The Repulic of Mirfak, which unified the planet of Mirfak III last year, has suspended its scheduled elections at the order of executive leader Petrovich Kolani, who cited continuing unrest in his nation as the reason for the suspension. "At this time, I feel that open elections will pose a threat to the safety of our nation and present an opportuniy for terrorists to intervene in our operations. The current leadership has proven itself competent, and I cannot allow our security to fail." In the statement, which alarmed international democratic organizations, Kolani gave no hint of when free elections might be held.
