Natalya Summons GDODAD to Greifsgrad

Communique to All Members of The Global Dominion of Dictators Against Democracy
My dear friends;
I write this in the spirit of commradery and common interest, and do hope that you will all take the time to carefully consider my words. We have as an organization been long dorment, the universe has perhaps forgotten us, we have effectively become a relic of the past. We have indeed only ourselves to blame for this state of affairs, each and every single one of us has in his or her own way contributed to the general stagnation which we currently suffer. I myself have been long dorment, perhaps I have become bloated and decadent due to the heights which I have achieved. Of late, I have spent more and more of my time pondering these hard truths, and I have become overcome by a most unsettling shame. We were once a great and proud alliance, the world did tremble before our might, and carefully listened to our words, and observed our actions. I say to you that this does not have to be left in the past. We may rise again, as a pheonix from the ashes, to reclaim our former position of power and influence. All that would be necessary to achieve this end is your own will, your own actions. I would issue a challenge to all of you, my friends. I challenge you to shake off the dust of dormency, and to join me in orchestrating the rebirth of our ancient and honored alliance. I challenge you to once again plunge into that tireless struggle for your own power and glory. I challenge you to make GDODAD great again.
I invite you all to my own seat of power, the city of Greifsgrad on the Industrial Planet of Brass Rails, for the purpose of gathering together and reforging the old ties. There is much we must discuss, many plans to be made and agreements to be reached. If my words move you, if I have stirred any kind of feeling in you, if you would help me retake that which was once ours, I implore you to answer my summons, and join me in Greifsgrad without delay. I pray that this message of mine shall mark a new beginning for all of us, that you too feel that which stirs me, and that you will join me on this most noble of missions. I eagerly await your replys.
Yours in arms,

We were not there in the glory years of the GDODAD but have long heard of its power. After being given the chance to become a member and then accepted as one. I feel that this is the right course of action for the alliance! I will attend myself and am currently enroute. Also while we ourselves have been active since our making in this great world of ours we believe that yes. Maybe you have lost touch with the world and that is why this formerly great alliance has fallen from power. But given the chance we'd gladly stand by those that accepted us when none would. Fight and die among our collective brethren, bath in the blood of our foes, and stand among those that will lose if it should come to pass. For we are allies... no more than that. Pregreif extended a hand to us and since then many other hands have been extended. As the youngest and smallest and weakest member of the GDODAD we know that a large role will not be ours but pray for the day when it will. Words escape me now but I am coming and I dream of when the names of our collected nations are feared by everyone large and small. Let this be known we do not falter in our loyalties.

To King Linfield Hannon of Camel Eaters
My Lord,
I must say that I was moved by your response to my summons. Indeed, if the remainder of our allies possess even half the heart, drive, and passion which you have displayed, our nations and our alliance will reach as yet unimagined heights. We are currently making preperations for your arrival, so that we may best receive you, our newest of allies, in Greifsgrad. I must say that I myself look forward to making your aquaintence, as we have not yet met, and I harbor a great curiousity as to the kind of man I have befriended. We look forward to your arrival, friend. May you have a safe and pleasant journey.

As Fredrick read the message sent from Presgreif, his planetary shuttle was already being prepared to take him up to the Barbarosean Space Docks. A GDODAD summons, taking after Metus I see... He knew that this would be intresting to see how many "loyal" subjects reunite in Greifsgrad. He started typing a letter to Natalya. It read:
Dear Natalya,
I am pleased to hear that you have taken the initiative to call together the sleeping giant that is the GDODAD. I am further pleased with your summons because it is exactly what both TGI Bob and myself have been wanting to do. As you may already know, I have been abnormally busy with many internal affairs, and the mobilization of the GDODAD military for Metus. I am aware that your summons falls on a bad time for some, and that we mustn’t set our goals too lofty. I do not expect every national leader their, nor do I foresee even some of the most senior leaders showing. For the time being, I will plan to arrive first, because I want to test out our new technology, recently acquired from the JIDA collapse. If you would send me your general location and precise co-ordinance, that would be great. Until we meet,
Fredrick Barbarosea III

To the Lady Natalya,
I am a simple man and as such do not require great dwellings. Anything you have to offer is fine and I would be most pleased to meet the goddess of Presgreif. I firmly believe that this summons will awaken an ancient feeling of cammraderie and loyalty to what the GDODAD once was. All I ask is a sturdy bed, fresh camel meat, and some Guiness. If the lady would be so kind. Thank You.

A messenger ran up to the Comrade, as if the city were under attack, and the palace was about to be pillaged.
"Comrade, it seems we got a notice from Presgreif about a meeting of the GDODAD members. They're trying to re-build the former alliance, from what I can tell."
The Comrade read the notice, and gave a slight smile.
"Finally, some good news. GDODAD is finally going to be re-activated. Prepare my private jet for our departure."
"Yes, Comrade."
Letter to Presgreif
I have been waiting for this message for many years, in hopes that the former GDODAD Alliance would be revived and raised to its old influence and status among the world. I am on my way to Greifsgrad currently to attend this meeting to patch up old strains, and to start anew. Ahh....I remember the olden days of GDODAD. We were a new nation at the time, but we marveled at the immense power with which it held, and we sought to attain this sort of power, among those nations. Finally, in time, we became a part of it. Unfortunately, it was bad timing on our part, due to the decline of the Alliance as a whole. We never felt exactly what it was like to be part of such an influential part of the world. Now, we have the chance again, and will not let it pass by.
Der Fuhrer Dyszel
28-11-2004, 06:09
Stadt des Meeres, the silent city stationed farthest within The Dictatorship, farthest from all other nations, stood proudly on the border of the land, the ocean silently lapping and stretching out far into the distance. The air was crisp and cool, and a sole diplomat walked along the shore listening to the waves striking softly along the white sand. He stopped, stooping to pick up a small clam shell. It was purple, with a hint of orange. He sighed as he placed it into the pocket of his jacket, keeping his hands within the pockets to protect them against the chill in the air.
He knew of the events earlier that day, Der Fuhrer passing out after a mysterious phone call, the discovery of Lady Lux's dead body, the disappearance of seven exemplorary children. His daughter was among the seven missing, and as he paced the silent and vacant beach, his memories slid back to years before.......when this nation was proud and strong, deadly and powerful; when the world they lived in was never dull or boring; when his daughter had to hold his finger to keep steady as she stooped over to pick up all the purple shells while her mother, his wife, held a bucket full of purple shells that their daughter had already picked up.
His mind unknowingly went back to the knowledge he now possessed; a meeting at Greifsgrad.......the resurrection of GDODAD. Although the nation had been long involved in the matters of GDODAD; few times had the nation acted due to current status of the nation. In his mind this meeting needed to be attended.......in his mind, The Dictatorship needed this meeting more then anything.
He turned his heel and headed back to his house, taking in a deep breath and exhaling slowly. If he could not convince Der Fuhrer to go, then he knew he would go, even if alone. The nation was dead and he knew as long as they remained inside their shell that nothing would ever be accomplished.

Deep within the confines of Greif's Tower there is a room bristling with holographic monitors, controls, and information feeds. This room is the nerve center of the Thousand Eyes Information Network (TEIN), a system which assembles the billions of transmissions received everyday from old fashion satellite monitoring units, from the state-of-the-art Great Eye planetary combers, from the hundreds of vessels of the Greifan Armada, from the Tekayents, and from countless other sources, and combines them into a constant flow of information ready to be viewed by any who have the clearance to access the network. TEIN is the eyes and ears of the Empire, and to extend the metaphor, the Empire would quite literally be blind and deaf without it.
In one of the four comfortable swivle chairs which occupied this room along with the great clutter of equipment, there sat the Empress Natalya, wide eyed and smiling. She had been playing with the system all day, observing the goings on of hundreds of nations which interested her to a greater or lesser degree, and eagerly awaiting input from her allies in GDODAD. It seemed that her recently sent message was being well received by the others. Camel Eaters, Barbarosea, and Euroslavia had already sent messages confirming their intention to attend the summit in Greifsgrad. Furthermore, there was word of stirrings in DFD, and rumors that that nation would also be sending a representative. This prelimenary piece of information pleased her to no end. She was well aware of the troubles and hardships from which that nation was suffering, and feared that as a result of these circumstances they would be in no state to send any kind of representation. Now, it would seem, the first signs of a more positive conclusion were presenting themselves. Natalya had much reason to be pleased.
With thousands of thoughts cluttering her mind, she drew forth one of the holographic monitors, and with a twist of her wrist set it to "transmit".
To The First Comrade of Euroslavia
Good and honored sir,
It pleases me to no end that you have chosen to attend my proposed summit in Greifsgrad. I feel that we have much to discuss, and many matters to make clear between us, and this will most definitly be the perfect opportunity to do so. Of all the members of the GDODAD, I fear that I have had the least direct contact with your person. I should hope that this meeting of ours shall prove to be the beginning of a long and fruitful friendship between ourselves and our two nations. Preparations are being made for your arrival. If you have any questions or concerns before embarking on your journey to Brass Rails, please contact me without hesitation. Bon Voyage Comrade Euroslavian!

Although Assington was not a part of the GDODAD during its former glory, like all others, we have heard the stories. I can assure you that Assington is fully committed to our allies and I shall not hesitate to personally be at this summit.
We are in possession of a vast amount of resources that could be put to a far better use with the GDODAD and we intend to establish better connections with our various allies. Along with myself, my brother and Foreign Minister, Calin shall be attending. I presume this is acceptable?
We look forward to seeing you within the next day.

President Calis and Minister Calin both sat within the comfortable Presidential shuttle as they departed Assingtonian space and the orbit of the Earth. Attention had been refocused on the space program and this transport shuttle was taking its second voyage.
Within a few hours the shuttle will circumnavigate the planet until the correct entry point is found, then it shall descend back onto the Earth and into Presgreif

To The President Calis of Assington
Good sir,
I find it heartening that you have chosen to attend this proposed summit of ours. I know all too well that your nation was amongst the unfortunate members who, quite mistakenly I assure you, have been for the greater part excluded from the goings on of GDODAD. Indeed, I feared that you would not answer this summons at all, that we had lost whatever ties we once enjoyed with your esteemed nation. You have alleviated my fears, and for this I am most greatful. I do sincerely hope that through this meeting of our national leaders, we may rectify the above stated error in our performance. In short, you have made a lady very happy this day, good sir. We do look forward to your arrival.

Transmission to Natalya de Greif, delivered by slipstream courier from The Great Ineffable Bob; Ineffable Emperor of The Silver Turtle and the associated dominions.
Natalya de Greif, I am heartened by your devotion to our alliance, and am pleased that you have done what I have not had the time to do*. I will arrive within the next day, I shall be arranging intersteallar transport for those members without the capability. I look forward to seeing you once more.
The Great Ineffable Bob.
Transmission to all earth-based GDODAD nations, standard Metus level 2 encryption.
I assume you have all recieved Natalya's summons regarding our alliance. Since Griefsgrad happens to be in another star system, any of you without the capability of interstellar travel are welcome to join me in my personal starship.
If you wish to travel with me, simply reply to this message within 24 hours in the affirmative and a yacht will be sent to take you up to the ISS Black Hole, where I shall meet you.
The voyage between the stars will be a brief one, we will have a Heavy Cruiser Battlegroup as an escort though there is no reason to expect trouble, and sleeping quarters and food will be provided should you feel the need.
I look forward to meeting those of you I have not yet had the time to, and also to seeing those of you I have met again.

From: Comrade Maloney, of Pyryyn, Euroslavia
I look forward to the time when our two nations can come together in negotiation. I have marveled at the diplomatic power that you wield within GDODAD, and I deeply appreciate your openness for fruitful negotiations with us. It is our hope that, in time, our two nations become close friends, throughout everything that may happen. Our nation has not had much interaction with any other nation within GDODAD, but we see your offer to be very heartwarming, as the first nation to step up and make promises to bring everyone within GDODAD back together again. I hope to meet with you soon.

Natalya,
I have sought out Der Fuhrer. The Dictatorship will be bringing three representitives. Der Fuhrer Dyszel approved without a second thought. However, Der Fuhrer brings along a Mister Mathias Bortniansky; reasons are not fully revealed at the moment. I, myself, will be attending as well.

Feeling the need to end there, he sent the reply. He had an hour before they were about to leave; and he had been packed within five minutes of returning home. He rested his face in hands, trying to think on an answer to his problem. He looked at his hands; the gold band caught the little light within his study and glimmered slightly. His wife had been dead long now; his daughter recently kidnapped. He fingered the ring; remembering their happy family when their daughter was first born.
Unaware of the time that lapsed, he looked at the clock, the hour had almost passed, but how?
Grabbing a single bag he quickly left his house, neglecting to lock the door to an empty house devoid of the meaning anymore. He walked the streets quickly, knowing he would reach the mansion within ten minutes or less.

I find it entertaining that you have this fetish with GDODAD, and how you "destroyed" the organization. We've been around long after your departure, and will be around long after you're gone. You left GDODAD because nobody wanted you around anymore. Turning around and claiming that you destroyed this organization is the most pathetic display of sourness and jealousy I've ever seen. You and your circle jerk of arrogant fools can shout as loud and as long as you would like about GDODAD being dead. It doesn't change the facts. We survived your departure, and need nothing from you. What you know, or what you think you know, is your business. But you had to say your piece, didn't you? You had to stick your nose in. I would never do this in one of your threads. [Alright, here's the deal. SB, your first post here is clearly flamebait, at least in the sense that it clearly serves little more purpose than to agitate the author. What Natalya chooses to do with her RP is her own perogative, regardless of how pointless it seems to be to you. Posting as you did here was clearly little more than an attempt to exacerbate the situation; if you feel so strongly about it you're free to keep it to yourself. Do not post here again unless it's In Character, or God forbid something constructive.
That said; Natalya, you do need to chill out a bit, if you would be so kind. If someone barges into your thread and starts trolling or what-have-you, just talk to one of us; don't add more of the same to the thread.

OOC: To Euroslavia, and all other nations wishing to use my intersteallar taxi service; I'd rather not do lengthy arrival/boarding/transit posts etc, as it will simply increase the time until the summit is joined. I've nothing really against it, it's just that it is essentially a waste of time.
That said, since I have nothing else to do in this post I'll waste some time and do the Euroslavia landing, but in the interests of productiveness I won't be doing any more, and we can assume everyone who needed to boarded my ship, unless anyone has any special intrest.
Please note that the following post would be essentially the same for every landing I'd do anyway
IC:
The yacht entered Euroslavian airspace like a silver lightning bolt, encased in orange and golden flame. As it neared the landing strip and recieved the landing co-ordinates it slowed, the flames fading away until only the hull was left glowing a soft cherry red. The long silver craft was adorned with black lines to demonstrate that it was a personal craft of The Ineffable Emperor himself, but other than that no features could be discerned. (OOC: It's kinda like the craft from "Flight of the Navigator", or if you haven't seen that think Padme's ship from SW2 "Attack of the Clones") The 150-or-so metre long craft came to a horizontal halt above the airstrip, hanging iabout 50 m in the air. Without a sound several panels on the bottom slid back leaving black holes on the underside of the craft. From these proceeded to emerge green, conical flames, and the craft began to descend.
The flames were in fact only for show, just guided regular flames with some copper thrown in for colour, and the yacht was descending under grav-manipulation, but the Emperor had a thing about his ships looking spectacular.
When it was just a few metres from the ground, it stopped, and the flames disappeared. Hanging there once more, a rectangular panel in the side slid open, and a stairway emerged. A man, blue eyes, about 6ft tall, wearing a silver uniform emerged, descended the stairway, and stood at the bottom, like a chauffeur standing in front of the limousine, and awaited the delegates.
OOC: My next post will be the Presgreif-arrival one, but don't feel obliged to not make a reaction post or anything due to my previous OOC-comment.

The Comrade himself and his Prime Minister were indeed impressed with the way that The Silver Turtle Aircraft found its place on the airstrip. The technology seen was simply amazing.
"Hmm...what do you think they did for those flames to show that specific color?"
"Not sure," the Comrade added. "It seems to be some sort of metallic element..can't quite identify it...maybe copper?"
"C'est possible..." whispered the Prime Minister, under his breath.
The aircraft finally settled down, and a stairway emerged.
"If relations between Euroslavia and The Silver Turtle were to establish itself, we could learn much from them, including the possibility of going into space...but that is an issue for another time..."
A tall man walked down the stairs and greeted the Comrade and his side-kick. The formalities were put aside until they arrived at the meeting, so they walked into the ship, got comfortable, and awaited their arrival at Presgreif.

As the delegates sat in the plush couches indicated to them by the crewman, a hologram appearing to be a man, perhaps in his early thirties, and wearing an the uniform of an Ineffable High-Guardsman, without insignia, appeared.
"Greetings. I am the Black Hole's Artificial Intelligence Entity. This trip will be a brief one, but if you look around you will notice I have provided a viewscreen for you to see the ships...[/i]
Whatever else the AI said was lost in gasps of amazement from the crew. They hadn't know this was possible, indeed until now only the AI and The Great Ineffable Bob himself had known that the chrome-lined interior was not in fact lined with chrome, but with a polymer screen similar to the chameleoflauge on the empire's stealth subs.
Now the chrome shell seemed to be melting away, replaced by a view of outside. Initially the sky above was blue, but within about a minute it too melted away and was replaced by the black of space, stars visible from on side of the yacht to the other.
The AI gestured towards some silver specks, which seemed to be stars, but they began to grow. As the yacht approached, more details became visible.
The most prominent ship was over twice as long as the next-largest ship. Blue searchlights wre visible illuminating what could be hangar openings, or gigantic weapons, it was unclear. The most striking feature about this ship was, however, its utter blackness. Apart from a few decorative streaks of silver, and the blue lights, the entire ship was as black as the space behind it, making identification of significant features difficult.
The other ships were easier to make out. These were mostly silver, with various colourings of fins. The largest ship of these was just under half the size of the black ship, long and low but very wide. This was surrounded by four long, almost conical ships with extensions continuing the superstructure design extending outwards behind them, each ship about half the size of the larger silver ship. Two small blocky-looking ships, each about a third the size of the smaller ships were rotating around this group, tailed by a very small ship, perhaps smaller than the yacht itself.
As the yacht approached the ships seemed to grow startlingly large, and it became clear the yacht was headed for the immense black ship, which began to block all else from view with its sheer size. As they approached, tiny specks of light became visible, darting around. When questioned, the AI replied that these were simply fighters, dwarfed by the ship.
The yacht proceeded to enter one of the blue-lit hangars, and the fleet began to move.
As those delegates that wished it were served drinks in the observation lounge, The Great Ineffable Bob met them for an informal drink.
As the fleet reached the edge of the system, a great white flash, just short of a blinding intensity illuminated the deck, and the ships entered slipstream. What the watching saw next could only be described as thick threads flying past at an incredible speed, the ship's slipstream runners just touching these, with blue sparks being emitted every so often. Glimpses of the other ships of the fleet were visible, a fleeting image of another ship appearing through the web of threads spanning the horizon. Where no thread was visible, a blue-white glare could only be seen..
Within a minute there was another flash of light and it was over, a new solar system was visible. The Great Ineffable Bob turned to address the assembled delegates.
"Ladies and Gentlmen, we are here."

With that, Fredrick packed his bags and left for the Spaceport. In his bag, he had brought a week's worth of clothes, and his Barbarosea Edition Custom Quantom (Computer, they're called Quantoms in Barbarosea). He was having the rest of his stuff, save his "personal" planner, shipped via TelLink. His Quantom was hand-held, but is more powerful then any super-computer. He could hold over 512 Terabites, and he could process anything with a binary number shorter then 512 digits in less then a nano-second. Oh, and he played games on it too. It was his life, and without it, he might as well be blind.
As the spaceship rumbled, Fredrick and his EJ's (;)) were already sleeping. They would enjoy their 20-hour nap, and then they were off, via PersonalAnSible (PAS) to Brass Rails. Their ship, the Nationalist deparded a couple days ago, and would be eargly awaiting them. It had used normal slipspace to jump, because ships were far too big for Ansible.

Several hours later the Presidential Cruiser arrived within Presgreif's star system. This was the first time the President had actually been out of the system, even though Assington sported several stations around the galaxy.
The ship shook slightly as it descended through the atmosphere and headed for the intended spaceport. Calis, Calin and the escort guards did not worry at the jumble. The ship was not very luxurious nor did it appear so but that was the point. Not looking special at all meant the craft was less of a target for potential enemies. Calis had ordered the ship to be constructed so, he didn't care for such unnecessary comforts and had devoted the funding of the ship into its capabilities.
Finally nearing spaceport airspace, the party began to gather their necessary gear whilst the pilot established a communication link with the port.

As the sun set on Cutlass City AFB, Kenneth E. Howitzer, president of this fine nation, and the rest of the GDODAD Delegates of Crimson Blades, boarded the Presidential Crusier "Whipcrack-3". Contrary to the name, this vessel was one of the most luxurious and gallant ever to have been graced by Kenneth.
There was no big turnout today. No massive farewell gala to wish the president a safe return. The people of Crimson Blades have long forgotten the great GDODAD alliance. Once respected and feared the world over, It was now nothing more than a forgotton peice of world history, somthing stashed away in college textbooks and wartime novels.
This was all going to change. It was all going to happen so fast, that nobody could see it coming. Delegates and notable figures where already en route to the great meeting. Kenneth was late. But fashonably late at that.
No man in the nation would have thought that the GDODAD was going to make a rebound. no one knew it existed. They would now.
As The Whipcrack made escape velocity, Kenneth pulled out his radio, He was going to have to make a few calls.

Charon, this is Brass Rails Command. You have been cleared to land, grid bearing 91-01-08-30. Welcome to Brass Rails.
Having just completed their return transmission to the Charon, Command received another incoming message:

And speedily replied:
Black Hole, this is Brass Rails Command. Great timing, the Assington delegation is just ahead of you. You are cleared for landing Black Hole, grid bearing 91-01-08-30. "Really? So low that they can't dock?"
"Apparently."
"Right...."
Nationalist, this is Command. You will notice a rather large Stardock in this planet's orbit. I reccommend you dock there. A cruiser will transport your personnel to Greifsgrad from there. Spiffy?

My fellow nations,
As a recent application for Dimmimar's membership into Global Dominion of Dictators against Demoracy (on probation) was accepted, I believe that the first step into a fruitful and long-term alliance would be to send delegates to Griefsgrad to represent Dimmimar in the upcoming debates on the future of the GDODAD. I hope that this will be a prudent course of action to assure Dimmimar's position in the GDODAD. However, I also wish to take this action to thank the nation's that have been so welcoming to us and assure them that their decision to accept our request was not a mistake. I hope that they, and all members of this alliance will have an extremely merry Christmas and a happy new year.
But now onto other matters. I am aware that I myself would be the ideal person to come to this conference, but alas, I myself am needed for other matters, namely welcoming the visiting delegation from the Cunaxian Republic. I will instead send Loreliana Johnson, a wonderful lady who has served me well over these past few years. She requires nothing more than a private room and food to nourish her body. I hope that this course of action is prudent, and will lead to a furthering of Anglo-GDODAD relations.
I hope that this letter arrives quickly, and may the gods keep you healthy.
Yours Truly

To Gaius Serpentius, High Imperator of Dimmimar
Good sir,
I have recently received your reply to my summons, and must declare that it pleases me to no end. Indeed, your fine and eloquent words serve as a confirmation that indeed it was prudent of us to heed your request for membership within GDODAD. I am confident that you shall prove yourself to be a fine addition to our ancient alliance, and add many passages to our glorious history. I must also say that though your direct presence will be missed at the summit, your absence is fully acceptable considering the circumstances in which you find yourself. I trust in your judgement, and am sure that the Lady Johnson will represent Dimmimar at this meeting in a worthy and competent manner. I look forward to hearing from you again soon. May the light of the Maiden guide you, my newest of friends and allies.
Yours in arms,

Loreliana Johnson was sitting down in the transport. She was amazed by the technology used onboard the spaceship, it made their LCO Supersonic Jets look like something out of a middle-ages textbook. She sighed, Gaius should have come himself! The man was getting extremely lazy, meeting the Cunaxian delegation would take up a matter of hours, let alone days! But, as she knew, arguing with that man was impossible. Living in a dictatorship was not as brilliant as the thousand of loudspeakers and projectors declared each month. In fact, the right of free-speech was non-existent in Dimmimar, anybody arguing with the party "disappearing" into the ether.
A great man, but blighted by his personality
Loreliana looked out into space. It seemed a nice enough transport, the constant humming of technologically advanced machinery made her ears buzz. If only she could get her hands on some of this technology. She sighed, continued looking out into space....

As the ship reached the planet's surface it slowed its descent, seeming to "bob" in the air for a second before continuing slowly downward. The brilliant blue searchlights played across the ground for a minute, before the hulll flattened itself and eight gigantic landing pads, each perhaps as large as a frigate were extended and the craft sat slowly down on the ground.
A few minutes later, a small silver object darted out, dwarfed by the immensity of the ship behind it. A smaller yacht, this time only about twenty metres long, now headed towards the city.
OOC: I'm assuming I was meant to land on the planet, and not dock? Also, I'm assuming there wasn't a 2km long clear space inside the city so I've merely landed near it. All th delegates are on the small yacht, I don't know whereabouts it's meant to go so I can't write any more on that. "Ready to fire pods in 3...2..1.FIRE!"
The Ansible pod fired. Fredrick and the EJ's heard it in the I/O room. The "pod" was really 14 pods, 13 of which were human Ansible pods. Fredrick and the gang were going to be beamed down just as soon as they landed. The 14th pod was a special pod. It held a Supremeist. The Supremeist is a ADPC (Armored Deluxe Persons Carrier). It can carry upto 16, and has air-transport capibilities (aka I tried in DoGA, but it didn't work).
"The pod has landed boys, ready for beaming?" was what the technition asked in the I/O room. "Yes, fire us." was Fredrick's response. Within 5 minutes, Fredrick and the EJ's were on the ground, loading into the Supremeist.

Patroling Gun Buggies in the vicinity, upon orders from the Empress herself, sped toward the two parties. Each party was hailed, and then lead away by the respective Gun Buggies which had made contact with them. They were eventually brought together, and then in one long caravan streamed across the baren and inhospitable wastelands of Brass Rails toward its only patch of true civilization, Greifsgrad.
As the caravan entered the city, the delegates could get their first impression of what kind of place Greifsgrad really was. It was a great metropolis, one of the largest amongst all the known systems, around 2 billion citizens and growing daily. Greifsgrad was indeed an ugly city, ugly, and dirty, and miserable. It was dominated by factories, refineries, powerplants, manufacturies, distileries, and all kinds of other buildings of industry. These seemed to intertwine with the brick-building slums, cheap bars, government subsidized whore houses, and pawn shops which made up the residential area of Greifsgrad's 21 borroughs to form some horrendous, gargantuen monstrosity; a monstrosity which seemed to sufficate all those who had been entangled in its great web. Few schools and churches could be spied, but what perhaps stuck out the most to a first time visitor was the utter lack of trees, or any other sort of foilage. Greifsgrad seemed to be covered in a thick noxious smog, the manifestation of centuries of environmental neglect. This smog blocked out all natural light, shrowding the borroughs in darkness and gloom. The streets teemed with the people of this damned place. Many, those who could afford such luxoury, wore gasmasks to filter oxygen through the toxic, stagnant air which surrounded them. Others were horribly deformed and mutated, suffering from ten thousand different kinds of ailment; tumors, genetic disorders, biomechanical experimentations gone awry. The rest were mostly just wragged little people, junkies and drunks who saught any kind of escape they could after completeing 13 hour days at whatever factory they happened to work at. Music blared from thousands of apartments, dark and savage music telling of pain and suffering. Greifsgrad was indeed the industrial heart of the Empire, producing trillions of dollars worth of machinary annualy, but this great financial success story had a darker, tragic side which was told everyday in its proletarian borroughs.
After an hour's drive through these bleek surroundings, the caravan finaly found its way to the lighter side of the city, its commercial and administrative core. Downtown Greifsgrad stood in sharp contrast to the rest of the city. Here, by some miracle of Greifan technology, the air was kept clean, and the great blue sky could actually be perceived. Trees lined the streets, and various parks complimented the landscape. In this place there were thousands of high rises, elegant government buildings, clubs, escort agencies, malls, and other attractions for the rich and powerful. At the center of it all stood Greif's Tower, the seat of power of the entire empire.
http://img124.exs.cx/img124/6529/14-city1.png
After another twenty minute drive through Greifsgrad's lush core, the caravan finally slowed to a stop infront of Greif's Tower. As the delegates disembarked from their respective vehicles, they found a small party of uniformed Imperial officials awaiting them. One of them, a women clad in the royal blue tunic and slacks of the Iron Angel Reapers Regiment, Natalya's personnal bodyguard, addressed them;
Welcome to Greifsgrad, honored guests. My name is Florencia Herodotus, and I shall be your caretaker for the day. You must all be famished and exhausted from your long journey. If you have no objections, I will gladly show you to your quarters, and have dinner prepared.

"I thank you for your hospitality." Loreliana replied. "But when will this conference start? Tomorrow, or today?" She queried.
Loreliana pulled her bag over her shoulders, the laptop creating a bulge in the side of it. She took out her earpiece, and started to whisper something into it, the neural-cortex scanners in her brain, started to release small nanites into her nervous system. It was the equivalent of being on steroids, but in not only a safer way, but one that all citizens of Dimmimar could enjoy. As her nervous system started to send signals to her brain, she found that she could do mathematical equations and all other sorts of processes more quickly. This process was almost instantaneous and unrecognisable. An enemy would not notice you activating the command. The enemy would be on the floor a few seconds later, crushed into a wall, or other obstacle.
She waited patiently, awating a reply from Florencia...

Within seconds, a reply message squacked back at the Captain of the Charon.
Charon, this is Brass Rails Command. You have been cleared to land, grid bearing 91-01-08-30. Welcome to Brass Rails.
"Understood Brass Rails."
It wasn't long before the Charon landed upon the designated platform and allowed the four passengers to exit the craft. Calis and Calin both wore dark robes, Calis a deep black whilst Calin bore a navy blue. Their faces were slightly covered by hoods but were not intentionally hiding anything.
Two other men gathered the few bags brought on the journey and followed the Assingtonian brothers to the delegation vehicles where they were promptly transported to Grief's Tower.
Stepping out of the transport, the brothers removed their hoods to allow sunshine upon their faces. Calis possessed a dark head of hair and a scruffy looking beard whilst his brother prefered to keep his blonde hair short and remain clean shaven.
Calis stepped forward at Florencia's greeting.
"Good day, I am Calis of Assington. The efforts that has been put into accomodating us are most appreciated."

"Here, give it to me." William the IV ordered. After reading the message and then the date on it. "What! Why was this not given to me earlier?" He asked, outraged at the failure of his comunication systems. "I, I don't know..." William stormed out of the room. Down the hall, and to the right, a lonly communications officer sat there. He was monitering the GFIN (Golden-Falcon Information Network). Too bad he didn't hear the footsteps. When the door opened, it was all over. With one fell swoop, his head was in the hallway. William was over 6'8" tall, and the liutenant was scared. "You see, Presgreif is on the planet Brass Rails, and last I checked, we don't have any, uh, FTL travel, do we?" The barman had been looking at her ever since, clearly it was not customary in Greifsgrad to slurp one's drink, making a horrible amount of noise. IC: Dominar was frustrated, the plane had been stopped because the tug pulling it had broken down, and he and the other passengers had been waiting for an hour, untill, just a second or two ago an announcement had instructed that "all passenger please follow the aircrew's instructions on how to leave the plane. Thankyou"
Again Dominar looked at his watch, he did not want to have to walk along a cold airport just to get to the terminal were he could well just be sent back to were he came...or worse.
"This way please sir" said an Airhostess.
"Sure thing miss" replied Domminar, he had been brought up as a citizen of Vast Principles even though he did not origionally come from there. As he steeped of the plane onto the unsturdy gangway he was suddenly dazed by the amazingly loud sound of military aircraft fly over their plane. In the shock of it he leaned over the rail of the gangway, slipped as he stepped onto the next step and fell over the side.
To dominar there was only Silence as he plunged foward, grabbed for the rail, missed, smashed his skull into the gangway and was knocked out. As he smashed into the concrete floor of the Runway there was a loud crack, and a cry from one of the female passengers. His head was twisted back, with a massive dent where it had hit the ground...he was quite dead now.
OOC: could someone rate that bit of RP out of 10 for me please? i would be interested in knowing how good i am at this(i havent RPed something like that ever...i think)

The Great Ineffable Bob had been impressed as the caravan proceeded through the city. So far he had not said a word to any of the other delegates since the ship.
That night, as he toured the facilities, he was impressed, but not as much as perhaps some of the other delegates. Ineffable technology was at a comparable level to Greifan technology.
Visitng the bar, he ordered a large bottle of a cocktail composed mainly of whisky, vodka, and lemonade, before retiring to drink it alone.

Why don't you make a new "serious" nation; that is a nation with a good name, characters, and a backstory. We could then roleplay some sort of a meeting between Natalya and your new nation's leader which would bring this new country into the fold.

IC: Calis had been wandering the tower for some time now, alone. Calin was back at their room on the phone, emersed in a deep conversation with his wife over their son's latest stunt. The guards were at ease as well since there was no need to be escorted throughout an allied structure.
He had taken much time to examine a few pieces of technology, attempting to get an idea of how they might work. Although Assington is fairly advanced in various technological fields, some of the gadgets within Greif were astounding, beyond his imagination.
Deciding he'd had enough browsing, Calis headed for the bar and asked for a bottle of vodka and a shot glass. He always made a point of trying the vodka of every nation he visited and so a tradition had emerged. Pulling back his hood, Calis took the first shot and cringed a little. There was something different about it, not necessarily bad... but differnt.

There were all too many things to think of. The Comrade was considered by all, within Euroslavia, as an introvert. He didn't talk to others often..and if he did...he would get very nervous. He often preferred not to attend press conferences, meetings, that sort of thing, and leave his Secretary of State to it all.

"Yea... it was a long ride here, Loreliana. my name is Patrick Maloney, the Comrade of Euroslavia."

"So what do you expect to get out of the meeting? Do you think GDODAD will rise to its old fame?" He stopped for a second, and realized that this nation was new to the Alliance. Der Fuhrer stood there, again stretching out her tired muscles. She had yet to change from the intense pace of recent activity in her nation. She wore a full black stealth suit, devoid of all but one gun......the pistol Mathias had tried to end his life with.
Turning to Mathias (a man of impressive build, dark hair and eyes), who appeared very downcast and dejected, she took his hands in her own. Calmly speaking to her long standing friend, the man who had served much time defending their war-ridden nation against repeated attack after attack; the man who, after several wounds, many clearly visible, still was able to stand and fight for his land. But the pride he was once had, the will and desire to defend his home was gone. He no longer thought anything of himself as his oncoming execution loomed closer and closer. "Ready to do this?"
He secretly cursed DFD. She was delaying the inevitable, once again. He could have easily ended this before it began in his bedroom. He not only failed to kill and eradicate the enemy that stalked them, but he killed thousands of innocent lives.....people of his own nation......to attempt his horribly failure.
He knew his laboratory had been exposed; it was now just a matter of time before it was all over. The henious C9 would find a way to bring out the hidden truths behind the nation; the mysterious circumstances there were unexplainable up to that moment.
He exhaled slowly and brought his defeated gaze to Der Fuhrer's eyes, with a partial grin of weak defeat he nodded, as if saying Let's do this.
Der Fuhrer smiled, feeling that Mathias had understood her completely. She remained standing there, holding Mathias's hands, awaiting further direction.

The delegates were lead into what was called the Great Hall, though it proved to be no such thing. Some may have expected a long and tall throneroom, ordained with luxurious pillars and tapestries. These some most probably knew Natalya little, or not at all, and were in for a great disapointment. Indeed, the Great Hall was called so mostly by the staff as a kind of sick joke, as well as a humorous tribute to their Empress. Natalya had begun her rise to power as a proffessional soldier, and she retained a soldier's love for practicality. The Empire had been built on efficieny, calculation, and self-sacrifice, not on decadence and inflated egos. This "Great Hall" was perhaps some kind of manifestation of this truth.
The room was not much larger than a penthouse suite, just adequate enough to comfortably accomodate a small gathering of people such as this one. A bar, a few comfortable greatchairs, and a couple of coffee tables composed the complete list of furnishings the room had been complemented with. There were no paintings, no expensive vases, no columns, indeed no trappings of luxury whatsoever. The room did have two rather notable features, the first being a white shag carpet covering the floor, the second a great floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall window looking out onto the city. However, even these features served a functionable purpose. The Empress often came here to contemplate matters of state, and found that her meditations went most productively when she paced back and forth, bare foot, music playing softly in the background, looking out at the glory of her great capital.
Natalya was already present, along with the sisters Herodotus, two of her closest advisors, standing by the bar and sipping at a coffee while discussing something in hushed tones. She was not barefoot and wild today, but dressed in a formal tunic and slacks befitting of a head of state meeting her equals. It could be observed that she had recolored her hair again, this time from a jet black to a warm brunette, being apparently unable to decide what color suited her best. As the delegates entered the "great hall", she approached them, smiling warmly.
"My friends, you have finally arrived. How good it is to finally see you all."
she said, shaking the hands of some, embracing those whom she knew more closely.
"Please everyone, do sit. I trust you all know The Duchess Katarina and her sister Florencia?"
She indicated the women in question with a sweep of her hand in their direction. Introductions were made, and everyone settled into their seats.
"Would anyone like something to drink? Coffee, tea, water?"
Natalya asked her guests, already making her way toward the bar to serve her friends and allies. The Empress was quite visibly pleased that so many had chosen to answer her summons, indeed, those who knew her well could say that she was beaming with joy.

Calis grinned when the guest first stepped into the Great Hall. He was expecting the lavish decorations so common in halls around the galaxy that beloned to national leaders. He was delighted to see Natalya was a practical woman, much like himself.
Whilst Calin prefered the luxuries of life himself, he was accustomed to his brother's practical side and was not bothered by the layout of the hall. Both brothers obtained a glass of water before sitting next to eachother at the table.
This would be interesting indeed...

Loreliana asked for a glass of water. She waited patiently, and a few seconds later, the servant brought the glass back. She took a sip and put it onto the table infront of her.
Nice, I prefer home though
She gazed thoughtfully out of the window, thinking about the summit....

After greeting Natalya William and Sedric want over to the bar and ordered to light coffees. After they had gotten their coffee William went and sat down in one of the great chairs, and Sedric took up a seat at the bar and began to make preparation for the summit on his laptop. William, after getting comfortable started to socialize with the other delegates(small talk of course), just trying to pass the time until the summit really began.

Der Fuhrer entered the "Great Hall;" a look of sheer appreciation for a soldier's manner spread across her face. She looked to her right, Mathias looked down at his wrists; the broken cuffs still hung around them, as he felt the shame of a wrongful prisoner realizing his henious crimes. He quickly broke free from Der Fuhrer's side, retreating to the bar. He hated being here.....it was just prolonging his inevitable death.
Der Fuhrer shot a glare at Mathias. His behavior was really starting to irritate her. She shifted her stance before her glimpse caught sight of Lex. Motioning him quickly, she beckoned him to her.
She whispered into his ear quietly, "Keep an eye out on Mathias. He is more then likely culiminating an intrinsic plan to end his life. I cannot have that happen.....not when I know I can get him out of this."
Lex nodded and quickly made haste toward Mathias, joining him at the bar. Mathias glanced at Lex quickly, stealing a quick grin to an former soldier. It was amazing how both had changed over the time spent on the battlefield.
Der Fuhrer set her aims to Natalya, meeting eye contact with someone she intended on meeting for a long time. She extended her hand, and in a rather cold and firm shake, she shook hands with Empress. Der Fuhrer spoke, her voice cold and heartless, "It's a pleasure to be here. I have always respected a fellow soldier; they have an appreciation for the blood shed that mere civilians do not ever understand."
She relenquished her cold and heartless, apathetic mien, allowing a warming smile spread across her face.
"I will have your best Bourbon, straight," she finished.

The Great Ineffable Bob surveyed the room. None of the ostentatiousness of his own palace, but rather an efficient and sensible one. Good. Bob was fond of his elaborate displays, but really he just liked impressing people. The Greifan look was much more "him".
"Natalya, it has been too long..."

Shonar Bangla
22-12-2004, 22:37
It was late night, a stormy one at that, as a sleepless President Habibul Bashar paced to and fro. Indecision loomed over him. During the Civil War, the official libraries had been burnt down, and there remained little evidence of the glorious and active past that Shonar Bangla shared prior to the Civil War. One of these long-searched-for-documents was details on the GDODAD, but no matter how passionate the attempts, the results were fruitless. GDODAD remains a mystery not simply to the general population of Shonar Bangla, but even to the administration of the nation.
The news of GDODAD's re-assembling found the President caught with two left feet. "Who are these guys? Should we join them? Should we ask our region India to join it as a whole? Should we at least support them? Or should we oppose them? Darn, I know nothing about GDODAD," were the thoughts that paced through Bashar's restless mind.

ooc: Ya, sorry, my life has been really hectic over the past couple of weeks. I've been putting in alot of overtime at work, and there was the whole Christmas thing. I still have stuff left over to do, I'm needing to get my ass over to the Archbishop, who has also been expecting me for this past couple of weeks. Damn, I shirked the Archbishop, rofl. If this wasn't enough, I've beeen having some clan troubles in Anarchy Online, so overall, ya, its been a mess. Anyhow, I have like a week off from everything and everyone now, so I'll have time to write those beefy posts. Merry Christmas everyone. :)

ooc: Allow us to postpone this meeting a while longer. I'm currently working on a bit of an essay, in which I will outline my own vision for ourselves, and our allies. This I will present on the Metus forum, so that we can discuss it in an ooc manner. There is much which needs to be said, I think, and much of it is not for the public eye. There is much to be planned, and much to be done. I can only hope that after these long months of absence, you will all still be willing to consider my proposals, and help me convert my theory into practice.

Howitzer along with three of his GDODAD Advisors/Delegates, who had just been called back from government layof..erm..."extended vacations".
