How come we have such and odd time system?

1 RL DAY = 1 YEAR?!

How would that even work?

Within just maybe a week, your leader could be dead. How would this work?

Actually, the time system depends om you and whom you RP with. NS has a fluid time system, so you're not required to follow any particular time conversion. For those nations who run large projects, having 1RL day = 1NS year is an easy way to complete them without having to wait for a long time, while still making sure that they're not completed instantly.

Decisive Action has something like 1RL year = 4NS years. I use fluid time, so that during some RPs only one NS day might pass during an entire RL week, and sometimes I count by RL day = 1NS year, if I'm working on a major project. if i were to order a Doujin or a Super Star Destroyer, I would have to wait several days for its delivery even with the 1RL day = 1NS year system.

Time is fluid on NS, think of it as a book. Sometimes you can have whole pages devoted to a few seconds and sometimes years go by with the turn of a page.

Some nationstates also use nonhuman races, or advanced tech, to keep people alive longer. My former leader is over a hundred years old, has a natural life span of four hundred, and is damn near immortal (although not invulnerable or invincible) with various bits of medical and thaumaturgic tech.
