*in their spare time the Snub Nose 38 Hooligans were rumaging around in the equipment locker, and lo and behold! they found ice skates.
and hadn't a clue what to do with them...
but then a cold snap hit, and the Sten river was frozen for days. some "smarter-than-the-average" Hooligan looked at the river, then the skates...then the river...then the skates.
then a passerby in burgundy robes and a midnight blue hooded cape leaned over and whisered in his ear.*
- Put them on your feet, idiot, and go out on the river.
*so he put them on.
after taking them back off, and putting them on the right feet, he went out on the river.*
- BONK! -
*after a few weeks some of the Hooligans began to get the hang of it. then, as they dug through the pile of ice-skates looking for the right sizes, they found, behind the skates, some very strange looking pads, and odd little helmets.*
Well, having made a short story long...the Snub Nose 38 Hooligans would like to try their hand at World Cup Hockey.
*or, maybe they should try their feet...*
Pterodactylus
01-12-2004, 18:30
We are going to apply. Our nation is fairly fond of hockey, and we want to get the Pterodactylus team involved on an international level. :)

Cantano-Terpsichor
02-12-2004, 08:25
Let's have a go at this. The Cantano Chanting Saints have recently defeated the Terpsichor Warbonds for the C-T Cup, and so would like to participate.
Druida will be back again, possibly with a hosting bid, probably not.

Bah! It would have been fun to play a hooligans team wearing ice skates on grass!Well, it all depends on whether or not we can sell these flippin' skates. No sale, no cash to buy some decent boots, and we may have to send 'em out there in skates after all...
Adam Island
02-12-2004, 21:54
A band of high school dropouts sits outside the Adam County Library at 6:30 am. They had just been given 500 Jay each to join the Adam Island National Field Hockey Team. As soon as the library opens, they will enter and try and find out just wtf field hockey is...

Well, if you didn't get a host in that last 12 minutes since your previous post, I guess there's no hope at all

Nah, I hated 'field' hockey at school, and after hosting the football WC20, I don't fancy hosting owt else, thankyou.

Thanks for bumping this up, I'll go through the list of nations to find possible ex-nations in a second. Druida's hosting bid still stands.
It... does... hosting... blimey, better get the stadiums ready again...
*Suggests to LE that it might be a good idea to telegram those already signed up, as this thread was started up over two and a half months ago, and many might have changed their minds since then.*

Hockey Canada can't host... no clue on scorinating or we don't have the fields. Ice isn't good enough to play I'm guessing.

so, when will the thread start?
Well, we have 16 participants...and I don't think anyone else is going to join...so...give me some time to get myself in order (couple of important RL things this week) and we'll start on Saturday. M'kay?
(P.S. Signup is now CLOSED!)
If you wanted to do some pre-tournament RPs, I'll put up a thread soonish.

Oh, in case you wondering, format is two groups of eight, play each other once, top four progress to knockout stages. Any other questions? And are there a set of rankings I can use?
