OOC: I know its long but you can read it in bits.

Brother Gabriel looked around at the battlefield, all around him lay the slowly rotting corpses of the enemy form the battle that had taken place 3 days ago. It had been particulary bloody but by the empror it had been worth it, the Nezgae who had for centuries plagued the empire had finally been removed from the last of the 5 systems that made up the Holy empire. Gabriel looked around, his visor gave him all manner of readings of the area around him, nothing stirred.

"Chaplain this is Gabriel, sector D-52zi is clear i am about to continue my patrol"

"Gabriel once you get back report to the hierach, apparently your presence has been requested by the council" came the reply

"Why would the council ask for myself chaplian?"

"I am not sure brother but it may have something to do with the bloodshed i fear will come, not on this planet or any of our 5 systems but i felt something strange this morning."

"Very well, i will finish my patrol quickly"

At that Gabriel continued his journey, his armour quitly whirring with each step as he walked. Gabriel was one of the elite Guard of the empire, geneticly engineered to perfection he and his kind were born killing machines. Gabriel was in command of one of the chapters of the Raven. He ranked high enough to exempt himself from patrols but like every man of his rank he chose not to. The raven were a brotherhood, each man would do his duty and officers would not exempt themselves because they had a different symbol on their armour. The result, loyaty beyond qeustion and a force of fanaticle fighters that would strike fear into the enemy as they charged out the mist.

Gabriel though of the planet he had conqeured, he had seen many of his allies die. He had been there from the begining. He had stood on the bridge of the mighty capital ship Anvil as the warfleet exited slip space and loomed above the organic ships of the Nazgae. He watched as the Anvil open fire, the MAC inside the ship fired its sluf at collasal speeds the Nazgae capital ship had crumpled at the blow it was struck. Parts spewed out the gigantic hole the anvil had create as its exoskeleton buckled under the force with which it had struck. Before the enemy had had time to prepare Gabriel had watched as the ghostmaker assault ships began turning broadside and fired up the energy cannon that bristled out of their cylidrical body. As the ghostmakers began turning the energy cannon lit up the space around them, round after round after round was fired at the ships of the Nazgae and soldiers watched with glea as they burned and fell into the atmosphere. Smaller frigates began darting around what was left of the Nazgae fleet as the Anvil disgorged its fighters. The space battle had been relativly easy, they had taken them enemy by surprise and had decimated them. Now several armies of Nazgae lay stranded on Casius-6.

Gabriel paused, something had stirred in the brush. He raised his assualt cannon and strode to where he had seen the disturbance, he checked his visor for anythin that it could tell him. It detected 2 small life-forms by the wreckage of one of the human walkers, children. He found them trying to pry some of the weapons from the wreckage of the walker and grabbed them bother by there shoulders, "you should not be here, it is not safe. Where are you from?"

The children were terrifed by the 7 and a half foot Raven captian, the quivered til one of them squeaked out "we came from refugee camp 12, we we meant no harm only we wanted to gain a souvenere before this is all cleaned up"

"Children, you are to go back your camp at once. If i catch you here again i will kill you myself, you have no idea how easy it would have been for you to trigger the reactor on this craft and make it explode? I will give you 1 minute to get out of my site before i call an airstike on this position, if your not gone by then you will perish."

Gabriel watched the terrifed children run from him and smiled. He patched through to the nearest patrol ship "This is Gabriel, subject 29-JE4T, requesting shuttle to HQ"

the reply sqauwked through his helmet "Roger brother raven we are en-route to your position now"

Gabriel watched as the sleek shuttle sped toward him, its duel lascannon's sweeping over the terrain as it went to pick up the warrior. It slowed and stoped feet from gabriel, He didnt flinch. Once on board the shuttle it's engines whirred up and sped along the ground. These shuttles were the trademark of the Ghostmaker ships the Raven were famed for.

Gabriel had been on many of them as they carried him down to various planets. He thought about his most recent drop to Casius-6, he had climbed aboard one of the ones inside the Anvil and braced himself for the drop. All around him he knew that the Ghostmakers, who carried the most shuttles, would be propelling their load out the front of their cylindrical bodies and letting them free fall to the planet. The shuttles would shake violently as they hit the atmosphere and would keep accelerating till they approached the surface. Once they had reached the appropriate altitude they would fiire up their drives and slow down the decent, once just above the surface they would speed along the surface. Gabriel remembered hearing the cannon on the side of his shuttle blasting away as the line of shuttles aproached the lines of the enemy. This trade mark hard drop made sure there was no chance for the enemy to mass around a landing site, the raven would pour out of their shuttles once they were brought to a stop at the appropriate point.

Gabriel was shaken from his day dream by the shuttles abrupt stop outside the main HQ. He clambered out of it and walked toward the hierach's quaters. but was surprised when he found the heirach waiting for him. The heirach walked toward gabriel and quided him toward the space elevator "Gabriel i cannot explain what is going on now, only that you and your chater are to board the Valient and travel to the Hagen system. There you will go on to Tristam to appear before the council"

Gabriel was startled "The Valient! The flagship of the fleets is here? but why and where our my men?"

"If only I knew more, your men are already on board. The Valient was sent on behalf of the council, what it is they want i cannot say but it must be more important then anything either of us has ever witnessed in our lifetimes. Farewell brother" they had come to the base of the elevator. Gabriel walked into the chamber and paused to bow to his hierach before assending into the belly of the Valient.

Gabriel strode onto the bridge of the awesome ship and spoke to his chief Chaplain "Is everything loaded? how are the men?"

Tercuis looked up form his data slate and said "you were our last remaining item to load, the men are well. They anticipate that the council means great things for you and they pray in the halls for your success in the presence of the council"

"Very well, i will retire now. In the morning we will be above Tristam and i trust that you will have my robes ready for me.

"It has been take care of. Goodnight my lord"

Gabriel took one last look at the bridge of the Valient turned and traveled to his chamber. There he took off his armour for the first time in a month, washed and prayed to the well being of the emperor before falling asleep

The Valient burst out of slip space above the Huzeny Capital of Tristam, Gabriel was already awake and had changed into his ceremonial robes when it happened. He wandered out to the viewing deck to gaze upon the planet they were poised above before returning to his chamber. The Chaplain entered with Gabriels sword, it was black as space. All along it there were runes and on the handle there wer several flawless diamonds, each one represented a forebearer of the sword and eventually Gabriels succssesor would wield this sword while he was encrusted in the handle. Gabriel calmly took the sword and slid it into his white scabard before walking to the shuttle bay. As he walked into the bay he was astounded by what he saw, the entire chapter had lined up in full ceremonial dress. Gabriel turned to his chaplain "Why are they here?"

The chaplain smiled and replied, "They are here to see you off my lord. They wanted to wish you good luck and to honour you as their commander and brother"

Gabriel was taken aback "Well this is truly astounding. May the Emperor bless each and everyone of these mens lives"

Gabriel strode forward toward the waiting shuttle and everyone of the Raven in the bay cheered as their commander climbed up the ramp of his transport. gabriel turned and adressed the waiting men "I will return, i go to the council blessed that the men under my command are more loyal then any other in this universe! Farewell brothers" and then the doors of the shuttle shut. Gabriel took his seat and closed his eyes as the engines on the transport fired and he traveled down to the ancient capital of the Empire.

He opened his eyes once more when they were aproaching the landing zone, the Emperial palace rose out of the city and towered above all that was around it. No building they knew of yet could match it's elegance or ingenuity. It rose as a shard of glass from the city rising high into the clouds. The shuttle descended toward one of the towers highest landing ports and touched down lightly aboard the pad. Gabriel stood up and walked out into the light of Tristam, nothing could comprehend the feeling of pride he had now. As he looked around him and smelled the fresh air the doors at the end of the pad opened and a squad of templars strode out to him. The templars were the ancient guard of Emperor and council, they were roumered to be the most lethal fighting force known and Gabriel would not be surprised. The men the escorted him to the councils hall gave off a feeling of raw destructive power. He had no doubt that if ever the enemy came to Tristam that these men would put up resistance like no other.

Gabriel was ushered throught the giant oak doors that led to the meeting room, on them battles throught Huzen Hagen's history were depicted. He saw the council and imediatly went to on one knee and gazed at the floor. One of the members spok up "Rise Gabriel, you need not look away from us. Gaze upon us like a true Raven should". Gabriel slowly stood up and looked upon the council, there were five members, one for every system in the empire but Gabriel noticed that there was a 6th chair. The table the council sat at was a semi-circle and at the point furthest from Gabriel there was clearly a 6th seat for another member. He finally spoke up "The coucil summouned me, i am here. What will you have me do?"

Another counciler spoke up "Your action on Casius-6 was noted. Without you and your men the Nazgae would not have been removed from our systems. With that in mind we decided that it would be you who would be best suited for our next task. You will command a war fleet and you will lead it out of the Empire. Once there you are to begin chartering our surrounding terrain and spread the message of the Empire. If you encounter any worthy races you are to forge links and arrange trade aswell as obtine information from them. At the moment your fleet is being prepared, the Valient has been re-fitted and re-painted. It will be your flagship. Legions of troops are, as we speak, boarding ships and your chapter is to be joined by 3 others."

One of the other councilers took over "For the first time we have set up beacons on our main ports to allow merchants to find us. For centuries we have lived in darkness, unknown to the world but now we will reveal ourselves to the universe! The Nazgae are broken, we need not fear them now but we may face other threats Gabriel. As you may or may not know we have begun construction of several fortress worlds, they will be massive installations capable of fending off massive assaults by themselves. In addition each planet will have its own defensive grind with which to defend itself."

Gabriel paused wafter hearing all this, he was taken aback "Council, i will do as you say. Farewell", he turned and strode out the door. Gabriel stayed for 1 week in Tristam preparing for his encevour, all the time he checked up and carefully catalogued what forces the council had given him. He was now in command of a massive fighting force and looked forward to returning to his men. When the time finaly came to return he was astonished by the scale of the changes to the Valient. All the ships in his fleet had been painted pitch black, they were almost invisible till you got very close to them. Inside the Valient had been changed. It had been given a new suite of electronics and the interior had been changed to the colours of Gabriels chapter. He met with his Chaplain and with his men, all was ready and that night the massive fleet jumped out of Huzeny territory and into the outside world

OOC: Im looking to try and arrange an encounter with someone about now. Any takers

The AEN Halo was the first ship of it's class. It was a brand new 7km cruiser. At first glance she seemed like she was just some standard cruiser but with a clsoer look her MAC guns were missing and replaced with twin Fallen Angel cannons. "Capitain. We are exiting Phalanix charted space," the helms man said. "Thank you lt. start to chart these areas. Lets hope we don't run into any ships at this rate," the capitian replied as she looked out the main view port. "Yes capitain." This ship also had another diffrence. It had an half-elf capitain. "Commander Dekker. You have the bridge," she said as she walked towards the lift that would lead off the bridge. She was half way there when the ops officer suddenly detected a solar system with several ships around it. "Ma'am! We have several unknown ships in a solar system about one million kilometers to port," she excliamed over the other activity over the bridge. "Helm. Plot a spacefold 900,000 kilometers in the direction of the ships," the capitain said in the rus hof the moment. "Yes ma'am. Spacefold is ploted. Preparing to jump..."
Deep inside the ship the 13 Mark IX spacefold generators hummed to life producing a sickly green glowing bubble that surounded the ship and it just "winked out" of normal space into the realm of spacefolds.
Only an hour later the ship "blinked" back into existance. In the darkness of space the cruiser quickly began to blend in as the sickly green light faded away. Her pure black hull was bristling with weapons and a small fighter escort was being launched. Even the fighters seemed invisable to the naked eye.

OOC: sorry for delay, was on a trip to nottingham uni.

IC: Gabriel was on deck when the fleets scanners picked up the fleet. He was imeadiatly informed "Sire we have a foreign fleet just come out of slip space 100,000km from us. We cant detect any hostile actions but be advised they have one 7km ship"

"Very well, set a course for them. Defensive position i dont want to be taken by surprise. Keep scanning in detail as often as you can. Make sure that if they wish us harm we can reply fully as soon as they attack but i hope it wont come to that. See if you can raise them on comms, state that i would wish to speak to their captain"

"As you wish my liege"

Gabriel stared out into space and pondered his last message he had recieved from the council. Him and his fleet aswell as those of the entire Huzeny military save for the home fleet were to make themselves available for hire. The aim was to gather funds for the Empire, there was to be no political agenda behind what clients he took. It was purely for money and Gabriel knew that he was expected to toss loyalty aside and fight for the highest bidder. One problem remained, few knewof there existant yet alone what his men could do. Gabriel would need to find somewhere to demonstrate the skills of those under him. Then he would spread his name through the right channels. Maybe those who they had detected would be interested.

A "small" fleet slid out of the Webway some distance from the Hugenian fleet, in the closest non-Hugenian system from their homeworld, in face. The fleet was led by a single craft (http://arcaneorder.tripod.com/taoships/knowledge), some seventeen kilometres long, and was accompanied by a further five, much more lightly armed but considerably larger, ships (http://arcaneorder.tripod.com/taoships/psyche).

A few escort ships stood guard around the larger ships as the Ancient and Venerable Master Tovaskrin Philosophy observed, uncounted thousands of AI systems running thoughts into His ancient mind.

The primitive civilisation that controlled the system sent out their ambassadors, to no avail. Their fleets were swiftly neutralised and Harvested before the terrifying efficiency of the Ancient and Venerable Master, and their escape attempts countered with a brutal carelessness for the lives of the system's civilians.

He turned his gaze to the primary planet of the system, its population crowded into cities bursting with life, filled with biological energy. A valuable resource. Faster than the most advanced of AIs His mind gave its orders, and the Harvesters went to work.

Throughout this time the scanners of His Knowledge Class vessel detected the unknown fleets, analysing their potential and power before dismissing them.
