'Slavian Band to play Rockstock
Lemur on all-star bill
Audioslavian rock institution Lemur are set to blow Sliponian crowds away with a set at the inaugral RockStock festival.
The psycho-core rock band's spikey front-man Scott Wallace was talking to NME's own Chris Baker about the gig.
SCOTT: Its brilliant, i love festivals because theyre much less work than proper gigs, plus we get to play in the sun so, you know, its gonna be cool
NME: Thats true but youre pretty far down the bill, kind of shows that youre not as big everywhere as you are here?
SCOTT: Aye thats true but we're too weird for that sort of thing y'know? We play foreign places and theyre not into the big sounding stuff, y'know? I mean theres a huge heavy metal scene in Sliponia so hopefully they all like loud music, but i'm not sure what the reaction will be when we come on. I mean, we'll be playing loud, and i mean fucking loud, but we aren't a metal band, our sound isn't heavy, it isn't fast, its just, you know, 'big'.
NME: You reckon its gonna be as 'big' as Canis Lupis? Those guys are after you
SCOTT: Aye and thats cool, Lupis are awesome, i saw them last year and they just ripped everyone a new asshole, theres no-one doing that in Audioslavia, y'know? Theres metal bands, you know, those black/death/whatever metal bands but theres none who have the sort of subject matter like Canis Lupis's last album. I love the fact that CL are touring more often, hopefully they'll come to Audioslavia when they get the money from this festival!
NME: Heh, what about the headliners? Monaa and Starlight Conspiracy?
SCOTT: Well the fuckin' name 'Monaa' speaks for itself, fucking huge band and theyre awesome, i'm gonna lay off the alcohol after our set just so i can experience them, y'know, just experience that fuckin' band
NME: No alcohol all day?
SCOTT: I said 'after' our set dude
NME: Ah right, heh, what about Starlight Conspiracy? Theyre not much liked over here
SCOTT: Aye but thats just because of this dumb backlash against emo but theyve progressed so much y'know? OK so their first album was a bit one dimentional but have you heard their latest stuff?
NME: I have yeah, can't say i like it, its emo
SCOTT: Seriously? I reckon its the best shit theyve done, its an awesome sound their guitarist have, i love the disjointed aspect, that Kyussish grind mixed with the trippy shit, its sounds pretty hot.
NME: Fair enough, finally Scott is there anyone else you fancy seeing
SCOTT: Aye i wanna check out Left Behind, just cos i wanna see how hard people from Stupidheadland can rock, i've got a bet on that theyre gonna be wank, heh
NME: Hah, nice, theyre playing covers, which is quite weird
SCOTT: Yeah im not such a big fan of bands playing other people's songs unless its an oldie or one thats been forgotten, still, it'll be good to hear 'em.
NME: OK man, thanks for talking to us. Take care
'Lemur' stock the rock at rockstock on the thirtieth of november, exclusive highlights can be found on http://www.NME.co.aud on the second of december.

"We do not wish Lemur to feel like they are not good. In Sliponia, it's standard practice that the better, or more well-known acts play later. As it has been a long while since Lemur has been to Sliponia we put them at 6:00pm but still one of the headlining acts."

" . . . and in international news, Sliponia is hosting the largest music festival in recent history, RockStock. Taking up 12 solid hours, fans from all over the world are expected to attend. Major acts include Monaa, Canis Lupis, and Starlight Conspiracy. It looks like a great show, and admission's only 20 dollars, with another 20 bucks cover. XRTV will be covering it live, so be sure to watch!"
John flicked off the TV. He'd tuned in to the underground television station in hopes of finding something entertaining, but instead found more crap about RockStock. XR had been talking about it for weeks, first rumors, then the official announcement of bands, and now this was all they were giving for their international news summary. Maybe it's be more interesting if I was actually going, he thought to himself, taking a sip of his warm soda. He slowly walked over to his bedroom, pausing to crank up the air conditioning and drop the now-empty soda can in the trash. Tajahv is kinda short on rock concerts.
The southern Clatanatian city of Tajahv, like much of the south, was heavy on artists, and fancied itself a cultural center, but it was lacking in the music area. John, with Mark, who he shared an apartment with, had tried to start a band in high school, but that had kinda fizzled when they dropped out of schol in Clat City and come here, living on government cash, and making just enough money to ensure the continued flow of said cash.
Finding what he was looking for, John grabbed his old guitar, and sat on the bed plucking out a tune that he'd been working on a couple years back. It's not too bad, he remarked to himself, but not half as good as any of the stuff Monaa put out. Man, if only . . .
He was snapped out of his reverie by a loud call from the direction of the front door. Mark was back from wherever he'd been. "Yeah?" he called back.
"C'mere!"
"Alright, hang on." John ran back down the hall to the living room and front door. "What is it?"
"OK, check this out." Mark pulled out an envelope from his pocket. "You know RockStock?"
"Of course I know RockSto- holy shit dude, you didn't!"
"I did. Three tickets, plus plane fare, both ways."
"Who's the third for?"
"Remember Rob? Rich kid back in high school? Played drums? He's paying."
"No way. You got tickets to RockStock. I can not believe this. Damn."
"We leave tomorrow, from South Frances Airport. Bring cash, and your Monaa album. Maybe you can get it signed."

Kimch'aek, North East Korea
The Limousine rolled down Party Avenue, directly down the central road towards the Politburo Headquarters. They moved rather quickly as they travelled in the lane reserved for senior party members, with a police car in front and behind them as they kept the road clear with their wailing sirens.
Inside the sound-proofed vehicle, a tall, 18 year-old Korean was reclining in the back seat whilst talking on a mobile telephone. A glass of vodka sat on a small table in front of him next to where he lay his foot. The speakers above him blew out the Hard Rock of AC/DC at a reduced volume.
"So you got them then?" The teenager listened earnestly. Then he laughed and clenched his fist in victory. "Great! What?" He listened again and took a sip of his drink. "Yeah, all the transports arranged. Yes, and the bodyguards. Look, it'll all be fine." He then smiled. "Yeah, yeah, okay. Don't worry, I'll be fine."
The limousine took a left turn at speed, leaning the vehicle on its suspension. The cars in the slower lanes shot past them as if in reverse. "Yeah, okay I'll be there soon. I love you too, Dad." He pushed a button on his mobile and smiled.
Politburo Headquarters
President Zhou Ke Hui smiled to himself as he put the telephone down and turned back to the Politburo meeting. "Kids and their rock music, eh?" He said with a shrug. A collective laugh went up from the table; some of them were parents, others were just sychophantes.
"Right," the President said, leaning forward. "Next on the Agenda..." He consulted the paper in front of him. "National Defence."
OOC: Hope you don't mind the President's son coming along - I'm not sure about your nation's policy towards Communism. Also, the three bodyguards that will be with him will not carry weapons if you do not wish.

Sliponian President Jesse Ross makes his way to the podium.
Ross: Sliponia welcomes President Zhou Ke Hui's son. We ask that his guards carry non-lethal wepaons, but it is merely a suggestion. We will provide additional armed security. We have no reason to distrust your nation. We'd rather your guards use non-lethals because if something does happen, and someone ends up deceased, we'd be able to avoid conflict because it'd be our detail with the lethal weapons.

With Monaa topping the bill at RockStock, some expressed surprise. Davae Hawl spoke diplomatically on finding the news: 'We have been big; everyone has been quieter since the SLAGLandic scene died and the international outlets died away; ultimately, it's great to find that we're still remembered.'
The band have confirmed that they will play 14 songs including a three-track cover medley, but refused to be drawn on any further details. 'We know now, and you'll know then,' said Davae Rogas.
Meanwhile, harmony singer Casee Wattas, who has never performed live with Monaa before, is preparing for what could be the shock of her life. 'Goodness knows how many people will be there - I just hope I deal with it and enjoy myself,' she said. Her inclusion will probably assure the inclusion of new material but nobody knows what. To add to the air of mystery, Davae Hawl confirmed the band's next single will be a double A-side with a cover and an original track, but did not say which songs.

IC:
An excerpt from a recent article/interview in the underground metal/rock mag' Mental concerning the participation of Canis Lupus in the large Rockstock music festival.
A Grand Foreign Escapade
-by Freydis Bjarni
There's no rest for the wicked (pardon the cliche), as premier black metal band, Canis Lupus, head to Sliponia to participate in the huge Rockstock festival with only a one week break after their tour of Callisdrun and Rotenburg. This continues the band's bounce back from an extended hiatus due to unfortunate circumstances surrounding vocalist/guitarist Katarin Sorvik's prison sentence. They've just released a new album to wide acclaim, their second LP since her release. Rumors have been flying as well that the band has been trying to contact butchers in the area of Sliponia that the festival is to be held in. We managed to catch up with bassist/vocalist Knut Tveitan and Katarin Sorvik herself after a rehearsal. They do appear somewhat different, offstage and in street clothes.
Freydis- Would you two happen to have time for an interview?
Knut- Ya, sure.
Kat- Of course
Freydis- All right. So it's been confirmed that you're playing at Rockstock, right down to the time and everything. There have been rumors of you guys contacting local butchers in the area, do these have any merit?
Kat- Well, yes, they do. We need certain materials for our stage show.
Knut- However, we will not tell you the exact nature of the requests, as we're making a couple changes to our stage set for the concert, and we want them to come as a bit of a surprise.
Freydis- Awwww... you won't tell me all the details? [Knut and Kat shake their heads]. Anyway, on your recent tour, you played a fairly long set, but you only have an hour in the festival. What kind of changes will you make?
Knut- We've been discussing that, and we're making a few changes. We won't, unfortunately, be having the couple of songs from the first album with Callisdrunian lyrics, in order to make the show a little shorter.
Kat- Though, were only cutting a couple songs. Four at max.
Freydis- Won't that be a bit... packed then, for only an hour?
Kat- Yeah, I guess. We can cut short the banter in between songs a bit. And if we do go over, who cares? We're assholes. [Knut and Freydis laugh]
Freydis- Katarin, I know you've been asked about this constantly for a year and a half now, but can you tell us a bit about prison? What were you convicted of, etc.?
Kat- [sighs] Two arsons. Only one was inside Callisdrun though. I burned down the office of this dude in the Fascist party. The one who got arrested recently for fraud, actually. The other one was a church in Altar Rang. When I got back, the authorities were not amused. Prison food isn't that bad, by the way, and they even had a chess club.
Freydis- I see. Your new album, Plains of Sorrow has been quite successful. I've heard it myself, and I must say, it's quite an album. It's your third release with a unified theme. Can you tell us a bit more about its development?
Knut- Well, it's really our first true concept album. The first two albums both had overall themes, but they weren't really coherent, like this one is. The third album was just a collection of songs thrown together, cause we weren't really organized right then.
Kat- Cause I had just gotten out of prison when we made that one. And we had to find a new keyboard player, so it was really kind of haphazard on that one. At that time, we didn't really know what Idun was capable of.
Knut- Yeah, Idun's an amazing player. She wrote most of the melodies on Plains. It definitely would not have been possible to create this... collossus four years ago.
Freydis- In many places, it sounds almost like some sort of demented symphony. You really tell a story in this one though, who wrote the lyrics?
Kat- Mostly me and Knut. He'd come up with the basic idea and storyline, as it were, and I'd fill in the details. Everybody wrote some though. Atilla wrote the spoken parts that are in Callisdrunian. Idun and Bjorn wrote "Voices in the Wind," actually. That's the slow, almost funereal one.
Knut- Yeah, that one is pretty fun to play, to, expecially in Istengrad, cause everbody gets really into it, cause you know, the history happened pretty much right there. This album was strange in that it took us as long to write the lyrics as to write the music, cause we had to do so much fact-checking because it's all history, and we didn't want to have any factual errors, you know?
Freydis- It still took surprisingly little time, but you probably wrote much it while on tour, right? [Knut and Kat both nod]. Earlier this week, a member of Lemur, one of the other bands in Rockstock mentioned you in an interview. What do you make of it?
Kat- Yeah, that would be Scott Wallace, of Lemur. May come as a surprise to most people, but I like that band. We'll probably watch the first half of their show, but unfortunately, we'll have to get ready for our set right before the end. Who knows, maybe they'll come up to Callisdrun on tour sometime in the summer or something so I'll get to see them.
Knut- I was actually quite surprised when I heard about that, cause I didn't think we were that well known outside our immediate region. It's definitely very gratifying to be taken seriously so far abroad. I'll also be watching their set until we have to get ready. The first band, Saen (OOC: sorry, haven't figured out how to do funny symbols yet, cause I'm hella lazy) will also be pretty good to see.
Freydis- Thanks for the interview, I'll be covering the event for Mental, any last words to the fans?
[Katarin and Knut gleefully yell something in incomprehensible old Callisdrunian that nobody but their fans seems to be able to understand].

Lemur Rock Cornellby
Legends on top form in Rockstock warm-up
The CoalPit in Cornellby has never seen anything like it. OK, so they've been the most famous stepping-stone for those big bands like Mailman and Bullet Theory who played their before getting uber-huge, but the 500-capacity venue has never hosted a band like Lemur before.
Technically, of course, it wasn't Lemur. The CoalPit ran advertisements on its doors and www.coalpit.co.aud/cornellby for just seven days before the gig, advertising some band called 'Remul Rockots', who were due to be supporting new-boy funk-metallers Begbie on the Cornellby stage of their national club tour. Of course, rumours began circulating on Begbie's official site that the support act were none other than Lemur themselves.
Within days, the rumour had spread and messageboards on rock websites all over the country were heaving with the words 'Are Lemur Playing Coalpit?' Few knew for certain until the night itself, the uncertainty increasing as a website, 'www.remulrevolution.co.aud' was set up with a picture of an unrecogniseable band, tour dates which included the Begbie slot as well as a few other dates at other Coal-Pit venues (namely the Metro in Machinegrad and Caylerden's CoalPit).
The website however, was proved to be an official hoax at 8:49pm. The familiar tribal-drum sound of Lemur's traditional ballistic opener 'Bullets' kicks in and Scott Wallace takes to the stage. Well, 'takes to' is a bit of an understatement, the frontman sprinting towards the barriers, leaping onto them and holding the microphone towards the masses.
Bullets is accompanied by five-hundred voices screaming the words back to Wallace and co, before the band kick in to one of the new songs from their fourth outing 'Etchings of the Ceiling'. The song, Wasted Traitor, isn't treated to the same reception as Bullets, but the die-hard fans are appeased afterwards by a rare airing of first-ever single Mr. Johnstone, complete with sing-along chorus 'Mr. Johnstone play your single blues, Fuck me with your pretty shoes'.
Various classics and newbies are given outings in the set, with old favourites 'Forethought' and 'Malice' being given the best reception.
Despite the brilliance of Lemur's set, it is the final two songs that let them down. Fade to White is too familiar and isn't nearly as powerful enough as the crowd wants it to be. Wallace's voice was tired and failing and the man himself was noticeably uncomfortable, relying on the crowd to fill in the gaps.
Set closer and unofficial national-anthem 'Brained' induced the expected frenzied moshing and chanting (repeat after me, 'Braaaaiiiyaaayyywoooooooyaaayyaaained COME ON' *cue headbanging and devil-horns, all very rock) but again the song was played by a tired band. Thats why we have these gigs though, so the bands can fuck up in front 500 so they dont fuck up in front of 50,000.
With RockStock rolling around in three days, Lemur look as if theyve still got it, even though 'it' may need a splash of WD40. Either way, don't expect RockStock to have an easy ride with the Cornellby trio on the way.
You have been warned...

(just insert the first part of this post in with the other plugs at the top of the thread)
Left Behind, Squornshelous' own pseudometal sensation is one of the featured bands at this international concert, held in Sliponia. Lead Vocalist Jamal Stevens is impressed with the lineup of bands playing. "It's really awesome playin with bands like Nongod and §æÑ, and followin up Canis Lupus will be tough." "Our styles are different enough that it won't be a problem," said Bassist Sam Screet. THe whole band is looking forward to a killer show, hopefully a sellout.

9 am, Arrival:
A black bus with a stylized LB on the side and back pulled up to the backlot of the Rockstock stage. As soon as the doors were open, Jamal Stevens leaped out, his shoulder length dredlocks waving wildly. Next off was Sam Screet, his shaved head gleaming in the morning sun. Both immediately drew shouts from reporters pushing against metal barriers. Sam and Jamal went over to satisfy the press while the rest of the band took advantage of the situation and sneaked off to their dressing rooms.
Callisdrun
01-12-2004, 23:45
After an extremely long and tedious journey to and then across Sliponia, during which the bus broke down several times, Canis Lupus arrived a little after Left Behind. A few people, but not the band themselves, emerged from the old dingy black vehicle, sweaty and gasping for air. They had forgotten how much hotter most places were than Callisdrun, and the rune-adorned bus lacked air conditioning. The roadies opened the big trailer that contained the band's equipment and began to unload it. Soon, Idun and Bjorn clambered out of the bus. The inside of the bus was hidden, due to the tinted windows. They were followed by Atilla and Katarin. Finally, Knut left the bus. All of them could be seen donning sunglasses and applying large amounts of sunblock to their skin. All were wearing black street clothes, except Idun and Bjorn, who are wearing blue University of Callisdrun shirts. Katarin sent the tour manager over to the conert organizer's place to inquire about rules concerning onstage behavior, in case any last minute changes to their state show were necessary. He was also to ask what time they wanted CL for soundcheck.
Most of the press was crowding around Left Behind, but a few photographers came over to take pictures of the strange band from the north. Katarin gave them a razor blade smile and the "horns up" sign. Her hair was now in many thin, long braids, which made her look somewhat savage. She then continued helping unload the trailer. As well as amps and instruments, out came boxes of t-shirts, CD's and other merchandise.
After the trailer was unloaded, Katarin and Atilla went backstage to rest while Knut, Bjorn and Idun went to where people were already in line to meet with fans.

OOC: Sorry I might not be able to post soon because of exams the entire week  and such coming up...So perhaps can the group be put back at a later time? If so I shall rp it.....
IC: The time indeed was indeed swiftly passing by, as the initial rock-hard fans of §æÑ, and various other alternative music fans began to set up their tents, obviously preparing for the event that would arise within a few days. Despite this, §æÑ was notably not present, after reports recently resurfaced about the groups funding of various extremist groups located across the globe.
However just as the fans of §æÑ began to dismay, a rather large flame-painted limbo began to emerge towards the staff backstage, undoubtly §æÑ by the dramatic entrance they often incite.
After the initial indentification papers upon entrance the limo doors were opened, resulting in three rather large black-hooded figures to emerge from the stretched-car, their identification obvious by the name §æÑ printed all across the shirt. Finally after the huge scene, a sudden rush of reporters started their march towards three of the band members, their questions often out of timing and around the fact that two were currently missing.
"So..You have arrived in style.....But before you go can I enquire as two where the rest of the bandmembers are?...." Asked a young Blonde-haired reporter.
" And what about the recent reports about you....? Our they correct?" Shouted another black-haired reporter.
The group member known as Axe then began to speak, his itentity easily noticeable by his usual calm tone.
"Well....The band-members Veþ and H@dø are currently busy......As for the rumors...We state once again we will not answer because we do not give a f*** really.....Now we must leave please..."
With that final remark the band members started to stride off, escorted by their various bodyguards, whilst also ignoring other curious questions as they walked.
======Backstage area========
Upon arrival into the area, they were met with much dismay once again as it appeared that they were not impressed by their punctuality, and the fact that some were missing.
