jersey. The young substitute had an effort hit the post after a deft touch threatened to steer Aliana's cross goalward, but as Vilita poured forward Mbidzo was rewarded with his second and the Jungle Cats sixth, fellow sub Sublé Tonic crossing from the left for the striker to fire home. In the closing minutes Mbidzo was sprinting upfield at every opportunity in search of a first ever senior hat-trick, and from an Umberto Melli cross the teenager headed straight at Turori goalkeeper Milauo Slietah with the final real chance of a one-sided tie. Mbidzo's impressive performance with all of Turori watching earned him a contract with one of the top club teams in Turori, Cednia Beach AFC.

----------------In his first season with Cednia Beach, Carmine recorded 25 goals in 32 games in all competitions, breaking all related club records at just 16 years old. He led the team to the Vilitan Cup final, only to be defeated by none other than Marine Coast, a goal from friend of the family Baron O'Toole ending Cednia Beach's Cup dream. At seasons end, Mbidzo became the youngest ever recipient of the Vilitan Stellar Division top goalscorer award, and earned a call to the Vilitan National Under-21 team. While Mbidzo was unable to make an impression in his first Under-21 world championships at just 16 years of age, he continued training with the team, and netted 3 teams in Friendly matches against Starblaydia and The Latin Union. Carmine's international travels seemed to affect his play with Cednia Beach, scoring just 9 goals in his second season with the team. when the second AOCAF tournament came around, Baron O'Toole once again selected Mbidzo, but this time Carmine was a first choice player. Nominated for Senior International Stand-By, Carmine added 3 more goals to his AOCAF account, while adding 22 for Cednia Beach and Runner-Up for the most goals in the Vilitan Stellar Division. Mbidzo backed that up with an impressive 17 goals in 27 matches the following season which saw many weeks with the doctor. Carmine earned sporadic appearances on the Senior International bench, but could not break through.

----------------Vilitan National team head coach Helmut Vilkaus requested to have Mbidzo travel with the senior squad to The Eagle's Nest for Eagles Cup III, preventing Carmine from participating in O'Tooles squad for the 3rd AOCAF Cup and 5th Under-21 World Championships. The move would end up being very beneficial for Mbidzo, who scored his first Senior-Squad goals including the game winner against Creedence Clearwater, and a conscellation goal against Starblaydia in the match that saw Jean Paul Georges Ringeux ousted as Starblaydi manager. The impressive performances of Mbidzo at the National level prompted Baron O'Toole to tender an offer to Cednia Beach to regain his former youth trainee. Cednia Beach rejected the offer however, and Mbidzo went on to play another season with Cednia Beach.

----------------Young Carmine, now 20 years of age, was unsettled by the depression that came with spending another season in Turori, when his home town club were dying to reunite him with his child hood friends. Carmine turned to alcohol and drugs to ease his pains, travelling frequently incognito to Pedriana to escape the restrictions of the zero-tolerance laws in Vilita & Turori pertaining to Alcohol and Drugs. Mbidzo visited Pedriana so much that he nearly gained customary citizenship in the nation. And the worst part is, no one knew. No one knew why Riccardo Appoloni was out 3 months at a time due to phantom injuries before being forced out of the club. No one knew what virtually ended Christos Tchami's playing career, leaving Cednia Beach after two seasons. They did not know why Rejistanian Kadu Hsen could not stand to fulfill his contract at Cednia Beach, nor could Malovar Stokks. Even Turori legend Malaino Mumamba was forced out of the club he had spent his entire career playing for. No one knew why. The players would awake with bruises, gashes, niggles and naggles. Players frequently got food poisoning, and no one knew why. The only one that seemed unaffected was one Carmine Mbidzo. After holding on to their prized posession for sometime, Cednia Beach realised they had to let Carmine go. The young forward finally agreed to a deal with Marine Coast United, returning home for the first time since he was 14.

Zucchinis cruise through Group Stage

The Young Zucchinis' new front line of Shekovshen and Nery have produced a barrage of goals for the Zucchinis. Kebam, Faku, Nery, and the everpresent Gigsi were all on target in the Zucchinis' 5-1 thrashing of Lovisa, Nery hitting the back of the net twice. Irenadia proved a sterner test, but Derfindan and Shekovshen broke the deadlock in the second half to give the Zucchinis a 2-0 win. The last game of the group proved to be a blockbuster, Gigsi, Naldorino, and Ragerd netting for the Zucchinis, Gigsi scoring twice, in the scintillating 4-4 draw against The Lowland Clans. After a decent performance in the group, the onus is on the Zucchinis to perform against Adam Island in the 2nd round.

Two hat tricks help Fmjphoenix rhomp Adam Island, both teams advance to second round

Bruce Chen and Arien Vogel are showing teams that they are going starts in the future and they may be called up the the senior squad sooner than expected with the displays of scoring they have been showing this Under 21 World Cup. Chen and Vogel both scored a hat trick against a stunned, sazed, and confused Adam Island team in another lopsided victory 6-2. After this match, it gave the Junior Vikings 21 goals scored for the first round, a team high and U21WC10 high. Even though Adam Island lost, it too still advanced to the second round due to its previous other two wins.

Adam Island started the striking, playin with firce determination to be undefeated and the 1st seed from Group A with a goal on the 6th minute. Barely 4 minutes later, the same forward came through, ran circles around defender Charlie Hulo, took a pass that went through Miguel Martinez's legs, and fired a shot past fill-in goalkeeper Harlm Selam, filling in for Franklin Cabrillo who was sitting out with a concussion. After 10 minutes, it was 0-2 and Fmjphoenix was looking like it would not be getting much and possibly not advancing for the first time. Then when an Adam island defender got a yellow card for a foul on Bruce Chen, everything changed. On the ensuing penelty kick, the Junior Vikings got their first goal at 21 minutes. 5 Minutes later, with both Chen and Arien Vogel advancing on the goal, Chen reared back ready to shoot hard but faked a shot and passed to Vogel as Adam Island's goalkeeper dove towards where the ball would have been if Chen had shot. 2-2. After a few minutes of hard play by Adam Island, who was looking like a resurging force, Selam caught a shot and kicked the ball upfield. But when he kicked, all the Adam Island players were frozen, not moving.Arien Vogel didn't waste any time taking a shot from midfield that should have been easily blocked, but the stunned players of Adam Island just stood and watched the ball roll into the net. Junior Vikings up 3-2 at 31 minutes. After the goal, the team started playing normally again, and did not allow another strike in the first half, with the score ending 3-2.

The second half started off promising for Fmjphoenix, With Bruce Chen getting his second goal of the match only 2 minutes into the second half for a 4-2 lead. Clouds started forming over the field as the match went on, but the teams were determined to play. Late in the match Chen scored his third goal on a noral looking play, nothing special happened, just a strong shot at 76 minutes and a 5-2 lead. Then lightning struck, literally. A lightning bolt hit the ground and shocked all the Adam Island team players, because of the metal spikes of their clets. Suprisingly, players were 'shocked' to not only see the Fmjphoenix players stay up, but Vogel took the ball from the fallen Adam Island midfielder and lobbed a long shot off at the goal. The goalkeeper was still trying to recover from the shock, and could not recover in time as the ball bounced into the back of the net for a 6-2 lead, and another hat trick for Vogel. This would be his second of the cup and also the teams second in the match. No more theatrics struck the field as the score stayed 6-2 for the remaining 8 minutes.

Now, the Junior Vikings will take their high powered offense and try and plow through the second rounds. First up is Lovisa, second seed from Group C. While being an unranked team, Fmjphoenix does not assume an easy win, as a team must be able to play if they make it to the second round. Instead of jsut going half play, expect Coach Flan to have his team jump out quick and put as many goals onto the board as they can.

Fmjphoenix: 6
(Chen 21, 47, 76: Vogel 26, 31, 82)

Adam Island: 2

Stars stay perfect in group stage

In a Group H that featured three ranked teams, the Sarzonian Under 21 national team was the highest rated at number six in the world, but Coach Cal Trottier expected a challenging group stage being placed in the Group of Serious Injury. That expected challenge never materialized and the Junior Stars routed the Praying2God Warriors 3-0 to finish the group stage 3-0 for the first time since World Cup V.

Midfielder Brent Tallisman opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when fellow midfielder Edward Manley sprinted past the Warriors left fullback and struck a well-timed cross into the 18 yard box. Tallisman mistimed his jump but still managed to poke a header that trickled into the net for a 1-0 Junior Stars advantage.

"That was ugly, but I'll take it," Tallisman said. "I think we put 'em on their heels with that goal."

The Warriors came into the match still battling the effects of a bout of food poisoning that slowed their reactions down and the Junior Stars made them pay for that once again in the 39th minute. Forward Dave Lord stole a poorly struck clearing attempt and deked past the goalkeeper for a clinical tap in that seemed to deflate the Warriors as both teams headed to the locker rooms.

Praying2God tried desperately to come back, but they were careless in the Sarzonian end after one of only three shots on Junior Stars goalkeeper Harvey Cooley. Turorki Isle-bound defender Henrik Bastale took advantage with a counter-attacking run that led to a coast-to-coast goal that put the nail on the coffin in the 68th minute. From there, Trottier had the team play keep-away and the Junior Stars calmly celebrated a group title.

"We've played about as well as you can play in this tournament so far," Trottier said. "But our work is anything but done. Remember we lost our second round match last year when we were the favorites. We'll have to be on guard to prevent that from happening, particularly against Liverpool England since they beat us two cups ago."

Trottier was referring to the opening match of World Cup 8, when the team collapsed from their position as perennial group favorites to finish last in their group and miss qualifying for the only time in their history so far. This Junior Stars team was one of only two teams to finish with a perfect nine points (Rejistania is the other), and has the second best goal differential in the tournament behind Fmjphoenix's plus-12. But while Fmjphoenix's margin was largely built on a high-powered offense that averaged seven goals per match, the Junior Stars took a page out of the Orange-Blues playbook and didn't concede a single goal.

Liverpool England finished second in Group F with a 1-1-1 record and a plus-two goal differential. They scored as many goals as the Junior Stars did but have conceded seven goals to Sarzonia's none.

The tournament started with a goalkeeper controversy after former starter Tom Beneditto was suspended for the opening match and reserve keeper Harvey Cooley started the match against Ravea. That controversy has quickly faded from memory as he earned three straight clean sheets, a feat not even the legendary Horace Sandt accomplished in the Junior Stars' run to the finals of World Cup 6. But for Cooley to earn a spot next to Sandt in junior national team lore, he'll have to make sure the team at least wins its second round match.

"Our past has shown that the second round is a tough place for us to play," Trottier said. "You can rest assured we're not going to take this one for granted." Sarzonia is 1-4 in knockout stage openers and 3-5 in postseason overall.

'Watch out for those pesky Vilitans' my Mother always said.

I did watch out for them this time, no really, Ma, I did! I knew all their names and saw all their videos and stuff. And I was ready, I really was. But they were too good. It was like maths or something. Whatever we did, they did faster or quicker or less obviously in front of the ref!

I just don't like 'em, really. Despite lil' Darius Belizaire getting his tenth goal for Starblaydia, they just scored two more times than we did. It was horrible. Pesky Vilitans. We woud have gotten away to the final, too, I'm sure, if it wasn't for them.

Junior Stars avoid knockout punch, 3-1

With a 1-4 record in second round World Cup matches, the Sarzonian Under 21 national team was wary of a possible letdown against Liverpool England despite a perfect 3-0 run in which it didn't allow a goal and scored nine. The Junior Stars gave up a goal for the first time in the tournament, but Sarzonia had plenty of offense to offset the Philosophers' tally and won 3-1.

The Junior Stars (4-0) will face the Vilita Jungle Kitties in a quarterfinal match in their first-ever meeting against their regional rivals. Vilita enters the match as the third seed in the tournament and finished in second place in Group E at 1-1-1. Like the Philosophers, the Jungle Kitties scored nine goals and allowed seven in group play.

"We had to make sure the guys didn't take this match for granted," Coach Cal Trottier said. "We're approaching this game against the Jungle Kitties feeling like we have nothing to lose. They're expected to beat us so we're just going get out there and play our type football and hopefully we'll go from there."

The Junior Stars jumped out on top with two goals in the first 11 minutes of the match thanks to a surprise lineup change before the match, inserting Louise Hamm at forward in place of Roy Spencer. Spencer came down with a case of the flu, so Hamm started up front. Hamm scored her first goal just four minutes in after forcing a bad pass in midfield and running onto a ball from midfielder Pedro Almoades.

Forward Dave Lord made the score 2-0 when midfielder Brent Tallisman was fouled in the box with a well-placed penalty kick. The goal seemed to panic the Philosophers, who made several uncharacteristic turnovers that almost led to the third Sarzonian goal. As it was, they were lucky to go into the locker room trailing only 2-0.

The Philosophers tried to get back into the game with a goal from their top forward, but Almoades put those thoughts to rest with a clinical finish past a lunging goalkeeper.

The Junior Stars have never faced Vilita in an Under 21 match, but the senior team played three matches, going 1-2. Trottier said the team isn't worried about the previous meetings between the senior teams.

"It's a totally different ballgame," Trottier said.

Apprentices Advance
Freak Three-Goal Win Over Turori Makes It Possible

With hindsight, using an attacking tactic was probably not the best choice when thinking of the health of the few trusty fans who had, yet again, travelled to Total n Utter Insanity expecting their team to lose and then go home again happy. After the first two games, the Street were happily placed in third place, and needed somewhat of a Druida-style miracle to get through - a two-goal win against the Turori Even Smaller Jungle Kittens.

Funnily enough, the Apprentices showed a defensive spirit not seen hitherto in this championship, where they haven't conceded less than three goals so far, and actually managed a pretty decent effort at the back - coupled with fierce goal-scoring abilities. John Swytherton again showed his potential, the reason why he was picked for the U21 squad as far back as two cups ago, and had two assists and two goals as he became the Man of the Match. Another good candidate for that was Peter Nourse, who contributed with two early goals that demoralised the Turori players.

Still, it was a team effort, as the manager was keen to stress after the match. Cockbill Street got somewhat of the easiest draw in the second round, playing a suicidally attacking Druida (who has a goal difference of 17-15 in three games), and hopefully another Apprentice miracle is on the cards.

Attacking Druida Run Seven Past Obsidian
Trefors Knock Out Apprentices

Despite a hearty attempt at it, the Cockbill Street Apprentices yet again faced a too early exit from the Under-21 World Cup in Total n Utter Insanity, and yet again at the hands of Druida. After the debacle of two years ago, when all teams ended on four points and the Street was the only one of the fourteen top seeds to be knocked out - on scored goals at that - these lads were more than willing to get their revenge, particularly players such as Arnar Stonethrower, David Pomsville, Olivine and John Swytherton who were all in the last cup fighting against the Rainbows.

This time, the Apprentices had managed to come through what had been described as a "Group of Death", fighting Starblaydia, Turori and South Ossetia, but what they came up against in this match was something different entirely. The Druidan side paid no heed to defence - rather similar to South Ossetia in that respect - following the old maxim that "it doesn't matter how many we concede, what matters is how many we score" (editors' apology to any Rejistanians who may be disgusted by these words).

As a result, the match was fast-paced, entertaining, and a nightmare for the Total n Utter Insanity referee as there was no scoreboard in the stadium. With Insanicians not being able to count very well past three, there is a rumour going on among Streetian fans that the score after normal time was actually 6-6 - as they seemed to remember Swytherton netting two free kicks, Nourse scoring two, Olivine heading in a corner and Spearthrower managing to score off the keeper's groin. And they only remembered six Trefors celebrating goals in the game.

However, the result stands at 7-5, although this journalist can not accurately recall the seventh goal for Druida (editors note: possibly because he was so drunk on Insanician beer or sat in the fiercely patriotic part of the Streetian crowd). The Apprentices go home again, though maybe with a top-eight rank after this championship, and perhaps - just perhaps - they can avoid defensive collapses.

Champions out, TnUI now the favourites

Jeruselem met TnUI in the 2nd round of U21 World Cup X. It was 2nd vs 5th seed, but seeding mean nothing when the top 5 teams clash. Yes, it was a normal score and not something like 9-5. Jeruselem lost to TnUi 2-1 in a classic game worthy of a final, but it was Jeruselem's final game for this World Cup.

The loss means teams like Reijistania, TnUI, Starblaydia and Vilita are now the favourites with last years champions knocked out.

*As ever, we are in the office of President Margaret Smith, where he is talking with an unnamed helper.*

Unnamed helper: "Sir, did you hear that the Under-21 Cup was on again?"

President Smith: "Um, well, no. Where?"

Unnamed helper: "Total n Utter Insanity. Where they always play it, dumbass!"

President Smith: "Oh. Oh yeah. Well, er... are we in it?"

Unnamed helper: "Yes sir."

President Smith: "And how far through the tournament are we?"

Unnamed helper: "Quarter finals next, sir."

President Smith: "And we're still in it?"

Unnamed helper: "Yes, sir."

President Smith: "You mean we didn't mess up in the group stage?"

Unnamed helper: "Cruised through it with a game to spare, sir. Put eight past Crystilakere, three past Vilita... hell, we even put six past Kylaai when we weren't even trying. Though they did put eight past us."

President Smith: "Then we got through the second round too?"

Unnamed helper: "7-5 against Cockbill Street. I hear that there was a bit of controversy over that one. Something to do with the Insanician scorekeeper running out of fingers, I think."

President Smith: "Well, I think we should give Greaves a pay rise! That's two cups in a row he's done well in!"

Unnamed helper: "Indeed it is, sir. I shall get on the phone right away."

President Smith: "Wait... what if he goes even further?"

Unnamed helper: "Sir, the spectrums will play Praying 2 God or Rejistania next. Going further seems a bit unlikely..."

I woke up the next day with a thumping headache (apparently somebody had smashed a vase over my head the day before). When I got to work, people were eyeing me up, as if to say 'sorry I hit you over the head, but you were threatening me with a stapler'. As I sat down, the phone rang, and I knew it could only be one person.

"Yerzy, this is Klein. What the hell happened yesterday?"

"I'm not sure, sir. I don't really remember much."

"Oh, well I'll tell you, shall I? You attacked a member of staff and you had to be restrained from poking several people's eyes out with a stapler."

"What?"

"You starting to remember now? I'll have you know that thanks to your antics, we lost 3-0 to Starblaydia today."

"Well, no offence, sir, but I don't think our loss was down to me going mad."

"Oh really? Well perhaps you'd like to go and say that to SOFA Chief Mclauglin. He's absolutely fuming with you, and the only thing keeping him from going into a frenzy is our good performance in the BoF. Yerzy, you've gone too far this time - I'm suspending you pending further investigation...WITHOUT PAY!'

The phone went dead before I could reply. People had guessed what the conversation was about, and were doing a very bad job of whispering behind my back. It was funny how I kept getting blamed for our defeats - after all, I wasn't out there kicking a ball for ninety minutes. Nevertheless, you had to accept the blame unless you wanted to find yourself, jobless, homeless and with no future prospects whatsoever. This really was a thankless job.

Just then the phone rang again. I expected it to be Klein, reiterating his punishment, but it wasn't.

"Yerzy? This is a friend. I've got some information on Klein that I thought you might like to know..."

As I listened to what my 'friend' had to say, my eyes lit up with excitement. Perhaps my life wasn't over just yet...and if it was, I was taking Klein down with me...

'Kitties' declawed in 3-0 loss

Unlike the senior national team, the Sarzonian Under 21 selection hasn't had a chance to create a history with region mates Vilita. While the senior Stars faced off against the Jungle Cats three times, and the four time SFC champions Woodstock Wild faced Vilita's Strike FC three times in recent Champions League competitions, the Junior Stars were meeting the Jungle Kitties for the first time.

The Junior Stars might have left a big impression on the Kitties, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before some fans even found their way to the stadium and holding on to post goalkeeper Harvey Cooley's fourth clean sheet in five matches. He has allowed one goal in that span while the Junior Stars have put 15 goals behind opposition goalkeepers.

"This was just us playing our brand of football," Coach Cal Trottier said. "We didn't worry about people saying we didn't have a chance. The only people who thought we'd get this are are in that locker room over there," he said, pointing in the direction of the Junior Stars' locker room.

Sarzonia (5-0) may belie that statement with its dominance of its opponents so far. The only match in which the team failed to score at least three goals was against Audioslavia in a 2-0 win, and the Stars easily dispatched the two ranked teams in its group and handled Liverpool England with relative ease. The team is looking forward to a possible encounter with Rejistania, which would be the third time the teams have met in Under 21 competition.

"If that's who we're facing, we'll have quite a struggle," Cooley said. "Our new system is very similar to their System Karela and we've practiced against that since training camp so if anyone should know how to attack it, I think we would."

The other team the Stars could face in the semifinals is 15th ranked Druida, which just recently absorbed their colonial masters [OOC: Is that correct NEWI?] NEWI Cefn Druids. Trottier dismissed notions of earning revenge for the senior team's loss to NEWI Cefn Druids in the AOCAF V final match.

"They're two vastly different teams in two vastly different tournaments. Revenge is a silly thing to even think about."

After the turmoil that began with the firing of Coach Terry Mangione and included a botched coaching search that forced the Incorporated Football Federation to name Trottier the team's interim coach going into World Cup 9, the team seems to have put that past behind them. One thing is certain. They'll have two more games to find out.

With Relekekansa against God

The Perspective Team of Rejistania defeated the Praying2God U21 after a good match of System Karela 1:0. Coach and Hexatux-administrator Siki Rej commented after the match: "There were all these crazy scores in the other matches as if suddenly everyone around there forgot how to play defensively, maybe something in the water... The Lasane however showed that a good technical match is far better than this 12:11 matches!" Hexatux commented by a "S1mvs~v" which was nothing, Siki Rej wanted to explain, he simply said it was an abbreviation of a status code.

The match was fast-paced and saw a fiercely attacking Praying2God team being stopped by the Rejistani pressing. The match saw a very beautiful soccer: One reporter from the International section of the C-Mail and three Progressans, who came only to see the stadium ran away in horror. They however missed the goal scene in the 87th minute: a free kick was awarded to the Orange-Blues after a foul from one Christian player. Sivil'he and Kalexikirasanamijyneku-Ikirasureraji'he were in good position. The seleke feinted running in an attempt to shot but turned and let the commie score. Maybe the guns, the Insanican policemen pointed at him to hinder him from messing up the scoreboard software with the long name, so Sivil'he took it. The ball was caught by the goalie but slipped through his fingers and went into the goal. Sivil'he seemed to be utterly confused by the starting celebration, apparently he assumed communist equality would be better. The next opponent of the Perspective Team is Druida

TnUI crusade to Quarter Finals

The Sevens, unfazed by the media storm that was been going on since the untimely end of the Crystilakere Manager, managed a display of class against the defending champions Jeruselem. The match could have gone either way, with both sides missing a few golden opportunities. The deadlock and missed chances ended half way through the second half when a spate of goals suddenly occurred. Defensive lapses at both sides of the pitch resulted in a short lived lead for the Sevens. They had to wait till the 89th minute for the second and final lead. Sevens finally live up to nickname

The Sevens were blasting on all cylinders as they came out to show the giant killers what Under 21 Football is all about, scoring goals by the bucket load. Adam Island had upset the Young Zucchinis in the second round and were looking pretty dangerous. Manager Patrick O'Kieve gambled on a 3-4-3 formation to allow massive firepower, while still being able to play the offside trap. This paid off big time as the Sevens went up 1-0, then 2 and 3, all with no reply. Adam Island racked up the offsides while they weren't defending. In the second half the Islanders tried desperately to score and got their just desserts when they pegged the score back to 3-3. O'Kieve decided to throw all caution to the wind as the formation changed to a 2-4-4. 4 goals later and the match was securely won, well as securely as it can be with 2 defenders. TnUI face Lovisa in the Semi Final, with Sarzonia playing Rejistania in the other Semi.

"Laser" Resigns in Fury
Under-21s require new manager for U21WC11

Nikola "Laser" Lazerevski resigned his post as Starblaydi Under-21s Coach on the basis of 'the complete lack of any Penningworth United player remotely good enough to play in the near future". Lazerevski, who scored 15 times for Starblaydia, a record at the time, during a life-long dedication to the Pennies, also said that the fast-tracking of young Starblaydis to Vilitan and even Nova Britannican sides just wasn't an acceptable situtation for him to oversee.

"I've got a core of young players in mind for the next Under-21 World Cup," said Lazerevski, "and they're all based outside Starblaydia. Are we not teaching patriotism to our youngsters any more?"

Martin Watt, Utility Defender/Midfielder, Inland Peaks (Vilitan Stellar Division)
Nelson de Montford, Left-Midfielder, Montepool Waves (Nova Britannican club in the Starblaydi Beta Division)
Gbenga D.J. Ogunniya, Utility Midfielder, Kiiarana City (Vilitan Declasse Division)
Syku "Slani" Lyku-Agbayani, Forward, Kiiarana City (Vilitan Declasse Division)

The Starblaydi Football Association are now seeking a replacement to Lazerevski, though there's no-one on the horizon that we can think of.

I Want Dwarves Job: Cannon

World Cup winner Caddy Cannon has expressed an interest in returning to management. Cannon, 63, is reportedly looking at the Starblaydia under 21 post. Cannon, whose last major managerial job was almost 10 years ago with the Liverpool England national team, and who has worked as a fitness coach at Schimpol FC, his former playing club since, told the press that he had already submitted an application to the Starblaydi FA.

Carmine Mbidzo : A Player in Profile
Part Two: The Golden Years

Name: Carmine Mbidzo
Age: 24 Years
Position: Striker
Team: Marine Coast United
Hometown: Crosaibi, Vilita
Nationality: Vilitan

AO Goals: 9
U21 Goals: 17
Senior Goals: 10

----------------Carmine was invited back to the Vilitan Under-21 side for the Seventh Under-21 World Championships in hopes by Marine Coast United head coach O'Toole that the competition would clear his head and get him back on track. After missing the World Cup 17 Finals and AOCAF IV, Carmine was at a real lack of competitive game and O'Toole felt that being an elder on the squad would help give Carmine a sense of self before returning home and competiting for championships with Marine Coast. O'Toole's plan worked Marvelously, with Mbidzo scoring 9 times in just 5 games, including a hattrick against hosts Total n Utter Insanity. Only twice in the tournament did Mbidzo not score, first in the 1-0 loss to Esth and in the Final against Bedistan, when Mauro Baraza netted the winner for Vilita in extra time, giving the Jungle Kitties their first ever Under-21 Championship.

----------------Mbidzo was named player of the tournament by the Vilita National, and his troubled seasons at Cednia Beach seemed long in the past when he returned home to Crosaibi. Taking a role alongside Vilitan legend Callum Banda, Mbidzo rebounded with 15 goals and earned himself a place in the Vilitan World Cup 18 Qualifying lineup. Carmine scored his first career World Cup competitive goal against One Red Dot. Despite losing the match, it was the start of something Big for vilita. Mbidzo's goal in the following match against Kylaai gave Vilita a 2-1 Victory, the first of a run of 30 games unbeaten for Vilita in World Cup competition. Mbidzo would score once more against One Red Dot in the return fixture, before netting 2 goals against Artoonia in the World Cup Finals, capping off a very impressive World Cup 18 breakthrough.

----------------Carmine was a key performer in Vilita's Eagles Cup IV campaign, leading the team with 3 goals in the competition. However, a Torn Groin Muscle put a damper on his league performances, scoring just 10 goals. Carmine returned to action full strength in AOCAF V, once again leading the team in scoring with 4 goals in Vilita's failed AOCAF effort. Mbidzo was able to take that momentum and produce a fine run in the league with 16 goals in 25 games, leading the team and once again being Runner up in the Stellar Division goalscoring charts. Carmine's appearances in World Cup 19 were limited, and perhaps Vilita missed his presence, despite achieving an unbeaten record throughout qualifying with 12 consecutive victories, the Jungle Cats failed to advance from the Finals Group Stage after an embarrassing defeat to Nova Britannicus in which the Vilitan strikers were more than abysmal.

----------------At 24 years of age, Carmine is now rumored to be dating the 18 year old daughter of Simeone Di Bradini, but the relationship has been kept underwraps for unknown reasons.

Former Sarzonian Under 21 Coach Terry Mangione has announced that he will apply for the Starblaydi Under 21 National Team. He brings experience in five cups, advancing to the knockout stages in four of the campaigns and appearing in one World Cup final.

He favors an attacking style of football, though he often asks his team to pay more attention to defense once the knockout stages begin. He was very popular among his players and fans in Sarzonia, and would be eager to earn revenge against the Junior Stars.

After lose, Falon Flan resigns, leaves Fmjphoenix U21s in bind

After a first round high of 21 goals scored to 9 allowed, the Fmjphoenix U21 were outplayed and abysmal against Lovisa in a 3-6 loss. There was not much talking as the team went through the locker room and people were dejected. Then Falon Flan hit them hard. There was a press conference afterwords where he announced he is resigning from head coach and retireing from sports in general. The move seemed shocking to all people as Flan had never been anything but upbeat about being a coach after he stopped playing football close to two years ago. He did not explain why he was retiring, but said he just felt it was time for him to move on while he still had years of health left.

This leaves the U21 squad in a bind. They no longer have a head coach with good expierence. They are goingto be looking outside of the nation for possible coaching replacement as a chance of just looking within the FAF. Any coaches from other nations are encouraged to reach the FAF with applications an interviews will follow.

Two past Druida

Maybe it was something in the water that caused other teams to go mad and attack like crazy and cause scores like 12:11. If it was, the Perspective Team drank some Insanican water since they won twice as high as normal. The Perspective Team played in a 5-4-1 which was no 9-0-1 in disguise and after taking the lead, they still attacked occasionally. The Hexatux Control Device (HCD), Siki Rej was wearing, blinked and bleeped furiously. Siki shouted at the team and went mad as they continued 'suicidal hetaki' (quote Rej) after being ahead even 2:0. Syku "Sydi" Lyku scored past the Trefor in goal (the names of the Rainbows are unavailable at the moment). At half time, Sydi was substituted by Hsen Aijia, who also increased the score after a corner kick of Juajerauvavetasi "Sa~omih" Kalexikirasanamijyneku-Ikirasureraji. The Druids nearly equlized in the 48th minute when Trefor found a hole in the defense. Even though Syku Lanit could direct the ball over the bar, the fans booed as if the Bright Orange-Blues just conceded the 0:10. the match in the semifinal will be against Sarzonia.

Eels back Unranked Lovisa for Title

The Turori FA has sent a team of experts to Total n Utter Insanity to help train the Lovisan Under 21 team before it's final showdown with Rejistania. The Turorians felt that since one poorly supported team has already won the World Cup, they may as well help make it a perfect sweep by throwing their support behind the worst participating entrants in recent times, Lovisa. We do not know if Lovisa has ever made the final of any competition before, but it was only a matter of time before they came in with a good chance of winning a major competition, and an 8-7 scoreline is expected once again, this time in regular play, not extra time.

Who will be new champions? Lovisa or Rejistania

Lovisa shocked TnUI 8-7 in the semi-final of the U21 World Cup X to earn a place in the final against the mighty Rejistania who stopped Sarzonia 1-0. On form, you'd have to back Rejistania but Lovisa have many victims including TnUI of course.

We are not going to make a prediction after the ridiculous scores like 8-7 that have been happening of late. However, most would back Rejistania.

-------------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties could not hold sound against the new resilliancy that is the unified lands of Druida in their Under 21 Group stage matchup. The Loss, a 2-3 decision, nearly cost Vilita their place in the second round. If it were not for a commanding 4-1 thrashin of World Cup Champion and regional rivals Crystilakere, Vilita may have made a first round exit for the first time since Under 21 World Cup IV. It was in that cup that Vilita tied Raptor Claw at the bottom of the group with one point. Julei Adjei, the player who recently had his name legally changed to Ippolit, but for some reason is still being referred to as Julei, put Vilita in a 1-0 lead. But down 3-1 at the half, Inaki Soler's second half beauty was no more than an extra. Andrea Lamberti sucked, as usual.

-------------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties Under 21 team unsettled the now-World Champions from Crystilakere just before their big World Cup Final victory over Audioslavia. Most Crystilakere people have probably forgotten about the match by now, but a stellar performance from Delain Falcon kept the Crystilakere team at bay, and goals from Riccardo Appolloni, Antonis Siazzu and Manolis Makunike thrusted the Vilita Jungle Kitties into the second round by the skin of their teeth, scraping by Crystilakere and Kylaai to earn a second round clash with another regional rival, Starblaydia. Manolis Makunike's first career goal came in the 89th minute of the match as Crystilakere appeared to give up and the Lopinka player converted past Alwasi Tystrup with a long volley that Tystrup reacted slowly and never got a hand on.

Andrea Lamberti continued to be poor, and it was Makunike who was introduced when he was removed at half time.

Syku L Superstar

Syku Lyku secured the win against Sarzonia, which made the bright Orange-Blues advance into the final. Again the defense stood and the rejistanis did not concede a goal. If there were tables in the knockout stage, the GA section would still consist of a big round zero. After the 'Hetaki Tekne' (world-class attack) from the last match, the Orange-Blues now played decent System Karela soccer again. The bright Orange-Blues were in their half for nearly the entire match. Sarzonia was totally shocked by one counter attack in the 84th minute, so shocked that Syku Lyku had no problems scoring past Harvey Cooley, who could not react at all.

The bright Orange-Blues will now meet Lovisa in the final and of course every fan wonders whether they can keep a clean sheet in the final match too.

Junior Stars take consolation prize, 4-0

Sarzonia's Under 21 national team may not have been playing in the match it wanted to as they got set to face host nation Total 'N Utter Insanity in the third place match of the 10th World Cup, but the team decided before walking out to the pitch that they wanted to end on a high note. They got that accomplished and more as the Junior Stars won handily, 4-0, sending the overwhelmingly pro-TnUI crowd home disappointed.

"It was a nice way to end a tournament but it didn't end up the way we wanted it to," Coach Cal Trottier said. He tightened his grip on the head coaching job after some pundits questioned the way he was essentially given the job without a full search and interview process. The team went 6-1 during this World Cup, with the only loss coming to third-ranked Rejistania in the semi-finals.

Forward Dave Lord started things off with a bang, scoring the first goal just six minutes in. He outhustled a TnUI defender for a loose ball just outside the 18 yard box and fired a shot that caught the goalkeeper by surprise. He could only look in stunned horror to see the goal slicing into the net. Little did he know that the party was only beginning.

Lord scored twice before reserve forward Louise Hamm scored her second World Cup goal in the 71st minute to put the nail in the coffin in the minds of most reporters in the press box. The Insanican supporters must have agreed. They started to file out en masse after Hamm's score, and only 8,437 were left out of a near-sellout by the final whistle. Of those, about 60 percent of the remaining supporters wore Sarzonian navy and white.

For the Junior Stars, Trottier said the team would have to replace its midfield and pick up more depth at forward with many of the midfielders turning 21 before the next World Cup, but he said he was very pleased with the way the team implemented its new defensive-oriented system. The team only allowed two goals in its seven matches, one each to Liverpool England and Rejistania. Goalkeeper Harvey Cooley worked to a 0.29 goals against average in the tournament.

"We played that system like it was the one we were supposed to have played all along," Trottier said. "If we can maintain focus, we should be fine in the years to come."

Well lovisian teams, all matches lose

The Rejistanian U21, also known as the Bright Orange-Blues, also known as Perspective Team is now also known as current champions. Many people expected the Hexatux to be the critical component, since it already failed once in a final of the U21. But either Hexatux 2.0 was better than its predecessor or the Lovisa had no idea how the first one was fooled. After the match, celebrations in entire Rejistani erupted like after semifinal wins of the 'real' Orange-Blues.

The story was not as lucky for a reporter from Cockbill Street. Ian Vaughan committed ritual suicide after the 70 minutes of beautiful System Karela soccer. We are not able to figure out what exactly were his motives. His widow told us, that Vaughan'he was a great fan of attacking soccer, that he wanted to report from the U21 to reports about dozens of goals (per match, of course) and see teams without a defense to speak of. Instead, he had to report about the rather tactical matches, not only of the Bright Orange-Blues, but also of Ravea and Starblaydia. Tactical in this case means defensive or hyper-defensive. In the 67th minute, the Rejistanis went ahead against Lovisa, after an attempt of a counter-attack and a fowllowing free kick. The reporter rooted for the more attacking teams in all the games and had to see them lose. To him, the lead of the 'defensive extremists' from The Island was a sign that the future of soccer was the System Karela. He could not live with the vision of all matches in major competitions ending 0:0 AET. He used a tanto-knife, which conveniently the stadium security did not confiscate and committed ritual seppuku. The insanican hospital, to which he was eventually brought, could do nothing for him anymore. The thing, which would have bugged him most would have been that he missed the 2:0 by Juajerauvavetasi Kalexikirasanamijyneku-Ikirasureraji.

Siki Rej commented: "Well, soccer is not just a question of life and death, it is much more serious... even though I do not see a reason to die for an opinion on tactics." When he was asked to imagine the Rejistani national team to play as attacking as the Streetian U21, he turned away in horror.

Duderson ushers to the Aquiliana Manager and Son to escape.

Duderson: "If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around does anyone care?"

Lucy: "Damn tree huggers. Always have something to say, if they love the trees so much they should marry them...and they do in TnUI."

Duderson: "If...err...ohh...wah...I feel dizzy."

Lucy: "Where did the Aquiliana Manager go?"

Duderson: "Where am I?"
