The Hammerian Colony Station, renowned for it's near-self-sufficiency, while well-built and rather powerful, is getting a bit crowded. With the current capacity at 45 million, and the population hovering around 50 million, the Hammerian government has allocated a portion of the reserves, 30 trillion credits, to renovate and add onto the packed colony.
This addition includes three residence hall decks, each 190km wide (The entire station is 300km long). The circular portions of the decks are 87km in diameter, and all three of the large decks are attached by a large cylindrical tube, which will serve as a commercial area for shops and other services. Each deck is 750 meters tall, holding 149 floors of apartments and living quarters, and an estimated 8 million residents, or about 54,000 residents per floor, meaning each tri-deck section can hold 24 million residents, adding 48 million to the maximum capacity of the station.
The additions are expected to be fully constructed, operational and ready for occupancy in 28 years.
