Pop culture unleashed on Pantocratoria!

The excitement in the air was palpable. The Ministry of Cultural Development's powers to censor and restrict the entry of foreign music, movies, and ideas into Pantocratoria had finally been removed by the new Pantocratorian Socialist Alliance Government. For the first time people were free to listen to modern music, music which expressed ideas the establishment didn't want them to hear, rock music, pop music, jazz, the blues, anything. Virtually a whole century of foreign music had been forbidden, and now for the first time, Pantocratorians were to be allowed to listen to anything they wanted. Watch any movie they wanted. Dress in any fashion they wanted. Express any opinion they wanted.

Thousands of excited teenagers and young adults flocked to music stores and to offices selling tickets to concerts. They flooded clothing stores, which were incapable of keeping up with the demand for the now unrestricted fashions. Young women in short skirts and young men in board shorts suddenly appeared everywhere, even though it was Winter in Pantocratoria. Cinemas were packed for even the most tedious of foreign feature films.

The biggest show in town was scheduled for a few days time. The Imperial Government had invited musicians from all nations and all styles to New Rome to put on a free performance at the Constantine XXIII Stadium. The pay offered was extremely generous, but perhaps even more enticing to foreign artists would've been the prospect of exposure in a new market - the virgin ears of Pantocratoria.

OOC: If you would like to send along musicians from your nation, please post some details here (some brief bio details about the musician, a description of style, maybe lists of albums or songs).

The Three Mariahs turned up. They were three classical violinists who dressed like their Queen and were head turners just like the Queen. Their figure hugging short dresses made them popular with their fans and as pin-ups for young Catholic boys (alongside images of the Queen).
