Starblaydi Under-21 squad for U21WC8

Starters
1. Cody Joachim, GK, 17 - Montepool Waves (B)
Notes: Making the starting line-up at the Waves every so often, he's first choice for the Under-21s.
2. Nikola Cortez, R/CB, 20 - Internashionale (A)
Notes: A top utility defender, he's able to help the back line stay strong while Khim rampages off.
3. Khim Azanulbizarn, LB, 21 - Tabeck FC (C)
Notes: The rampaging left-back Dwarf is back again for his last Under-21 before full graduation to the senior side.
4. Fernando Branco, DM, 20 - Basian Valley (B)
Notes: He's a great stopper of counter-attacks, though often fails to get forward.
5. Giorgos Kasiouras, CB, 21 - Veles (C)
Notes: Big and Strong, Giorgy will win most balls in the air.
6. Armand Gianunzio, CB, 19 - Hecia (C)
Notes: Much wilier than the other centre-back, Armand is a lot more talkative.
7. Geraint Evans, Captain, RM, 21 - Hallad Reavers (A)
Notes: Captain in his record 4th tournament thanks to the new system, Evans is Haldorsson-like on the right-hand side.
8. Raphael Delgado, AM, 17 - Hallad Reavers (A)
Notes: Typifying the Reaver's power and pace, Delgado also has a world-class touch which has given him more than a few goals.
9. Marco Del Blanco, AM/CF, 20 - Iskara Daii (A)
Notes: Once again the number one striker for the Under-21s, can he score in every round of the tournament for the second time?
10. Julio Matis, SC , 20 - Penningworth United (C)
Notes: The new 'Laser', or so the Pennies' Fans say, Julio is nevertheless a top striker.
11. Nick Matranga, L/RM, 18 - Montepool Waves (B)
Notes: Every bit as good as hs father, perhaps even better. Nick is two-footed and fast

Coach Terry Mangione announced the roster for the fourth U21 competition for the Sarzonian Junior Stars:

ROSTER (starters in BOLD)

GOALKEEPERS:
30 Brian Tawes (Burlington Braves - minor league): This 20 year old bypassed college to sign with the Braves and has earned the starting job with the team. With Horace Sandt overage, he now steps in as the starter.
18 Tom Beneditto (New Daurmont Dragons - amateur): Despite not playing professionally, Beneditto is probably the best reserve goalkeeper in the country. At 16 years old, he should be a mainstay on the national team for years to come.

DEFENDERS:
3 Mark Clark (Syosset University): Just 20 years old, he earned a starting job at left back as a freshman for his football savvy and earned a high school diploma at 16 because of his off-field smarts.
13 David Trautwig (Bausch State College): The brother of former U21 defender Daniel Trautwig, David quickly earned a reputation as one of the best right halfbacks in college football after his brother graduated (20 years of age).
15 Mike Tippett (New Bolash State College): Noted for his exploits as a right fullback and can play sweeper if the Junior Stars shift to a 3-5-2. At 19 years old, his future with the senior team seems to be all but guaranteed.
4 Kevin Spacek (Portland City College): Known as a great offensive defender, he often goes in to play halfback if the team is trailing and they need an offensive spark. At 19 years old, he plays like an older player.
6 Harvey Benedict (Woodstock Wild): A seldom-used reserve on the defending champions, he will likely get playing time for the Junior Stars. Just turned 19.
22 Henrik Bastale (Portland Timbers): A reserve on the most talented team in the SFC, he also looks to warm the bench for the U21 team until he gains experience. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 16.

MIDFIELDERS
8 Barry Conley (Randolph Reavers - minor league): A distant cousin of defender Mike Conley, this 20 year old shares his relative's speed but also his propensity to get out of position.
9 Valentin Kienzl (Tyrol Tigers - minor league): He just turned 20, but played a vital role in the Junior Stars' success in their first-ever U21 competition with his dangerous left side free kicks.
11 Chris Dunham (Stephen Stills High School, Woodstock): Surprisingly physical for a 18 year old who consistently plays with older players, he easily won the starting job as a defensive midfielder.
19 Karey Lewis (St. George Saints - minor league): Has a striker's knack for scoring, particularly with headers off corners, but plays defense too well to be put up front. He turned 19 last week and can play attacking midfielder if Kienzl struggles.
24 Edward Manley (Woodstock Wild): The 18 year old is a natural on the right flank of midfield. His speed gives defenses fits though he tends to overrun the ball from time to time.
20 Pedro Alomades (St. George): Seemed to be born with a football at his feet. He has ballskills that veteran SFC players envy, but could use a lot of seasoning with a minor league team or the Junior Stars. At 17 years old, may relate best to the youngest of the Junior Stars.

FORWARDS:
26 John Clinton (Lorber State University): Clinton set a school record with 22 goals his freshman season. At 20 years old, has potential to be a dangerous forward for years to come.
17 Carter Buck (Woodstock): Rarely gets on the pitch for his club's senior side, but plays extensively on the reserve team. At just 19 years old, Buck is on the verge of getting some playing time with the traditional powers of the SFC. Is known for his dangerous first touch.
22 Liam Dudley (Cooke State University): Known for a nose for the goal, but needs great service from midfield to be effective.

Junior Stars want 'last hurrah' in Cup

Coach Terry Mangione sat in his office the other day reviewing match tapes of their previous three trips to the Under 21 World Cup. Except for the trip to the finals in World Cup 6, the Junior Stars have been knocked out in the first knockout stages match.

The team's 3-1 loss to Cockbill Street despite the team's attempt to increase its emphasis on defense restarted questions about Mangione's status as Head Coach. Veteran observers of the team noted that the team's attempt to play a more defensive oriented style of play didn't play to the team's strengths on the attack.

"We're going to start playing our style of football," Mangione said. "It's clear that trying to play a different style of football from what we're accustomed to playing didn't work for us."

The team loses goalkeeper Horace Sandt, who backstopped the team to the championship match of World Cup 7 to age. Former starter turned reserve Brian Tawes steps in for Sandt as the team's starting goalkeeper and the team hopes his experience will benefit the team.

"He's going to be key for us," midfielder and team captain Valentin Kienzl said. "We're going to go as far as he's going to take us."

The team is counting on Kienzl to lead the offensive attack as an experienced playmaker and in the locker room. They also said they wanted Kienzl to go out a winner in his final appearance with the team.

"We're going to lose some valuable guys off this team after this World Cup," Mangione said. "We want to send some great guys off with something to remember their time serving this team by."

NEWSFLASH:

There was a collective cry throughout Giant Zucchini today as the draw for the Under 21 World Cup 8 was released. "NOT VILITA AGAIN..."

At their peak, the Zucchinis would not have been afraid of Vilita, but the Zucchinis of old are no more, replaced by a bunch of greenhorns (pun unintended/intended), while Vilita have become a powerhouse in international football, dominating both the Senior and Under-21 World Cups. How will things pan out? This and more, to be continued...

Unlike some teams who will have to battle to get to the second round, many experts say the Sevens can't fail to make the second round playing the suicidal Oaker and Awakawaka. TnUIs attacking play should easily cut through their non-existent defence, with only Crystilakere posing a threat. The Sevens play Oaker in roughly an hour.

Expert Predictions:
Jim Hacker: 7-0
Humphrey Appleby: 6-2
Bernard Woolley: 8-1
Total n Utter Insanity

The Sevens walked all over Oaker, but were unlucky not to score more as they missed half a dozen chances. Oaker themselves could be considered the lucky team, with the ball bouncing off the butt of their goalkeeper twice during the match saving two certain goals. Along with three lucky deflections from defenders and a ball that was sent into orbit in front of the Oakers goal.

Loss leaves Mangione fuming

If the Sarzonian Under 21 national team is going to advance to the knockout stages for the fifth consecutive World Cup, they're going to have to do it the hard way. The Junior Stars lost their opening match for the first time in history, falling 5-1 at the hands of Legalese.

Coach Terry Mangione refused to speak to reporters after the game until a telephone call from the Incorporated Football Federation that came after his initial refusal.

"That was the worst game I've ever seen us play," Mangione said. "We played like [dirt] out there. Unacceptable."

If it weren't for midfielder Valentin Kienzl's goal directly off a corner kick in the 77th minute that cut the Legalese lead to 4-1, the Junior Stars would have been shut out for the first time in a knockout stages match. Sarzonia finished the semifinal match in World Cup 6 against Rejistania scoreless, but won 8-7 in penalties. Forward John Clinton whiffed on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute that would have brought the score level at 1-1.

"We failed in every aspect of the game," Mangione said. "Offense, defense, goalkeeping, you name it." Mangione said 16 year old reserve goalkeeper Tom Beneditto would make his World Cup debut in the next match.

"I know it wasn't all Brian [Tawes]'s fault, but he played a role in it," Mangione said. "I may have to clean house like [Senior National Team Coach Dave Wilson] did." Wilson did that after a 3-1 loss to Lovisa in World Cup 18, including sending in inexperienced goalkeeper Mark Tanner. The Stars won their next match against Northbank, 3-0.

"We've got a long road to climb now," Mangione said. "Liverpool England beat us last time and Esth won't go away. We're going to have to play with urgency now."

Junior Vikings plan on advance, but must do better to win

The Junior Vikings played well for match 1 against the Young Zucchinis, but goalkeeper Franklin Cabrillo could not hold a 4-3 lead and Fmjphoenix drew even with the Zucchinis, 4-4.

The future for the Vikings looks bright, with Larry Brown getting a hat trick in his first international play in U21WC8, scoring the first goal and last two for the Junior Vikings, with Jason Mitchell scoring the one in between for the Vikings. It looked like they were going to cruise to a 4-3 win when Bolger broke free around Viking midfielder Juan Espinoza and took a shot that hooked past Cabrillo to tie the match 4-4 with only 1 minute before stoppage.

If the Vikings want to advance as they did in the previous tournament, they will need to win against Hybredia and play its best against Vilita and hope for a draw if not a win. The team has an outstanding looking future, but we all want to see what it can do now!

Audioslavia 1-2 Maserrat

After Matchday 1 of the last tournament practically decided the group for Maserrat, all eyes were on the two matches today, people urging the form book to win. Their fears were allayed when news came that Jerusalem had thrashed Lovisa 5-2, and all that mattered then was a result against Audioslavia. Once again the form book won out over insanity, and two goals from Militaros superstar Niclas Caremorlacipolinous sealed the three points.

"This was always going to be a tricky game. It's difficult to beat Audioslavia on any day, but we came here with a mission, and we succeeded. The boys did me proud today. This win puts our foot in the door - now we've just got to get the other one there."

Fans are wary of an opening day win - last time round they beat Legalese 1-0 but still went out in third. However, people are very confident that the team can progress this time. With the supposedly easiest game still to be played, and another game against Jerusalem (their third in five tournaments) to come, Maserrat may just make it through this time.

Starblaydia Break Hiiraan in Nine-Goal Thriller
Six Starblaydi Strikes Seal Success

Starblaydia chalked up their highest goal tally in a single Under-21 game as they bagged half-a-dozen against an inexperienced side from Hiiraan.

Raphael Delgado opened the scoring after just one-hundred and sixty seconds, followed soon after by a brace from Marco De Blanco and a fourth from Nick Matranga to leave Starblaydia 4-0 up after half an hour. For once, Starblaydia seemed to actually be killing off a much weaker side, something they haven't done for a long time, if ever. Hiiraan pulled one back, however, before Half Time, to make the scoreline 4-1 to Starblaydia.

With Juilo Matis off for Juan Silva De Souza and Hurin Menegroth making it two Dwarves on the pitch as Delgado stepped off, Starblaydia were caught napping just before the hour as Hiiraan stole another one back for 4-2. The fight-back didn't last long as substitute De Souza restored Starblaydia's three-goal cushion. This only lasted for five minutes itself, as a fumble from Joachim led to a poached goal from Hiiraan. After looking at his bench Under-21s Manager Nikola Lazerevski threw on young Darius Belzaire, aged just fifteen, for his first International Cap with the scoreline standing at 5-3. It didn't take very long for him to score and Belzaire, the first International player to be born after Starblaydia began playing on the international stage, scored his first goal for his country with two minutes left to complete the rout.

Darius, 15, was named after the Lord-Protecor (of Starblaydia) at the time, Darius Starblayde. He is the first player to earn a Cap for his country who was born after Starblaydia contested (and lost) their first match with Vilita in the 15th World Cup Qualifiers. It is some testament to the authorities that Starblaydia have come so far in just a decade-and-a-half, being ranked 14th in the World and seeded 2nd for this tournament, the Eighth Under-21 World Cup.

The old problems are still with Starblaydia, though. The Under-21s have always had a somewhat leaky defence, even at the best of times. Let us hope that now Starblaydia can knock in the goals with gleeful abandon, whilst shoring up their defence further.

In the other match, Druida earned a high-scoring win over the Allied States by a single goal, though Starblaydia's three-goal margin sees them top of Group B after this first game. Just where we like to be.

Final Score:
Starblaydia U21s 6 - 3 Hiiraan U21s

Audioslavia

Interviewer: Hi, Some Dude, tell me your thoughts on Audioslavian youth football, and their crapness in the under 21 world cup

Dude: Well, we won the first one, right, and then we got knocked out straight away, and then we got to a coupla semis, right, and now were shit, we lost games 7-3 and stuff, we cant win dude

Interviewer: And why do you think that is

Dude: Maggie.

Interviewer: Maggie?

Dude: Maggie.

Interviewer: *looking puzzled* do you mean Margaret?

Dude: No man... a fate worse than Margaret

Interviewer: a fate... worse... that Margaret?

Dude: Yeah man thats what im saying. Maggie is like, everything that Margaret wishes she could be, and everything everyone fears she could be. And she's here, shes in our children.

Interviewer: Isn't that illegal

Dude: No dude, not in our children like, physically, but mentally. From a young age all these kids are screwed because they know. Dude, they know

Interviewer: About Maggie?

Dude: About everything.

Interviewer: So why don't we know?

Dude: We do, but we're old now, we've forgotten

Interviewer: So... how do YOU know?

Dude: Its there, look at the faces of all these kids man, all these little Audioslavians in Cornellby and Soundgardia and Machinegrad and Caylerden and Phoenix and Raiden and Wallingham and Tetney and Fatherham. All these kids that are gonna go on to play football and maybe play for a team or maybe the under 21s or maybe even for the full team. They all know of Maggie, but they've forgotten about her at the same time.

Interviewer: But, i dont understand?

Dude: Not a lot of people do.

Interviewer: So... Maggie is something which gets into kids minds

Dude: She's already in the kids minds, don't you see? Margaret can only alter football by existing in reality, and therefore she can be there for people to believe in. Maggie doesn't exist in reality, she isn't a physical thing that can be bribed or worshipped or seen. She's an entity which you cant see, but she's there, she's the reason why Audioslavia always manage to fuck up

Interviewer: But...

Dude: Did you ever wonder why Audioslavia never won anything?

Interviewer: Well...

Dude: Thirty-two years. Audioslavia have been an elite, top ten side for thirty two years. And we've won zip. We've got to two finals in our history. We lost the important one, and won the little one. Before that little Under 21 win thirty-two years ago the power of Maggie was nowhere near what it was now, preWC12, Maggie was docile, but that win and the nearly-win in WC12 awakened her and made her vengeful. She poisoned the minds of our youth. After 21 you can forget, but before that theres always the doubt in your mind, the doubt placed their by Maggie.

Interviewer: But, come on, the real reason Audioslavia's U21 side have won zip is because the national side usually contains at least nine players in the U21 age group. We're usually left with the dregs of the first and second divisions as a talent pool, and then we have the comedy players. Lee Harvey F. Onassis, what was that about

Dude: Its more than that. Are you saying that, with four billion people in our country, we can't find eleven that are under the age of twenty-one and can beat Maserrat in a football match? We out-number the Maserratians by four-to-one dude, we have infintely more resources and a richer football history

Interviewer: But they have a good football side too

Dude: Better than Audioslavia?

Interviewer: Well, yes, they beat us fair and square, eleven on eleven, they scored two, we scored one

Dude: But don't you see? Its Maggie, its Maggie corrupting the minds of the 'slavian kids. They all believe they cant win, thanks to Maggie. She slows them down, she fucks with their heads. She's the master of puppets. We are the Maggie's tennis balls, twisted and banded as she sees fit.

Interviewer: So where does Maggie come from?

Dude: She has relations with Margaret, she has links with Snub Nose 38, but it all happened in ancient history, its a dark tale, one that no-one is really sure of. Only the government know

Interviewer: The government know of Maggie?

Dude: Yes. Think of international football as the Kennedy assasination. Margaret is in the school-book suppository, the motorcade is the random-number god, Rejistania is on the phone to the driver, Java is the magic bullet, Maggie is on the grassy knoll, the results are 'back and to the left'.

Sir Trefor Sinclair's side lose again to Starblaydia

Just as it was two years ago, Starlaydia defeated Druida on Matchday Two of the Under-21 World Cup. Julio Matis, just like two years ago, opened Starblaydia's scoring, though it was substitute Juan Silva De Souza who sealed the victory with fifteen minutes to go.

With Six points already, Starblaydia should make it through to the Second Round, though mathematicians are still working through the night to figure out exactly how Starblaydia can't qualify. This should turn out to be the fifth time in six attempts that Starblaydia have progressed from the Group Stage, which combined with two 3rd-Placed finishes, is the reason why Starblaydia are the second-best Under-21 team in the world.

Final Score:

The young Orange-Blues

For the first time, another coach than Jisu Jetta will bring the young ones to astonishing successes or horrible failures: Siki Rej. Somehow he managed to escape the ceasing of Avenging Altos, but he says nothing more than that he 'followed the white zucchini'. Of course, Siki Rej is only coach pro-forma. Everyone knows that the real coach is in the cellar of the ASR: the Hexatux 2.0 (nicknamed Karelatux in the last U21 cup). We all hope that it will run more stable than the first version, which tended to crash when the goalkeeper was substituted or the tactics were changed more than thrice in a match.

Don: Welcome back to Total n Utter Insanity, where the u21s have had a good start to the group phase, with a 5-1 victory over national rivals Sarzonia, as well as a shootout with Esth, taking home a 4-4 draw.

Jim: Righto there, Don. With upcoming opponents Liverpool England already in the round of 16, the youth Black and Red may have a chance to at least come home with a draw, and ensure the other spot from group A. Other than that, a loss would allow Legalese, who leads Esth by 3 points, as well as by 5 in goal differential, to advance, provided Esth cannot make up the ground. Look for a stronger defensive effort to be the key to Legalese's play with Liverpool England.

Young Philosophers lead Group A

The young Philosophers stunned the nation when news filtered into the country of their surprise 3-1 win over the group's top seeds Sarzonia. When asked about it, Ha~e Hangila, national Football Director and coach of the under 21 team, expressed his surprise by saying, "We're without some players, they're with the under 23 squad in The Eagles Nest [doing the Eagles Cup]. Some of our key players, like Gordon [Tudomich, 1 assist and 1 goal in 2 games] and Hernan [Damian, 2 goals in 2 games] are doing very well over there and as such I didn't want to call them back. We've got ample backup, and I think it's a realistic aim to reach the quarterfinal stage."

Tommy Carmen (2) and Yuriy Francis got the goals.

It seems that this year's U21 team is a little better than the team from the last Cup.

Maybe just a little bit.

Aquiliana's U21 team was able to defeat the unranked Eagle's Nest team easily, leading to speculation that this could be the team to propel Aquiliana up the world rankings. If the can come up with 3 goals every game, they'll more than likely contend for the title.

NEWSFLASH:

The Young Zucchinis faced the Fmjphoenix Junior Vikings in their first match in the Under 21 World Cup 8. The match started with a bang, Larry Brown striking in the 9th minute, dribbling into the box before placing his shot into the bottom left corner beyond the reach of Esh. Naldorino equalised soon after though, and cut into the box from the left, latching onto a pass from Navdid and placing his first time shot into the far bottom corner in the 17th minute. Bolger gave the Zucchinis the lead 10 minutes later with a spectacular individual goal, Luciano passing to Bolger before running half the length of the field, skipping past Viera Primo and smashing his shot into the back of the net, leaving Cabrillo no chance. But the Vikings were no pushovers, and they equalised 8 minutes later, with an even better goal from Jason Mitchell. After receiving the ball on the right, he outturned all his markers, outran all the defenders, and then rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into an empty net. After the thrilling first half, the second took off with the same energy as the first. 8 minutes into the restart, Radolno had a brilliant dipping half-volley towards the far bottom corner barely touched away by Cabrillo. On the hour mark, Brown had his chance to take the lead for the Junior Vikings after falling in the box, the referee awarding a penalty and a yellow card for Merguez. However, Brown’s penalty to the top right corner was well anticipated by Esh, and the penalty was cleared with a strong punch. 3 minutes later, it was Navdid’s turn to rue a missed chance, a poor clearance by Cabrillo put the ball at Navdid’s feet, but his swerving half-volley hit the post after beating the keeper. He was left to rue it even more as the Junior Vikings took the lead for the second time, a brilliant passing maneuver down the left put the ball at Brown’s feet, and after beating Luciano with 2 stepovers, he chipped the ball over Esh, who got a hand to it, but with Brown already clear, he slotted the ball into the empty net. 7 minutes later, Brown took the score to 2 : 4 with a vicious strike after breaking through a confused defence with only 12 minutes to go for his hat-trick. However, just 5 minutes from time, the Zucchinis pulled one back through a set piece, Merguez charging forward and latching on to a throw in before lashing the ball into the net, Cabrillo with no chance of saving it. The Young Zucchinis completed their comeback with a late equaliser from Bolger, once again from the throw with a swerving shot leaving Cabrillo helpless. Head Coach Nebitez, “We scored 2 from set pieces, meaning that our work on the training ground is showing fruit on the pitch. However, we have real defensive problems we have to settle if we want to go far in this competition.” The Young Zucchinis take away one point from this match, but the sprightly form of Larry Brown is what has caught the attention of Giant Zucchini clubs awaiting the opening of the transfer window.

Lose for Exprience, Starblaydia Goes For #1

A hard lose to the Starblaydia U21s made a whole lot of difference, after making sure giving such a spectacle and an almost comeback, Hiiraan goes On to face the lowland clans tomorrow, And as the lowland clans lost to druida, Hiiraan seeks to take advantage of their low moral team and get on with games, Tomorrow game is also promised to even make a bigger thriller, because of the sense of gained experienced that the team had today, starblaydia was not only hard to challenge but very defensive minded, although 3 goals went in, more experience, and a high rise of value to the players came out of that match, Hiiraan seeks to demolish the lowland clans and take the a second team lead righter under Starblaydia and tied to druida, who have won the first game and ironically lost the second.

The goals which came from abdi, which was the most spectacular Goal ever Recorded on Hiiraan FF history. Hiiraan has also made full international cease from the world community and will be seeking nor only to perfect its team but to make other teams cry out for us, also the government in a Press announcement said they were hoping to organize a tournament under the Hiiraanina name, the would be tournament is now being planned to be seasonal, every 6 months or 1 year or so, a tournament also said was going to be tough and challenging for unprepared teams, the nation also prepared a report which will be sent to rejestania on Saturday that is coming, which we hope we will hope sponsors the tournament under the WCC and World cup community.

5 star Jeruselem and Maserrat get some luck

It's only Match day 1 of the U21 Championship/WC XVIII and some exciting news already. One look at Group E and you see tough group. The ever-present Audioslavia, Jeruselem's nemisis Lovisa, unlucky Maserrat and our course perennial finals-appearing Jeruselem.

Jeruselem scored in unexpectly large win over Lovisa with a 5-2 thumping to match Lovisa's wins over the Jeruselem world cup teams. With the NOR 4-4-2 formation, Jeruselem wasn't expected to post that many goals against quality opposition. Lovisa started well with usual early goal, but the Jeruselem midfield with it's attacking options soon retaliated with a decisive attacks from the wing providing the strikers with some quality ball. The Squire attack fired and soon was making the Lovisa keeper work.

It was too much for Lovisa as Jeruselem slammed in 5 goals but allowed Lovisa the consolidation goal at the end. Commentators say the Becks World Cup magic did the trick with this team.

Maserrat upset WC giants Audioslavia 2-1 for a positive start to their campaign. Surely, things will heat up as the U21 goes on!

A WIN AND A DRAW SO FAR
Trefor Blackmore says the spectrums' game against Hiiraan is vital.

The under-21 version of the Druida rainbows, the spectrums, have so far had a mixed campaign in their world cup. The team are now managed by an unknown figure after Druidan President Margaret Smith sacked one of his aides from the job last time around. The manager has not made an appearance at any of the games so far, or if he has, then noboby has noticed them. If they have, then they're doing a good job of keeping it quiet.

Anyhow, the spectrums have so far beaten The Lowland Clans by a goal in seven, before being turned over by their Bekkside neighbours Starblaydia. Again. Tonight in the group, TLC take on Hiiran in a match no-one dares lose. If it is a Hiiraan win of a draw, then the spectrums' fate is in their own hands, as they will no what they will have to do against the team from Africa. However, if The Lowland Clans win, then the spectrums will have to do better against Hiiraan than TLC do against Starblaydia. So it is still pretty unlikely that Druida will do out, but somehow, knowing the Druidan record in four-team qualifying groups, they probably will.

Apprentices Beat Krytenia, Shampoo
Second Round, Here We Go Again

Another Under-21 World Cup - yes, they come every two years now, which means that many of the young players from the last time around are still in the squad - and the Apprentices continue on their fine form from last year, where they finished fourth after beating Sarzonia and Aquiliana. Led by the half-Starblaydi Juan Maria al-Axewielder - the logic being the Starblaydis can't beat themselves - and captain Niall McLavish, the team are talented enough to go all the way. But potential is not enough, and the back line - as usual in U-21 matches - struggle. Carston and Gurshley, who had the experience from U21WC7, did not really cooperate well with Haemimorphite and Widdleston. As a result, Krytenia led 2-1 at half-time in the Streetians' first game, but a beauty of a free-kick from al-Axewielder and Jonny Trobdon's long shot saved a 3-2 victory.

The second match, against Wella, was even more tense. Down 0-2 in the fourteenth minute after goals by Szywzyzyzyzyczek and Wyzycycyzwieciwicz, the Streeters wanted to attack, but struggled in the opening half. Thus, the Streeters were down 0-2, and in complete disarray.

A good talking-to from coach Ulafr Ulafsson helped turn the match completely around. Alan Canning led the way with a hat-trick in ten minutes, while Samuel Toshack made it 4-2 in the twenty-second minute. Some sloppy defending led to Wytywyszywyszyczek scoring off a header, making it 3-4, but substitute William Roberts decided the game with a fine strike from ten metres. The Streeters are now through to the second round, having won their first two matches while the other teams have fought it out against themselves, and must be prepared for opposition from Group E - either Jeruselem, Maserrat or Audioslavia, neither of which sounds very easy.

Starblaydia make it Three from Three
100% Record in Group B Sees Starblaydia Through

Starblaydia won the third and final Group Match of the 8th Under-21 World Cup by four goals to two. Starblaydia's attack was working like clockwork as per usual, but their leaky defence allowed the Allied States' team to put two past Cody Joachim.

Starblaydia's four-goal scoring spree demolished the Allied States' goal difference, meaning that Druida only need a point against Hiiraan in their final match to progress to the Second Round along with their Bekkside neighbours.

Juilo Matis' second of the Tournament, plus a Brace from Captain Geraint Evans and a glorious diving-header from substitute Kurt Recinos gives Starblaydia a more-than-healthy twelve goals in three matches, whilst conceding five.

Who awaits us in the Second Round? I have no idea, not even my IRC Crystal Ball is telling me. Whoever it is, though, Starblaydia will have a good chance of victory. Unless its Bedistan, of course. Damn those Cubs...

Final Score:

Maserrat 2-2 Jerusalem

Maserrat's second ever international match was against Jerusalem in U21WC4, and it ended 1-1, in what was then a major shock. Today a similar result was observed, only this time it was 2-2, and it wasn't nearly so much of a shock. Only six positions separate Maserrat from Jerusalem in the rankings, and the Dynamos could have hoped, perhaps even expected, something from this match.

With the first match's star, Niclas Caremorlacipolinous, sidelined for today's game, all eyes turned to new boy Kriystos Gorkos to justify his selection. The Placeian didn't disappoint as he scored the first goal in a match laden with excitement and incident.

Gorkos' moment came in the 19th minute, when he skillfully worked the ball around the Jerusalem defense before tapping it nonchalantly past the keeper.
Twenty minutes later the equaliser came when a defensive mistake allowed a shot on an open goal to be turned in easily. The finla two goals came in second-half stoppage time, Jerusalem taking the lead on 91 minutes before Maserrat equalised just thirty seconds later.

The draw virtually puts Jerusalem through, barring a complete and utter miracle against Audioslavia tomorrow, meaning that the other place will go to either Maserrat or Lovisa. Lovisa beat Audioslavia 5-4 today, perhaps hinting at a slight weakness in the defense that could be exploited by the team. Tomorrow's match against Lovisa is set to pull record numbers, as it could be the first time Maserrat finish in the top two. Avoiding defeat would see them through, and there's even a chance they could finish top of the group. Of course, a defeat would consign them to (have a guess) THIRD PLACE for the fifth tournament in a row, but hopefully this won't happen. And if it does...don't even ask!

Young Orange-Blues Win the war
According to the very limited knowledge of latin in the halls of the KaMaRi Update, the word bellum refers to war. That is the explanation of this a bit strange headline for a simple U21 match. The match had the heated chracter of a very important match. For the team from Cacobellum, soccer is not a matter of life and death, it is far more important. The young Orange-Blues also wanted to proof their class and so the match started with fierce attacks and many controversial situations. However, the general talent of some Cacobellian players reminded of the 5th rejistani league while most rejistanis play in the 1st one. Sekekehiramemakarixajada Akixisiyira, who plays for Sijitalatirikimidateme-Inanakasesyja Ines, was the first one to score for the young Orange-Blues. A penalty kick was awarded after a cacobellian player fouled Tilil Re~n. Jariakeledema Ky-Inidiviayu wanted to shoot, but the securitypointed their guns at him because the scoreboard apparently still could not handle long names. Sekekehiramemakarixajada Akixisiyira had simply his nickname "Hanij" (meaning "the snake") on his kit. that was the reason why the insanican security expected nothing bad when he stepped up. However the scoreboard operators did not want another malfunction: They simply wrote "That guy".

During the rest of the match, the Orange-Blues gained dominance and were able to increase the score to 6:0 (Jariakeledema Ky-Inidiviayu was simply abbreviated as "The other guy").

The result:
Rejistania 6 (Akixisiyira 7th, Ky-Inidiviayu 17th 34th 83rd, S. Kansu 65th, E. Kansu 78th)

Tadjiks karela-ed
The actual coach Hexatux 2.0 was fed with many data from Karela Lines matches and due to that, it learned the tactics well. The "Karelatux" told the team through Siki Rej to play a highly defensive strategy, said System Karela. Most of the match was the way, rejistanis like it and foreigners hate it: destructive football which prevented every chance from happening. The all-out-defense however gave themselves no good chances to score too. This did not change until the 87th minute. A sudden attack, unexpected for the Tadjiks, was sucessfull. Ky-Inidiviayu'he was again successfull for the young Orange-Blues. The 1:0 was the final score.

Coach Siki Rej commented about the match: "We win, and I think that we did it in style. I know that System Karela is infamous for some people, but it is effective, efficient and amyn rejistanis like it."

The result:
Rejistania 1 (Ky-Inidiviayu 87th)

Junior Vikings play hard but come up short against Vilitan U21's

THe Junior Vikings played a tough match against the U21 squad from Vilita, but could not hang on for a win. It was mostly quiet for the first half, with Larry Brown putting one over Vitilan Goalkeeper Ilias Soma-Phiri for the only score in the first half. Then the shots came pouring in. Only 2 minutes into the second half, Mauro Baraza came charging downfield, got a great pass from Maurizio Sala and sent it past Franklin Cabrillo to tie it up 1-1. Five minutes later, its was all Riccardo Appolloni, breaking past all three Junior Viking defenders and hammered the ball in the back of the net for a 2-1 lead. Fmjphoenix retaliated back ten minutes later wiht Bruce Chen hooking one in at the top right corner of the net to tie it up 2-2. IT looked like it would be a 2-2 draw, but in the first minute of stoppage, Baraza put it over Cabrillo one more time for a 3-2 victory.

This makes things a little harder for Fmjphoenix, as they are now facing a ust win situation against Hybredia if they want to qualify. Look for the Junior Vikings to fight it out to the very end and try to make it in to the second round.

-------------------Vilitan Future prospect Riccardo Appolloni scored his first ever goal in competitive international play 42 minutes in to the first half for what would turn out to be the match winner over Hybredia. Julio Ncube was awarded a surprise start, and provided a debut brace to set the Jungle Kitties off to a sailing start. Defender Petros Alfieri also netted his first international tally, the 21 year old Arcticala Inlet defender pressing for a place in the senior squad for the upcoming World Cup 19 Qualifiers. Manolis Ipoua's first international goal in first half stoppage time gave Vilita a 5-0 lead into the half. The unheard of Hybredia team surprisingly struck back in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals, but the Jungle Kitties held on to extend their Under-21 Win Streak to 6 matches.

NEWSFLASH:

The Young Zucchinis faced Hybredia in their second Under-21 World Cup match. Yet again, it was a fast paced affair, with many chances created on both ends of the pitch. Hybredia had the chance to take the initiative right at the start, a beautiful pass through the Zucchini defence left their striker in the box with only the keeper to beat 5 minutes into the game, but his shot skidded wide of the far post. Barely 2 minutes after that, Radolno was felled outside the area, and he made no mistake with the free kick, the ball curling above the wall into the near top corner. The chances came thick and fast, and once again Hybredia was left to rue another missed chance, Esh rushing out and pouncing on the ball before the striker could get the vital touch to it before the clock hit 10 minutes. Navdid almost put the finishing touch to a beautiful move in the 14th minute, Ravoldi mesmerising the Hybredia defence before putting in a fancy cross, but Navdid’s header was well held by the Hybredia keeper. 5 minutes later, Hybredia equaliser would come. A free kick from the left was delivered with pace, and a striker headed the ball into the near post with Esh helpless. The Zucchinis failed to created many chances for the next 10 minutes, Ravoldi creating the best chance in the 29th minute, but his curler to the far post was held well by the Hybredia keeper. 3 minutes later, and the keeper was the star yet again, Naldorino’s through pass left Navdid clear, but the keeper rushed out well and blocked Navdid’s effort. Esh was also doing well at the other end, smothering a low cross from the right with strikers lurking behind him. 2 minutes later, and the Zucchinis would have reestablished their lead, Bolger with a vicious left-footed strike to the far post beyond the reach of the keeper. However, their joy would last only 5 minutes, as Hybredia would equalise in the 43rd minute, a square pass finding their striker, and a sweetly placed left footed strike beyond Esh. After the restart, the Zucchinis came out with renewed vigour, Radolno’s left foot curler missing just high and wide. Against the run of play Hybredia equalised soon after, receiving the ball just into the attacking third, without any pressure, the defender curled the ball to the far post, hitting the post before going in, leaving Esh no chance. 6 minutes later, and the Zucchinis were dealt another blow. Faku felled a Hybredian on the right wing and conceded a free kick. The kick was pacy with incredible swerve, and went straight into the top corner beyond a flying Esh. Gigsi almost pulled one back 3 minutes later, but his swerving effort hit the top of the crossbar. 10 minutes later, and Naldorino succeeded, beating the keeper with a blistering shot from just ahead of the centre circle with tremendous pace. Ravoldi almost gave the Zucchinis the equaliser with a speedy run down the centre, but the keeper deflected the shot wide. 4 minutes from time, the Zucchinis had one final chance, a free kick just outside the area. But Ravoldi’s curling effort curled wide of the post to seal the Zucchinis’ first loss in the Cup.

Maserrat tie up Jeruselem

Maserrat help up Jeruselem's attempt to make the next round holding it to 2-2 draw while Lovisa escaped with 5-4 over Audioslavia. The benefit of this result gave Lovisa some benefit as the draw between Maserrat and Jeruselem did not allow any of the teams to lock up a secure position for next round.

On form, Maserrat and Jeruselem should be teams to progress while Lovisa need to beat Maserrat while Audioslavia cannot make the next round even if it wins but can help Lovisa if it does. Given the goal differences, Jeruselem should go through even it loses as it's +3 goal difference is the best for the group.

If Jeruselem win, it will top Group E and while a win for Maserrat would be beneficial for both teams writing off Lovisa's chances.

Crystils Add youth Pair

Crystilakere were forced to call up two players to their Under 21 squad prior to the 3rd and final group stage match due to injury. Crystilakere Under 21 head coach Boubacar Dragov requested of his scouts to send to Total n Utter Insanity the best quality coverage they could find in defense, and also an out and out striker. Dragov's request was met, and the only thing the latest additions to the Crystilakere squad lack is international experience. The two were selected as they train together in Vilita with Inland Peaks FC. Alpha Siboldi is a natural Central Defender, who can also move out to Left Back, or even push up to midfield when necessary. Siboldi is approaching his 17th birthday and will be the youngest member on the Crystilakere roster. Noel Adiguzel just recently moved to Vilita at the request of his childhood friend Siboldi. Siboldi encouraged Inland Peaks to take his friend on trial and the 17 year old Adiguzel has remained in Vilita, although has yet to earn a full time contract with the team.

The Oaker Sharks got beat by Total n Utter Insanity on matchday one. The tournament hosts only let one Oaker player take the field per minute, allowing the Insanity team to score 4 times in the opening 10 minutes with the Sharks shorthanded. Fortunately for the Sharks, the Total n Utter Insanity players were not very accurate, missing the net half a dozen times before the Oaker Goalkeeper even got onto the field. Oaker finally got their 11th player on the field and from then the match was on, Oaker striking back to trail 1-4 at the break. The Sharks were too tired to work in the unfamiliar Insane atmosphere and conceded a late goal to make the final scoreline 1-5

Oaker will have the advantage getting to play the worst team in the group Awakawaka. The difference between Oaker and Crystilakere is +3 Goal Differential for Crystilakere, so if Total n Utter Insanity are surprisingly defeated, the Sharks will have to win by a scoreline at least 3 goals superior to the difference in the other group matchup.

Draw results in cut 'ties'

The Sarzonian Under 21 national team came into the eighth World Cup with great expectations as they have since their run to the finals in World Cup 6. However, after two losses and a draw, the Incorporated Football Federation announced that Coach Terry Mangione would not return to coach in the next World Cup.

"We have had diminishing returns since that trip to the finals," a spokesman for the IFF said. "We thank Terry for all he's done to get our program off the ground, but we have to listen to the results and make a change."

Until this Cup, the Junior Stars advanced to the knockout stages in each Cup it participated in. Much to the chagrin of supporters, the team was knocked out in the second round in each tournament except their trip to the finals. The low point was a loss to heavy underdog Cockbill Street, a result that nearly caused the IFF to pull the trigger on Mangione then. But players including former goalkeeper Horace Sandt and midfielder Valentin Kienzl pleaded with the sport's governing body in Sarzonia to keep the coach.

"I think the federation is making a mistake," Kienzl, the team's captain, said. "Coach Mangione got us to a point where we've been highly ranked in just about every cup we've been in. Now they're firing him? Unbelieveable."

"I respect the decision by the IFF," Mangione said in a statement released by assistant coach Cal Trottier. "I guess they felt it was time for us to part ways and have a fresh voice at the top."

The Junior Stars' problems started with a 5-1 blowout loss to Legalese, a team that faced the senior national team four times in less than a year, including two matches in qualifying for World Cup 18. The Stars 5-2 loss to Legalese is blamed for the team's missing out on the World Cup finals for the third straight tournament. The Stars earned a measure of revenge by beating Legalese in Cup of Harmony twice, including the final.

"We're going to look for a coach who meshes with our philosophy of possession football and calculated attack," the IFF spokesman said. "But we also want a guy who is going to pay attention to defense. Our defense in this last cup was horrible."

Lovisa 3-4 Maserrat

So, it's finally happened. After five attempts, and 20 long, hard, painful years, Maserrat have finally made it through to the knockout stages of the U21 Championships, in what was probably one of the most exciting matches in Maserratian history.

With Niclas Caremorlacipolinous and Kriystos Gorkos to play up front together, the stage was set for an explosive night. Indeed, things seemed to be going to plan when, on 3 minutes, Gorkos slipped a through ball to the feet of Niclas, which he duly struck beyond the keeper to make it 1-0 to Maserrat. Lovisa equalised just eight minutes later, when a back-heel fooled the defence to leave a striker one-on-one with the keeper.

Maserrat retook the lead on 29 minutes, when captain Boronitzin launched the ball upfield, where it rebounded off a Lovisan foot into the back of the net. However, Lovisa equalised again just before half-time, when the Dynamos failed to deal with a long throw-in, and the ball was bundled past the hapless Trefguy. The same thing happened on 56 minutes to give Lovisa the lead for the first time in the match - the first and the last time. It was 3-3 on 72 minutes, when Gorkos got his goal, charging down a stray ball and shooting from a very acute angle into the roof of the net. The win was sealed on 83 minutes, with a penalty from Caremorlacipolinous.

With Jerusalem thrashing Audioslavia 5-1, Maserrat finish second in the group on goal difference alone. It was a pleasure to watch the match today, and more importantly to see the team get the right result. Now Maserrat face current holders Vilita in the second round, in what is bound to be one of the matches of the tournament, and definitely a real money-spinner for the team. Should they progress further, they would probably face Rejistania in another huge game. Whilst it's true that if you want to win you need to beat the best, there are easier routes to the semis. Nevertheless, Maserrat will go into the games with enthusiasm and great team spirit. Anything from now on is a bonus for the team, including a rise in the rankings (if possible).

We are in the office of the head of the Audioslavian Football Association.

Head: (picking up phone) Lana, could you send in Mr. Duderson now please... thankyou

The door opens. A tall, fair-haired man with a ginger goatee walks into the room.

Head: Mr. Duderson, please, sit down.

Duderson: OK man, nice office.

Head: Thankyou, i like dusting.

Duderson: Cool

Head: Mr. Duderson, do you know why you're here?

Duderson: Err, no dude

Head: Please, Call me Richard

Duderson: OK Dude. No, ive no idea why i'm here.

Richard: Hmm... Mr. Duderson, on the 18th of June did you, or did you not, conduct an interview with a television channel

Duderson: yea...

Richard: Regarding the under twenty-one side, and their plight

Duderson: Yeah, our kids aren't alright, y'know

Richard: Mr. Duderson, i'll be frank...

Duderson: I thought you were Richard?

Richard: ... Mr. Duderson, you mentioned something in that interview, in fact you talked about it for a while.

Duderson: er..

Richard: Maggie. You mentioned a 'maggie'

Duderson: ya, you know, it was a joke, y'know it was based on Margaret that SN38an lady who controls everything, you know i thought it'd be funny, y'know, to have our own evil Maggie. I mean come on, no ones gonna really believe that are they? Its not as if she exists dude, heh.. heh heh... heh..... hmm.... sir?

Richard gives Duderson a dead-pan stare

Duderson: No...

Richard: Mr. Duderson i'm not sure how you got this information, it is classified, it is something the the AFA have been investigating along with the government. Mr Duderson, things are getting strange i'm starting to worry, this could be a case for Mulder and Scully

Duderson: Oh... woah....

Richard: Duderson, what are the chances of you making up something on the spot which sounds utterly ridiculous, and yet is actually absoloutely true

Duderson: Well, zero i guess but

Richard: So you understand why youre here?

Duderson: Because.... you think i know? Dude do you think i'm Maggie?

Richard: No, if Maggie was going to take human form i very much doubt she'd want to look like Colin Hendry

Duderson: Tsh, fine

Richard: We don't want to get information from you, we'll just take it for granted that you know about Maggie. We want you to work for us Duderson, we want you to.. join us

Duderson: What?

Richard: Join us.....

Duderson: But... i don't know anything, im innocent, i don't know what...

Richard: Too late Private Duderson, your commanding officers are waiting. We will meet again at 1000 hours tommorow. G'nite.

Junior Vikings advance to second round with 5-4 victory over Hybredia

Larry Brown socred his scond goal of the game at the 89th minute and cheers roared from the sidelines and the crowds. It wasnt because he just set the record for goals scored by one player in the Junior Vikings team history, but when the ball hooked in, it gave Fmjphoenix a 5-4 lead over Hybredia that would hold to send the Junior Vikings into the 2nd round for the second year in a row.

The teams came out firing today, with 27 shots being taken in total. Neither goalkeeper wanted to give up anything, but with the ferocity of the shots being took, a shootout was boud to happen. Forward Adrian Villareal started the scoring for the Junior Vikings at three minutes when he fired a rebound that the Hybredia goalkeeper had blocked out of his reach to put Fmjphoenix up 1-0. 10 minutes later, Bruce Chen put in his first shot of the game to give the Junior Vikings a comfortable 2-0 lead. Hybredia retaliated two minutes later with a shot that Franklin Cabrillo dove to late to get a hold of. At the 38th minute Larry Brown scored his first shot to make it 3-1. IT looked like it would stay that way but Hybredian Forward #2 hooked one over Cabrillo during the first stoppage to make it 3-2.

When the second half started, it was not until the 63rd minute that there was another score, by Hybredia on a penelty kick that made it 3-3. Seven minutes later Bruce Chen came flying downfield, got a good pass from Brown, and hammered a shot that it looked like was going to high, but dropped down just before it would have hit the bar and made it 4-3. Hybredia scored once more, their last shot of the game at the 80th minute. 9 minutes later, right before time stoppage Larry Brown pulled of a great shot that hooked in to put the Junior VIkings up 5-4 and give them a win that sends them to the second round.

Now, the Junior Vikings have the tough task of facing Jeruselem's U21's in the second round. Look for Fmjphoenix to bring it to Jeruselem hard and often to try and advance to the quarter finals for the first time.

Fmjphoenix: 5
(Villareal 3: Chen 13, 70: Brown 38, 89)

Hybredia: 4

Aquiliana Goes Through
Despite losing to powerhouse Lions

The Falcons weren't up to their top game Tuesday, but even if they had been, it's doubtful that they would've been able to hold off Bedistan, who showed their international dominance in a 3-1 win.

Aquiliana will have to regroup quickly, as they have to play Liverpool England in an elimination match. The National team has a history with LE, being placed in the same WC Qualifying group with them in all 3 tournaments they've entered, in which LE has gone 3-1-0, scoring 11 goals to 5 against. Hopefully, the U21 side can do better.

Final Score:
Aquiliana 1
Bedistan 3

Gresko Hires Psychic

It has been rumoured that Gresko is so excited about Maserrat getting through to the second round, he has hired a psychic to tell him what tomorrow's result against Vilita will be. We can go live to the Maserrat FA Headquarters now, as Simojne Yaritov, head of the FA, gives a press conference.

"We can confirm that Slobodan Gresko has hired a psychic, and that the result has been announced. For those of you who would rather wait until tomorrow's official match report, close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears...now!"

"I can reveal that tomorrow's match will end Vilita 2-3 Maserrat."

"Whatever the result is, we hope that this tournament provides another stepping stone into the realms of the footballing elite. We can assure you that we give our highest praises to Mr. Gresko for just getting us this far, and reiterate that any further advance on our part is a bonus."

So there you have it (unless you closed your eyes and put your fingers in your ears, in which case you don't have it). See the full match report tomorrow for further details on the match against Vilita.

OctoOakerPhobic No More!
Starblaydia smash a Magnificent 7 past Oaker, and also score one scrappy goal, too.

Well, what can we say? Starblaydia's Under-21s had a fantastic match against the aptly-named Oaker side, netting eight times, a record for any Starblaydi team on the international stage.

Nick Matranga came up and got the party started with an early free-kick that fizzed past the wall and beyond the keeper. Two minutes later Marco Del Blanco scored the first of a three-goal tally, the first hat-trick in Starblaydi International Football since Nikola 'Laser' Lazerevski blasted three past a mighty Dance 2 Revolution side in what some still regard as Starblaydia's greatest ever victory in the Qualifying Stage of World Cup 15.

In between Del Blanco's Hat-trick, Raphael Delgado and the Dwarven pair of Azanulbizarn and Menegroth all registered on the scoresheet, substitute Hurin Menegroth scoring his first ever goal, also the scrappy one, by the way. Juan Silva De Souza, who's still looking for a nickname, perhaps Oakrinho will suffice, netted the last of Starblaydia's Eight, with the crowd quite bored of cheering 'Ole!' at every Starblaydi pass.

What a scoreline. What a match. Who do we play next? Liverpool England or Region-mates-from-across-the-Nemyan-Strait Aquiliana, in the Quarter-Finals. History tells us that if Starblaydia get past the Quarter-Final stage, we come Third overall.

Let's prove history wrong and come First or Second this time, Oak-ay?

Final Score:
Starblaydia U21s 8 (eight) - 1 Oaker U21s
(Matranga 12, Del Blanco 14 & 34 & 62, Delgado 22, Azanulbizarn 45, Menegroth 59, De Souza 84) - (F Oaker 61)

Seargent: PRY-VAT!

Duderson: Wha... wh... wha?

Seargent: Its 0600 hours, time for exercise!

Duderson: But.. but I... err

Two big army-type men grab Private Duderson and hoist him up. Duderson gets changed into a nearby uniform and stands in front of the Seargent

Seargent: Its exercise time maggot, now LEFT, MARCH!

The head of the AFA, Richard Hughes, is seen behind a wall on the far side and is listening in. He smirks and heads off.

0950 hours

We are in Mr. Hughes' office. Mr. Hughes is sitting at his desk in his suit and tie. The Seargent walks in

Hughes: Seargent Pepper, please, sit down

Seargent: That won't be necessary sir

Hughes: Hmm, ok, well Seargent, i presume you know why youre here

Seargent: Yes sir, you want a progress report on Private Duderson.

Hughes: Yes, how is he coming along?

Seargent: Well sir, you gave me an overweight stoner who's only previous exercise has been walking from his dealer to the newsagent, it will take time.

Hughes: Sarge, we dont have time, i just want you to get him a uniform, shake him up a bit and, most importantly, get him a passport.

Seargent: Sir?

Hughes: You heard me Seargent. You are dismissed

Seargent: With all due respect sir, you are head of a sport association, you don't get to dismiss me, hey why am i even taking orders from you anyway?

Hughes: This is a code 10

Seargent: ... a code 10? No officer is allowed to fire a gun whilst wearing a ginger toupee?

Hughes: What? Oh no, fuck, i mean this is a code 12

Seargent: A code 12? no officer is allowed to fire a pistol whilst in an aquarium?

Hughes: Ah jesus, for fuck sake, a code 11 then

Seargent: Ah, code 11, the football team sucks and the AFA are temporarily in charge of the army.

Hughes: Yes. Now. Dismissed, Seargent.

The Seargent adjusts his hat and leaves. Mr. Hughes calls his secretary to send Private Duderson in. Duderson is tired and wheezing, he is still in his army uniform.

Hughes: Ah, sit down maggot

Duderson: Tsh, i've had.... enough... of that.... today

Hughes: HA! Right! Well, now that you are a Lieutenant in the Audioslavian Armed Forces

Duderson: Wh.. wha? I'm a private.

Hughes: No Lieutenant Duderson you have just been promoted, promoted to the minimum rank needed for sending a soldier on his own to a foreign country

Duderson: Wha? On what grounds? Foreign country? What?!

Hughes: Your promotion was given on grounds that you make nice sandwhiches. And yes. Foreign country. You're working on the Maggie case Lieutenant.... you know what, im gonna make you a Captain, its much easier to spell.

Duderson: Wha? Captain? Maggie? But i told you, i know nothing man...

Hughes: I DONT CARE! YOU SEE?! YOU ARE A SOLDIER, YOU WILL DO SOLDIER THINGS!

Duderson: But...

Hughes: Your plane leaves tommorow morning. 0300 hours. The plane will be going to Utter Stupidy, you will recieve your orders there.

Duderson: Utter Stupidity? Where is that? What?

Hughes: Its in Uhuhland, it borders the country we would like you to pay a working visit to.

Duderson: Uhuhland? That wouldnt be...

Hughes: Uhuh....

Duderson: Oh fuck...

*Druidan President Margaret Smith and his unnamed helper are back in Druida when the Druidan Under-21 football team came up for discussion. Again.*

Unnamed helper: "So sir, who was that manager you got for our team? He wasn't much cop."

President Smith: "Oh, it was that guy I was talking to you about last time."

Unnamed helper: "What, that Robin Sherwood from Halfassedstates?"

President Smith: "No, that guy!"

Unnamed Helper: "Trevor Belmore?"

President Smith: "No, that guy!!!"

Unnamed helper: "I don't know who you mean, now."

President Smith: "I mean, his name was Guy!"

Unnamed helper: "You didn't?"

President Smith: "I got Brazillico legend Guy Santos as Druida Under-21 manager! Now, I know you weren't keen on the idea, but he was so cheap, I couldn't resist!"

Unnamed helper: "Sir, I don't know if you remember, but the reason I wasn't keen is because Guy Santos is dead."

President Smith: "But... he can't be? I paid that fella shedloads to manage that team."

Unnamed helper: "Well, whoever it was, it sure wasn't him."

President Smith: "I paid that agent thousands for him..."

Unnamed helper: "I reckon you've been conned, sir."

President Smith: "So why are the team doing so well if they don't have the one and only Guy Santos in charge?"

Unnamed helper: "Sir, they aren't doing well at all sir. They've got knocked out at the group stage again."

President Smith: "Right, that's it! Santos is sacked!"

Unnamed helper: "Sir, Santos isn't even there."

President Smith: "Uh... Oh, yes, um, whoever is in charge of hte team is sacked."

Unnamed helper: "Sir, no-one is in charge."

President Smith: "So who am I sacking?"

Unnamed helper: "you're not sacking anyone."

President Smith: "Phew, that's a relief! What with elections coming up, we don't want to lose votes by sacking people, do we?"

Unnamed helper: "Er... no, sir."

Captain Duderson is on a small, green, light-aircraft bound for Utter Stupidity, Uhuhland. With him is Field-Marshall Heyg.

Heyg: Captain, as you may or may not have been told, this is a top, top secret mission. You will be briefed on the plane, you will be given a map, and you will be given a train-ticket. As you know we couldnt land you right next to TnUI, but the train journey from Utter Stupidity is a safe one. People generally don't question the Utterly Stupid.

Duderson: Yes sir...

Heyg: Duderson, are you aware of World Cup 11?

Duderson: Er, no, i only really got into football in WC12

Heyg: Of course, like most stoners

Duderson: Dude i was 10 at the time, i wasnt a stoner then

Heyg: Duderson you will address me as 'Sir' or 'Field Marshall' not 'Dude'. Anyway. World Cup 11 is where many top brass think we contracted 'Maggie'.

Duderson: How?

Heyg: World Cup 11 was held in Total 'n Utter Insanity. Thanks to some TnUI laws that had been in place since the dawn of time, Audioslavians are illegal in TnUI except when TnUI is hosting a football tournament. However, this didn't stop the evil TnUFBI from killing many of our players. Granted, many players died from their own stupidity, a couple died from Audioslavian's stupidity, but players like John Harrison, Nandy Yale, Jonny Willow and Steven Maplin were all killed.

Duderson: But Willow played in WC14...

Heyg: Yes, but that was only because of a brief ressurection fad.

Duderson: Oh...

Heyg: Anyway. We believe that somewhere along the line, Maggie was incorporated into one of the Audioslavian's system. We think it came from their detention camp. The surviving members of the Audioslavia team were put into a camp in Total 'n Utter Jackass, but there was never any documented evidence of how they got out.

Duderson: So why aren't i going to TnUJ?

Heyg: Because what we want isnt in TnUJ, its in TnUI, or rather, he is in TnUI.

Duderson: He? I don't understand.

Heyg: You said before you didn't know too much about WC11. Did you know anything about the players?

Duderson: I had heard that many had died, but i couldnt tell you much about anyone else apart from Lee Branson and Paul Ward, they went onto manage the national team didnt they?

Heyg: True. The other players were mainly from the WC10 squad with a few changes, but there were some more players. Players that were drafted in to replace the dead. Because of the NSWC rules, we weren't allowed to get players from back home, but we found a loop-hole. We were only allowed to use World Cup 11-registered players with Audioslavian nationality, so we did just that. We got some Youth World Cup players from other countries who had Audioslavian parentage. From Tanah Burung we got Bambam Pinto, from LE we got Cuthbert Pinto, Hugh Pinto, Pugh Pinto and Dibble Pinto, and from Oddslavo we got Grub Pinto.

Duderson: They're all called 'Pinto'?

Heyg: Yes. According to Bambam Pinto's statement before going into the detention camp, he was the illegitamite child of an Audioslavian man who visited Tanah Burung to watch World Cup 5. For years we didn't know who this 'Pinto' was, except that he was really good at seducing women, as we could tell by the amount of half-Audioslavian, half-Burungian/Lemmitanian/Spaamanian/Kingsfordian/Bedistani/whatever children there were in the world with black hair, blue eyes and the surname 'Pinto'.

Duderson: Right...

Heyg: It was only recently where we discovered information on Pinto. Do you know anything about World Cup 5 Duderson?

Duderson: No, nothing at all

Heyg: No-one does. Like the first three world cups, there is very little surviving information. All that the average Audioslavian knows is the results of the national side in that tournament, and the fact that we didn't qualify. It remains the only world cup where we haven't qualified.

Duderson: Wow, but what has this got to do with this Pinto guy?

Heyg: Pinto worked for the Audioslavian F.A. at that time, hence why he could get into all these countries when they hosted a world cup. He was also quite rich, hence why he could get all these women to sleep with him. He was also very charming, according to the reports of an AFA secretary whom we cannot name because of her ex-husband's law suit against Pinto. This meant he could get all these women to give their children his surname. Pinto's first name was 'Sanders'.

Duderson: OK

Heyg: Basically, we think Sanderson Pinto passed on Maggie to all these kids who played for Audioslavia. We think these kids passed on Maggie to the Audioslavians that they played with.

Duderson: OK, but if thats true why doesn't Maggie mess with the U21 sides from Tanah Burung and wherever the other Pintos were.

Heyg: You know the reason/

Duderson: Because they weren't in Maggie-time

Heyg: Yep. Maggie is most prominent in young footballers at the age of 20. These kids were 19, but they turned 20 in Audioslavia, and thats where hell broke loose.

Duderson: Right. So, what do you want me to do?

Heyg: Sanders Pinto lives in TnUI. Find him, get information out of him.

Duderson: But why me?!! i can't interrogate people! i dont even like people! why me!

Heyg: Because, Duderson... you are expendable...

Fmjphoenix defeats Jerulselem, advance to quarter finals for first time

In a game where neither team refused to lose, it took until time was over for this game to be decided. Both teams took many shots, but neither goalkeeper would cede a goal. After time stopped it was shots by Brown, Chen, and Mitchell that gave Fmjphoenix's Junior Vikings passage to the quarter finals by the score 3-0 AET.

There was a scare for the Junior Vikings during the 5th minute of the second half though, as Defender Miguel Martinez caught a kick in the knee and he went down for five minutes before walking off of the field. He would come back in at the 70th minute and help be a major part in helping the Junior Vikings advance.

Now Fmjphoenix must prepare to face either Cockbill Street or Cacobellum. The team is preparing hard for the game to try and continue on towards the finals.

"I am proud at how well these young men have come together and played as a team." Coach Flan said after the game, "I think there is great potential with these guys. I am glad I will be able to work with most of these guys as the most of these guys are still 18, we will get to play with them for a few more cups."

Young Orange-Blues conceded first goal
The young Orange-Blues surfed on a wave of luck and System Karela through their first matches, winning 6:0 and 1:0. Haki Mede was not able to prolong his perfect record in this match against the vilitan colony and future world cup host Turori. The Eels shocked the Orange-Blues by exploiting a defensive error in the second minute. Unfortunately no one understands the tutori language or is able to read their alphabet, so we have no idea who scored against us. The Orange-Blues did, despite being behind, not use desperate and fierce attacks but rather a semi-defensive tactic with their aims being avoiding the 0:2 and doing the occasional counter-attack. In the 44th minute something strange happened: A whistle was heard very much like the whistle of the referee and many Orange-Blues and Eels thought half time pause started. However Jariakeledema Ky-Inidiviayu saw that the referee did not blow his whistle, ran upfields and shot the ball in the empty net. The referee counted the goal and the Insanican police confiscated the whistle of a drunk fan from Bogans and Boozers.

The second half showed beautiful destructive soccer, not giving the opponent any good chances at all and with as few for the young Orange-Blues. The Turorians shouted something which had the words **** and Karela in it, but the rejistanians cheered. The Hexatux 2.0/Karelatux ran smoothly. Siki Rej seemed to enjoy the football match very much. In his time in Avenging Altos, he only saw live broadcasts of the first abysmali league -- which all were on very foggy days.

Siki rej later told reporters: "The young Orange-Blues are still undefeated, I would never have expected that! This team has lots of talend and is highly motivated, also Hexatux 2.0 works great!" The Hexatux was not available for comment.

The result:

NEWSFLASH:

The Young Zucchinis faced the great challenge of Vilita in their final match in the Under-21 World Cup. They faced elimination if they did not defeat the 2nd seeds, a tall order considering the Jungle Cats won all of their previous games in the group stage. The Zucchinis started off with a bang, Navdid’s scissors kick flying just over the crossbar in the 11th minute. 2 minutes later, Gigsi made a spectacular run down the centre of the pitch in a counterattack, but Soma-Phiri’s touch took the ball wide for a corner. 5 minutes later, the Zucchinis had a free kick in a dangerous position, but Ravoldi’s swerving free kick shaved the outside of the post. The Zucchinis finally got their reward in the 21st minute, Navdid’s lob finding Bolger in the box, and his first touch took the ball away from Soma-Phiri who had dived at Bolger’s feet, leaving an unguarded goal for Bolger to tap in, giving the Zucchinis the lead. The crowd went wild, but so did Vilita, the opening goal springing them to life. Manolis Ipoua’s header found Maurizio Sala in the box, but Esh bravely lunged at Sala’s feet and held on to the ball. But barely 2 minutes later and Vilita were to find their equaliser. Julio Ncube ran at the Zucchini defence, then stopped and wrongfooted Lusiano before springing to life and calmly placing his shot beyond Esh. Inaki Soler gave Vilita the lead 3 minutes later, his audacious chip from outside the area floating over Esh and into the goal. Barely 4 minutes after that, and Vilita would make it 3-1, Riccardo Appolloni’s left foot volley from a rebound bulging the back of the net. Julio Ncube made it 4-1 into the break, Ipoua’s backflick met first time with an unstoppable top corner shot which left Esh flying helplessly through the air. The Vilitans did not let the Zucchinis off after the break, Appolloni with a splendid mazy run down the centre, but his shot was well deflected by Esh. However, even he could not keep Mauro Baraza’s splendid curling free kick out, the shot destined for the top corner of the net. Vilita finally eased off at 5-1, but the Zucchinis were not giving up, Naldorino’s sidefoot well held by Soma-Phiri. The chances were coming thick and fast, Radolno’s curler from outside the area hitting the crossbar. Eventually, the Zucchinis’ pressure paid off, Naldorino’s flying volley flying into the far corner to pull the Zucchinis back to 5-2. Radolno had a chance to bring it to 5-3 in the 68th minute with a free kick in a good position, but the curler was well tipped over by Soma-Phiri. Vilita having been hemmed in their own half during this period of Zucchini possession finally broke through, Sala mesmerising the Zucchini defence in the box before putting his shot straight into Esh’s hands. The game then entered a stalemate, until 8 minutes from time, Radolno unleashed a killer swerving and dipping half volley, but it was just too high and too wide. Barely 4 minutes from time, Sala netted yet another for Vilita, his free kick from long range curling into the corner with tremendous pace leaving Esh for dead. However, only 2 minutes later, Naldorino pulled yet another back with a thunderbolt left footed shot buried into the far corner, Soma-Phiri sprawled across the ground in desperation. Radolno almost pulled another back for the Zucchinis in injury time, Niccoló Mazzeo’s sloppy backpass finding the striker, but once again Soma-Phiri saved well. Head Coach Mr Nebitez, “We were thoroughly outclassed. They’ve got a good team and they proved it today. That said, I must say we fought with grit and determination, and that we did not deserve to lose so badly.”

Win against Wella

The young Orange-Blues defeated the Wellan U21 in the 2nd round. The Lasane was surprisingly offensive in this match, so much, that the expression "Karelatux" for the U21-coach made no sense at all.

The Hexatux 2.0 decided for a 4-4-2 tactic, which is extremely offensive by rejistani U21 standards. The fans were as surprised as Siki Rej apparently was. It was reported that he ordered a reboot of the Hexatux before the match. Wella decided for a similar formation. The match saw many chances for the Orange-Blues, but it was Wella to score first: Pitr Trzblinsky was able to outsmart rejistani defender Hakuti Deli and feint a shot and then score. The Orange-Blues equalized almost immediately: Y Syku blasted the ball past Wellan keeper Sevastijan Czitzmic in the 19th minute. In the 30th minute, wellan defender Grigor Sribtics fouled the Nami~ndian midfielder Tilil Re~n, the referee decided granted a freekick for the young Orange-Blues. Nune Haki converted it directly. Pitr Trzblinsky nearly had another good chance but Sekekehiramemakarixajada Akixisiyira was able to steal the ball from him and start a counter-attack in which Jariakeledema Ky-Inidiviayu was able to put his name on the scorers list. The tactic of the Orange-Blues became more defensive but despite that, Y Syku was able to increase the lead even further in the 69th minute when the Wellan defense made mistakes which would result in public whippings in some parts of Rejistania. In the dying seconds of the match, wellan star player Pitr Trzblinsky realized that the Orange-Blues were careless and scored the 4:2. The Orange-Blues were shocked and fans chanted that they wanted Karelatux back and not this attackloving Hexatux.

The result:
Rejistania 4 (Syku 19th 69th, Haki 30th, Jariakeledema Ky-Inidiviayu 56th)
Wella 2 (Trzblinsky 17th 90+2nd)

U21 SHOCKER

After disposing of Audioslavia 5-1 to top Group E, Jeruselem was favoured to beat Fmjphoenix in the 2nd round. Maserrat scored a thrilling 4-3 win to make the next round and improve it's record in U21 championships.

Squemish readers please turn away if don't want know the result ...

Fmjphoenix beat Jeruselem 3-0 in AET to progress to the quarter finals, making it the third time ONLY Jeruselem have not made the quarter finals. It was shock to the Jeruselem coach who had watched his team beat up Audioslavia 5-1 in the last game. "I don't know what happened. 3 goals conceded in overtime, I have no answers but we'll be back in World Cup XIX and U21 IX to regain lost ground. For now, I don't know what to say but Fmjphoenix deserve their win." he said.

The U21 keeper blamed himself for the failure before breaking down "I failed, I stuffed up. 3 goals in overtime, you don't do things like this. I don't know how to redeem myself. Sure the defense didn't work, but I didn't stop those goals."

OOC

This a weird glitch in the scoring system, 3 goals in AET? I'd prefer to lose 3-0 in normal time.

Young'uns Do What Oldies Couldn't
Defeat LE, 2-1

Finally, a team from Aquiliana was able to defeat one from Liverpool England. Granted it was only the U21 tournament, and LE is ranked 5 spots lower than Aquiliana, but it was the first time, which is always the best.

The Falcons are playing great defense, but they'll have to step it up even more, as their next match is against the powerhouse Rayzors, who put 8 goals past Oaker in their last match. If Aquiliana can win that game, this tournament will have been a success.

Vilita 2-3 Maserrat

Producing possibly THE shock of the second round, Maserrat knocked out third seeds and (now) former U21 Champions Vilita in an utterly thrilling match, a cliche that seems to be linked with almost all of the team's games now. Although this wasn't a seven-goal thriller like the last game against Lovisa, there was still enough excitement and incident to fill a barn, as the hopeful underdogs pulled off a win of magnanimous proportions.

Maserrat had had two previous meetings with Vilita before today's match, both in the WC18 qualifying stages. After a surprise 1-1 draw in Vilita, the Dynamos were on the receiving end of a 3-0 thumping in the return leg, so it was hardly surprising that some fans weren't feeling too optimistic about their chances:

"Let's face it: a goal from our side would be an achievement today, let alone a win! I can't see the team winning today, and I can't possibly see the score being 3-2 - that would just be ridiculous!"

Things seemed to be going according to plan when Vilita scored after 13 minutes, a long pass cutting through the defence to the feet of the Vilita striker, who had no qualms about scoring the opener. Maserrat fans dropped their heads in anticipation of the oncoming slaughter. They were disappointed (in terms of the metaphor, that is) when the Dynamos netted on 32 minutes to level the score. A diagonal run across the field resulted in a shot from 25 yards from Vrazer, which the Vilita keeper should easily have caught. However, a cruel deflection off a defender left the keeper stranded as the ball rolled under him into the net. If that wasn't good enough for Maserrat fans, the ball was in the back of the net again five minutes later, when Vrazer calmly navigated a free-kick into the top-right corner of the net. 2-1, and the Maserrat fans sensed an upset.

After the break, two became three when Niclas Caremorlacipolinous, the star in this side's night sky, beat the keeper on 61 minutes. Vilita got back to only one down on 82 minutes, but couldn't find another goal to send the gam into extra time. As the final whistle blew, Gresko fell to his knees and offered prayers to God, as his team made it into the quarter finals for the first time ever.

Attention then turned to Rejistania vs. Wella, the winner of which would be Maserrat's opponents in the next round. Not surprisingly, the fifth seeds ran out 4-2 victors, and now Maserrat face the Orange-Blues. After dispatching the holders and third seeds, Rejistania should be a piece if cake (a rather big piece, granted), although Gresko warned against complacency.

"We may have won this one, but there's no telling if this was a fluke until after the next game. If we win that, then we must surely consider ourselves possible victors. However, we will go one step at a time - Rejistania are never easy to face, but we will try our hardest to bring more pride to the nation."

Of course, Gresko already knows the result, as he's used his hired psychic to read the future. Once again, close your eyes and stick your fingers in your ears if you don't want to know the result.

"The result will be Maserrat 3-1 Rejistania"

Once again, the full match report will be published tomorrow.

This a weird glitch in the scoring system, 3 goals in AET?

You can score 4 goals in extra time, this is very very VERY very rare. Though an easy goal after you go 2 goals down in extra time is possible after your team gives up.

I'd prefer to lose 3-0 in normal time.

That can be arranged :D

Bloody Hell
Starblaydia knocked out in Quarter-Finals

Being seeded Second for the Under-21 World Championships seems to be somewhat of a Bad Omen for Starblaydia, seeing how they've exited for the Quarter Finals both times the magic #2 has been applied to them pre-tournament. Just like U21WC6, Starblaydia had already won all four of their games, only to lose in the Quarter-Final to the Bedistan Cubs.

Still, in six attempts at the Under-21 crown there have been two 3rd places, two last-eight finishes, one Second Round exit and a solitary Group Stage removal. Not bad for a nation always on the way up in the Senior rankings.

Still, there's always two years time. Given the last records we have, Starblaydia are looking like the best-placed team for the next Championships to be held after World Cup 19. Though Maserrat's progression to the Semi-Finals with a win over Rejistania may remove Starblaydia from the #1 berth.

Fmjphoenix rolls on, defeats Cockbill Street to advance to next round

In another stunning performence, Fmjphoenix's Junior Vikings continued their strong play in defeating Cockbill Street 4-2 to advance to the semi-finals.

"We are playing very good right now. This team has a great chemistry. Everyone plays together well and the team is very focused." Coach Flan said after the match.

Larry Brown continues his strong play on the pitch, producing 2 more goals for Fmjphoenix, and has scored in every match this tournament. The game started off fast and the pace rarely slowed down. Cockbill Street struck first, scoring on the 8th minute when Franklin Cabrillo tripped thinking the Streetian Forward was going to shoot one way when he shot the other. But Larry Brown strikes back at the 13th minute to put the score tied 1-1. Twenty minutes of back and forth came with neither goalkeeper ceeding a goal until Bruce Chen put one past the Cockbill Street goalkeeper at 33 minutes to put the Junior Vikings up 2-1. That score would hold through the first half, but not last long into the second. Cockbill Street opened up at the 47th minute with another goal to make it 2-2. Primarily playing back is Niera Primo, stopping others from coming up, but this time he came up on the attack with Brown and Mitchell. He recieved a pass and hooked one past the Cockbill Street goalkeeper to put the Junior Vikings up 3-2 at the 64th minute. Then in the 87th minute, Larry Brown broke free downfield, took a pass from Viera Primo, and fired one more goal in to put the score at 4-2, where it would remain in the books.

After the game, reporters were hounding Brown, asking him what he plans on doing after the tournament, if he thinks he will be called up the the main team.

"Right now, I don't think they will call me up yet. Even if they do, I am not worried about it because I am only thinking about the thing at hand, winning in the U21WC8." Larry Brown replied. "Thinking about anything else will come at the end of the tournament."

Right now, the Junior Vikings are waiting to see if they will be playing Maserrat or Rejistania. The Junior Vikings would like to play either team, but have revenge against Rejistania, who sent the Junior Vikings home early last tournament. Right now, the team is preparing for whichever team they will face, and are looking forward to having a great match.

The Sevens easily finished off their group with 9 points from 3 games. Some may say the win over Crystilakere was down to bad refereeing. That win set up a clash with The Lowland Clans, famous for...well nothing really. The lope-sided affair ended late into the game with two quick goals going the wrong way for the Clanners. They managed a late goal in injury time, but it was too late to get back into the match. This led to egging threats from the Clue Clucks Clan. Several footballers cars were reported as Free Range Rovers. [God that was awful] TnUI meet, surely the toughest team in Under 21 Football at the current time, Bedistan in the Quarter Finals.

First loss eliminates young Orange-Blues

Several reasons were uttered why the Orange-Blues lost 1:3 to Maserrat. Among the top resons were: "We were not good enough", "the others were scored more goals", "the current devaluation of the lil'kansu" (even though the KaMaRi Update has no idea at all what the currency has to do with it) and "Margaret". The Update will give another explanation: Masserat had the halp of a psychic and thus knew what great tactical concept the Hexatux 2.0 planned. That ment the Maserrati national team was perfectly able to cope with the strategical changes, which Siki Rej or the Hexatux worked out. Sekekehiramemakarixajada Akixisiyira scored the consolation goal in a penalty kick, but the rest of the match was highly dominated by the maserratis. since no roster was specified, we have no idea who exactly scored against us.

------------------- Maurizio Sala opened the scoring for Vilita as they began the prospective run to the defense of their Under 21 crown. It was Sala's second goal of the competition after netting late in the 6-3 group stage victory over Giant Zucchini. Sala, who came up through the ranks at Marine Coast United made a move to Stellar Division Newboys Nusira Lionta in the offseason after the relatively small club made a big push to transform themselves into a competitive squad. Sala, at just 18, was given the captains armband and told that the squad would be built around him.

---------------Sala's day in the sun would not be this day, however, despite his outstanding performance, Masserat fought back and took a 3-1 lead. The Jungle Kitties clawed one back thanks to Riccardo Appolloni, making him the only Vilitan player to score in each match of the eigth Under 21 World Cup Championships, but it was not enough as the Slanites from Maserrat stole through to the Quarter Finals, and dethroning the under-performing Vilitans almost as quickly as they had earned their title.

Maserrat 3-1 Rejistania

After 20 years of hurt, Maserrat fans are starting to think that they have a semi-decent chance of winning the U21 World Cup. After yesterday's defeat of Vilita, the holders, many expected the quarter final clash with the Orange-Blues to be the end of the road for the Dynamos. This wasn't the case, as, in the end, the fifth seeds were beaten with almost an air of ease, the final score being 3-1.

The first blow was struck on 27 minutes, when a Gorkos shot bounced in off the crossbar. A mere twenty seconds later, the score was 2-0, as Boronitzin stole the ball from a Rejistania player's feet, and went it alone for the full fifty yards, tapping the ball home past the now distraught keeper. Just after half time, Rejistania got a consolation goal when Sekekehiramemakarixajada Akixisiyira was brought down in the box. He converted the penalty himself to reduce Maserrat's lead to one goal. However, a goal on 85 minutes from Caremorlacipolinous put the final nail in the coffin, and sent Maserrat through to the semi-finals at the expense of Rejistania. Gresko was more than pleased:

"I said that this game would tell us whether our last result was a fluke, and I think my boys have proved that it wasn't. I fully believe that the lads can take us to the final, and possibly even win us our second piece of international silverware."

Maserrat will face Fmjphoenix in the semi-finals. They disposed of Cockbill Street in their quarter final, which sets us up for one of the matches of the tournament. Both teams have taken a few giants' scalps in the competition, and it will be very interesting to see who takes the next. The two nations have been allies for the brief time they have been in the footballing world. They must put that aside as they go head to head for a place in the final. Aquiliana are also through to the semi-finals of the tournament after gaining victory over Starblaydia, where they will face TnUI, who beat Bedistan.

The IFA received several complaints from the BFA [Bedistan], ASR [Rejistania], CSDS [Cockbill Street] SFA [Starblaydia] and most vocally from VFA [Vilita] about the shoddy refereeing in the Quarter Finals [and Second Round] that had all 4 top teams crash out to underdogs. With Total n Utter Insanity facing Aquiliana and Fmjphoenix duking it out with Maserrat, the "old skool" has well and truly been upstaged. The IFA stated that complicity by the well-established teams had lead to the series of defeats.

"They should stop complaining. They made the Quarters, most teams didn't. Maybe this will cause a few of them to pick up the pace and increase their youth funding."

OMG WEZ BEATED SBADIA!
Hooray for all things good and evil

Aquiliana has become the master of the shocking upset, it seems. After going through to the quarterfinals of the 17th World Cup ranked 69th, they have done it again in the 8th U21 Cup, this time ranked only 14th. And to do it, they had to defeat not only longtime nemesis LE, but regional powerhouse Starblaydia as well.

The team was able to put Starblaydia away with 2 early goals, and when Matis put one in for the Rayzors in the second half, Lupinia was able to quickly match it and seal the victory for Aquiliana.

The Falcons' next match will likely be no less difficult; they'll be facing tournament hosts Total n Utter Insanity. Still, with the way they've been playing, don't count these guys out yet.

Cubs Off to Strong Start in Eighth U21 World Cup

TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY -- Wow. It seems as though it's only been two years since the last U21WC. That's probably because it has, as the IFA has rescheduled the tournament to now take place every two years instead of every four. One thing that hasn't changed, though, is the Cubs' general dominance in the group stage.

As usual, the first match started off a little shakily. This has been a trend since U21WC6, when we lost 4-0 to Jeruselem on opening day. Last time around, it was a 1-0 loss to U21WC newcomers The Lowland Clans. This time, we faced another new team, the one from Sanctaphrax. The Bedistani team was faced with a dilemma: should they beat the crap out of them like they should've been able to, or should they keep that trend of opening losses going, since they ended up reaching the final both times that happened? The Cubs decided to go for the latter, allowing two pretty easy Sanctaphrax goals in the first half. After the break, Carl Tomlinson scored a goal to give the illusion that the Cubs were actually trying to play in this match. They were comfortably down 2-1 in the 84th minute when disaster struck. A Sanctaphrax defender being harassed by the Cubs' midfield backpassed toward the keeper. The keeper, unfortunately, was not paying attention, and the ball rolled harmlessly into the Sanctaphrax net, tying the game at two. Bedistan desperately attempted to give Sanctaphrax another goal before the match could end, but the opposing team seemed content with their draw and did not pursue the issue further. Some renowned Bedistani statisticians and psychics insist that the team's failure to lose its first match will eventually spell doom, though we certainly haven't seen any signs of it yet.

Next up was a grudge match against The Eagle's Nest. As this reporter recalls all too clearly, the Eagle's Nest eliminated Bedistan from World Cup XVIII competition in the second round, humiliating the Lions 4-1. This was the time for the younger players to prove that that match was a fluke and that a Bedistani team could do the same. This match featured the international debut of Darren Morlock, Jr., son of the infamous Darren Morlock, who holds the record for most goals scored by a Bedistani in international competition at forty-eight. The twenty-year-old Morlock proved to be a chip off the old block as he pounded two into the opposing net in the first twenty minutes, giving his Cubs an early 2-0 lead. TEN struck back, with one of their strikers getting in just behind Bedistan goalkeeper Tom Quick to cut the lead in half. The Cubs would get the last word in the first half, though, as Jessica Stevens added one of her own and put all three Bedistani strikers on the scoreboard in the Cup so far. The score was 3-1 at halftime. The Eagles' defense solidified a bit in the second half, and Quick was starting to get peppered with attacks, though most were ineffectual. Once again, it was Morlock to the rescue, as he put the game beyond reach for the Eagle's Nest, securing his hat-trick in the 62nd minute. From there, the Cubs dropped back into the defensive area to rest a bit and maintain their lead. At the final whistle, TEN had gotten a taste of its own medicine, falling to Bedistan by the same score by which they defeated the senior side.

Finally, there was Aquiliana. This was a team to be feared, as the Bedistani Eagle's Cup team had just faced Aquiliana and been held to a 1-1 draw. The Falcons' youth squad proved to be a bit more green, however, as they would not be able to do the same to the Cubs. The first goal came from a penalty kick, taken by midfielder Agustín Ramírez in the 35th minute. Darnia Tilior would produce the obligatory equalizer for Aquiliana on the stroke of halftime. The Cubs decided to put all their offensive strength in the center of the pitch for the second half, and it paid off as Tomlinson and Morlock came up with one each to propel the Cubs to a 3-1 win, and an impressive 2-1-0 record in the group stage.

The Cubs will be playing Legalese in the second round, and most experts are predicting a win. After all, Bedistan's U21 side is widely regarded as the best in the world, meaning they should theoretically be able to beat anyone. Many are warning that the opening loss blessing is not present this time around, though, and it could mean disaster on down the road. We'll just have to wait and see.

Fmjphoenix Junior Vikings defeat Maserrat, continue to finals for first time in team history

Thousands of fans that were in TnUI for the semi-finals match against Maserrat were given much joy for having traveled to see their U21 team play and defeat Maserrat 5-1. With this strong victory over Maserrat, the Junior Vikings are playing with lots of poise, like a team that has been together for many years instead of only one.

The score belittles how competitive the match really was. The Maserrat Captian, Boronitzin, scored the first goal in the match at the 18th minute to put Maserrat up 1-0. It took Fmjphoenix 15 minutes to get one back to tie it up 1-1, thanks to the shot by Jason Mitchell that squeaked by the Maserrat goalkeeper. Then, at the 44th minute, the Junior Vikings went up thanks to Larry Brown. The score would stay 2-1 until 14 minutes into the second half when Bruce Chen recieved a pass from Brown and was one-on-one with the goalkeeper and won. Then in a move that teams have been falling victum to, Larry Brown broke downfield again and was all alone when he got to the goal and put the ball in the back of the net again to make it 4-1 at 74 minutes. One minute before time stoppage of the second half, Jarrod Howell, who came in to give starter Adrian Villareal a break for the last 10 minutes got his chance and added one more to the score to make it 5-1 and helped insure the Junior Vikings first time into the U21WC Finals.

With this victory, Fmjphoenix now awaits the results of Total n Utter Insanity and Aquilana's match to see who they are going to play for the Cup. But whichever team the Junior Vikings play, Coach Flan says his team is excited to play.

"These guys are excited to play in such a match and to be playing at such a high level. We also would like to give respect to Maserrat. They played one hell of a game. We look forward to more matches against them and also wish them luck in the third place match." Coach Flan said after the match with Maserrat.

Still, with the way they've been playing, don't count these guys out yet.

Falcons out for the count

The Sevens proved why everyone* thinks they are the best team in the world at the moment with a stunning victory over Aquiliana.

"Sure we have some critics who think this whole tournament is rigged, but they are just sore losers."

Said team Captain Alan Barney Colin David Eric Frank Gordon Henry Igor John Kevin Larry Mike Niles Oberon Pat Queeg Robert Stu Taylor Uvwxyz the third.

The Sevens had reached their first Final playing nobodies Fmjphoenix. Sure it wouldn't be as sweet as beating Rejistania or Vilita in the final, but a cup is a cup unless its a mug. Now all they needed to do was find a good ref...

Fmjphoenix upset at being called nobodies, nearly prove TnUI wrong

Coach Flan was upset at the coach of the Sevens, calling the Junior Vikings nobodies. He had these remarks;

"I would think that the coach of the hosting team would have a little more respect for the competitors in the tournament and especially for any team that would make it to the finals. Obviously the team isn't nobody because they made it there."

The U21WC8 finals proved to be a thrilling match as Fmjphoenix nearly pulled of an amazing strech, but fell short when goalkeeper Franklin Cabrillo could not hold a 3-2 lead as the Sevens came back in the last 5 minutes to score two goals and take the cup 4-3.

TnUI struck first as their team captian whoose name is longer than the stadium he was playing in scored at the 6th minute to put the sevens up 1-0. But a name that will not be forgotten anytime soon, Larry Brown came right back with a Junior Viking goal 2 minutes later to tie it up. The Junior Vikings attacked the TnUI defenders with much ferosity, but they were unable to make several goals although they held the ball on the TnUI side of the pitch for nearly 15 minutes. Then at the 41st minute, a defender stopped Adrian Villareal, passed downfield to one of their forwards who was all alone against Cabrillo and out-maneuvered him to put TnUI up 2-1. The second half started up slowly, but Bruce Chen got open near the goal and took a shot from the corner that hooked in out of the reach of the Seven's goalkeeper to tie it up 2-2 at the 54th minute. 16 minutes later, Larry Brown beat out two defenders, and had a one-on-one that he easily faked out the goalkeeper to put Fmjphoenix up for the first time 3-2. It wasn't until 15 minutes later at the 85th minute that TnUI struck again, with their team captian tieing the game up. At the 89th minute, Jason Mitchell took a shot that looked like was going in, but the Seven's goalkeeper managed to catch it, got up and kicked it to midfield to one of their midifleders, who passed it upfield to one of their forwards and hooked one in over Cabrillo in time stoppage to put the Sevens up and held it for good.

Despite losing 4-3 to the Sevens, the Junior Vikings feel very good about the match.

"We took it right to them and proved that we are not just some nobodies. We could have had the game, but they got it out in the end. I tip my hat to them, they got it this time. We plan on coming out and getting it next time" Larry Brown said after the match.

Seeing how noone on the team is even 20 yrs old yet, it is expected that the same team will be back next time for U21WC9. There have been speculations that Larry Brown will be risen to the Senior Viking squad, but those rumors were not accurate.

"The plan is to work with these boys for another year and fully prepare some of them for the senior team. A few of these guys probably could go up there and go play with them, but right now I think it is better to keep them together and work more to make sure they understand eveything fully" Coach Flan said to reporters, "I am proud of these guys that they got to the finals in only their second cup. It would have been great if they could have gotten the cup, but there is always next year."

Third Place Satisfactory For Maserrat

It took a long time to get here, but Maserrat have finally proved they have what it takes to be world contenders by finishing third in the Under 21 Championships. Whilst many thought the team deserved a place in the final for beating both the third and the fifth seeds, Gresko seemed content with the bronze medal.

"This time four years ago we were nobodies - we couldn't even make it past the group stage. This year, we have proved a lot of our critics wrong by making it this far. We beat a lot of very good teams to get as far as we did, and I am proud of my boys for this achievement. Not every team has the pleasure of winning a medal, and now Maserrat has two - one gold and one bronze. This is the start of something very good for our nation, and I hope that everybody believes that we are capable of doing some amazing things in the years to come."

The third-place playoff was against Aquiliana, conquerors of Starblaydia, and it was a match for the neutral spectator, as after 120 minutes of play, the scores were level at 2-2, and Maserrat found themselves in their first ever penalty shootout. Goals from Vrazer and Gorkos weren't enough to seal victory just yet, and everybody was psyching themselves up for the tense, roller-coaster ride that is the shootout. Maserrat won the toss and it was up to Niclas Caremorlacipolinous to set the ball rolling. A comfortable shot wrong-footed the keeper and Maserrat were on their way to victory. The next six penalties went in, and Maserrat's contributions from Boronitzin, Vrazer and Gorkos made it 4-3. Aquiliana sent their next penalty skywards, and as sub-goalkeeper Yaruslav Federo stepped up, fans across the lands crossed their fingers, clenched their buttocks and held their breath. In an almost slow-motionic piece of action, Federo blasted the ball past the Aquiliana keeper to make it 5-3 to Maserrat, and secure the bronze medal, their second ever achievement in a major tournament.

Although it has not yet been made official, Maserrat will quite possibly be in the top three seeds in the U21 world for the next championships, making them one of the favourites for the title. However the fast progress of Fmjphoenix is worrying, and it will probably be hard to live up to the expectations. We shall see, in the ninth U21 Championships, on your screens soon.

Vilita Celebrate Major Championship

[/color]http://www.dirt-racing.com/3wide/sites/aofiles/rp/bar.gif

------------------- The Vilitan team from the 7th World Cup Under 21 Championships returned to a party like atmosphere in the Vilitan capitol of Alikki-Corra. Despite the senior squads early exit through Penalty Kicks in the second round of the Word Cup finals, the fans were jubilent and supportive of the first silverware for the gfootballing power since their at-home triumph in the 14th cup of Harmony. This Cup of Harmony Triumph followed the underdog run of recent histroy when the unranked Jungle Kitties, including now-hero Callum Banda, upset teams like Rejistania, Kingsford & Tanah Burung on their way to the finals of the THird Under-21 Championships, losing in that final to Jeruselem.

---------------Many had tipped the Vilitans as favortied for the Third Eagles Cup Crown, however a less than spectacular exit via the form side of the time, Eystrck, opened the door for North Easten Neighbors Turori to steal the spotlight from their former colonial rulers. Vilita now have two major championships, including the Cup of Harmony and Under 21 World Cup Championship, as well as Runner Up finishes in the AOCAF Cup and the Under 21 World Cup Championship.

Turori Youth Academy in Plea

---------------The Turori Football Association and the Turori Youth Academy are having to keep players longer than expected due to a lack of interest from Local Turorian clubs in picking up the options on the players. Local teams like Cednia Beach, Wunokalsa Waridi and FC Almintora have favored taking young Vilitan prospects and foreigners to fill out their youth program, as opposed to utilizing the Academy they themselves have funded. While exciting prospect Martiia Rawaii has already found a home in Legalese, many of the Turorian Under-21 Players have yet to find a home.

---------------The Turori Under-21 Team is run by the Turori Youth Academy, one of the premises to the deal with the Turori Football Association, However only Rawaii has successfully left the academy on graduation to find another club. Maratima Tareak, also an academy Graduate, has been in discussion with other clubs and been on trial in Giant Zucchini, but has yet to pen a finalized deal. The Youth Academy was forced to expand, adding a new dorm to house the 18-19 year old Graduates left without a club in order to keep their skills fresh for the Under-21 tournament that they had already been pinned for.

---------------The Turori Youth Academy does not ask a large fee for foreign nations looking to sign one of their players, with future fees and performance benefits a common negotiation once personal terms are agreed upon.

Rawaii shines in Group Stage

------------Legalese City's Martiia Rawaii played a one-man show in the Turori Eels Under-21 Teams' openeing matches of the 8th World Cup Under-21 Championships. Rawaii netted an impressive Hattrick over the decently talented Tadjikistan to give the Eels the perfect start in their quest for Under-21 glory. Rawaii, the only member of the Eels Under-21 squad to have a professional contract with a recognized club, has been on fire as of late, scoring 3 goals in as many games for his club team in Legalese after his Under-21 break. The Attacking player looked a class above his Under-21 teammates, most of whom still attend the Turori Youth Academy in Almintora, Turori. Defender Maratima Tareak also looked impressive, but it was former Vilitan defender Julio Matengu who saved the game late for the Eels, clearing a Tadjik shot off the line to preserve the advantage.

------------Tareak and Matengu could not prevent the Eels from dropping to the unknown package of Cacobellum, despite a pair of goals from Rawaii, who had now registered all 5 of the Eels Under-21 goals so far. The Eels dropped a 4-2 decision to Cacobellum, and looked to the decisive match against Rejistania for a result that would see them through to the Second Round.

Eels Sent back to the Barn

-----------------The Turori Eels were sent crashing out of the 8th Under 21 World Championships despite an impressive 1-1 draw with the young Orange-Blues of Rejistania. The Orange-Blues had yet to conced a goal and were looking a strong threat for the Under-21 championship. However, Martiia Rawaii broke through to penalize the young Orange-Blues and produce a strong result for the Eels. however, it was not enough to see Turori through to the second round, as Tadjikistan was unable to produce the victory over Cacobellum that the Turori Youth Academy had been hoping for.

-----------------The Eels will be looking to regroup following the dissapointing performance at the 8th World Cup Under 21 Championships, and hope that the added publicity of Hosting the world cup will generate interest in the Turori Youth Academy and allow for better training for the future of the Turori National program.

-----------------The Turori Youth Academy held a press conference praising the performances of Legalese City's Martiia Rawaii, and thanking Legalese for helping to improve the state of play in Turori. The Turori FA also recognized Julio Matengu, who failed to break through to the Vilitan Under-21 side, for switching nationalities after a letter of inquiry from the Turori, and to the Turori Youth Academy for allowing Matengu to train alongside their players and participate in the Under 21 World Championships.

Apprentices' Dream Turned Into Ashes By Phoenix
Defence Undone Once Too Many

The suicidal attack policy of the Young Streeters proved fatal as they bowed out of the U21 championship at the quarter-final stage. Having beaten Cacobellum 6-3 in a rebellious match where three players were sent off - including playmaker Niall McLavish - and that proved too costly for the match against the FMJPhoenix. Having three strikers out already - Canning with a bruised leg, Trobdon and Roberts suspended - the Streeters turned to downright desperate measures as left back Brian Gurshley was shoved up as striker, and 18-year-old Olaf Spearthrower played beside him. It was doomed to failure. Despite al-Axewielder's cross which landed at Gurshley's feet for an improbable 1-0 lead, it was not to last long, as Larry Brown and Bruce Chen made it 1-2 at half-time. A corner kick taken by Haemimorphite landed at Gurshley's head for 2-2, but that was it. Niera Primo and another Larry Brown strike ended the match 2-4, as the Vikings capitalised on their countless counterattacks.

Hunted Criminal Returns To Scene of Crime
Rejistanians Do Just As Badly

Renowned murderer Siki Rej has appeared again - diplomatic immunity has refrained this journalist from attacking him on the street, as he has been standing by the sidelines supervising the Rejistanian effort. Unluckily for him though, the young Orange-Blues crashed in the quarter-finals with a dismal 1-3 effort to Maserrat - slightly worse than the Streetian loss to Fmjphoenix.

Siki Rej has been rumoured to fipple with Hexatux 2.0 - a machine which, apparently, is even better at System Karela and even worse at other systems than Hexatux 1.0. The Cockbill Street Department of Sports have banned all imports of machines suspected to carry the "programming" of Hexatux 2.0, seeing as it could have "poor influences on the development of Streetian football." Given that Hexatux-thought held the Streetians out of the 32 World Cup nations for 16 years, despite the talent clearly being there for all to see, it is fitting that the government have finally taken a clear stance against this outrage.

WANTED: New football coach for Under 21 National Team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience handling strong personalities of teenagers to young (20 and under) adults preferred but not required. At least four years experience coaching football, particularly an attacking style with heavy emphasis on possession helpful.
REQUIREMENTS: Applications must be received in writing not later than one month [OOC: 1 NS month... can be whatever length of time before Under 21 World Cup 9 if anyone decides to take part in this] from today. Applicants must include cover letter, resume, and three references.
SALARY: Commesurate with experience. Full housing shall be provided by the IFF.
CONTACT: Please contact new IFF Chairman Buddy Landry.

The preceding advertisement appeared in football media magazines throughout the world as IFF Chairman Buddy Landry was desperate to name a new head coach following the Junior Stars last place finish in World Cup 8.

"We want to get someone who will get the team back to the level we expect it to be at," Landry said. "Preferrably someone who is going to play a similar style to what we've done in the past."

The coaching search began when the federation dismissed longtime coach Terry Mangione following World Cup 8, when the team failed to advance to the knockout stage for the first time in history. The team is two Cups removed from an appearance in the championship match.

"We need to get this ship righted and fast," spokeswoman Katie Jenssen said. "Right now, we're looking at every option."

The team has conducted interviews with senior national team assistant coach Barry Owens and will interview Under 21 assistant coach Cal Trottier for the job. The IFF is leaning toward possibly naming Trottier interim coach until a permanent coach is found, and they will ask the incoming coach to keep Trottier on for at least World Cup 9.

"We want to have as much continuity as we can with a coaching change," Landry said. "Until this Cup, the Junior Stars were in every knockout stage and we advanced to the finals in World Cup 6. I don't think we need to reinvent the wheel."

Legal Victory for Cubs

TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY -- After an unusually strong showing in the group stage, the Bedistan Cubs went on to face Legalese in the second round. Legalese is a nation rather new to the international football scene, though their talent is improving rapidly, and it showed in this match as they held the Cubs to only one goal. The match really wasn't very eventful, unless you're Rejistanian -- here in Bedistan, overly defensive football is often looked down upon as the "little kid's way out". Nevertheless, there was only one goal in this match, scored by Darren Morlock Jr. in the 62nd minute, but it was enough to secure the victory.

"Well, it wasn't pretty, but we got the job done," said coach Henry Thoreau afterward. "Then again, in the next match against TnUI, that defense is probably gonna be very important -- they have a tendency to throw everything but the kitchen sink at you."

Insanity Incarnate

TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY -- Well, the Cubs were going strong once again in the under-21 championship, when they suddenly hit a major roadblock in the form of host nation Total n Utter Insanity. Despite hosting the tournament, the Insanicians have not previously been known for their youth talent. So either they've been greatly improving over the last two years or so, or there's something fishy going on.

The number of goals scored was no surprise -- TnUI have gained a bit of a tendency to just throw everything forward and pray. What was a surprise was the apparently impotent Bedistani offense. Then again, it wasn't exactly impotent, per se. The fact is, seven goals went into the Insanician net. But that's not worth much when five of them are disallowed. Some of the Cubs players showed visible signs of agitation as the match drew to a close, and the referee (of questionable sanity himself, being from Jeruselem) gave out a total of seven cards to Bedistani players, resulting in two sendings-off. The match ended 2-4 in favor of TnUI.

It is rumored that the Bedistan Football Association is launching an investigation into the referee and other officials present at the match. Whatever the case, the fact remains that the Cubs will not be able to challenge for the title this time.

Somewhere, TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY

Mr. (or Mrs., Ms., or Miss) Guy (or Gal) in Charge:

Having been present at the quarterfinal match of the Eighth Under-21 World Cup between Bedistan and Total n Utter Insanity on 24th March, I would like to make known my suspicions regarding the officiating of said match.

Though all four goals scored by the Insanician team appear to have been perfectly within the rules and spirit of the game, I find fault with the fact that no fewer than five goals scored by the Bedistani team were disallowed by the referee on arguably very shaky grounds. Thrice he cited the offside rule, though thorough analysis of match recordings by our Association indicates that in none of those cases was a player actually in violation. One goal was disallowed due to a foul committed by a Bedistani player en route to the goal; this call was legitimate. However, the fifth disallowance I find completely inexcusable. The referee noted that he had not been paying attention to the proceedings at that time and as a result disallowed the goal on the grounds that a rule violation "may have occurred". I find this statement to be vacuous and just out-and-out absurd.

That said, know that the Bedistan Football Association is officially filing suit with the Insanician Football Association, and particularly with the referee, one Ahab Hussein of Jeruselem, who it is suspected may have been bribed by the IFA to produce a favorable result for the host nation.

Further details shall follow in future correspondence.

Sincerely,
Ezra K. Sanford
