The Roses of Fod

"I believe the honors are mine. Jacqueline, take out your file. Write down everything I say."

"Of course, Doctor Freedmyn."

"Where to begin... Entry seems to be bound oak sheets... Water damage from the tide. I expect the interior has been gutted. Whitestone archway, we might want to look for a quarry later. No lock per say, just seems to be hinged." Nudge. "Not incredibly fragile." The Doctor spread her hands on the door, and pushed it slightly. No more than an inch had it stood ajar when, with a crinkle, it crumbled to the floor in flakes. "I take that back. Incredibly fragile."

The Doctor was Department Chair of Research and Review, Ministry of Education. Reports had come in last year of the Elliana Ice Shelf thawing in the Northern Districts of the Federation. Often times this area, The Lowlands, were trapped under The Ice Shelf. Last summer though, thanks to our friend Global Warming, the Shelf had melted almost completely and vanished with the Tide. Originally it was thought that what was revealed were only ancient coral reefs of the Arctic, yet the Ministry was pleasantly surprised with what actually was there.

'Twas a City.

"Note that it's not fragile due to rotting or decay, but the hinges have been torn by the water- What-in-the-name-of-Ali."

"What-in-the-name-of-Ali, Doctor?"

When scouting had begun it was discovered that the Village was used a Port. It wasn't the most grandeur of locations, far from it, but the significance of what has been found so far is astounding. Agriculture, for one thing, is what shocked many of the Researchers. Whatever plants were cultivated were long since gone, yet how the people respected and cared for them still remained in traces. Agriculture indicated Learning, Learning indicated Civilization, and so on and so forth. This Flower though, had yet to be discovered.

Oh wait, never mind. If I had taken a moment to stop rambling, I could point you right back to the Doctor and what she had just found. Go on, guess what she just found.

The Doctor crossed through the doorway and into the Home, taking only a few steps further inside to stand clear of what remained of the door. Her gaze was locked on the floor as she stooped down, as she brushed aside various litter with both hands. "A fresco on the floor... These people knew artwork. Astonishing... These Roses are the most detailed I've ever seen..." A wave to her Aide. "Jacqueline, this Art. These Roses..."

"Doctor... How is this possible. None of the Districts have hosted Roses. These ancients-"

"The detail... The most Astonishing, Roses."

Just picture the Oval Office, but in red. With two people inside. An Hispanic woman of 34 and a President of 52. The President is sitting down, the woman is standing.

"An entire port in Fodmodmadtol full of Roses? How is this strange?" President Sergei Ilyanov.

Rosa, Minister of Culture. "Yes Mr. President. It is very estranio. You see, Roses cannot grow in Fodmodmadtol."

Sergei raised his brow. "So this means..."

Rosa slammed her fist on the President's table. "This means our history goes back to Ancient times! We have ancestors! We are not European! We are Rosians, Rosians!"

Sergei sighed. "Rosa, you are mad. Even if we had ancestors, they're dead. We have no proof."

Rosa growled. "iIdiota, tu ne realiza que esto es un momento historica! I'm going to Fodmodmadtol myself! I'm going to reasearch this myself!"

Sergei shouted. "Fine, it's not like you'll find anything!"

Rosa stormed out of the room and the slammed the door. Now what did this really mean? Roses in Fodmodmadtol?

Are Rosians and Fodians actually related? Nah, it couldn't be. It's impossible, there were no Ancients here.

Or were there?

Sergei mumbled as Rosa left the room. "Ancients on the Island, ha. That's like saying Diana is good looking. Rosa will look like an idiot..."

Or would she?

And so, Rosa got on a 747 and flew to Fodmodmadtol. This trip would connect the Island and Fodmodmadtol closer then ever. Closer then a fat girl to chocolate. Yes, that close.

((OOC: Let's pretend she's already there. And you can tell her the story then begins the real story, okay?))

"I have to thank you for coming, Miss Rosa. This is truly something of an oddity..."

The Home had been cleaned out of any filth by the Team. It was really only composed of this one large room, and decided to be a Forum of sorts, yet they still settled with calling it The Home. Something of Sentimentality. The Fresco on the floor had been meticulously restored, and it's sheer magnificence was inexpressible in it's complexity. To put it into words was to do it shame. Doctor Freedmyn was standing in the archway of the door, her gaze cast to the Fresco. The Craft still entranced her.

"This though, pales in comparison to what I have to show you. If you will follow me, Miss Rosa." The Doctor turned to Miss Rosa with a smile.

Time skipped a beat.

"Varus, come inside, Fod is visiting for the night. The Oiseau brought with him more Roses... They put my own to shame." This is Aurelia, and she will be your Co-host for today's flashback.

Aurelia stood around average height and of a lean frame, a cappuccino complexion canvassing a relaxed aspect. A tomentum of platinum blonde fell to shoulders, contrasting brilliantly with her skin tone. Garbed in loosely fitting robes of thick fur and hide, colors dyed into them of yellow and black, her appearance was larger than what was reality. Framed perfectly in that brass, are her Eyes. Deep and glowing Eyes, radiant in knowledge itself.

Aurelia smiled, flashing pearly whites.

A gesture through the archway, beckoning Varus to come in from the cold.

Miss Rosa, a nice looking hispanic woman of 35, in her nice business suit. Yes she is now wearing a business suit. As I was saying, she looked very nice, in fact she looked 21 or is it 27? Either way, she was a very wonderful looking woman. Her black hair shining everywhere. She looked at the fresco with amazement. "Dios mio...." she said to herself. She looked at the Home with amazement for a few long seconds, it seemed like minutes actually. Then she looked at the Doctor. "Yes." She said. "Let's go."

Flashback!

Varus was a well built man. He didn't have too many muscles, just enough. His hair was brown, not black not blonde. Because if he was blonde he would've looked like... extravagant is the word. But at least he shaved, no beard for him. He wore a nice robe also, but not as extravagant, it looked used and abused. He had a small sword hanging from his waist, like most men usually had. But all and all, he looked manly.

He chuckled. "I'm coming." He said. Yes I have nothing else to say.

((OOC: It's okay. So, did you have an idea about me liberating something? If so TG me.))

"You've met my friend Fod before, haven't you Varus? From Epsilonia?"

After a few steps inside, she threw the heavier robes to the floor. A blank floor. No Fresco of any sort graced it's face.

"His Roses are stunning."

Against one wall of the single room, was a vase. A vase that stood three quarters of ones height, decorated in gold and red patterns that spiraled across curved white porcelain in bold or audacious sweeps. A Floral pattern, not so obviously, if extremely abstract. Collected neatly, and sitting full from the vase brim, were Roses. Odd... As they seemed to be an extension of the design. Surreal, no?

Aurelia nodded over to the vase.

"He's wonderful at the Craft he is. Even though he no longer believes in the Rose, he still creates such things. Odd, that."
