[[OOC: The basic idea of this RP is the remnants of New Lakedaimon searching for a new home. Feel free to join in, either as a benign or malign influence, a ship might run into the Lakedaimonian Fleet or the Fleet might unintentionally cross someone else's boundary. Your call.]]

Act One, Scene One: Long Live the King

King Idochides gazed out of the flagship Arrow of Apollo at the starry expanse of space, silently lamenting the loss of the Sparta System. He should have fought until the end, sacrificed himself and his Fleets in a last attempt to win a victory over seemingly impossible odds. His ancestors had done it before, but this time it was not against a foe that could be defeated.

He turned back to the red-shrouded body that lay upon a marble slab within the room and picked up the short xiphos bladegunlying beside the corpse. Gently he placed the weapon over the breast of the last remains of Telemos, King of Sparta. In a few short hours a new King would be appointed, and Lakedaimon would once again have its two kings. Idochides pulled back the shroud to reveal the noble face of the King and gently placed two steel coins on his eyes.

"To pay the ferryman, my friend and comrade-in-arms"

He turned to the assembled Equals who stood in full battle regalia, eight-footer heavy rifles held in one hand, xiphos sheathed at their hips.

"He was the best of us. Here, obedient to our laws he lies. We shall not see his like again"

So saying he pulled the shroud over the dead man's face - a man who had died in the defence of the Spartiate homeland and whose body had been recovered by the last Citizen refugees to leave.

He turned and walked out of the room as the warriors placed the King into his sarcophagos and slid into the Vault with the others who had died, into the Vault until they could be buried in the soil of a new homeland.

Scene Two: Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori

Kind Idochides sat calmlyin the baording craft with a full syssitia, patiently waiting for the enemy to arrive. The light inside the small craft gleamed off his bronze-coloured, silver chased storied power armour, and when combined with coursing energy made the crimson of his force-shield look as though it was soaking in blood. Proud Lambda, symbol of Ancient Lakedaemon, stood white against bloody background. Held vertical in his right hand was the eight-footer heavy energy rifle, its gleaming point effective as both firearm and speartip. His xiphos gunblade rested in a sheath bolted to the power armour covering his thigh.

His pale eyes surveyed his warriors, whose armour was being sealed and checked over by helots even as the Spartiates went over their weapons yet again. Each of them from a noble family of Equals, they had all proved their worth in the last war, before the Exodus

Idochides had known that They would send a small force to pursue and harry the Lakedaimonian fleet, and had taken action accordingly once they reached a node that they believed to be unclaimed. So now the Spartiate fleet was hidden within the asteroid belt, boarding craft waiting in the shadows of the asteroids.

It was perhaps half an hour later that their enemy arrived in ships that slid through the starry expanse. King Idochides smiled as he heard the readout from the Arrow of Apollo's AI and waited for the foe to divert power for the next jump before ordering the attack.

Dozens of boarding craft moved through the blackness of space, cutting through the nothingness faster than most would have believed possible - certainly faster than They were expecting, as the ships frantically re-diverted power from jump apparatus to guns. But too late.

Idochides' craft slammed into the side of the largest enemy ship, specially designed nose drilling its way through thick armour plating to release a disciplined phalanx of Spartan Equals with force-shields held high, energy crackling over their metal. The bronzed Lakedaimonian warriors advanced, looking less like men than instruments of death, with each moving in step with the others. At command silent to those not wearing Spartiate power armour the eight-footers dropped into the combat position in perfect unison, energy fire bursting from their tips and slamming into the defenders while the vast majority of return fire was deflected by shield and power armour.

Throughout the other ships the same was occurring, with Spartan warriors moving with discipline to eradicate all resistance as they worked their way up to the Bridge, literally walking over piles of enemy fallen. In pitched battles in Space the Lakedaimonian fleet was vulnerable, with most of its warfleets destroyed by Them, but it was a foolish foe indeed who allowed even one boarding craft to make contact with their ships.

Soon after, the Lakedaimonian fleet moved away from the node and onto the next...with five more ships.

Mean wile the UFS enterprise –F was escorting an orbith class star ship around the area …

Rob sitting back on his chair looking over to his xo “I hate escorting ambassadors it seems like Starfleet never has any thing useful for us to do ..

the 2 ships slowly hummed along at impulse scanning for any sign of other ships ..

Rob yawned a bit his xo said “you should get some sleep captain .. it will be a long trip ..” rob shrugged and said meh “ ill be fine besides I don’t wan any thing happening to my ship wile I’m dozing off “ the xo smiled a bit shaking his head “well at least we don’t have to worry about you flying this again “ rob said shocked “what’s wrong with my piloting skills!”
the xo chuckled and said leaning back a bit “ nothing , nothing ..”
Rob sat back and sighed briskly ordering the helm “continue on our course scan for any ships … in the area.. “ with that the helms men responded they started scanning .. (sorry for the short post I have to go )

Act Two, Scene One: New friends, or new enemies

If the scanners detected the Lakedaimonian Fleet it would give them no small shock...the number of ships was far greater than almost any war fleet.

Indeed, as further analysis would indicate, the number of warships was fairly small - disproportionately so, with the vast majority of vessels lightly armed transports or trading craft. It was an entire people on the move.

The design of the ships seems to be mixed between two varieties, the most prominant are sleek bronze and crimson coloured vessels, their warships apparently designed to get in close to deliver boarding parties than to engage in conventional conflict. The other design is also smooth, much armed with long range weaponry designed to inflict damage at a distance. These latter types are far fewer, and bear iconography very different to the proud lambda of the Spartan ships - all of these ships bear battle damage, as if taken in conflict.

King Idochides of New Lakedaimon stood aboard the bridge of the Arrow of Apollo, looking over the scanner results.

"Two craft, both of unknown origin, O King. One a warship, other of unknown designation. Both moving on standard engine drives, without FTL engaged. They certainly do not belong to Them, O King."

Idochides nodded to the Equal manning the controls before returning to his seat at the helm, musing on the problem - two ships, both unknown origin. Of course, they would not be able to withstand the entire fleet - not with it all gathered in one place - but they would almost certainly have forces at their disposal if attacked.

The King shrugged.

"No aggressive action, hailing systems open. If they notice us, which they will if they aren't complete fools, we will speak to them amicably. If not, we do not need to trouble them with our presence...and vice-versa."

OOC: Conveniently enough, TFU can be bringing ambassadors to me, we are in the same union after all.

IC: The Æther was heavy that day, Riptide was nearly undetectable unless you knew where it was, never the less, the Slivers in the observatory were still alarmed to see a massive Space Fleet trailing TFU ships. Now the Slivers knew TFU could take care of himself, but they still wanted to let him know about the massive fleet behind him.

{This is the Astral observatory on Riptide to the Enterprise. We must Alert you to a Massive Fleet behind you, planetary defenses will be active.]

{This is the Astral Observatory on Riptide to the Massive Space Fleet, please state your business in our territory.]

Word was released about the ships, The Queen Sliver ordered the Slivers to Pray the Æther into an energy barrier. Within minuets, their prayers were granted.

In the darkness of space the AEN Lost Shadow felt right at home. She was a first of the line Dark Eye stealth destroyer easily being a decent length of 7km her pure black hull seemed to slide through the darkness like a sharp knife through flesh. To her captain she was a jewel. To the AE she was an icon of power. To her crew she was home.
"Captain we have a gathering of ships. The computer is currently crossing the scanners information with ships that Phalanix has encountered," the ops officer said breaking the silence in the rather large bridge. "Thank you lt. Send the results to my station when you get them," she replied. "Yes ma'am. The results should be here in a secon....shit. There is a TFU ship in the group," the lt said as his voice cracked. Most of the crew was still fresh out of the multiple academies around Blue Dawn with the exception of a few officers. "Great....," she muttered as she grabbed the com unit and hit the transmit button for a ship wide announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen. We have a TFU ship on sensors and a smaller group of ships as well. We are moving in to investigate. So all hands prepare for stealth operations and possible ship to ship combat. If it does turn messy remember this: no one is left behind."
All throughout the ship the crew were moving to there battle stations. Marines and AE units began to head to the multiple armouries on the ship to prepare for the worst. Even then the bridge crew could feel the demanding sense of power as a small group of AE entered the bridge taking up positions where they would be of use. The ones in the shadows simply vanished while others prepped there weapons. The captain reached over to the side of his command chair and pulled out a small wrist piece and slipped it on. It was standard procedure for a captain to have a plasma blade on them at all times.

He moved in his chair sighing and said, “I wish they’d hurry up with that damn transmission!”

Ops sat at his station looking at scanners... the Enterprise was moving slower now its shields still up, as the ship was still at yellow alert .

Rob looked over to ops and said “scan ahead I want to know what the Orion is heading in to… to see if we have any other ‘friends’ out there” the ops officer nodded and started scanning briskly pressing buttons.

Idochides laughed as he heard the message.

"Massive Space Fleet, interesting choice of terminology. Might even be someone other than a damned diplomat speaking."

He flicked open a channel to reply to the message-sender.

"This is King Idochides of New Lakedaimon aboard the Spartiate vessel Arrow of Apollo to the Astral Observatory on Riptide. Our business is just that - our business. Rest assured that it does not include warring upon you, we are merely passing through and have no intention of attacking you - as you should be able to detect, we are not a warfleet."

A grim smile appeared on the Spartan King's face as he turned off the system.

"Let's see what they make of that. With luck they'll decide to leave us alone, or else not decide to attack us."

A short pause as he thought.

"None the less, tell the Equals to be ready for an attack - they have done nothing to stop us so far...and I have left our channels open, but we do not know if these people are like Them or not."

The Fedral Union

The Spartan King shrugged as he read the message from the nearby(relatively speaking) ship. Quietly he ordered his communications-officer to open a closed link to the vessel, and spoke calmly, voice carrying the calm confidence of a battle-proven King.

"Enterprise-F. This is King Idochides of New Lakedaimon aboard the Spartiate vessel Arrow of Apollo. We are not following you and have no intentions of firing upon you. I can assure that if we were intending to engage we would have already done so. I cannot claim to lead a peaceful people, but by my word, we are not currently engaging in military matters."

Switching off his voice-receiver he sat back in his command seat, waiting calmly for a response.

Phalanix

Perhaps a small blip appeared on the screens of the Lakedaimonian ships, and perhaps they did not. But either way, almost all attention was focused on the Spartiate Fleet itself, or the ships closer, and a single vessel that far away was ignored in favour of the current potential threat.

"if you require any assistance of any kind we would like to help you., also if you want to com aboard and discus any thing with me on my ship or vice versa ill be glad to set some thing up bastidas out" .

with that the captain sat back in his chair looking to ops and saying .
“keep us with them and tell the ship carrying the ambassador to warhaven to go on with out us its only a few minutes to there planet any way.

With that the ops officer sent the signal .. the UFS little horn moved quickly towards war heaven space hailing the station “this is the UFS big horn we request permission to dock .”

The Transmission was intercepted and redirected to the Queens Cavern. The Queen thought about it and replied.

" I am her Magesty the Sliver Queen. Please forgive our caution, We have never had an entire country pass through our system before. Why don't we slither on this opertunity to have a quick get together, you, me, and TFU, who I am sure has contacted you by now. "Ma'am. We are picking up another group of ships. This group is more or less damaged. They are currently ignoring us," the ops officer spoke again. "Thank you. Alert the crew to prepare for stealth operations. I want the ECM and the jammers online within minutes. Also prep the new particle displacement system. Let’s give it a field test while we are at it," she said as she strolled along the bridge watching the main view screen. She was never at ease with the fact they put her incommand of a stealth destroyer and not a cruiser or something else.
Outside the ship small vents opened up and began to "spray" small clouds of particles that began to bend light even though the ship still showed up on sensor to the human eye she was invisible. Only minutes later did the ECM come online totally rendering her invisible but also unable to fire.
"Particle displacement running at 100%. We should be able to keep the hull 'invisible' for about six to eight hours at best," the stealth system operator alerted the captain.

OCC:Think of the PDS as a stealth generator. The only draw back is that it can't fire while the PDS is online without risking the particles that are sitting on the hull flying off in the wake weapons fire

However, they can also sense Intellegent minds even if they can't see them. As well the Ancestors are very much respected, although the chances of it happening are small, a Spectral Sliver may appear on your bridge if you head towards Riptide. Spectral Slivers are the Ghosts of deceased Slivers. And, this is important, The Æther sheild glows a bright orange and does cover the entire planet. Thats why the Spectral Slivers caused TFU's ship to Glow orange, It has been covered in a layer of Æther inside and out to protect his ship from disentegrating in the sheild and weakening it, while still allowing him to pass through as though it did not exist.

Mean wile the ambassador on the orbith class sat back drinking his tea as the ship moved in to dock with a station in orbit . the crew mean wile was working quietly scanning and categorizing stars and what not wile they were waiting . the ship docked with a loud clack whoosh sound ..

The ambassador mean wile talking already with some of his advisors said “Well I must go now to meet my new collogues! “
The other random offices nodded as the ambassador got up and walked slowly out of the ready room his shoes taping and shuffling on the floor

The ambassador walked slowly in to a turbo lift sighing and tol the computer , “deck 4 docking bay “ with that the turbo lift beeped and the turbo lift emitted a maniacal grinding sound as it moved down with in a few moments it stopped , the ambassador shuffled out then taped along walking towards the docking port on the ship .

He nodded to some officers standing there waiting to escort the young man about 25 .. but looked like he was 30 due to stress . the port doors opened the ambassador clanked slowly .. towards the other door walking out in to the station looking around his 2 guards closely fallowing hi with hand phasers . the crew on the ship slowly worked as the ambassador smiled at the 2 guards and waited for his “welcoming committee “

Mean wile on the enterprise – f , the crew worked silently as rob sat back saying “I hope nothing will go wrong ..” his xo smiled at him sipping coffee “well it would not be the first time “ un known to them that the Phalanixian ship was there .. the ship slowly sat in space as rob and his xo talked about the ships charms and cons .. engineers and crew men quietly and briskly walked back and forth and around the bridge taping on console they beeped as they did so . others laughed .. the crew was obviously on edge due to the recent sittings of un known things in this space.

The Sky Dock, the only Space station Riptide had, was, as it name said, was an uninhabited Dock. Inside where the Ambassador and his guards sat. Plush chairs sat for Humanoid creatures. A Statue of King Warfare sat in prominence in the center of the Round room. The Walls and FLoor were Steel, and Bare. Running around the edge of the Room however, beginning and ending at the Door the Ambassadoor entered was a Statue of The Queen Sliver, from which all the light came in. A window focused upon Riptide, obscured to all outside the Æther barrier, Large collums of Æther shooting up from the planet to supply the Barrrier. Until it was clear that there was no threat to the planet, the sheid would remain in place. Suddenly without Warning, 15 Spectral Slivers appeared in the Room, all of the a ghostly white.
one of them drifted forward upon the air and said in a voice that sounded as though it came from the depths of a tomb:
"Welcome to Riptide, the Queen awaits you. when you are ready we will take you and your guards to the Surface."

IC:
In the main hanger the center of action was the recent addition to the fighters. The VBR-4 was only being assembled when the ship entered stealth mode and now it was going to be used in a key role it seemed. The fact the thing now carried twin 65mm tri-barrel smoothbore auto-cannons made it a brutal killing machine. Even worse though it now was equipped with a 50mm ship grade auto-cannon to replace one of its hands. Literally this fighter alone was a more effective than a squadron of VBR-3's. The pilot though wasn't as excited to fly it. He never had liked space combat much. "Hey commander we almost got the PDS ready. But you will have to keep the fighter below Mack 5 to keep the thing cloaked," one of the techs said to the pilot.

"Oh, and...slither?"

That last said with one eyebrow raised, and chuckles from the crew once the comms is turned off. These "slivers" had some unusual terminology, at least to the relatively plainspoken Spartiates.

In contrast to the edginess of the TFU crew, the Spartans sat calmly at their controls, whatever they were feeling personally. No movement of their faces could be noticed, save when they spoke, or the brief moment of humour at the Queen's choice of words.

Their confidence might have been due to the impressively sized fleet arrayed behind them, relatively few dedicated warships, true...but every Lakedaimonian vessel was armed, if lightly compared to the true military craft.

IC: I Understand, it is obvious you know knothing about us, therefore I must tell you that I would need a very large space to accomidate my body, for you see, I, as all Slivers are, am Snake like in nature, except I am a very large Sliver. When I lay flat on the ground, my body is 12 feet high, and aproximatly 180 feet long I can raise my self to half that in heighth, and thus will be unable to attend, I also have to very long arms that end in two very sharp talons. Thus you can see I cannot fit in what my children tell me to be most common meeting rooms. However, I can send my children to represent me, or, I can pray to our God and request that he bend the laws of reality and either connoct your meeting room with my Cavern, or, somehow shrink me temporarily. "Can you share our powers?" a Synapse Sliver asks calmer than the rest of the crowd.

Once again, the response was calm and measured, rich voice reverberating across the comms system.

"I understand. We are perfectly willing to accept one or more of your children to speak with us, unless you wish to hold a meeting within a storage bay."

"In that case, you will be most welcome, President Bastidas. I do not mind what time you arrive, if by transferrance craft any of our docking ports will work. If you are using a teleportation system, co-ordinates for our unshielded gate room will be sent upon request...I highly reccomend using the gate room unless you wish to arrive as red liquid - our shields are designed to disrupt invading forces but unfortunately cannot be powered-down without removing certain key systems."

"After reviewing my timetable, it may not be wise for me to leave, it is almost time for me to shed my skin, a most unpleaseant experience. Instead, I shall send an Overlord Sliver along with a few other species. besides, I have travled in Cargo bays before, and I find them to be cramped and small. My children, most assuredly, can fit most anywhere though. I shall send my children instead, there they can explain all about us. They shall arrive within the hour."

A ship could be seen emerging from the Æther barrier, specially designed to withstand the Æther. The ship was about 15 KM tall, 14 KM wide, and 30 KM long and looked like a giant snake flying in space, and actually slithered like one as it moved forward. The ship also had to sections that appeared to be two arm like sections with a sharp talon attached to the end. the words S.S. Weatherlight glowed on its side.

"This is the Sliverese ship the S.S. Weatherlight requesting permission to dock." A voice could be heard hissing in fluent English.

Out of the darkness of space the lone VBR-4 burst out of the hanger. During the launch however the ECM field went down to permit the magnetic accelerator to be used. During that split second a small crack in the PDS system began to form along the hull. Slowly the system began to repair the hole in the particle field but not before the possibility of someone seeing the destroyer were decent. However the VBR-4 was different. The rather bulky PDS node that the techs strapped on to its hull was a perfect target if it hadn't been activated. Inside the cockpit the commander began a quick munitions check to ensure that he was ready for combat if the need arises. Just as the PDS finished covering the fighter the ECM came online. To sensors the VBR-4 would now just look like a small error unless they got close enough to notice that the error was moving. On the Lost Shadow other fighter squadrons were being prepped for possible combat. The crew was for more tense than normal. The risk of being captured was high if the PDS failed but the pay off this mission might hold was equally worth the risks.

Rob smiled and said threw the comn “ well I can beam over right now then “ in a brisk moderate voice . rob nodded to his ops officer and tactical .. he started shuffling down to the turbo arriving moments later at the transporter room passing by people talking.

Ops looked at his scanners and said to the XO who was left in charge “sir were detecting some thing it looks like a ship but we cant tell form this distance..” the xo sighed and said lunch a probe .. wit that the operations officer launched a long sleek probe not to big .

The probe flew towards the unknown readings relaying back information to the enterprise . Rob mean wile clanked and shuffled on to the pad taping noises emitting from his boots.

Rob nodded to his quarter man .. the quarter man taped a few buttons quietly and quickly .. rob began to shimmer his blue particles dematerialized in a stream of energy .. a few seconds later he materialized on the bridge of the other ship his particles streaming back in to place blue light emitting .

In a single instant the VBR-4 unleased a small spray of death from it's 50mm auto-cannon. As it did the PDS feild aroudn the fighter burst away in a shimmer of silver particles. Seconds later the PDS began once more pumping out particles to cover the hull once more. As it did the fighter flew directly back to the Lost Shadow slowly vanishing into nothing once more.

"Permission granted"

Authorisation given by the King, and action carried out by one of his lieutenants, the docking mechanism hissed open, allowing access to the ship. Once crossing over a visitor would find him/herself inside a large room, the ceiling unnecessarily supported by tall pillars. Waiting inside is a Lakedaimonian officer in full battle array - a symbol of respect, and one that makes the warrior seem more than a little impressive with bronzed power armour gleaming, red crest swaying slightly with small movements and crackling force-shield and eight-footer.

Rob Bastidas would arrive inside a circular room, supported by pillars once again in an imitation of classical Greek style. The floor appears to be made of a marble-like material but much stronger than the stone. The ceiling contains a circular viewing port directly above the gating-ring (the area that he would beam into) that gives a view of space, and of the large fleet that it helps to defend. There are only two doors to the room, obviously heavy bulkheads, but several defensive turrets jutting from the ceiling both around the gating-ring and the doors. The turrets are, however, deactivated at present.

Standing opposite where the President would appear stands a Spartan Officer, in full array as with the soldier awaiting the Sliverese diplomat. Once Bastidas has materialised, the Lakedaimonian walks forward and nods, a slight gesture of his bronzed helmet.

"Welcome to the [I]Arrow of Apollo, O President. I will take you to King Idochides where he is meeting with the two Ephors aboard-ship, and where the Sliverese ambassador will meet yourself and our King."

The S.S.Weatherlight moved in slowly to the docking bay, a giant talon section extended out and touched the floor, a giant hiss escaped the ship as most of it powered down. A strange being wobbled down the ship, it's main color was gold, with some gray, it had five seprate heads attached to five seperate necks with only one large body shared by the heads, it was much like looking at a barrel, with each head looking in a diffrent direction, at the bottom, five tails were swinging in various directions, five arms could be seen folded gently across the body, the talon, hidden in the crook of the next arm, it was a symbol of peace. when the strange being reached the bottom it was clearly obvious it was not an ordinary Sliver, at least as the Queen had discribed, all five heads turned and fixed upon the soldier, it was no obvious that each head was a seperate color.
"I am the Overlord Sliver." the green head said.
"I have been sent directly from her magesty The Queen Sliver." the blue head said.
"I apoloigize if I frighten or confuse you.". the red head said.
"For I only have one brain, one mind to share among five heads." the white head said
" I was geneticly tested into this state by the ones that preceeded us, the BORG. Shall we move on to greet the king or are you the king?" The black head asked.
