World Cup of Basketball 2 Sign-Up/Information

Information

1. The scores for each game will be generated in Excel, based (slightly) on the team's performance (if applicable) in the first WCB and also on the team's roster.

2. There will be a slight RP bonus, which will add a few points to your score.

3. A twelve-man roster for each team is needed, but only five players will be on the court at one time. The roster should contain 2 starting guards, 3 starting forwards, 3 substitute guards, and 4 substitute forwards.

4. Teams may be coed, but all female teams are discouraged.

5. OPTIONAL, BUT RECOMMENDED: If you post a roster, each player should be rated from 1-10 in offensive and defensive capabilities, i.e. [9:7], as seen in the roster below. The total for all 12 players' offense and defense combined must not add up to more than 150. If you do not wish to go into that much detail, you can simply post your whole team's combined ratings, i.e. [74:76] and your players will automatically be assigned (reasonable) ratings that add up to those numbers. If you do not post a roster, your team will be [75:75] automatically.

Aquiliana WCB2 Roster

STARTERS

33 - PG Dextidus Munirius (6'5", 205) - Has great ballhandling skills and loves to drive the lane. Has a very good mid-range jumper, but sometimes is unwilling to shoot the 3-pointer in favor of driving and dishing. Plays solid defense, but it could be better, especially considering his very long arms.[9:7]
3 - SG Ameso Tramnia (6'1", 179) - A good shooter, but often passes up shots, as he is one of the shortest players in the nation and can easily get his shot blocked. However, he's one of the best at running the fast break and is generally very quick.[8:6]
42 - SF Forsitor Fluctia (6'9", 237) - Suffers from white man's disease - he's got decent strength and good post-up skills, but he seldom dunks, and when he does it looks a lot like Yao Ming's "stick-it-over-the-rim". Is an average mid-range shooter, but sometimes shoots too much.[7:7]
50 - PF Sactius Luculus (6'10", 312) - Uses his size and bulk to great effect, and enjoys the hook shot more than anything. Gets lots of rebounds, but often goes for the blocked shot over playing good defense. Not a superb athlete, but very strong.[7:8]
44 - C Fusco Mitisticus (7'4", 254) - Long and slender, but with decent strength, he's got good post-up and rebounding skills, but lacks the quick hands that would make him a real force in terms of blocked shots. Still gets a fair number, but not as many as Luculus. Has good mid-range game, and occasionally will drop a 3-ball on you.[8:8]

SUBS

4 - G Potala Delphinus (6'6", 182) - Should be a starter, but you can only have 2 guards. Has a good outside shot and decent dribbling skills, but isn't great at defense.[7:4]
15 - G-F Lindinus Venator (6'8", 285) - Needs to keep his weight under control, as it really slows him down. He can shoot from the outside somewhat, but doesn't dribble great.[6:4]
12 - G Fuligo Hortior (6'2", 177) - Very fast, very quick, good shooter, but lacks the dribbling to start. Plays good defense and has strength for his position.[4:6]
20 - G-F Dorus Iencus (6'3", 182) - He's got long hair. Not much else to be said. Except that he's a decent mid-range shooter who plays good defense.[6:7]
35 - F Tarcas Regulus (6'8", 233) - Just 20 years old, he's still raw, making some rookie mistakes and bad turnovers. Nevertheless, he can hold his own very well, exhibiting very good post-up moves, as well as playing good, if not great, defense. On the verge of really blowing up.[7:6]
31 - F Molitus Ulius (6'9", 176) - Young, skinny and somewhat timid on offense, but he's still pretty tough. He's got a 40-inch vertical and blocks quite a few shots.[4:7]
25 - F Debius Dixion (6'11", 224) - Very fast and extremely strong, and can jump very high, but lacks any type of shot at all.[2:5]

Total (you are not required to post this): [75:75], 150

Big Pimento
26-11-2004, 19:21
Big Pimento Poppers - Starting Five

7 - PG - Roy Ellis (6'1" - 185lbs)
Roy Ellis is what you'd call a "shoot-first point guard". Coming off a good performance in the inaugural World Cup of Basketball, Ellis will be back and counted on to provide some leadership and scoring to this team. Ellis' offesnive skills are off the radar, he's got a great shot, slippery dribbling skills and loves to take it inside. Ellis is a good passer, though he often opts to try to make things happen himself, and a bit of a defensive liability.[10:5]

13 - SG - Sandro Miller (6'3" - 200lbs)
After his coming out party during the past World Cup, Miller's game has blossomed in nearly every facet. A Big Pimento Basketball Association All-Star for two years running, Miller averaged 22.6ppg and 7.7apg during the last season. He's still a bit undersized for the shooting guard position, but he's a very intelligent player who finds ways to usually get the upper hand and comes to play every game. [9:8]

20 - SF - Fred Valparaiso (6'9" - 220lbs)
As the youngest starter at age 21 and standing at 6'9", Fred Valparaiso is a very big shooting forward who's a match-up disaster waiting to happen. He's got a great first step that will blow by defenders all day, but give him room and he'll drain jumpshots over you all day. He's not the most flashy player the world has ever seen, but he's fundamentally sound and gets the job done.[8:6]

12 - C - Orlando Santiago (7'1" - 285lbs)
At 34 years of age, this should probably be Orlando Santiago's final international appearance. But don't think that age has made him soft, he's still as physical and dirty as ever. Santiago was never a big scorer and will be even less so now, but he should be looked upon to anchor the Big Pimento defence, block shots and collect rebounds. Any points Santiago may score will be gravy.[5:10]

2 - PF - Cristiano Douglas (6'10" - 245lbs)
Last but certainly not least for the starters is Cristiano Douglas, better known as C-Dawg in Big Pimento. Douglas was the most dominating player in Big Pimento's previous World Cup run, and at 29, some argue he's even better than before. Douglas offensive instincts are finely tuned and he's a threat to score from anywhere from underneath the basket until 18 feet out. He's also tenacious on the boards, a potent shot blocker and his defensive positioning and awareness has improved. If Big Pimento hopes to have success like last time, C-Dawg's going to have to step it up again.[10:8]

Substitutes
5 - PG - Johan Lundqvist (5'11 - 170lbs) / Diminutive player who's very quick and possesses sensational on-court vision. [6:5]
8 - SG/SF - Kieran Haze (6'5 - 210lbs) / Terrific athlete and a tenacious defender who'll chip in with some occasional offence [4:8]
1 - G - Charles Fiend (6'3 - 195lbs) / Average player in almost every facet of the game besides his ability to shoot and knock down threes. [7:3]
9 - SF - Horatio Carter (6'6 - 215lbs) / Extremely gifted athlete who excels at producing highlight reel dunks. Perhaps better suited for the Harlem Globetrotters [5:4]
17 - F - Mike Maroon (6'9 - 235lbs) / A gifted scorer with great touch, who shows very little will to get his nose dirty down low. [7:2]
22 - PF/C - Ron Voloshenko (6'11 - 265lbs) / Nicknamed Old Reliable, Voloshenko is a savvy vet who knows how to get the job done [5:5]
32 - C - Marius Antonius (7'3 - 300lbs) / No offensive skill whatsoever, he'll only score off put-backs and tip-ins, but he's tough as nails and an absolute bitch to have guarding you in the post [1:9]

SG: #1 Ryan Stoudimite: 6'6" 225 lbs, 23 Yrs Old - He is the main coring threat on the team. He has range, driving, dribbling, free-throws, awareness, offensive rebounds, you name it, hes got it. His defense is improving too. [10:7]

SF: #23 Trent Grouden: 6'7" 234 lbs, 28 Yrs Old - Best defender on the team. He rarely scored, but can steal balls from the best player and blocks excelent for being only 6'7". Effective rebounder too. [5:10]

PF: #34 James Brown: 6'10" 231 lbs, 27 Yrs Old - Good inside scorer, great rebounding, good blocking. Better defender than scorer, but still produces points when needed. [7:8]

C: #32 Remart Ssaryu: 7'3" 265 lbs, 26 Yrs Old - Dominent center, excelent rebounding and blocking. Major inside threat to thunder a dunk down or pass out to the wing. Exactly what every team wants from a center. [9:9

SF: #50 Brian Kaprov: 6'8" 238 lbs, 24 Yrs Old - Opposite of Grouden, comes off of the bench and takes shot like no tommorow, scorer, not defender. [6:3]

F/C: #2 Carlos Robinson: 6'11" 258 lbs, 32 Yrs Old - Plays both 4 and 5 spot well. Rebounds well and blocks well, rarely scores. [1:5]

PF: #21 Kevin Granite: 6'11" 234 lbs, 22 Yrs Old - Excelent future ahead for him. Expected to be starting next year. Great inside scoring and rebounding. Plays defense well. Has long reach. [7:7]

C: #0 Fred Megedo: 7'1" 252 lbs, 34 Yrs Old - Former All-Star still produces if playing time is increased, but plays less due to injuries. [5:5]

Kaze Progressa
27-11-2004, 00:34
Please welcome the Kangaroos, the Progressan basketball national team:

STARTERS:
C: Jaulinta Jarubaa [7'2", 276lbs, 8:7] (Team: Quarua Dolphins.)
Uses his height well on both offense and defence and is a superb rebounder, but not the best ball-handler.
PF: Egazol Wazjulin [6'8", 276lbs, 7:9] (Team: Mugota Monsters.)
Puts the 'power' into 'power forward' with his aggressive style, and uses it to gain a surprising number of steals as well as blocks.
SF: Stajinutu Zuut [6'5", 246lbs, 6:9] (Team: Farela Thunder.)
Smaller than Wazjulin, but from the same mould. Lacks shooting ability but a superb defensive player.
SG: Garh Vanuzo [6'5", 221lbs, 10:7] (Team: Pageas Perfection.)
Probably the best basketball player the country has ever produced. His shooting accuracy is astonishing. Utterly focused on attack, tries to make things happen himself.
PG: Piznik Hijia [5'11", 164lbs, 7:9] (Team: Kaza Rulers.)
The best stealer of a basketball in the country, and also has fine positioning skills. Weakness is in his shooting.

SUBSTITUTES:

C: Quaza Hijti [7'3", 300lbs, 4:7] (Team: Daurama Dunkers.)
A highly capable blocker if only through sheer size, but limited mobility and ball-handling skills let him down.
PF/C: Mert Uznub [6'10", 288lbs, 4:4] (Team: Pageas Perfection.)
A surprise choice for the national team. At only 18, he lacks experience, but has some natural ability and is versatile. Certain to improve.
PF/SF: Jaulinta Hezk [6'7", 250lbs, 6:3] (Team: Daurama Dunkers.)
A useful forward with a fine shot, but weak defensive ability can leave him exposed.
SF: Zazta Quiap [6'5", 235lbs, 5:6] (Team: Tebaliya Tormentors.)
The veteran of the team. Tactically astute, a great positional player, but these days he lacks fitness and power.
SG: Arista Atia [6'6", 222lbs, 3:5] (Team: Pageas Perfection.)
Defensively solid but has been plagued with injuries and his shooting and passing are both weak.
SG: Fahuat Ajikzi [6'5", 240lbs, 6:5] (Team: Nortenai Network.)
The man largely responsible for 'The Network' gaining promotion to the B-Ball League National. Three-pointers a speciality.
PG: Miadi Bahub [6'0", 190lbs, 7:6] (Team: Surizzi Storm.)
The best player on the team's bench, he is an excellent distributor of the ball and has good positional play on offence and defence.

Lethislavania Fighting Green

PG - Aleksandr Karnesky; 6'9", 297 Lbs, 29 Yrs. Old. Tall, aggresive Russian Slav, with fantastic defensive capabilities. [5:9] 14

SG - Todd Boeing; 6'4", 210 Lbs, 23 Yrs. Old. Quick on the ball, but sloppy on defense. [7:5] 26

SF - Thomas Karnesky; 6'5", 220 Lbs, 21 Yrs. Old. Learning the game, quite rough on offense. [4:8] 38

PF - Chris Katamwe; 5'11", 178 Lbs, 27 Yrs. Old. Great perimeter shooter, great at stealing. [6:6] 50

C - Chi Zhao; 7'3", 310 Lbs, 18 Yrs Old. The star of the Lethislavanian programme, he is a great all around player. [14:14] 78

Bench

PG - Christopher Smith; 6'1", 185 Lbs, 24 Yrs. Old. A little weak on offense, good stamina and blocking skills. [3:7] 88

G - Levi Johnson; 6'4", 203 Lbs, 24 Yrs. Old. Quite good on running defense, not spectacular on perimeter shooting. [2:10] 100

SG - Matt Parnicia; 6'5", 210 Lbs, 31 Yrs Old. One of the aging veterans, stamina and injuries always a problem. Good on defense. [2:6] 108

SF - Tyler Kirstoval; 6'0", 175 Lbs, 29 Yrs. Old. Another veteran, he is still quite speedy, but his shooting is getting gradually worse. [5:5] 118

F - Timothy Torvalds; 6'2", 220 Lbs, 21 Yrs. Old. Rookie, but is gradually getting better at the game. Weak offense; strong defense. [4:6] 128

PF - Chris Matthison; 6'7", 345 Lbs, 26 Yrs. Old. Slow, and overweight, he is powerful yet unrefined. With work, could be quite good. [3:7] 138

C - Shizu Mattyiama; 6'11", 250 Lbs, 18 Yrs. Old. Quick, and agile, he could have been the starter - Only Zhao stood in his way. [6:6]

Overall - [61:89]

Lethislavania is a very defensive team, due to it's culture. If the rookies can pull it together, they might be able to go far. Look for Chi Zhao to be a stanout player this year, he is by far the best player in the Commonwealth's history.

C - Chi Zhao; 7'3", 310 Lbs, 18 Yrs Old. The star of the Lethislavanian programme, he is a great all around player. [14:14]

Be warned; most teams' best defenders play at C, and

SF - Tyler Kirstoval; 6'0", 175 Lbs, 29 Yrs. Old. Another veteran, he is still quite speedy, but his shooting is getting gradually worse. [8:2]
might not be able to stop even the backups he plays against from scoring more than usual.

Sarzonia Storm

Head Coach: Dick Motta
Assistant Coaches: Kirk Benson; John Davis

Starters
PG 1 Mark Chelsea (University of Syosset): Played four years at Syosset despite being older than most college age students at 29, but played a lot of ball in the streets. Can sometimes get carried away with no-look passes or fancy dribbling. (6' 2", 170 lbs) [7:6]
SG 12 Jerome Butler (Wilmington Wind): Led the Wind in scoring with 24.9 points per game in his rookie season. A natural scorer with a great pure jump shot from 16-18 feet, he's not known for his defense and occasionally hogs the ball. Just turned 23. (6'5", 195) [7:4]
SF 13 Terry Casterbridge (Woodstock Whoosh): Starred for the Storm in the inaugural World Cup, taking the team to the championship game where it fell one game short of the title. Led the Whoosh with 23.9 points per game and will be a team leader at 28. (6'8", 210) [8:7]
PF 24 Nate 'Tiny' Bonner (Portland Clippers): Played a key role for the Storm in the first World Cup and had a strong season for the Clippers in the re-establishment of the league. Starting to come into his own at 25 (6'11", 275) [6:7]
C 5 Bennie Malone (Nicksia Rockers): A fearsome defensive and rebounding presence, he dominated the SBA in his first professional season. This 26 year old led the league in blocked shots with 3.1 per game and rebounding with 12.4 per game. (6'10", 250) [6:8]

Reserves:
PG 10 Darrell Colter (Tyrol Trappers): His performance off the bench in the last World Cup drew the attention of only one team: The Trappers. They signed him and he led the SBA in assists with 12.1 and finished fourth in the league in shooting percentage at .531. Nearly automatic from the free throw line (94.3 percent). At 33 years old, may have a couple of good years left. (6'1, 155) [5:5]
SG 22 Jamal Standeford (Saugerties City College): At just 19 years old, he's the youngest player on the team. Has the best three-point shot on the team, hitting 45 percent from behind the arc. Not a great defensive player, but he goes after his man. (6'4, 182) [6:4]
G 4 Dontae Norman (Wilmington University): Can play either the point or the two guard. Often passes up open shots to get the ball to his teammates. Usually doesn't shoot the ball more than four or five times a game, but scored 38 points when his team's three leading scorers were injured. Just turned 22. (6'5", 180) [6:6]
F 11 D'Quay Jackson (Tyrol): At 24, caught the attention of the Trappers after the World Cup and had a trying rookie season. He was forced to play power forward and center at times due to injuries and his play suffered as a result. Should excel as a small forward. (6'9, 205) [6:5]
SF 15 Marquis Bentley (Saugerties Strikers): Played all three years of the SBA's existence and adds experience and scoring touch to a Saugerties team lacking in both. He's 31 years old. (6'7, 210) [7:5]
C 20 Ike Mason (Wilmington Wind): Mason is known more for his offensive exploits than his defensive presence, but he is Shaq-like in his failures at the charity stripe, hitting 54 percent from the free throw line last season with the Wind. Will turn 26 years old in two days. (7'0, 245) [7:5]
G/F 21 Alan Bell (Rypien Rush): At 6'6", the best all-around athlete on the Storm, but at 24 years old, he's expected to remain a sixth man unless injuries force him into the starting lineup. He may be the first player off the bench. (195 pounds) [9:8]
Team rating [80:70]

The team will play a half-court offense and man-to-man on defense. They may switch to zone defense or trapping to confuse opposing offenses.
Hisam

Ballers Back for WCB

The Hisam National Basketball Team is back!!! Led by Coach Greg the team is exactly the same as it was last time since almost all the players were quite young when chosen. This team will most likely represent Hisam for the next WCB with some changes to include developing youngsters. Ever since Hisam’s good run in the previous the government has invested hisamats in developing basketball even more in the country.

Starters:
Point Guard: #4 Victor Jaarkon (6'4, 195 Pounds)
A skillful player, Victor follows a pass first, then shoot policy. His ability to pick out teammates is astounding. Coaches praise this ability however wish that he takes some more shots when he gets open looks because of his natural shooting ability. Jaarkon also drives well towards the basket and is known for drawing lots of fouls. On defence, he is tenacious and uses his size to harass the other teams point guards. Unfortunately. his size also makes him a bit slow. Coming back from WCB I and playing in the HBL have helped Victor mature and become an even more skilled point guard. He has even started to take more shots. [8:7]

Shooting Guard: #31 Sarjean Maressa (6'7, 212 Pounds)
Sarjean is a pure offensive player. His shot is fantastic as well as his penetration and driving of the lane. His dribbling skills are phenomenal. He has no qualms about taking clutch shots and can be a go to player. Sarjean, though, and plays loose defense even though he is an adequate defender. Sarjean had a great time in last years WCB, showing off his offensive skills and hopes to return to make a mark. [9:5]

Small Foward: #8 Nick Esterman (6'8, 230 Pounds)
Nick Esterman does all the dirty work for the Hisam Ballers. He plays with a lot of heart and passion and hustles for the ball. He is the toughest defender on the team and one of the best defenders. He has a deft touch and likes playing on the inside. His outside shot isn't that great and sometimes he gets carried away by his emotions. Nick has even become more deadly at defense after playing one season in the HBL leading the league in steals and blocks. [4:10]

Power Foward: #29 Raghan Veraus (6'11, 259 Pounds)
The star of this team, Raghan is the definitive power forward. He gets rebounds and is dominant in the low as well as the high post. He is able to force players to take bad shots and uses his long arms to shot block effectively. Raghan has returned after leading his HBL team to the championship. He has improved all facets of his game and looks forward to duking it out with all the big men, especially Cristiano Douglas. [10:9]

Center: #44 Caleb Andrews (6'11, 248 Pounds)
An unorthodox center, Caleb can shoot from way outside the key as well as handle the ball quite well. He however lacks inside moves and has difficulty posting up on players. He however passes quite well and creates open looks for other players. A bit soft on the defensive end, Caleb is quite a strong rebounder. Caleb has had an ordinary season in the HBL after the ending of the WCB. However all his skills are intact and hopes to bring the WCB trophy back home. [8:6]

Substitutes
#22-Narman Kovitz-PG (6'3, 179) [6:5]
#8-Farid Larhoun-SG (6'6, 195) [4:7]

There is very little changed from the squad that one the first World Cup.
Starters

5-PG-Albert Rimmer(6'3"-186lbs)
Albert Rimmer a player of reasonably tall stature for a point guard.Vetern of the National squad that one the first World Cup.Is best described as a high scoring pick pocket.[8:8]

6-SG-Josh Ballard(5'11"-168lbs)
Josh Ballard plays for the Port Royale Bombardiers. His slight of hand has the ability to put players in the gaps and to pick a pocket.Showed grit in many Screaming Eagles wins.[5:7]

3-SF-Ryan Edwards(6'8"-224lbs)
Consistantly embarrases defenders at the age of 25 he has let wisdom get the better of his youth.Massive dunking ability asured of a high rebound tally because of his presence in the key.[6:6]

1-C-Jack Taylor(7'2"-254lbs)
Jack Taylor now playing in his 16th year in the HNBL a true veteran but has slowed down considerably.Rumoured to retire after this Championship win last time round encouraged him to return for one more Tourney. His prescence at both ends of the court ensures both Offence and Defensive Boards and has neat 3 for a big man.Plays for the Harlesburg Heat.[5:8]

2-PF-Robert Handkoff(6'10"-248lbs)
Robert Handkoff a strong burly Forward from Comnors Corsairs he led the team to the semis last season and with another strong performance before being selected for the national squad had led The Corsairs to a 6-2 record including wins against the Harlesburg Heat and Kingston Hussars..[7:6]

I'll give this a try. It should be interesting, especially since I didn't see the first one.

Praying2God Warriors Roster

Starters:
PG: John Child (age 18) 7:9
This kid is flat out good. He just needs some time to develop his shot more. He can pass and defend like nobodies business.
SG: James Head (19) 6:7
By far the weakest starter in the line-up, he will occasionally sit on the bench at the start of games when the Warriors go with a big line-up. He tends to lose his head on the floor at times.
SF: Paul Walk (20) 7:8
A very good player. His main problem is that he has a problem with walking too much when he has the ball. He can defend most players though.
PF: Thomas Faith (19) 8:9
This kid is bonafide superstar material. Once he believes in himself, he could become one of the all-time greats. He can match-up with anybody on the floor.
C: Peter Rock (21) 9:10
This guy lives up to his name. He's an unpenatrable rock on defense, and can throw down the rock with the best of them on the offensive end.

Bench:
PG: Joseph Trust (20) 5:6
He's a little insecure in himself, but has the fundamentals to do well. He just has the misfortune of playing at the same position as John Child, and doesn't have the size to play SG.
G/F: Samuel Wise (21) 5:7
A smart player. He can flat out shutdown the opponent's hottest shooter. He can easily play either SG or SF. He remains very cool and collected on the floor.
F/C: Isaiah Bold (20) 7:7
He'd be a starter on several teams, but he's just a bench player for the Warriors. However, he does start on occasion, when the Warriors go with a big line-up. He is a very good player, and a great addition to this team. However, he does run his mouth on occasion.
F: Abraham Old (22) 5:5
The old, wily vet on this team. His skills are rusty because he's coming back from injury, but he can still play. By far the emotional leader of this team.
SG: Daniel Hope (18) 3:5
More of a defensive player than an offensive. He won't back down from any challenge. A young player with lots of time to improve.
PG: David Strong (18) 4:6
A very good defensive player. He does have off-the-court problems though, as he is a player off the court in addition to on it. A definite ladies man, despite the fact that he won't back down from any fight you throw at him.
F: Adam Apple (18) 1:4
He's got a lot of room for improvement. He doesn't see playing time unless it's a rout, and then it's only a minute or two.

(OOC sidenote-In case you didn't catch it...the guys on my team all have biblical references.)
