...how this Role Playing thing works?

Is it just a question of using your imagination?

There are a couple that are good "How-To" posts. Clan Smoke Jaguar (did I get the words in the right order?) has made some good posts.

Most of CSJ's posts are more 'how to construct a modern tech MBT with the correct amount of GLACIS PLATE RHA PROTECTION RAR' than how to actually *RP*, to be fair.

True, but I believe he did write the terrorist attack post, didn't he?

ooc: It has been said many ways in many threads but basicly it is a story you and the people you are playing with make up as you go. It is nice to have an outline in mind as you go.

First you should look to join a region that does the type of Role Playing you like to do, war, character, fantasy, space. You may have to spend some time in the feeder regions (any of the pacifics you enter when creating a nation) and see what the recruitment posts are offering.

Then find someone to RP with or you can post a thead in Nation States or International Incidents saying something like "Learning RP" somewhere in the title. In that first post describe OOC: (out of character) what you want to accomplish. Then IC In-character RP the start of your story introducing your main characters.

Look at the beginning of some of the longer threads to see how they start them.

Nation States has more space and fantasy RPs, International Incidents has more war RPs.

If you don't want huge nations charging in with massive navies and armies then put that in your first post of your thread. Most of the huge nations are good RPers so you could invite them but ask that they only use a small squadron, small carrier force 1-2 only small invading force.

Once you get started don't get mad if something goes awry just work it out with the other players either with telegrams or a small OOC post.

Finally try to keep the OOC posts few and far between, and enjoy the road the RP takes. Twists and turns are what make it fun. It is a game enjoy it.

Hope this helps.
