Several times, I've treid to do a thread about street racing in Imitora. The first time, it died after a few pages, same with the second. The third time, enough nations jumped in that posted rather regularly. However, it was started about a month before the forums change over (which I think was only supposed to be a week long, ended up being a month or two, for me at least), and by the time we had gotten them back, the other main poster had disapeared.

This is my last real attempt to RP this, and I want to see if there is a big enough audience to participate. I only NEED three or four others, but would love and WANT to have more. You dont need to have any real knowledge involving cars at all, I can fill in any gaps and help out. And I'm not going to be a Nazi who does stuff like "YOU CANT HAVE IT" and "THATS IMPOSSIBLE". I'm only looking to have fun.

If there is enough intrest, then I'll post some more info about what I was thinking. Don't worry, for all you TF&TF and 2F2F haters, it wont have an outrageous and over the top story line, but it will be a fun, medium paced RP. For all those intrested, I'm not gonna get on anyone's case if they can't spell or type like a Harvard English Doctor. Hell, even if you can't spell for crap, as long as I know what your saying, that's fine. This isn't some sorta pulitzer prize piece. So, post here or TGram me if your intrested, and I hope this can get somewhere

I am interested but would need more details. Street racing fits very nicely into the psyche of my nation but the infrastructure does not support it (massive overcrowding.) I’d need to know some more details though, is this a commercial thing or a local level thing?

If it is local level can I slowly make it commercial as my companies move in and try to market it? (Endorsements galore.)

Are you patient enough to accept that I’m going to the parents for the holidays and won’t be able to do jack shit until Jan?

Well, the entire RP will take place in Northampton, the capitol of Imitora, and the best place in Imitora to do so. For the longest time, the only way I could describe it was as a Neo Tokyo, but after placing Need For Speed underground 2, that is the best way to see it. Rich areas, poor areas, middle class areas, big downtown area, and highways that actually run inbetween buildings as high as 10-15 stories up.

It is a local thing, but VERY large locally. Mostly uppers class (grade wise) highschoolers, college students, and some older guys and girls. They rang from the uberrich in Ferraris and Lambos to poor high school kids in Honda Civics just trying to build up over time.

You can attempt to bring in a commercial market, but it might be a tad difficult. Imitoran street racers normally prefere one of two things: going with tried and true brands (HKS, GReddy, Dinan, Apex'i, Injen, etc. etc. etc.) or the more popualr way is to bring their cars to one of four tunning houses that will professionally tune your cars.

I can be very patient. I don't mind waiting, as I'm on a very slow computer right now, and when I get back to college, I'll be back on a faster unit. Anythign else ya need to know?

How will the races be done? A mathematical formula and a probability quotient or RPed out based on the driver’s (and writer’s) ability?

Nova, it'll be a bit of all of the above. There are plenty of NPCs which you can race and win or loose to based on your choice. For races between characters, there are a few ways to solve them. One is to contact the person over AIM or TGrams or whatever, its your call, and decide there. If that doesn't work, than I'll use a combo of car and RP skill to help decide an outcome.

For example, if we have tow characters racing, with equal cars, but one with great RP presence and skill against someone who doesn't, than we'll go with who has the better skill, and assume that they (IC) had found a way to win out. After all, from personel expierience, anything can happen on the street. If they both have equal skills and equal cars, then it'll be a toss up, roll of the dice or flip a coin.

When it comes to cars, in Imitora, the culture is so emersed in it, that you can have anything. On any given day, driving down one of the major Imitoran highways you'll see amazing exotics, like Enzos and Murciallagos and Pagani Zondas to old American Musscle like Chevelles and GTOs (as well as teh newer models) to fancy Asian super cars, like Skylines and Supras. Just about any car you can think of exists in Imitora.

Now, the street racing sceen focuses more on the younger culture, as the older racers prefere to take it to a track, so for the most part, the lower end Euro Imports (1/3/5 and a few ///M BMWs, lower C class and a few AMG Benzes, plenty of VWs and Audis) and lowes Asian Imports (Civics, Integras/RSX, Silvias, Celicas, etc.) are used among the younger ones. Some of the older of the younger ones (college and post grad) prefere the higher end Asian Imports (Supras, Skylines, EVOs, etc.) If someone shows up at the streets in something American (musslce or otherwise) they might give them some trouble, but its mostly in good fun.

A factory team would be an intresting twist, as they woulnd't be exempt from law just like the rest of the kids are, and it would offer an intresting veiwpoint. After all, mostly non professional tunners racing agasint a factory team is a bit...unfair, lol.

Cars: It is known that he is the owner of a heavily modified Toyota Supra (http://www.home.no/bil-mc/Bilder/Toyota/Supra/Supra%20-%201.jpg) which he uses for both daily driving and racing, a Ferrari 575 Maranello for ‘special occasions’ and a Aprilia Mille Factory RSV R for the spirited Sunday drives. However, due to ownership of Northampton Import Automotive Performance Specialties, he also ‘owns’ several project cars. However, he does his best to keep those off the street, as the unlimited cash flow for each allow for mostly professional level race ready cars.
Background: Fortier has been involved with the street scene in Imitora since he was in high school. From the early days of getting whatever he could get his hands on to now owning a tuning house, he has been the one person in Imitora you could always count on to race. He is also the one person everyone wants to be friends with. Fortier, being both the former head of the ICIA and the former First Speaker (equivalent to the President), is not above using connections to help out friends on the scene. He also holds the title of being the richest man in Imitora, between is former positions, stock holdings in several major Imitoran companies, and the ‘small’ business of his tuning shop. Fortier’s main mode of transport is a 1998 Toyota Supra Turbo. However, it is, of course, far from stock. It’s currently running 623 horsepower with one of the smoothest torque curves around (the mods will be listed in the actual IC thread). Rumor has it that his shop is currently working on an equally hot EVO. While he admits that he is getting up there in years, Fortier resists any attempts to get him off the streets, claiming that he’s still young at heart.

Background: Holly, like Fortier, has been on the street racing circuit in Imitora since high school. However, unlike Fortier, hers was in Southern Imitora, where the strips were ruled by quarter mile beasts. Chevelles and GTOs running 8 second quarter miles dominated the stop light runs, and Imports were often laughed out. However, upon moving to Northampton and meeting Fortier, she found a new style, where cars were fast, sexy, and all around bad ass. She quickly befriended Fortier, who sold her her first Import, a black Nissan R33 Skyline GT-R. After an accident involving the Skyline, a Focus, and three trees, she purchased an Infiniti G35, and worked with Fortier to force in a RB26DETT from a Nissan Skyline. Holly is a regular at many of the street races, and is often seen in one of Fortier’s shop cars, not in her own.

Background: Holly’s cousin, Andrew was born and raised in Croton, till his family moved to Northampton. Here, He quickly picked up on the race scene, purchasing a used Integra Type R. He made friends quickly, including Robert, who tuned his Integra and a friend’s Civic for free, using it as a sponsorship opportunity. Even though his friend, James, moved, Andrew stayed active in the life, and still owns the Integra, although now he prefers to drive his Mitsubishi. He is now an employee at Fortier’s shop, and is the chief consultant when it comes to Mitsubishi cars. His VR4 is one of the fastest of its style in Imitora, and he has tuned it up to 505 horse power with a relatively smooth torque curve for a Twin Turbo V6.

Background: Amy, despite owning a stock RX-7, is actually pretty involved in the racing scene. However, she gets her speed on two wheels, not four. Her Triumph 600TT motorcycle is her escape from the problems of the real world, and pesky guys who hound her. Her motorcycle is lightly modified with an exhaust, and isn’t as fast as some of the other bikes in Imitora (for example, the recorded 252 Suzuki Hayabusas), but it serves her well. She has a sort of school girl crush on Fortier, whom she met at a riding meet when he first started riding. She feigned interest in cars in order to be with him more, and often appears at the street races, even though most riders stay away from them. Amy often races her motorcycle, and more than often wins, although she has twice lost to Robert’s Supra. Whether it is because of the cars power, or her crush on him, it is yet unknown.

Name: Sebastion Hill

Age: 28

Cars: Sebastion Hill like all Team Jaguar racers drives only Jaguars. His preferred weapon of choice is his Black 1979 Jaguar XJS. This car has been heavily modified with the Lister racing package, giving it air scoops and a racing wing. The engine has also been outfitted with the Marinelli ignition, Beck-Arnley Blue Thunder ignition cables and a host of other hardware upgrades gives this black cat 500+ BHP and a top speed of over 200 mph. Sebastions other car is Jaguar's newer 12 cylinder mark, the XJ 220. This car off the factory line put out 549 BHP and 473 ft/lbs of torque and could achieve 217 mph, this was the fastest production car, until the McClaren F1 stole the title. Sebastions XJ 220 has alos been modified and it now officially has 585 BHP and has been clocked at speeds of 220+ MPH, making this the faster of the two cars. If the race has plenty of straightaways the XJ 220 is used, in urban areas the XJS and it's super tight handling are the order of the day.

Background: Sebastion Hill is the second oldest son of Team Jaguar's greatest racer, Sir Daniel Hill the 6 time F1 racing champion and 5 time Coventry Fortnight winner. Like his father Sebastion is a drivers driver. Preferring control and a steady hand to all out speed and rubber burning starts, the young Sebastion has all of his fathers patience and control. Sebastion has impressed many with his come from behind victories and his tenacity, never backing down but never getting into dogfights over position, until it matters that is. Sebastion is tipped to replace Sir Daniel when he does eventually retire.

James slapped his new 2003 toyota celica into 3rd gear and flew down the off ramp onto the streets of Northampton for the first time in a year, he was excited to be back!. He powered down the windows and took a long good wiff of the city's night air, he said to himself,"im back...been awhile..too long but im back".

James lost his civic due to an accident on a freeway which almost resulted in his passing but it was caused by another driver therefore he was rembursed...the Celica was stock but that would change with the friends he had here. James had no more than 80$ in his pocket and the clothes in a duffelbag on the back seat, he couldn't even afford some damn cornrows as his hair was just in a slicked back ponytail for now.

Also, your gonna love the opening post, its gonna detail the race between Tyrone and Fortier, and what happened to the ///M3...its gonna be bad ass. Also, we'll assume that James left after Fortier dropped out of the racing game, I'm gonna be starting this at two years after the last thread.

Hmmm...dunno a bout the sound stuff, mostly just performace stuff. What turbo set up were you gonna go with? I was thinking for a Celi, just go with the TRD supercharger kit, crank it up to maybe 8psi of boost...If you get on AIM, I'll hit ya with my advice. With that set up (depending on the turbo and how much boost your pushing), you'll be faster than Andrew in his VR4.

Name: Erika "Wind Dancer" Funejima
Age: 24
Car: A car looked like a Kouki Toyota Corolla Levin [AE86] on the outside, but was fitted with a Mazda 20B. Horsepower was estimated to be at 600hp, without compromising too much on the handling. A overall speed monster on straights, and have agile handling on the winding roads, especially in the Mont d'Acra region.
Background: Entered the street racing world when she used a 1.5 litre Corolla to beat a number of heavily modified cars on the famous downhill road of Redhill. Sponsored by a retired racer, she decided to revive the former glory of the sponsorer's Levin by fitting a Rotary under the hood.

Name: Rose "Venom" Stewart
Age: 22
Car: She drives a Toyota Chaser Tourer V [JZX100]. Her chaser is said to produce 720 horsepowers, but she never let her car to run on a dyno, saying that it would damage her Venomdrive - that's how she called her car.
Background: The girl of a rich trader, she was always found skipping school from 14, and was reported to drive her chaser when she turned 18. Her driving is so aggressive that her winning were usually contributed by surrendering opponents.

Name: Tim "Bluewind" Chevas
Age: 25
Car: You might look down at him when he was seen with his blue Skyline 2000 GT-R [KPGC110], but when he stepped on the accelerator, you have to regret. His car is not the most powerful at 500hp, but he made up with accurate handling.
Background: Following his father's route, he drove his father's car to challenge or be challenged. He was known for his skillful driving, using every bit of power and control.

Mike Kowalski's 1937 Dodge D-5 Coup
A vintage hot rod similar to one in American Graffiti, this sucker has a Chevy 450 cubic inch which can pull over 500 hp with the type transmission installed. All metal construction and carbon fiber reinforcement makes this a solid, 1900 pound ride for the President of Crazed Marines. It has been clocked at just over 165 miles per hour on a local drag strip.

(OOC: Perhaps I’m just being a stickler but without the knowledge of weight and the coefficient of friction knowing the HP of your car might be less than helpful.)

(OOC: I’ve been doing some reading, but I am by no means an expert. Give me some pointers, politely, if this seems like a stat wank.)

Bruno Kelley

Perhaps one of the more gruff racers on the track Bruno Kelley is not one to be taken lightly. Decrying the drying up of street racing in Nova Hope as a travesty, though in less than the vanguard of the King’s English, Bruno has every intention to take home a trophy in Imitora to prove the validity of old style Noviet muscle cars despite their dwindling domestic support. Bruno snorts his nose at the modern Noviet racer in their sporty car, heavy with electronics and computer chips.

Bruno started out as a stock car driver, but when he was thrown out for some illegal tweaking he hit the street. For Bruno winning a race is not about finesse, subtly or beauty it is about raw power and his car reflects that. A heavy engine that features forced injection, a large blower and a dirty burning hydrocarbon fuel that he refers to as ‘Mama’s own.’

A heavy man his car is built to compare. With many of the parts still steel, or titanium for some weight concessions, Bruno’s car will most likely be the thickest one on the road. Slow to start and hard to handle at high speed this beast is not to be underestimated. Given a good straight stretch Bruno’s 1,350hp plus engine will leave even the sportiest of ‘rice burners’ in the dirt.

While not a fan of technology in any sense Bruno has tried to make some adaptations to keep with the times. A dashboard mounted HUD allows him to keep track of the cars vitals, as well as check the running temperature of his opponent. This same HUD also provides the interface for his fuel system; allowing him to keep the oxygen, incendiary and straight fuel at an acceptable, to him, level for the conditions. Perhaps the most impressive piece of equipment, also ran through the HUD, is the driver control over the gear to drive shaft ratios for each tire. With a quick flick of the fingers this beast is no longer giving power, but still running the engine just as hot. Better still is Bruno’s attempt to counter act inertia, by forcing the power to the outside wheels. While not a perfect system it allows him to try and corner at higher speeds.

Jin Shen

Conjuring to mind the image of the far eastern femme fatale Jin is a smooth operator to be sure. Currently without a vehicle she hopes to make a name for herself racing in a domestic car from Imitora.

While still young Jin’s reflexes are impressive, making her deadly driving techniques even more disconcerting. Youth offers excess, and Jin lives that adage. Off the circuit she parties and tries to ‘conquer’ as many men as she can; her youthful exuberance always threatening to break her cool veneer. On track however she lets it all ride. Currently wanted in two Noviet Polis for questioning about street racing related deaths Jin does not see the other racers, only obstacles to be removed or overcome.

Jin also holds another impressive first on Noviet society, as the first woman to be convicted of raping a man. While Nova Hope offers no prison system to speak of they do require her to speak to a social worker, albeit telephonically is acceptable, periodically to explain how she is overcome her baser instincts. Jin is commonly used as an example to point to the failures in the Noviet rehabilitation philosophy.

Kayode MacDonald

A recent citizen of Nova Hope Kayode has fervently adopted the street culture. Once a poor dock worker in Zanzibar Kayode is now living the high life, literally. Having certain foreign contacts in the drug trade Kayode has managed to turn his once illicit knowledge into a profitable Noviet style brokerage and consulting firm. Now having a firm market share in the Polis of Orton, almost a majority in fact, Kayode is looking to indulge his hobbies.

Buying from some of the newer models offered in Nova Hope Kayode has picked himself up a sleek little machine that rivals, if not exceeds, those produced in foreign markets. Fiercely patriotic of his new country Kayode sports the Noviet flag as an impressive piece of air brushed artwork consuming his car.

Kayode’s car, with its oxygen pellet injectors and fuel injectors, has begun creating quite the reputation on the drag circuit. Tight handling and a light weight frame mean this machine was built to race through the down town areas. More than one fans has come out to see Kayode on the starting line, the lines of liquid fire he leaves are legendary.

High-tech and sporting the latest innovations from his adopted home Kayode himself has realized some of his own limitations, “… the highway is not my friend. I can weave and duck but if you give me an empty straight away the other guys start to edge me out. Don’t get me wrong though, you can’t touch my baby in the ¼ mile…”

Hmmm...Brunos car will definately need to be on slicks, becuase even with a very pesimistic 35%DT loss, He still is running...878 wheel HP, and with that much power, your gonna rip up street tires and get all of five feet before your car is running on rims. The slicks will help put that power to the ground.

Jin and Kayode sound fine, and will fit right in.

Allright everyone, lets get this party started.

For this RP, I'm going to "appropriate" (steal is such a harsh word) a character from my Texan Hotrodders account and make him younger. I suppose you'll get to see how Edward "Speed Demon" Jones got his stripes before becoming an Ambassador to the UN. I guess I should probably post with my Texan Hotrodders account, in that case.
