A Statement to the World

Deflare: Greetings to the rest of the world. It has been thirty years since the five Pacific islands of Calimna, Melvos, Nohr, Haen, and Karvith banded together into a small democracy. Since then, we have grown and prospered; our population now exceeds three hundred million people, and massive land reclamation efforts have united our lands into one. This land has since left the densely populated Pacific Ocean for the relative comfort of California.

Deflare: In that time, Pennterra, as the new nation came to be called, remained in isolation, paying no attention to international affairs. It was not difficult; the Pacific is far too large for any one nation to gain much focus, and California is fairly peaceful. However, we fell that it is time for a change.
The people of the Democratic Republic of Pennterra wish to announce to the world that not only do we exist, but we are willing to open trade and diplomatic negotiations with the other nations of the world. Our economy is prospering, and we are very advanced in space technology, genetics, environmental technology, and computer technology. We also have solid reserves of gold and uranium on our island.
Our offer is this: We will allow nations who share our ideals of democracy and freedom to build embassies on our land, and will open trade negotiations with the outside world. However, we will not support dictatorships and corporate police states, and will not join military alliances with any nation. We are a peaceful people, and will not allow war to savage our lands.
