I already tried this once, but it fell apart. I blame this entirely on my own poor plot/posting. I have figured out what I am doing this time and it should be good.

This RP will take place in Dancing Penguin's Academy for Enhanced Humans. Basically, it's X-men style humans in High School. All characters for this RP should be High School age and have some kind of super-human ability. I don't mind if you blatantly rip off some TV character's powers but I do ask that you avoid repeating the powers of another character. Anyone involved in the first try will tell you I am extremely picky about this. Also, please have a weakness or drawback for your character's power. Everyone who participates may have one or two characters. I ask that you post your characters' stats here so that I can make sure they're not too powerful. Here are my characters as examples:

Name: Haley Black
AKA: "FireHawk"
Age: 17 (Junior)
Ability: Pyrokenesis
Weakness/Drawback: Haley's power is extremely effected by strong emotion. She can easily be driven to the point where she will cook anything near her. She is also claustrophobic, due to the fact that she would suffocate very quickly in an enclosed space.
Other Info: Haley's true last name is "Starr," but she hasn't been called that since she was kiddnaped by D Corp. over ten years ago. She was adopted into Corby's family.

Name: Corby Black
AKA: "Lord Darkfist"
Age: 18 (Senior)
Ability: Corby can focus darkness into solid objects allowing him to create swords, shields, wings, ect.
Weakness/Drawback: Corby is substantially weakened by natural light.
Other Info: Corby is the leader of a rouge group of students called "Lord Darkfist's Raiders." They sneak out of the DPAEH complex from time to time and cause general mayhem in nearby towns. Haley is Corby's adopted sister.

I will also be using computer-communicating "Codebreaker" (Formerly "Techie") as a cameo.

I would really like it if someone else's character could organize a group of vigilante students to fight "Lord Darkfist's Raiders" over the course of the RP. Be creative with your character's abilities!

Also, if your a new player and/or a mediocre RPer (such as myself), feel free to post anyway. I'm not gonna exclude you unless you absolutely horrible.

Name: Jonathan Orwitz
AKA: Mentalic
Age: 17 (Junior)
Ability: Jonathan can probe people's thoughts. He can also repress some thoughts and bring others out. He can also if, concentrating very deeply, send out a strong mentalic blast.
Weakness/Drawback: Jonathan can only affect one person at a time. Also, his power does not work on anything with too simple of a mind. He can only currently use one blast every 5 hours.
Background: Jonathan first realized his powers when he could learn his classes by reading his teacher's thoughts and when he predicted and blocked all of his opponents moves in his jujitsu classes. Jonathan's parents were experiencing strange thoughts completely unrelated to what was happening in front of them and they realized it was Jonthan. He was sent to a mentor where he trained his mind to the peak. He was sent to the DPAEH when his mentor could teach him no more.

Name: Josh Tarren
"AKA": Brainbox
Age: 18 (senior)
Ability: Extreme mental powers, his thought process and cognitive powers are often compared to a super-computer. He does not have any "special" powers, but he creates his powers through the making of machinery.
Weakness/Drawback: Too logical, he often thinks more about himself than other people. Has a disregard for life, extremely cowardly and deceitful. Tends to be a "loner". EXTREMELY paranoid.
Background: At the age of five, he had an IQ equal to Albert Einstein. He had a masters degree in eight different subjects by the time when he was twelve. He attended DPAEH to further his incredibl mental abilities.

Name: Aron Savetri
AKA: Anbar *see below*
Age: 16 (Junior)
Ability: Electrokinesis - Can mess with electric signals and anything on the EM spectrum at will
Weakness/Drawback: Can't focus on more than one target for more tha na few seconds without passing out from the huge amount of strain it causes for him now.
Background: Aron first realized he had his powers when he was about 4. As he drove past houses decorated with lights for Christmas, he realized that he was causing some of them to flash when they SHOULDN'T be flashing. After he demonstrated this to his parents, they sent him to DPAEH for more training.

*OOC Note: The nickname I picked for Aron comes from a book series I've read where these two kids travel to different worlds. In one world, electric power is called anbaric power, so until a better idea come up, there's the reason for the name.

AKA: Flood
Age: 17 (Junior)

Ability: Produce and Manipulate any form of water. Can also breathe underwater and is known for his good swimming abilities.

Weakness/Drawback: Manipulation results vary with anything other than a substance that is 51% or more water, vulnerable to electricity.

Brief Background: Discovered powers at age 6 when he accidentally fell into a river. With the strong current, his parents thought he’d drowned. They found him 10 min later uscathed, and babbling about how he could 'control water.' Nicknamed himself Flood after he was expelled for flooding his old highschool. At 14, an old man handed him a pamphlet about ‘Dancing Penguin's Academy for Enhanced Humans.’ After convincing his parents that it was a school for ‘enhanced learning,’ they sent him off to DPAEH.

Reserve a space for Sarah Vandell for me, DP. Not saying it's confirmed, i just want a space in case i DO join this.

Well, I thought forever on an idea for a power, since all the good one were taken I came up with this...

Name: Cassandra Depsan (goes by Cassie)
AKA: Short Circut
Age: 18 (Senior)
Ability: Has the ability to 'communicate' with electronic devices. More specifically, she can manipulate a computer chip without needing a command interface.
Weaknesses: Cannot work with overly complex systems, must be in physical contact with the device she is trying to manipulate, and may 'absorb' the memory of the computer which can cause her to go into a shock like coma.

Background: Cassie led a normal life, and her powers were relatively dormant till her 13th birthday. Upon purchasing a computer, her initial touch fried the circutry. This trend continued through her first years of highschool, till she learned a basic control of her powers. She ran away from home, and joined a local Imitoran street gang, using her powers to help steal cars. She was, however, caught, and sent to the DPEAH in order to help refine her powers, and hopefully learn to use them only for good.

From now on, no more electronic powers.

According to my basic math skills, we have 7 (8 if you count The Gothic Underworld's reservation) meaning we have room for 4-5 characters. We should wait for the spots to be filled.

In my personal opinion, methinks we should keep Cassie. She could be the positive to Codebreaker's negative or some strange background hook like that.

OOC: Wow, I never thought anyone else would have heard of that, Dimmimar but yeah it is from His Dark Materials. I couldn't come up with anything better tho! lol

Thank you for your concern, GU, but I think I'll be okay. I have to say, seems a little arrogant of you to assume I need you to save my thread. *Shrugs* Ah, whatever. I do need to know if you're in on this or not, though, I won't save a space forever...

As we still have seven (or eight?) characters, we have space for five (four?) more. Here's the back story that your character will have either heard about or experienced first hand:

Last year, a group of seniors formed a group bent on destabilizing the Penguin regime. As their leader went by "Earthtide," they called themselves "Lord Earthtide's Raiders." They did little more than meet in secret for the first part of the year. Then, a junior approached them about joining. Earthtide told one of his followers, a large guy who went by "Razorwire," to "Get that scrawny kid outta my sight." When Razorwire wound up in a tree halfway across the field Earthtide was intrigued. He smiled when the boy introduced himself as "Darkfist."

"You're that 'Black' kid, aren't you?" Darkfist nodded, he was the adopted son of Alfred Black, head CEO of D Corp., the biggest company in in Dancing Penguin. Darkfist joined the raiders and urged them to become more active. They staged several rallies which got progressively more violent, though no serious injuries were caused. This was only the beginning as Darkfist urged the Raiders to strike outside the school. Just when it seemed the group was ready to try such an attack, the unthinkable happened.

A freshman named Emily Smith was found dead. Emily was Earthtide's girlfriend and he was dragged in for questioning. "Lord Earthtide's Raiders" were disbanded by the school. It was determined that Emily was killed by powers identical to Darkfist's, but the Raiders had been meeting at the time of the murder and Darkfist had stayed in that meeting the entire time.

Earthtide returned to the school cursing the Enforcer Squad that couldn't seem to get any leads on the case. He vowed to find the answer himself and joined the Enforcer Squad along with most of the Raiders. Darkfist felt betrayed that his friends would join the regime that they had been fighting. He swore to bring the Penguins' rule down on top of them. This year he searches for a new group of raiders to help him...

Other info about DPAEH:
Dancing Penguin's Academy for Enhanced Humans is a boarding school. It's grounds are surrounded by a chain link fence. The school has always been outside Penguin control.

Important facts about Dancing Penguin:
Dancing Penguin is at a "Semi-Future" tech level. The intelligent species in it include demons and other paranormal whatnot, humans, and talking penguins about shoulder height to your average man. The latter have been in control for as long as anyone can remember. Their oppressive regime has imposed harsh morals on the people. Their police are the Enforcer Squad.

And there it is. I will hold out until this evening for any more entries, but then I promise we'll start this. I sincerely apologize for all this delay.

Ability: Etherealism, but he can affect others while ethereal if he concentrates
Weakness/drawback: Limited foresight - he generally tries to pull off something impressive without thought for the consequences.
Background: Thomas rarely speaks about his background, mostly because he prefers to think in the present - he enjoyed his boyhood, but likes to think in the now rather than the then. He spent a great deal of his younger life engaged in producing art, winning several awards for seemingly impossible scultures (which he had manipulated from inside them).

Codename: Steel
Description: 6'4", 230 LBS.

Abilities: His body is organic steel (think Colossus - Xman) thereby granting him near-invulnerability and greatly enhanced strength. In his steel form, he does not need to eat or breathe. It is unknown whther he can revert back to human form.

Background: Very little is known about Steel, except that he was abandoned as a child in an orphanage. Shortly after puberty, his powers manifested, prompting the attention of the Gawdly Super Human Affairs department. Steel was removed from the orphanage, and placed in an advanced covert-action training team, where he learned the finer arts of combat, large and small scale. The initial plan was turn him into a bounty-hunter of the highest caliber, but the President of Gawdly, Darius Steele, took a shine to the young man and decided to try and integrate him into a more normal setting...meaning, hanging around with other kids his age with powers.

IMPORTANT: Steel has never spoken aloud in his life. No one knows why, though doctors have assumed it was due to some tragic event in his life.

Don't worry about it.

DP: Steel has ALL sorts of weaknesses...anything mental or magical can potentially take him out. Physically, he is a juggernaut but not unbeatable. A large explosion could knock him out, though it may take a low-yield nuke to kill him. He is young, so his powers have not peaked. Also, given his past and emotional state, he can probably be manipulated easily by someone with nefarious plans. As the story progresses, we will see his thoughts and feelings more, and find out about his past. Eventually, he will probably speak.

Again, his power is similar to the X-men's Colossus, and as you know, he HAS had his ass kicked on a lot of occasions.
