A challenge met; a concern addressed. (Nation Introduction)

"Zarg III, come out!!"

The crowd of courtiers and petitioners parted as Zarg Mændar stormed through it. Purple people eaters are rare, and very dangerous.

"You cannot hide from me forever! I have challenged you; meet me, or give up your position as leader. You know full well you cannot beat me! I will win your title through combat, or claim it by default..."

He trailed off as a hook-tipped knife blade appeared at his throat.
"First, Mændar, you must deal with me." a garlic-laden voice snarled in his ear.

"Tam Gortäth?" he asked, rather weakly.

"Yes. Does your challenge still stand?"

"No. I know better than to go against you. Why do you support him, Zarg Tam Gortäth?"

"Because I feel he is the best leader we have. There is more to leadership than fighting, you know."

Now, a third voice cut in.
"More to the point, why did you issue the challenge? I'm sure it wasn't simply ambition."
Zarg III himself emerged silently from the bushes, his long fur shifting from dark green to its normal black as he moved.

"I disagree with your foreign policy." the purple Howler Monkey replied. "In this day and age, we cannot afford to remain isolationist. We must make ties with other nations, or we shall surely fall when some greater power decides our lands look useful."

For a moment, silence spread throughout the ancient stone ruins.

"I believe you're right. The time for secrecy is at an end. I did not wish to reveal our presence until we had at least a slight chance of defending ourselves if attacked, and some ability to be useful to an ally; these conditions are now met. Since you clearly have an interest in the subject, I'm putting you in charge of the project. Let him go, Tam."

With the knife gone from his throat, Zarg Mændar bowed to his leader.
"Thank you, Chief. I did not think you would listen to me..."

"That, Mændar, is one of the reasons I support him." Tam Gortäth said quietly.

Zarg III continued, "You are an intelligent monkey, Mændar. I've had an eye on you for a while, considering what position would best suit you. I am sure you shall do well as the Zargite minister of Foreign Relations. Now, go. Tell the world that we wish to speak with them. I have every confidence in your abilities."

To stunned for words, Zarg Mændar bowed again and hurried off to the communication center. As he left the Audience Clearing, a confused babbling broke out as the crowd began discussing this abrupt change in policy. Zarg III sat back, a secretive smile on his face.

Open transmission from the Zargites:
Greetings, leaders of the world!
My name is Zarg Mændar, and I speak to you as a representative of the Zargites. We have long been a secretive people, keeping to ourselves on our jungle-covered island, but we have decided it is time to open our borders to trade and seek relations with other nations. We seek only to co-exist in harmony with the rest of the world. Any wishing to discuss an alliance or treaty with us, please respond.
-Zarg Mændar, Zargite Minister of Foreign Relations,
Loyal servant of Zarg III and the Zargire nation.

OOC: This is a rather unusual nation I decided to start, based on the following website:
(Click here for descriptions of Mændar & Tam Gortäth) (http://thesurrealist.co.uk/monkey.cgi?att=Zarg+M%E6ndar&def=Zarg+Tam+Gort%E4th)
The inhabitants are all assorted "Food-Eating Battle Monkeys", though most of them are in peaceful occupations. All names start with Zarg, by the way. The nation should only be taken semi-seriously; I'll try to keep it realistic within the premise of the nation, but the primary objective is to be entertaining. I don't have time to involve the Zargites in anything major right now, but expect to see them around once in a while...
OOC comments as well as IC replies are welcome.

Eh...hairy primates, hairless primates. What's the difference? Fewer clothes and more poop flinging...otherwise, it's the usual gonads and strife.

Ab-shalom and greetings,

It is the desire of the Sultanate of Vastiva to open and maintain strong diplomatic and economic relations with all nations desirous of such. We therefore offer an exchange of embassies and ambassadors, and a beginning of free trade between our nations.

If this meets with your approval, please communicate by any means.

Go in Peace,

Namaste,
Raahmid Javani
Grand Vizier,
Humble Servant of His Magnificence, the Sultan of Vastiva

Greetings!

We would consider it an honor to exchange embassies and ambassadors with you, and would be delighted to begin trade between our lands. We shall begin construction of a building for your use immediately. What sort of structure would you like for your embassy?
Many thanks for your reply.

Good fortune and peace to you,

-Zarg Mændar, Zargite Minister of Foreign Relations,
Loyal servant of Zarg III and the Zargire nation.

OOC: Sorry about the delayed response. I probably won't be able to post again this week, but I'll be back. Thanks for responding!
