Admiral Matthias Calza stood aboard the LSF-FireStorm, one of two newly comissioned capital ships. Below was a planet overcome with suffering from violent oppressers he would not stand for.
Ranked the second highest military officer in the empire's navy he was a skilled warrior and tactician. All around him Imperial Heavy Destroyers and Super-Heavy Cruisers took their appointed positions.
The armada loomed over TallonX. It would have been very imposing to the abominations on the surface. Calza knew they would come and when they did he would be ready.
As the minutes passed he relized they would not make the first move. He ordered a low level bombardment and that all ships small enough were to fly in as support. There would be a time when the big boys slugged it out, it would just take a little coaxing.
It was time for a major plan to be set. "Display hologram and statistican information," he ordered in a commanding voice. Soon he found himself enveloped in a 3D display of all the pirates territory. They had moved along slaughtering populaces and it was time that stopped.
They only had a few major fronts left. They held TallonX and had captured an artifical moon settlement in which they tortured civilians. It was this that drove Matthias to have the will to slaughter these pirates, no matter what the cost. He still had haunting dreams of the genocide he had seen on Cancri and he would not let such a thing continue again.
Under the capital ship 8 bomber squadrens were deployed. Led by Captain James Christian they were the first time these two forces would meet on a ligitimate battlefeild and not a house to house massacre on the part of the pirates. All of the men in those squadrens burned with the same rage everyone did. They all had blood lust. It was time to do their job, killing is their job.
In the containment chamber, a single red light lit up, followed by more. They soon were growing exponentially. CEO of Robo Military Industries Micheal Burton watched happily as his latest creation walked out of the holding space.
For the past decade Largent had been trying to design special forces unlike anything the world had ever seen. They had finally done it. Each had its own top of the line private vehicle, was armed to the teeth, mad no noise as it moved, and most importantly never missed a shot or sucumbed to torture.
They could jump ten feet in the air and run at speeds over 20 mph without slowing down. They were also made with the latest and strongest alloy wich made the inpenetrable to alomst any single round or laser shot.
Unfortunatley, before he could show off, they were all being shipped out to the front lines.

The Royal Patrol Section XVI cruised through space some ways away from the looming conflict, blissfully unaware of the goings on.
For now.
The Spotter class ship Copurnicus had recently been refitted with a new sensor suite, which wasnt working. Engineers had been busy all day, tinkering, switching, replacing, and, at last, kicking the machine.
Suddenly, apparently of its own accord, it turned on.
"Ummm, Commador?" The rather startled sensor operator stared with wide eyes at the large segment of his screen which was marked with 'Ship' incidators.
"Ensign?"
"Contact, sir."
---
The small fleet of ships banked hard and began accelerating towards the looming conflict, the Spotter attempting to keep a sensor blind up ahead of them to avoid detection until the last moment.
"Do not open fire until we can determine who is on what side, or if they fire on us." The commador was sweating, the two fleets were much larger than his tiny patrol assignment, he hoped at least one of them was friendly.
"Fire port heavy cannons," Calza commanded just as a techie reported a scouting party of some sort was heading straight n to thick of the fighting.
"Ignore them for now and keep the pirates away from them," just as he finished speaking there was a flash of light and a pirate ship was blown into oblivion. "Were pushing their buttons, they will reveal their true power soon enough.
On the ground Christian and his men were skimming the roofes as they sentplasma ttorpedos sailing into targets the size of a thumbnail. Pirates were sent all over. They had managed to only destroy pirate installations whil saving mush of their own. Soon however the pirates grew wize and went into precious Largetnian installations.
"What now boss?"
"Kill 'em," and the battle continued. Soon however the tides would turn.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pirate commander sat in his capital ship observing the situation. All were totally oblivious to the mass killing that would soon occur.
He commanded all his ships near the planet to slaughter the scouting party. They armed their cannons and took careful aim...
OOC: I only RPed the pirates to keep things going. PS, looks like its just eh two of us. If you have any friends here that are good RPers feel free to invite them.
The Special forces flew at the planet. They were armed extremley heavily and would be landing to weaken defenses.
As soon as they landed they found themselves under heavy fire. They remained in their vehicles and began using their cannons to take out tanks and artillery.
Soon the major fighting was over and they found themselves in the middle of nowhere. They would have to locate a city to start at.
As they moved east they came apon foot hills. Using their intslled anti-personell machine guns they engaged in a gun battle. Behind them Largentian Tundra Troopers began landing for support.

On the outskirts of the system, three ships exited hyperspace. The lead ship in the formation, a 300 m long cruiser with the name Gauntlet painted on the bow pulled to a stop to observe the fight from a distance. Two 150 m long gunships, the Shiv and the Claymore pulled into screening positions to port and starboard. After identifying the Largentian fleet and the patrol group from DGNT, they sent a tight beam transmission to what appeared to be the Largentian flagship, judging by the amount of comm traffic coming from it.
To commander of Largent forces:
We are units of the Squornshelan Second Fleet. We detected your battle from hyperspace en route to a rendevous with our entire fleet.
They can be at this location within 8 hours. If requested, we will call in our fleet and join your side against the pirates.
We accept your gracious offer. This battle will most likely escilate fast.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pirate commander listened to the incoming message. It was concerning. He gave the order for the entire fleet to execute its manuver in 8 hours. The forces on the ground could definatley hold out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the fighting in the foothills seemed to be becoming a stalemate Largentian forces launched plasma mortars decimating opposing artillery. Current losses are minimal but definatley noticable amonst the ranks.
Largentian Forces have made it to the peak of the foothills. They hae acuired the TallonX capital. An ambush and blitz is being prepared.

Master Cheif of the Hocho gazed up at it in all its glory. The 10,000 km ring. It always remained over the night sky. It appeared to never move. It always rose and sank in the same two points of the night sky.
It was now the center of Hocho religion and power. They had spent their years finding a way to destroy the pirates who possessed a small secret the humans had yet to discover.
There would be death, but his people would rise again when the time came. As he stood to leave the temple the elite forces behind him rose and made way for him. He walked through the sea of bodies out onto the massive temples balcony. Below the entire Hocho populace stood before him.
"My people!" His voice boomed. "Today is our time. We shall rise again. As he spoke and Armada of ships rose from behind the temple. "We shall smite those who have wronged us and in the end, our faith will save us," as his foice faded with his last words he raised his hands and gazed towards the massive silver ring.

As the battle on the planet progressed, a large area of space seemed to shimmer as the main group of the Squornshelan Second Space Fleet exited hyperspace. The formation was roughly pyramidal, with the pointed end of the pyramid at the front to maximize the firepower that could be brought against any enemy. The ships making up the formation were as follows:
1x Zarquon class Heavy Star Destroyer
5x Sabre class Star Destroyer
10x Pummel class Heavy Cruiser
10x Tempest class Cruiser
25X Pulsar class Gunship
These forces joined up with the one Cruiser and two gunboats already present. The destroyers and Heavy Cruisers deployed fighters and bombers which turned down towards the surface of the planet.

I was waiting till you got back.
As two entire wings* of Squornshelan fighters and bombers sped downward toward the planet's surface, a wide beam transmission was sent to all Largent forces planetside to avoid friendly fire.
All Largent forces please be advised, the incoming vehicles are friendlies, do not fire, repeat, incoming vehicles are friendlies, do not fire. We're here to provide additional air support so if you have a target that needs to be taken out, get on the airwaves and we'll be there.
The Squornshelan forces burst through a thin layer of clouds and began spraying fire at pirate installations, they met with little resistance, as ground troops had done a good job disabling AA batteries.
*A Squornshelan Wing consists of 72 fighters and bombers, divided into six 12 ship squadrons. There are 4 squadrons of fighters and two of bombers in each wing. This makes the total of Squornshelan forces 102 fighters and 48 bombers. The fighters are fast and highly maneuverable single seaters, armed with laser cannons and antimatter torpedoes, the bombers also have lasers and topredoes but are slower and less agile due to their larger size. They are also equipped with tail mounted gunnery positions manned by a gunner and additional antimatter bomb launch tubes on their undersides. The difference between antimatter bombs and antimatter torpedoes is that torpedoes are homing devices that use a sensor echo to lock on to a target, while a bomb is given a specific trajectory to travel to a stationary target by onboard targeting computers.
As the pirates began taking heavy fire from new forces they were given the order to occupy underground fortresses they have been working on. They weren't wonderful but they could stop any conventional weapons. They would force a ground battle in which they would have an upperhand.
In space the pirate commander gave the order. He ordered the entire fleet he brought on his operation to execute their manuver. Since the Largentian forces were forced to attack from the day side he had stationed his forces on the night side undetected. They were ordered to come around both sides and ambush the Largentian and Squornshelous fleets. Their orders were to leave no survivors.
As Admiral Calza was preparing his major offensive the warning sirens sounded...all hands on deck. As he gazed out into the abyss he saw the massive ships coming around the moon. There were so many of them. It was a horrible mistake on the part of the intel. Then again, when in the umbra or penumbra of the moon they would almost be invisible.
The first shot began hitting the fleet. Most of the ships rallied around the capital ship in from which Calza was commanding the fleet. They protected it but gave it room to use its massive weapons to begin making a dent in the attacking fleet. They also had the problem of working with the Squornshelous fleet to ensure they were not obliterated. It was a most unpleasant situation.
OOC: My exact numbers are:
1 Eclipse Capital Ship(Also referred to over transmission beams as FireStormII)
5 Star Destroyers
5 Heavy Star Destroyers
6 Dreadnaughts
10 Scipii Heavy Cruisers
10 Brutii Heavy Destroyers
Countless Fighters and Transport Ships/ground forces
The Master Cheif was on his way as the ring was crefully transported. he was pleased that his people had found their religious selves and gained faith in the prophecies.
What he and his people would have to do would affect so many life forms but there was no end to the amount it could save from the pirates. Some said they were not the demons depicted by the new holy book but the Master Cheif knew the truth. They had to be destroyed. It would only be weeks until a mission as old as time would be completed and he would be propelled into history forever.

As the pirate fleet emerged from around the moon, the Squornshelan vessels came about to face the new threat. They roll into a battle formation that was shaped like a large bowl, out of the way of Largentian fire and with the hollow side facing the pirates. The centerpiece of the bowl was the 9 km Omnivorax the flagship for this fleet. Around it in a seemingly random fashion were the rest of the ships. The Star Destroyers Nightfall, Scythe, Fortress, Shredder, and Darkness quickly moved their 5 km long hulls to a roughly pentagonal foramtion around the Omnivorax. The smaller cruisers, 600 m long Pummel class, armed with a disproportionate amount of Heavy TEMP's* and Turbolasers to knock out larger capital ships, and 500 m long Tempest class, bristling with smaller, faster and more accurate laser batteries for anti-starfighter uses.
The numerous gunships were scattered evenly around the formation, and were well suited to breaking up fighter formations or finding blind spots on capital ships and hammering away. As the enemy rushed into the formation, the rest of the Squornshelan fighters and bombers were released, 23 full wings were added to the mix, and sped toward the onrushing pirates in a cloud so thick they blotted out the constellations, only to replace them with the flares of their exhaust.
The pirates began taking significant losses with smaller ships and decided they failed to surprise the enemy and were outnumbered. They only shot several rounds into the enemy before fleeing and high speeds.
OOC: sorry for the crappy quality of my post but I want to RP winning the war on the surface before the space campaign begins. As the first human divisions were landing behind the main front General Loiselle was coordinating the strike on the TallonX capital.
Due to radio silence they were not informed where the Squornshelous forces would be landing. They dicided it best to hold out momentarily and just hit the city with artillery.
As Plasma Mortars were set up apon the hills Caryna, the capital, was clearly visible. However. There seemed to be little action on the surface. As they selected targets carefully and blew them to a black dust there was still little action.
Loiselle, perplexed, decided to send in forces to see what the situation was. 2,000 special forces along with 10 MBTs closed in on the city with support from fighters hovering above.
On the outskirts of the city it was obvious the place was no longer active. They radioed back that the capital was won. At that very moment the pirate forces found their targets.
To the horror of the forces they were standing on the main street in the middle of a crossfire. The streets were too narrow for the tanks to manuver and they were quickly obliterated. The special forces had to use them as cover. Their rifles were far superior to anything the pirates wilded but they were greatly outnumbered.
Back at camp Loiselle heared the cries and gunfire a short distance away. He ordered his remaining 8,000 infantry and 50 tanks to assault the city under the cover of the fighters. However he soon found that the pirates were flooding the streets from below ground and tanks were of no use.
Forced to use his fighters, he ordered them to hit the mid-section of the pirate forces to minimize Largentian losses. As the remaining 8,000 troops began to engage the relized that without aid from Squornshelous they would surely die.

As reports of the pirate ambush began flowing in, Squornshelan fighters scrambled from their LZ planetside and for close air support. They came in low and fast, streaking overhead concentraing their laser fire on clumps of enemies. They refrained form using torpedos so as to avoid friendly fire. As the fighter wave blew past. Squornshelan Marines, riding in from the LZ, arrived and began to execute a flanking maneuver. They moved in as mechanized infantry, taking cover behind moving tanks and defending their weak spots. As additional marines moved in to directly support the Largentian troops, the embattled soldiers would have been startled by their appearance. Wearing heavy body armor woven from a polymer similar to kevlar and an ultralight titanium alloy, with a helmet made of the same material and a combination Nightvision goggle monocular and gas mask, they looked decidedly scary, and there were a few instances of friendly fire. (ooc something like the bad guys from Killzone) Despite a few communication difficulties with the Largentian troops, they moved efficiently and soon the positions that had shredded the scout force were in friendly hands.
OOC: Sorry for the delay and bad post but I've been away and have a lot of catching up to do.
IC: The Pirates were quickly driven back and retreated into the sewer systems and underground dwellings. Largentian forces quickly responded by grenading the pirates. It proved very effective.

A small shuttle craft escorted by two fighters set down gently in the officers hangar bay of the FireStorm and a small party got out. They were brought to a planning room by a complement of guards. The leader of the group stepped forward. "Hello, I am Drevan Gordon, the Tactical officer ofr the Squornshelan forces."
"Admiral Calza," The admiral offered as he extended his hand. "I'm commanding the Largentian forces. As you may have guessed, we have a slight situation here. Basically, we are in the middle of a system surrounded by space pirates.
"On the ground we are winning while over all we are losing," Calza drew up a map of the system. "We are here," he motioned to the moon, "On the outerside of the system.
"The pirate stronghold is here," He showed a planet just outside the system. "It is more heavily guarded thaan any planet I have ever seen. Tehy have ships constantly breaching our boarders and wreaking havoc on our ships and planets.
"Once we finish off the last of them on the surface here we will move fleets into position and wipe out the pirates for good. Currently they are on the retreat south into a mountain pass. One battle there will finish them off.
"My only question is, will you join us in our fight?"

"Yes, we will see this through to the end."
Gordon looked at an animated map of the surface, showing reported troop positions.
"Given the situation down there, it shouldn't take long to mop up. After that, We should proceed to the stronghold planet, cautiously though, we won't have the element of surprise."
He took a breath and looked Admiral Calza straight in the eye.
"Unless you have any concerns about something on the planets surface, I would suggest an orbital bombardment to destroy as much as we can before sending troops and starfighters in."
Calza shrugged slightly, "the planet isn't Largentian...technically, an orbital bombardment would be fine, I'm not sure what could it would do other than telling them we are coming. Like you saw today the pirates typically dwell beneath ground, however it may be worth a try. I thank you for promising your assistence in this conflict.
"For now, I only request you meet our forces on the surface and prepare to win the planet. It will only take on battle in their underground systems and the first part of this war will be over. I will see you on the surface."
On the surface Largentian forces hovered over the tiny opening. The only other entrance would be used by their allies. It would act as a bottleneck and the forces would take heavy losses, but it was necissary.
They gave the radio command to move and they opened the tunnel's cover. There were immediate gun shots followed by the flash of a grenade from a largentian soldier.
After several moments the breach was complete and the soldiers were ordered to find their allies.

The Squornshelan Marines moved cautiosly into the other entrance to the underground complex. They maintained radio silence and used IR scanners to locate pirates. Several gun emplacements were taken out by shoulder launched rockets before the pirates even knew the Squornshelans were there. Among the regular marines were a few heavy weapons units, where specially trained marines carried scaled down laser cannons and railguns on harnesses designed to absorb the intense recoil. Soon the Squornshelans were close to the rendezvous point decided on before the attack. The began double checking the heat images they were firing on. After all, shooting him in the back isn't a great way to meet up with your ally.
The Largentian marines heard a deafening boom. All thought the same thing what better way to tell em were coming? Soon they saw what appeared to be the Squornshelan marines. They kept their weapons down and moved slowly so that the darkness was the cause of their demise.
Soon they had confirmed it was their allies up ahead and moved up to meet them. One man walked ahead of the pack to greet the allies. "My name is captain Araz, I'll be leading the Largentian forces. As it is dark and I have no intention of fumbling around finding your commanding officer all for a handshake I''l just get straight to the point. This battle may as well be over. We will move down the tunnel right infront of you. Kill anything that moves, we have no worries of friendly fire down here. We will rendezvous in the tunnel farthest west for a final assault on the center of pirate operations in one hour. Be there or get left behind."
When he was done the forces split again the Largentians moving northwest the Squornshelans moving north. It was soon evident that the Largentian fight would be bloody. A straight shot to the heart of the besast had been a gamble and they had lost. They could only hope their allies faired better.

The Squornshelan Marines weren't having much more luck than their Largentian allies. The tunnel was heavily defended by Pirates with strongpoints and barricades set up that were like small forts. After capturing the first of these barriers, the marines who reached the top of the undefended battlements were gunned down and fell on the heads of their comrades below. A second fort waited just behind it. Valuable time was lost while a heavy weapons unit was called up to the front. Normally kept in the back because of their vulnerability, the most powereful squad in the Squornshelan forces stepped forward. Two members set up a tripod with a large tube with an attached monitor perched on top. While grunts kept enemy heads down with blindfire from the top of the barricade, the first of the two marines loaded a missile the size of a mans arm, that was capped with a tinted glass cover. he then took a stance behind the tube and pulled the trigger As the missile erupted out of the tube, small guiding fins sprang out from its body and two control wires trailed back to the control box and monitor. The second marine saw a missiles eye view from a tiny camera inthe front of the projectile, and guided it into a spot near the top of the second fort. An explosion shook the tunnel, throwing billowing dust up into the air. Instantly, the marines leaped over the barrier's top and began firing, using their IR vision to pick out targets. It was slow going, but they were making progress.
Araz jumped and dodged trying to avoid the slaughter surrounding him. Easily a quarter of his men were dead. He had no time for this. He had to take action.
"Regroup!" He called as his remaining marines gathered in. "Okay, we have one shot at this and there is no room for error. My guess is that on average you each have five seconds to live. We know that and so do they. Lets prove those bastards wrong." His men cheered somewhat and soon they took off in a dead run just trying to make it fifty feet to cover where the sailing would be easy.
As they ran almost every other man dropped dead so that by the end of the charge the emplaced guns were gone but only 125 marines were left. It was pretty easy from there on out. The divide and conquer scheme had worked. It was time to help their allies.
As they reached the intersection of the major tunnels they found themselves looking at the back line of the enemy. Each took aim at a head and let the rounds fly.

The Squornshelan Marines moved cautiously over the last barrier after they had watched the pirate's heat signatures drop to the ground. Upon switching back to normal vision, they found that they'd been gunned down from behind. As they reached the top, they looked down at the remains of the Largentian force. Commander Ernst Zakov, the leader of the Squornshelans recognized the uniforms of the Largentian marines. He stepped down off the barrier with his hands out at his sides, pulse rifle dangling by a shoulder strap. He pulled his mask off and spoke, "Is Captain Araz still among the living?"
"I am indeed," said Araz, stepping forward. "Glad to see your force survived. The worst is now behind us. About 100 meters ahead the final assault will begin. My force will take part in a silent operation to take out as many as possibly and as quietly as possible. As soon as you hear gun fire, move and move fast. There is no room for error here."
With that the Largentians departed. There was a small barrier where emplaced guns were mounted. There were only five that posed a real threat. The Largentians took them using hand-to-hand combat, which mainly consisted of breaking skulls with the butts of guns. They then opened fire which was their allies cue.

As the first gunshots erupted, a suden barrage of heavy fire flew over the heads of the Largentians. Rockets, railgun salvos and small laser blasts tore into Pirate defenses as the regulars scrambled through rocks and rubble to find cover. While the pirates kept their heads down. The Squornshelans got into good positions to set up a crossfire, splitting into two flanking groups. The heavy weapons units directed their fire at more distant targets, aiming to destroy heavy guns and barricades. The pirates attempted to fire back, but most of the heads that popped up were met with storms of lead. As the Squornshelans climbed over a destroyed emplacement, they found themselves facing three heavy machine gun nests. Initial losses from surprised soldiers were pretty bad, but most made it to cover, where they radioed in rocket strikes. Soon, the way was open for the advance to continue.
ooc: I'm not going to have us continue with this battle for much longer since it seems a little unecissary and tedious. Also, my server is screwy so thats why I haven't been responding as quickly as I have hoped to.
The fighting continued and it was soon evident that the tide was beggining to turn in the favor of the allies. The pirates held out for no less than three hours before the battle had been reduced to looking for living pirates in the piles of the dead.
Araz stood in the mess of fallen soldiers. He was glad to know that the bulk of his force was still in tact. He wiped a little blood from his cheek and approached the Squornshelan leader and pulled him aside. "Well, we have won the battle but not the war, as you may well know. It has been requested that your ground forces travel on with the navy, although we aren't sure if we'll be needed but it is still possible. Also, you and I will be attending a meeting with our fleet admirals tommorow. I'll look forward to seeing you there."
The next day, Admiral Calza stood in his office waiting anxiously for the party to show up, there was much to tell them.

Right on schedule, Commander Zakov, Captain Gordon and Fleet Admiral Fyodor Kamarov walked into the room with their entourage. Kamarov stepped forward and extended his hand. "I'm so pleased to finally meet you in person Admiral."
After pleasantry greetings were exchanged all around, the group settled down around a planning table. "So," began Kamarov, "what information do you have for us?"
Calza smiled showing that he had knowledge that no one else had. "Well," He began, "where do I start. Well first of all we have one the major battle and have only two planets to complete our mission on. One is ours, the other is their homeworld. The second peice of information is that we seem to have some visitors." He opened a hologram. "It seems that an ancient and genious alien race with the only known method of killing these pirates have decided to stop in. We have someone contacting them, not our problem yet (I will RP that a little bit on the side. Shouldn't be a concern). Would you mind describing the extent of your fleet(s) so that we may formalize a plan now?"

Kamarov brought out a small device which projected a hologram of the Squornshelan 2nd Space Feet into the air above the table.
"As you can see," began Korov, we have one fleet here at this time, consisting of Omnivorax our flagship which is suited to destroying large targets both on the surface and in space. The Nightfall, Scythe, Fortress, Shredder and Darkness are 5 klick destroyers that serve generally the same purpose as Omnivorax We usually use them to create a crossfire for enemy vessels. We have 10 Pummel class Heavy Cruisers that are quick and manuverable but have weaponry designed to knock out enemy destroyers and other capital ships," He pointed to ten other blips scattered through the formtion. "The Tempest class is designed for anti-fighter work, but it can also dip down into the atmosphere for prescision bombardments. The 25 Pulsar class Gunships," here he pointed to the smallest vessels, "are here to cause trouble for enemies. They're very fast, so they can get around a ship to a vulnerable spot, or enter atmosphere to support ground troops." He turned to Calza and smiled, "We can call other taskforces if needed, but I'm sure our fleet will be sufficient."

We will meet up with your fleet as soon as you arrive to our planet." With that the meeting ended and Calza returned to his work.
Abaord one of the alien ships the delegate talked to the alien leader. It was soon evident that these people were little more than religious fanatics.
"You see," the alien began, "The only way to destroy such a complete evil is to obliterate everything. This is why we plan to detonate our super weapon. It will destroy all life in our system."
"Your system? You abondoned the system this is our territory. It would be illadvised to detonate anything."
"It is too late for discussions."

The LSF-Victory (http://www.wolfsshipyard.mystarship.com/Drawings/Earth/Dreadnought2.gif) was an outdated ship but it would get the job done. It was outfitted with new weapons and systems but it was still hard to control.
As the fleet neared the planet they went around to the night side. As they got satellite images they could see that the Pirates were above ground and easy targets. They had concentrated themselves between two mountain ranges. It wasn't a valley but they were vounerable. The Victory gave the fleet the orders and a bombardment began.
Then they sent a message to their allies and told them that once the bombardment was done they would move forces into the western range and carry out an ambush.

The Squornshelan fleet also opened up in bombardment. A brief message was sent, asking the Largentians to be careful with their fields of fire, as some Squornshelan ships were descending into the atmosphere. 10 of the gunboats went into the mid atmosphere to fire on troop concentrations and fortifications.
