OOC Nation help/brainstorming

Heres the deal: I have this lovely big nation just lying around (along with a few other, even larger, but they aren't important), and I was wanting to get back into the RP scene. I've familiarised myself with a few changes that have happened here, and made myself a shiny new region.

My problem is that I don't know what to do with this 2.76 billion-person behemoth. Should I RP with all of the people, or a more manageable number? Should I be preset or future or space tech?

What I do have a good idea of is my government and economic structure: very socialized in some ways, but with large corporations providing goods and driving the direction of the nation. Small figurehead royal family with no official power whatsoever, and a large legislative system. One central ~150-person congress, composed of delegates from ~150 smaller, regional congresses. The regional legislatures (and the areas that they represent) would have little power or independence- they exist to allocate funds and deal with relatively local problems. Cities would not have mayors, but be run by the local legislatures.

I need help working on the rest of it, and I need the rest of you folks' input. What's the norm of late? What is there a deficiency of, nation-wise? What sounds really nifty, but you've never tried? Help me out here.

OOC:

I don't think there is any need to reduce the population of your nation. I think you are wondering how best to "break back in", as it were. I dunno. Who did you used to rp with before? What alliances were you or are in now? Maybe give them a shout. Do any particular stories either in II or NationStates strike you as interesting? If so, why not telegram the thread starter? I've found most people fairly reasonable in that regard. Whom do you admire or respect in the forums? Or maybe you've got a brand new story angle you've been cooking up and want to post it. That sometimes works, although don't get disheartened if not many people reply. Sometimes, people just miss a good story due to things being pushed to page two.

Take a look at the NSWiki. (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/NSwiki:Community_Portal) Maybe a nation or alliance will tickle your fancy over there.
