Alexa Vassaretti sat at the desk of her new office drinking a glass of Canadian Mist & Coca-Cola when her Foreign Affairs minister Jennifer Jourgenson came into the office. "Ms. President I would like to ask you to consider opening our embassies so that we may resume diplomacy with some of the nations out there. Since the closure of our embassies in 2219 we have been relatively isolationist and have almost gone to war with the Menelmacari during our so-called 'Cold War' with the Americans on our eastern border. We need allies more now than ever, we needed them alot during our expansionist era but have slowly calmed down in the intake of dependencies after Iran, Oman and Yemen... we have troops in the Gulf of Aden that were waiting for the 'go ahead' to go into Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somaliland but with Sandra's leave of office we have freezed all overseas military operations until the election was over with."
Alexa looked up from her drink and smiled, got up from her chair and walked to her window looking out over the city and the Pacific Ocean to the west. "You have to admire the things Sandra has done in the last five hundred years as President of the Californian Federation, of course she cleaved off a portion of the United States of America and created a nation from it... that took guts... and fighting a decade long war over the rights of independence secured by the Los Angeles-St. Louis Accord... that only made things better. No one has dared to stand in the way of the United States save the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics at its peak from 1949 to 1991... but now we even have the Soviets as allies. So yes, I totally agree with you on the issue of the Californian Federation needing allies... I authorize you to re-open our embassies to everyone, be sure to talk to the Chellians as we are pacted with them in some fashion and talk to the Soviets/Russians about re-opening their embassy here in Greater Los Angeles... I miss talking to the Soviets those bastards."
Jennifer took that down in her planner as she smiled "I will have our foreign affairs department on this immediately." and left the office. Sitting back down in her chair at the desk she flipped on the Comms Screen and dialed General Marcus Vaughter of the Sovereign Californian Army. "General Vaughter what is our status on the Chimera Biological Weapon? I know that funds for the research on this weapon was freezed with the moratorium that was placed on nuclear, biological and chemical weapons research in 2219, seeing that I signed into legislation a bill that reppealed the law on production of Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Weapons we the funds should have been thawed we should be able to begin the production of weapons again..."
General Vaughter stood for a minute "Before the moratorium was put in place by the Parliament we were about fifty-nine percent done with the project... Our laboratories at the San Mateo Naval & Air Force Base have been relatively lucky in their production efforts, by the summer of next year we should have Chimera produced and available for delivery by cruise missile." Alexa took a sip from her drink and nodded "Thank you General Vaughter, and your biological weapons team for their efforts... we hope to see some progress in the next few months. I will see you in person when the production is finished... Out!"
Sandra turner her chair to face the Pacific and smiled... "If only Sandra could be here for this moment."
