How do you make your nation bigger, get a military and all that kind of stuff.

Your nation gets bigger every (RL) day. It increases by a fixed amount (as you get bigger, this amount grows from 1 million/RL day to 7 million/RL day). You have a budget which you can spend on military items to build up your armed forces, along with being able to have between 2 and 5% of your population in your military. 5% is only really possible with a frightening economy, and even then with only about half on active duty.

Where it says "defense" in the bottom left, that's your military budget.
Edit: However, seeing as you don't have one yet (its determined by issues, and you haven't answered many yet, so it hasn't determined military budget) you could probably get away with buying quite a bit, but not more than a few tens of millions of $'s worth or so....
