Surprise (The Second) [ATTN: Knootoss]

Retribution Taskforce, on approach to Knootian airspace, unannounced

She slipped through the atmosphere without touching it, yet she affected it still; it parted for her as she surged through, but now she moved slowly, in comparison to her tumultuous movement through international airspace over the Atlantic, where thunderstorms had roared wildly in her wake as the parted atmosphere smashed back into place.

Now she was not far from Knootoss, and the crew of the Retribution were not tense or uncomfortable in the least. This would be a pleasant mission, they felt sure; no guns shooting at them, no warships swooping in and destroying them, no kinetic kill missiles slamming into the ship at hypersonic velocity - nope! None of that.

And 1st Ambassador Nejure was especially glad. He had been chosen for this mission for his previous dealings with Knootoss, both through the long-defunct SATO and not; but his gladness was derived from the visit itself. He felt that the friendship with these people had been long neglected; it was not acceptable to just send military aid and not true, real, tangible good will. Indeed, Nejure was somewhat disturbed at some things he had heard regarding Knootoss; he hoped those would be put paid to in the near future.

The mission had not been announced; technically it was a state visit, with Nejure representing the Crown and the People in his twinned capacity as both Ambassador of the Commonality and of the Crown, but it was a surprise. This had been dreamed up by the Executive Council, Eru only knew why; he could see no advantage to it, but perhaps the Council members were worried that the visits might not go ahead if they didn't push for them now. Right now. This instant.

He sighed and sent the greeting message;

"Greetings Knootoss. This is 1st Ambassador Nejure speaking from the peaceful vessel Retribution on approach to Knootian airspace, requesting permission to enter to carry out the will of the People of the Commonality and the Crown on this historic state visit."
