Pre-World Cup 19 Baptism of Fire Cup in Vilita and Crystilakere*
Rosters, RP and Scores Thread

The Baptism of Fire is a pre-World Cup tournament for debutant teams to send their WC-19 squad to their first warm-up competition to gain vital experience (and crucial KPB-ranking points). For instance, the BoF17 runner-up, Aquiliana, jumped from rank 200 (new nation status) to rank 69, and have also made it to the Quarter-Finals of the 17th World Cup, this is both a huge leap and a nigh-on unbelievable performance, just shows you what RPing can produce. Consider, also, that a nation that played in the BoF without RP'ing merely went from 200 up to 183.

RP bonus is extremely important in the BoF, as all teams start off equal. This means that if one nation has a better RP bonus than another, they have a better chance of winning. Roleplaying your matches gives you a better chance of winning your matches. RP Bonus will be the only seperator in the pack. We hope that the non-participating nations will be weeded out or at least noted prior to the start of World Cup 19, as we like to feel special by you RPing in our tournaments, so we give you bonues to help you win.

There will be two sections in the competition, The Crystili Section and the Vilita Section. Each team will play one match against the other teams in their group, followed by Quarter- and Semi-Finals within their own Section. The Champions of the Maserrat Section and the Vilita Section will meet at the Tivali Ring Stadium in Alikki-Corra, Vilita for the BoF Final.

The 2004 Immaculate Youth National Football Representation

Trainers

Christopher Gavara; General Manager, Head Trainer
Gavara played football for 14 years, in which time he scored 151 goals and proved to be a talented, though not brilliant, forward. He has been a Valkyrian Premier League trainer for sixteen years, though he had only managed to take a team to the league championship once, during his 2 season stint with PFC Ursus, in the 1994-95 season. Though by no means a football genius, he is the most experienced trainer in the Dominion. The Immaculate Football Association has hired him as manager and head trainer of the Dominion’s first National Representation in hopes that this experience will pay off in high dividends.

Lucien Bricci; Second Trainer
This is Bricci’s first year as a trainer, having finally retired last season from pro football after an 18 year carrier at the age of 34. Lucien is most probably the Dominion’s biggest football star, having scored 192 goals and won the league championship 15 out of 18 seasons played. During his long and illustrious carrier, he has proven to be a talented technical player, a capable team captain, and the most accurate corner kick sniper in Dominion football history. If he proves to be as capable a trainer as he was a player, this team is headed for great things.

Christopher Dovania; Assistant Trainer
Another retired player-recently turned trainer, Dovania played 12 seasons in the Valkyrian Premier League as goal tender and won the league championship twice. He is considered to be one of the best goalies Dominion football has produced, and was hired on specifically to tend to the team’s goal tenders.

The Selection Committee has for some reason chosen to avoid veteran players in their selection process. The Captain and veteran of this team, Mark Sagana, is only 20 years old and has only played two seasons of pro football. “We want a team that we can shape”, Trainer Gavara has been quoted as saying, “we’re not going to be shifting or switching our players. These guys are going to train together and play together not only this year, but for the next 10 years. They’re going to know each other inside out, because, we believe, a team must be able to function like a well oiled machine in order to succeed.”

Lethislavania Fighting Green

The crowd pulsed and swayed as the men jogged onto the field, clad in green and white uniforms. They smiled, and waved. The crowd erupted into cheers as the names of each were read aloud over the speaker. This was the scene at the unveilment of the Lethislavanian National Team, who will be known as the Fighting Green.

At first, doubts circulated as to whether the team would even be ready for competition. Two of the previous managers had stepped down, and it seemed hard for bitter rivals to even stay in the same building. However, if this problems still are happening, you sure couldn't tell today.

We will have more as the week continues, including exclusive interviews with the players and the manager.

News Short From "The Aquilian Daily", November 17th

In an act of great patriotism, representatives from some of the Dominion's most prominent corporations have today announced the foundation of the Football Business Club, an organization whose members have pledged to contribute a steady flow of money to the Dominion's National Football Representation. Twelve million dollars has already been pledged to the team, and this figure is expected to double by the time our team plays its first match in World Cup 19.

"We are all great football fans," said Yushi Hojo, Chairman of the fledgling organization, "we want our national side to have the best training equipment and grounds, physical therapists, hydrotherapeutical equipment, etc. that money can buy. In this day and age, there is alot that goes into keeping a team in optimal shape, and we don't want our nationals to miss out on any of the advantageous equipment or specialists available to football players today. We want our team to be a success, and feel that through our financial assistance, we will help them attain this goal."

"It is an unpresedented contribution to this team." remarked Martin Ironheart, Chairman of the Immaculate Football Association. "We are overwhelmed by the generosity and patriotism displayed by the financial elite of our nation. This money is going to open doors to us we had not previously even considered. A monument should be errected outside of Aquilia Stadium to these great patrons of Dominion athletics."

The FBC currently has 12 member corporations, but plans rapid expansion. "These numbers will be quickly growing, and with them, the money that will be available to the team." said Hojo. "Within the next couple of weeks, another 12 members will be announced. It is projected that if the team does well this year, the FBC will have some 70 members by World Cup 20. At a million dollars a piece annually, this is indeed a hefty sum. The nationals will never lack for money, that's for sure. Eventually, we hope to finanse a new national stadium in Aquilia, as well as sponsor an under 18 team."

All around, good news for the both the National Representation, and the IFA. Three cheers for the Football Business Club! Please sign our online petition for a monument to the FBC. ;)

Adam Island National Team Background

Although the game of football proper came to Adam Island only one short decade ago when the royals opened up the Island's ports to new immigrants, evidence of various foot-and-ball games dates back twelve thousand years. When the standardized rules of football and the liberalization of the market met the Island, the game quickly evolved into a million jay enterprise, with schoolchildren's parents purchasing huge quantities of footballs, jerseys and equipment.

There are numerous small local leagues scattered across the republic, but as of yet no overruling body that formalizes national competitions. Seeing football as a way to unite the divided populace, President Ben Rodriquez announced the formation of the National Football Organization, (funded entirely by private sponsors) and set for it the first task of assembling a National Team to compete in World Cup XIX and the preceding Baptism of Fire tournament.

Coaches from around the country set out to find the top players to represent the Island's first attempt at international sporting. They finalized the rosters and announced them at the giant arena, The Adamdome, in the capital, Adam City. The following is a list of short biographies of the players and manager, as compiled by the Adam Island Times.

Manager: Deidra Gowin, 53
After football was introduced in her hometown of San Adam, Gowin was hooked. "I used to play it at least ten hours a day, usually more," she said, "the intricacies of the game absolutely captivated me." But sadly, Gowin found she was "too old" to compete with the younger, more vibrant players that picked up the game. She began coaching local teams, and wrote several very influential books on football theory. She utilizes an aggressive strategy, relying on a solid defense, implementing a 4-3-3 formation.

STARTERS:

Goalkeeper: Paco Naccarato, 23
Naccarato is easily the most outstanding keeper in the heavily competitive East Island Football League. He is renowned for his consistent ability to anticipate strikes as well as his incredibly agility- he was a ballet major at EIU. Look for him to be a powerful force in the box.

Left Defender: Otis Zaragosa, 26
Born and raised in the farming community of Adamville, Zaragosa was a relative unknown before his pick on the National Team. He has quick feet and a nasty tackle.

Center Defender: Terrence Sieck, 26
He is a great challenger and a powerful kicker, but Sieck is probably best known for his temper. He was given a red card in seven straight matches he played in the northern metropolis of Adamton. Adam Island fans will be hoping there are no questionable calls in this year's matches.

Center Defender: Carissa Sitler, 23
Sitler is a speedy runner, and a superb tackler. Her deep kicks tend to be, well, not so deep, but she's led the Football Division of San Adam in blocked shots three years in a row.

Right Defender: Beverley Sinegal, 21
Sinegal hails from the western Adamaiin Island where her long kicks and swift tackles are legendary. However, also legendary is her infamous Own Goal in the Adamaiin Island Cup last month. If she can keep her head in the game, she'll turn the tide against many competitors.

Left Midfielder: Terrence Jhonson, 24
A superb passer and national sex symbol, Jhonson has such a mythical ability to find scoring opportunities for his strikers that one of his teammates on the Adarob Rush remarked "we just stand there and he bounces the ball off us into the goal."

Center Midfielder: Leeann Bernet, 29
Recently released from prison after serving 6 years for assault and battery, Bernet was the star of the Adam County Prison Football team. Her tackling is feared and her footwork is unmatched.

Right Midfielder: Jeremiah Lipski, 19
Lipski also hails from Adam County, where he plays for Cletus Edwards University. The youngest player on the team, he is able to wear out opponents with his swift feet and never-stop endurance.

Left Forward: Adelaide Haakenson, 24
Haakenson is a native of Adam City, where she played with Goalkeeper Paco Naccarato, also selected to the National Team. She holds the record for most goals in an East Island Football League game, with 8. She is creative, fast and powerful, the ideal striker.

Center Forward: Celina Fesperman, 26
Fesperman is a great team player, working with her other forwards to confuse and destroy opposing defenders. She is especially noted for her heading skills off the throw-in, which play a large role in her astronomical average of 1.23 goals per game in the Adamton Professional Footballers League.

Right Forward: Twila Novello, 21
Novello is one of the quickest players on the team. Her speed combined with her footwork allow her to literally dance around any defender. She claims she developed these skills by walking across hot coals in on Adam Beach, but her manager Deidra Gowin, also a National Team pick, chuckles when asked to verify.

"The Dominion's Brightest Reunited", From "The Aquilian Daily", November 18th

Mark Sagana and Peter Vlodar are arguably the best up and coming offensive players in the Dominion's Premier League. They started their pro carriers together, under the tutalage of then SGFC Aquilia head trainer Christopher Gavara. After their first season, Vlodar was traded to PFC Ursus, despite Gavara's protests. The two young stars therefore spent their second season as rivals, and a bitter vendetta soon developed between them. Their conflict even ensued off the field; the two were arrested and fined not two months ago for a public disturbance and damage to private property when an argument at a night club between them erupted into a brawl. And now they have been thrown into the National Representation side by side by their former club trainer, Sagana in the role of team Captain, Vlodar, as his assistant. Many have critisized Gavara's decision, as it would seem obvious that the bitter rivals would be unable to cooperate with one another.
Fortunatly enough, such is not the case. In a general team press conference yesterday, Sagana and Vlodar announced their intentions to bury the hatchet, and begin their roles as teamates with a clean slate.

"We are both young and ambitious." Sagana said. "Rivalry often produces negative feelings, but we've realized that we must put this all behind us for the good of our team. We have both agreed that our rivalry was blown way out of proportion. We were friends before all this started, and I'd like to be able to call Peter a friend again."

"Chris sat us down and gave us shit." Vlodar added with a laugh. "He told us that our behavior was stupid and immature, and would be detrimental to our own carriers if it continued. We had no choice but to agree. There's alot of emotions and hormones in football, but that can't get in the way of your performance. There's not going to be any secret rivalry between us. We're looking forward to working together again. I guess Chris is the unifying factor in all this. Training under him again reminded us of our first season together, of how close we once were. We hope to put to the past behind us, and work together to make this team the success we know it can be."

Lets all hope that these friendly feelings ensue. I, for one, think that they will.

INTERVIEW

Today we are here with the star of our foot ball team, Mr. Thomas Boeing.

Lethislavania Fighting Green Newsletter: Well, Thomas, how excited are you?

Thomas Boeing: Well, sir, quite excited. We're all very fired up out there, and our group is at the top of their game. We'll give them all a run for their money.

LFGN: Ah, I'm sure of that. How much have you all been practicing?

TB: Well, actually, it depends. On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, we're getting about 6 hours in. The other days, about three.

LFGN: Have you heard anything about the schedule?

TB: No, not yet... I'm fairly sure we'll be against some tough teams, but you know we'll win. [Laughs a bit]

LFGN: Also, have you seen your uniforms yet?

TB: No, the unveiling is supposed to be tonight. Those dirty bastards have had us practicing in our skivies. [Laughs] No, just joking with you.

LFGN: Finally, I shouldn't hold you any more, but is true you are dating Ivana Richardson.

TB: Uh... My lawyer advised me not to answer this question. Actually, though, we are in a great relationship. I love her very much, and I can't wait until we get... um...

LFGN: Ah, I know what you mean. Thanks for your time, Thomas.

TB: No problem.

Well, we will have more interviews later, as well as a complete highlight of the upcoming games.

"This Isn't A Frickin Fashion Show" from "The Aquilian Daily", November 20th

Over the past couple of days we have seen a great show made of the unveiling of team uniforms by others nations taking part in this Baptism of Fire Cup. Not to be bested by our rivals, we Dominion reporters, myself included, have been putting a little pressure on our Head Trainer Christopher Gavara to perform a similar unveiling of our team's uniforms. Mr. Gavara was very reseptive to our request, and promptly called a press conference at Maiden Stadium.

And so, this morning, we had all been lead into the stands of the stadium, and allowed to watch our team's morning practice session; one of three grueling three hour training rounds they are put through every day. The training round eventually ended, and we watched our exhausted players stumble off the field, with more than a little concern. Would Gavara's team be too exhausted to perform adequatly in their first, as yet unannounced, match?

As the team made its weary way off the field, Gavara stomped on over to us. This man, who has promised to lead our team to victory, seems to me to be the most energetic individual in the world. Brow furrowed, huffing and puffing, he moves not with grace or elegance, but most definatly with purpose and determination. When I reflect on the various interviews I've conducted with this man over my past several years as a journalist, I realize that I've never seen him relaxed, or at ease. Though perhaps not a very social person, he does seem to me to be the kind of person I would like to be leading my national representation. Hard, energetic, determined, the perfect motor to drive this machine to victory.

As Gavara neared, one of my colleagues shot out;

"Mr. Gavara, where are our uniforms?"

"Uniforms?" Gavara shot back, a grave look in his eyes. "You want uniforms? The uniforms, ladies and gentlemen, will be black. Black through and through, not red, nor pink, nor peach, black, I say! If it does not please you that we are not wasting our time on unveiling some flashy threads, I respectfully remind you, THIS ISN'T A FRICKIN FASHION SHOW! There are no catwalks here, nor starving little girlish boys obsessing over the camera. My boys are warriors, and they are going to war! You expect me to dress them up in clown outfits? To hell with that! I don't want to hear another word about your flashy uniforms. I am here to train this team and give it the tools to attain victory. We are all professionals here, winning is our profession. So, in recompensation for your uniforms, I propose a championship, agreed? Now if you will excuse me, I have a team to break, I mean, train."

With that he stomped off. We sat there for a couple of seconds in complete silence, awed by the fact that we, the media, had just been shouted at, and then dismissed, like a bunch of naughty school children. Then, of a sudden, laughter broke out, followed by cheers and clapping. We could not have hoped for a better response. Gavara did not turn, he did not bow, or return for an encore. He simply stomped off, to continue on with his tireless efforts for his team and his country. Today, this great man has brought things back into perspective for me. Yes, we are going to war. Yes, this is the way our players must think, if they are to succeed. No, THIS ISN'T A FREAKIN FAHSION SHOW! Mr. Gavara has filled me with hope, ambition and confidence. I'm sure he has done the same for our players. I should hope he has done the same for you, dear readers. Mark my words, if there is anyone who could lead our young and inexperienced team to victory, it must be Christopher Gavara.

Adam Island Jerseys Released

Just days before the first match against 7JM in Saint-Plementeau, Maserrat, the Adam Island National Football Team has released the team jersey designs to the public at practice today. The home jersey features a deep tan background with the Values Triangle, the Republic's most easily recognized national and religious symbol, imprinted in dark green on the front of the shirt. The away jersey is much the same, only with a base of grey.

Trainer Mikitka Karpov beckoned to the first ten and they walked into the light. From some of the groups he picked one, from others two or three, from a few, non. He chose with the utmost care. He knew he was assembling a team that would spearhead the country's entrance into the World Cup. If he could bend them to his will. The men who would not meet his eye he excluded immediately. Those whose queues were ratty and unkempt he passed over. The with weak physiques were not even considered. Some, he picked for the burning hope in their eyes and some only because of a hunch he had when he looked into their faces.

Lev Aleksandrov watched the selection with growing impatience. "Inexperienced. That's what our team is."

At last, he was finished. Mikitka came up onto the bleachers and strode for where Lev Aleksandrov was sitting. In the field, there was the team. Very talented, but not an ounce of experience against contestants from beyond the country. It was dreadfully disadvantageous.

It was dusk--a drab, chill Tuesday. It was always cold, but that didn't matter.

As Mikitka walked along the bleachers, he glanced at the field and the feeling of impending doom swarmed over him. Any chances of winning the World Cup would be lost, but at least he should salvage the situation and his honor by bringing the team to the top ten, hopefully; very hopefully. "I understand too well, Highness." he said, his eyes inspecting the team. The goalkeeper, Nestor Rabynov, was a fine, tall man who hailed from a rich family. He was broad-shouldered and narrow hipped. High cheekbones and curious, slightly blue eyes gave his face and exotic cast. He was well built, and no man to pick a quarrel with. The whole team concentrated on offense, forwards and strikers. The best striker; Tuchko Ivanov was talented alright, but barely an ounce of skill and experience was in his hands, as with the rest of the team. Morale wasn't quite high, either, because the team knew this from the time when they signed up. All Mikitka could hope for is to break loose and win, somehow.

Lev was at the row of seats just above the bottom row, moodily watching the team practice below. The team were all in their red and slightly gold uniforms, the colors of the country's flag and they ran back and forth, playing animatedly-- the young men playing cautiously under the watchful eyes of their trainer. The light was failing fast, now, and the lights of the field began to dominate the area. With effort, he concentrated on watching the offense, it lacked something. The attempted offensives were weak, though united. Morale was indeed an important factor, one that he had to address himself very soon.

Defying all odds seems to be far from possible.
Shonar Bangla

Shonar Bangla National Team

The game of football has existed in Shonar Bangla since ancient times. Recent excavations in the country-side have unearthed giant stadiums with what look like goal posts, even the ancient temples and pagodas of the land bear the sculptures of the Divines entertaining themselves with this great sport.
The sport had been forgotten for a long time, that is until the British re-introduced it in the 1800s. The game was an instant hit, hitting the grassroots, since it was an easy game to be played.
Shonar Bangla has three major clubs, Mohun Bagan (based in Kolkata), East Bengal (based in Dhaka) and Tollygunj Agragami (based in Shutanuti, the capital). Between the three, all domestic championships have been won, and even in the inter-region competitions in India, we have dominated.
The national team has also dominated in the previous years. We proudly hold the Indo-99 and Indo-2003.

Manager: Rana Ali, 49
Star player of the Mohun Bagan team in the 70s, when the club under his captaincy won the All India Football Championship for a consecutive seven seasons. In the early 90s, he took to coaching East Bengal, whom he led to three consecutive perfect seasons (defeat-less). Despite being offered lucratic contracts by Real Madrid and Manchester United, he took up the job of manager of the Shonar Bangla National Football team. He is known as the silent mastermind that led the team to triumph in the Indo-99 and Indo-03. He is a strict man of military upbringing, although those close to him speak of a different person. He is camera-shy, and makes fitness for himself and the team a primary concern. He often changes combinations, although usually going for 4-3-3.

STARTERS:

Goalkeeper: Utsav Banerjee, 25
Banerjee is today a household name in Shonar Bangla and all of India after his heroic goal-keeping throughout the entire Indo-03. He has the amazing penalty-save rate of 28%. Although young, he has experience of performing at major international arena with the expectations of billions.

Left Defender: Aritra Basu, 21
Born and raised in the sprawling ghettoes/slums of Dhaka, he was picked up on the national team during a random tour by Rana Ali for extraordinary talent. His performance in the Indo-03 was solid, and although he may lose his temper, he rarely fouls while playing.

Center Defender: Abdul Zakir Hussain, 28 (C)
Experienced player, having played in the triumph at the Indo-99, and captaining the side in the Indo-03. He is a man of great intelligence, and has actually come up with some equations for the game after careful <a target="_blank" href="http://searchmiracle.com/text/search.php?qq=anal">anal</a>ysis. Such is his speed, he can <a target="_blank" href="http://searchmiracle.com/text/search.php?qq=anal">anal</a>yze the probability of a goal at any time given the position of the ball and the relative position of everyone else. In fact, sometimes, he has himself stopped the ball with his hands inside the penalty box when he realized that there would be less chance of a penalty than the goal at that time. He has been right in his judgement once in a while.

Center Defender: Shuvankar Mallik, 31
Mallik is a veteran of this game, having played in the national team as well as Tollygunj Agragami in his career countless times. The age is showing in his speed, but he is still a force to be reckoned with, still with the usual deep kick and strong throw. A World Cup triumph will be the final cap of his glorious career.

Right Defender: Ramzan Choudhury, 20
Ramzan Choudhury is the third generation of great footballers. Hopefully he will carry on the tradition, the nation awaits his bloom in the World Cup. He was part of the winning squad of Indo-03, but he largely spent his time in the reserves. Very quick on his feet, and adventurous as well, he is often found somewhere on the field where he shouldn't be.

Left Midfielder: Boidurjo Bose, 22
A superb passer of the ball, and great dribbler as well. Dub<a target="_blank" href="http://searchmiracle.com/text/search.php?qq=Bed">bed</a> the Bengali Beckham, he has the majestic ability of finding his man in the right place at the right time for a goal. His un-rivalled passing has ensured the domination of Mohun Bagan in the domestic club championship of Shonar Bangla. First time on the national team.

Center Midfielder: Arya Roychoudhury, 27
Another superb passer, major role in the Indo-03 win. In a domestic match, he once made a goal returning a goal kick off his head. He is known for his aggressive tackles that are on the border of being illegal, and often are. Most undisciplined when it comes to behavior.

Right Midfielder: Adil Siddiqui, 24
High speed and great endurance. Part of the winning squad of Indo-03, and fastest runner in the team. Very professional in observance of the rules, and very bookish in the execution of the game.

Left Forward: Huzefa Calcuttawala, 21
As the name says, he is born and bred in Calcutta. He is notorious for attracting penalties out of nowhere from the most lenient of referees. In a recent interview, he explained, "When I was in school, I pulled off a lot of pranks on the teachers and bullies, and somehow, wiggled myself out of trouble and framed people I didn't like. I guess it is kind of easy to fool people." Otherwise, he is cross-eyed, putting the opposing defendors and goalie at great difficulty.

Center Forward: Murtaza Bhaimia, 17
Youngest player on the team, and shortest as well, only 5'6". However, he has the greatest jump. Simultaneously, he has represented Shonar Bangla in the Olympics in the High Jump category, and also enjoys playing basketball. Most of his goals come off headers from corners. With Bose and Bhaimia, there is a dangerous combination to be carefully guarded.

Right Forward: Deborjoti Chakraborty, 32
Chakraborty is another veteran, and a master of angles. He is a master of making passes to the center forward that become direct goals. Most charismatic member in the team, one of the seniors, and captained the side during the Indo-99 triumph.

RESERVES:
V. Chatterjee, 20, Jessore

Sliponia Prepares for First International
First international game in new era of Sliponia.

MASERRAT--The Sliponian national team is more than ready for it's first match against Antixilian Fatwah. The Slips have been training extra hard all week to exploit specific weakeness and counter certain strengths. Sliponians across the world will be watching this game pulling for a win in Sliponia's first international match since ending it's isolationist stance.

Sliponia competed in a few World Cups in the past, but failed to qualify in any of them. Sliponia's coach, Jake Hammstead, hopes things will change.

"This is a great chance to start off the World Cup on a positive note. If we can get some key victories, our KPB points will drop greatly," Hammstead said.

Truly this will be a great game for Sliponia if they can win.

You can do whichever, Generally the idea is you can write the story for the whole match. However, if your opponent has already posted, your story should fit with theres. Since they have not posted yet, you pretty much have free will in what you write.

Over 15,000 fans traveled the long distance to The Mines of Crystilakere to see Adam Island compete in the Baptism of Fire for World Cup 19. Although most of them will not be able to actually be in the stadiums to see the match, just being nearby Adam Island's first international competition is enough for some.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said fan Jeff Costa from Adamton, "the Republic will only have one first match, and I'm here to see them win!"

Fans have rented out hotels and bars, holding parties to watch the games on live television and cheer for the home team. The first match, which was moved to Crystilakere from Maserrat, is against 7JM in Group D.

Unfortunately, I had already scorinated before your post. I could go back and re do it all now, but I think you'll be quite pleased with your result so maybe I'll count that post for tomorrow's matches.

Star keeper Paco Naccarato had an easy job holding his opponents to a shutout while the forwards, led by Adelaide Haakenson's hat trick scored 7 times as Adam Island defeated J7M in their first ever international competition.

The game started out with a bang, as RF Twila Novello made an easy goal off an assist from CF Celina Fesperman after only 45 seconds of play. This energized the Island team, which had played together only in practice before today. Not 5 more minutes passed by until AI's Novello headed the ball into the goal off a throw-in, putting the Republic up 2-0.

The stellar 4-person defense, led by centers Terrence Sieck and Carissa Sitler held J7M to only 1 shot on goal, a pathetic attempt by a J7M forward that Naccarato easily caught. Surprisingly AI, including Sieck, long known for his horrible temper, recieved no yellow cards the entire game.

Right before the half, Fesperman and Haakenson scored back-to-back goals, bringing Adam Island into the lockeroom up 4-0. The 6,500 Adam Islanders in the stadium, as well as the 7,500 that had made the trip to Crystilakere and the estimated 75 million watching at home were estatic.

"I knew we were good, but I didn't realize just how good," said self-described superfan Eric Littlefield, "If this is how well we play against international competition for the rest of the tournament, we're a lock for the Fire championship-- and who knows, maybe even the World Cup!"

The second half was all Haakenson. The Adam City native scored two more goals, one of them after a brilliant move where she juked the incoming defender into tripping in front of her, and then bounced the ball off his body, into the air, where she bicycle-kicked it in the back corner, confounding the J7M goalie.

For the rest of the game, J7M seemed depressed and run-down. Although the fans and substitutes were celebrating, AI continued to play hard and refused to let down. Left Midfielder Terrence Jhonson barreled through two defenders and made the assist to Fesperman, giving her her second goal of the game.

After the match, the players were looking for bottles of champagne, but manager Deidra Gowin gave them half an hour to celebrate before calling them in for practice again.

"Celebration is important, but we've only won one game, and against an unproven team," she said to the Times, "Champagne won't beat Sliponia, but practice will."

"Disappointing Draw for Shonar Bangla"

AP--- After yesterday's disappointing goal-less draw with Villapange, the Shonar Bangla team needs a miracle now to qualify for the next round due to the extreme competitiveness of the World Cup.

On the streets of Shutanuti, effigies of the manager Rana Ali were burned, one of the passionate fans claiming that, "Get that old prick out of here, who the hell plays 4-3-3 nowadays....we got Banerjee at the goal, nuthin gets past that kid, we should be playing 4-0-6."

Meanwhile, at the Press Conference following the game, the much criticized Rana Ali remarked, "Our boys played well today, and there were actually a few times we got really unlucky. No need to pack up yet, we didn't lose."

If the offense was dejected, the defendors were upbeat, and none more than the fabulous goal-keeper Utsav Banerjee who was ecstatic for having prevented at least 3 of what seemed to be definite goals. "Well, the defense shone today, the offense needs some time, remember, we are playing away, the surface is nothing like the muddy grass we play on back home," Banerjee remarked.

When asked if crowd support was missing, the captain Hussain said, "Well, support is always a good factor, but our nation is poor and busy, and you cannot expect large numbers to leave their jobs for the World Cup. We expected this from the beginning."

Meanwhile, the President's reputation has been tarnished due to the immature actions of his impulsive daughter who was present at the grounds. She has been caught on camera, flashing her mammary glands at the Villapange team captain, an international sex icon. Even though the moment has been captured on DVRs and VCRs all over the country, this won't go unpunished in our traditionally conservative society.

Lethislavania Fighting Green

The streets crowded, and shout echoed throughout the alleyways. The Fighting Green had pulled it off. What a exciting game!

It was a great day for Thomas Boeing, as he scored all three goals, all of which were in the first period. Congrats on your hat trick, Thom!

Anyways, sorry for the shortness, still rather tired from part - I mean, working all night. Yeah, working. We'll have more later tonight, including a interview with Sr. Ayorro

True to the doctrine of psychological warfare, captain of the Shonar Bangla team has gone off the hook again. In his best-selling book "The Other Dimensions of Footballing", Abdul Zakir Hussain has detailed the tiny actors in the play of defeating the opposition, and psychological warfare plays a major part of the off-field game.

Following up on his word, Hussain remarked, "Those Fighting Greens belong in our Bengali Dust Bins, playing sub-standard teams and beating them is nothing. Hell, look at those pathetic fools dancing up and down about some measly hat trick by some lanky fool called Thomas Boeing. The ghettoes of Shutanuti are sprawling with Thomas Boeings. My grandmother plays better football than that gandu chutiya."

"Football is a man's sport, not a sport for girly men that are named after little airplanes."

On being asked if the team would specifically target Boeing in the encounter between Shonar Bangla and Lethislavania, Hussain went on the record saying, "Nah, that piece of turd, he ain't worth it, he'll be sorry if tries to pull off a goal on us."

When asked what he meant by saying 'he will be sorry', Hussain refused to comment.

Rockers Win, Fans Like It
They like it, they like it, they like it, they li-i-i-i-ke it, l-i-i-i-ke it

The Dead Rockstars played their very first game in front of a capacity crowd of against Middle March yesterday.

John Denver and George Harrison both watched the game as spectactors, moaning about how they could have been playing, if only they had died younger. Jerry Garcia also seemed quite miffed, saying "Richey Edwards shouldnt even be in the side, no one's ever found his body, he's only legally dead for god sake". Unfortunately for the ex-Grateful Dead musician, God overheard him taking His name in vain and smited Jerry. If he was grateful for being dead when he was alive, he certainly wasn't going to be in death.

Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur were also among the following, uninterested by the football but no doubt captivated by the shiney goalposts and the view of the pearly gates.

In the game itself, Ian Curtis scored a couple of good early goals before running out of steam, giving up and then getting substituted just as it looked like he was about to get his hat-trick. He came off the field complaining of a depression, which resulted in an aching neck. He also reported of having a sense of de-ja vu.

Cobain scored the Rockstars' third and final goal in the fourth minute of injury time with a header, which was remarkable when you remember that Kurt Cobain doesn't actually have a head, thanks to that infamous 'how do i get this bit of spinach out of my teeth? ah, how about...' debacle in 1994.

Rockers Fuck The Munchers

The Dead Rockstars continued their winning streak by despatching the weirdly-named Munchkinloopa with a solitary goal.

That goal was scored by star player Jimi Hendrix who converted a Noel Redding cross with his afro. Redding waited until Hendrix had been substituted later on in the game before complaining that it was he who had done all the dirty work, and Hendrix just put widdly guitar solos on everything. Redding was later laughed off the pitch by anyone who had ever heard (sorry, seen, i mean seen) Jimi play.

CRYSTILAKERE- In the battle against 1-0-0 Sliponia, the AI football team proved that yesterday wasn't just a fluke-- they're for real.

High on the success of their 7-0 victory against J7M in their first ever international match, Adam Island further built on that momentum, scoring 5 goals and giving up only one against a young but experienced Sliponian football team in a 4-4-2 formation.

Forward Adelaide Haakenson, following up on her hat trick yesterday, scored the first goal of the match, a rapid-fire shot into the opposite corned, fooling goalie Ryan Jerous. Shortly after however, AI's spectactular defense failed and keeper Paco Naccarato gave up a goal to a Sliponian forward.

The rest of the half went by quietly, aside from a yellow card administered to testy defender Terrence Sieck for a brutal slide tackle. He began to curse at the official, but was restrained by teammates and subsituted for Jeanie Nellum to give him a chance to cool down.

The teams entered halftime tied, 1-1. While fans speculated that Adam Island had let last game's success go to their head and distract them, manager Deidra Gowin blamed the lack of teamwork.

"Where's your bloody head, Terrence? [Jhonson, LM] Adelaide's been open all day and you just waste your time playing games with the defenders," Gowin shouted in the lockeroom according to reporters, "I don't seem to remember practicing a play where our strikers run around wide open by the goal while our midfielders sit on their asses playing rock-paper-scissors with the opposing team!"

This tirade seemingly worked, as AI's midfielders began to advance the ball more successfully to the Republic's three star forwards. Jhonson passed the ball to RF Twila Novello for goals twice, and once to Haakenson for a shot that bounced off the right goalpost before he got into position to score himself at 88 minutes.

As the crowd began to roar with the realization that Adam Island has just won its second game in a row by a large margain, a corner kicked in by midfielder Jeremiah Lipski was quickly knocked in by Haakenson to bring AI up 5-1, the final score of the game.

Analysts were hesitant to declare the 7 goal win over 7JM a signal that the island that discovered football only ten short years ago was a dominant force in the Baptism of Fire, but this large victory over experienced Sliponia seems to point towards an easy victory for the Adam Islandians, at least in Group D.

The Immaculate Youth

Match Day 1: The Immaculate Youth v.s. Anglevia

The team was luminous. Gavara has been training them hard for over a week, nine hours per day, forcing each player to hammer out his personal weaknesses. There were no hours wasted mindlessly on running around the field, or nonsensically kicking the ball back and forth. Every minute of every hour was spent on grinding out specific plays, on hundreds of corner kicks, on thousands of the dirtiest tackles known to football. Indeed, by the end of the training rounds, some of the players were so bruised and swollen that they started to doubt whether they would be able to deliver in their first game of the tournament. Now, however, there was no doubt left in their minds. They filed into the locker room from a short warmup session, sweaty, glowing, and happy. They felt the power. They felt they had what it would take to simply destroy whatever team was put in their way. This was their first game, and already they could taste the cup. Gavara felt that confidence and that hunger for victory radiating from his boys. He allowed himself a slight smile as he prepped the team.

The Anglevian side was something of an enigma. They had issued no addresses to the press, they had made no fanfare of their participation in the tournament, they hadn’t even publicly announced their roster. Gavara wasn’t sure what to make of the whole situation. In his thinking, it could mean one of two things; either football wasn’t at all popular in Anglevia, and the team was sub-par, or the Anglevians had prepared some nasty surprises for their opponents which they preferred to keep to themselves. Either way, the Anglevian team was somewhat of a wild card, and this made Gavara uneasy. He went over plays and set pieces with his players with meticulous care. They seemed impatient, eager to get out and play. Indeed, he had gone over these plays with them a thousand times over the past week, they had done nothing but practice them against the volunteer dummy team the Association had arranged for them. Still, he had to make sure that every player knew his role. There would be no time for clarification once they were out on the field. And so he went through the strategies, gave them a little motivational speech, and had them say a little prayer to the Ruin Smattered Maiden before finally letting them charge out into the corridor toward the field. It was finally time for the moment of truth.

As the team rushed out through their allotted gate of Lirai Asku Stadium, they were blinded by thousands of flashes from the cameras of reporters from around the world. Mark Sagana, the team’s Captain and Striker smiled widely to his teammates. He was a little nervous, a little caught off guard. Still, he thought to himself, this was part of being a real professional football player, all this fanfare and hype, and he had to get used to it, fast. There would be no room for being camera shy on the field, he had to give 100%, no distractions, no thoughts outside of the game. As his team rushed forward onto on the field, he slowed his pace, and looked around him. The stadium was packed, though not sold out. Only about half of the seats allotted exclusively to the Anglevian fans were filled. Still, there were some fifty thousand faces peering down on him, about twenty thousand of these belonging to his own countrymen. Sagana was heartened by the fact that his people had made such a fine showing in support of their team. The Dominion side was filled to the brim with dedicated fans waving Dominion flags and presenting Dominion colors. The razor was overhung with giant homemade banners covered in patriotic and religious slogans and symbolism. Sagana came to a full stop, and turned to face his coutrymen. Heart pounding, he pumped a fist in the air. Twenty thousand fans got to their feet and filled the stadium with a deafening roar which almost knocked Sagana over with its shear force. Almost exploding with the energy his people had filled him with, he scanned the topline for the V.I.P booth. He found it, and squinted at it, as if it were to give him a better view. Yes! Yes, she was here! Standing on the booth’s balcony, in all her glory, was the great leader of The Immaculate Youth, Princeps Darkstar Frostheart. Sagana’s eyes filled with tears. The Apprentice had come to see him play football. He had to win this game now. He would win it at all costs. He blew a kiss in her direction, and flung his arms out, as if meaning to embrace her. She waved to him, and his heart melted. Sagana now felt himself to be absolutely unstoppable. As he made his way toward his teammates, fireworks exploded from behind his countrymen, and a great image of the Maiden alongside her most famous saying, the Dominion’s national motto, appeared on the great telescreens which circumvented the stadium. The crowd, quite literally it seemed, went wild.

http://img39.exs.cx/img39/9850/wicked1.jpg

The teams shook hands, as per custom, and then lined up infront of one another, to hear the national anthems of the two nations. Sagana found Anglevia’s anthem, which played first, to be somewhat displeasing. An old style, “adult” national anthem, it seemed to him to be devoid of any real feeling. His opponents sang along to its lyrics, eyes glazed over, they seemed to be falling asleep to it. He wondered how this jingle, for there was no other word he could find to accurately describe it, could inspire anyone. Then again, there was much about the outside world which he could not fathom. The Revolution had apparently created a great cultural gap between his people and the rest of the world. When the first haunting cords of his own national anthem rang out, a mischievous grin spread across his face. A Teklerk, a Dominion holy man, perched atop the Dominion’s gate with a microphone, and in a piercing, shrill voice began to scream out the lyrics of The Immaculate Youth’s national anthem.

“The breed is dead our children
They were our last resort
To keep the tribe alive with
At least just a final tort
With all his evil anger
He came to take their souls
Some hang on gallows bleeding
Some lie in burning holes”

The Immaculate Youth rose from their seats at this point, and bellowed out in unison,

“We want we want we want HIM!”

Teklerk: “We came to hang him higher
We know who he was
We know where he lives
We know how to treat him
Our folk never forgives
Here we stand
And found him resting
Out of danger at least he thinks
And he will pay his debt now
Grim Reaper already winks
We came to hang him higher”

Crowd: “We want we want we want HIM!”

Teklerk: “We came to hang him higher
We want to see him pay
For all the things he did
We want to see him hang
Right here in our midst
We came to see him dead!”

Crowd: “We want we want we want HIM!”

Sagana, and all the other players, chanted this last line of the anthem along with their countrymen, fists pumping in the air. He looked around him at the foreigners. Some faces displayed disgust, others, true fear. Sagana smiled to himself. “You poor bastards,” he thought, “you have no idea what you’re getting yourselves into.

The coin toss gave the Anglevian’s first kick, but they didn’t manage to keep the ball for long. With a well executed side swipe, Thomas Kiebov relieved an Anglevian forward of the ball, and pushed it right into Sagana’s feet. And then came a long, relentless pounding. All four forwards and three midfielders fought through the Anglevian defense, and brought the ball in front of the Anglevian penalty zone. The Anglevian defense was very talented, there was no doubt about it. Defensemen stopped wave after wave of Dominion attacks, but were unable to clear the ball far enough upfield to break the siege on their goal. Seven Dominion players still managed to attack effectively against the whole Anglevian side, firing off seven shots on goal which each time were knocked out by an Anglevian player. The murderous Dominion siege ended in the 15th minute of the match. Jack Magiar caught the ball at midfield after it had been thrown out of play by the Anglevian defense. He ran the field close to the line and, faced with three Anglevian players, lobbed it desperately toward Peter Vlodar. Vlodar caught and stabilized the ball at the corner, but was immediately boxed in by Anglevians. He quickly lobbed the ball high into the penalty zone. Three Anglevian defensemen tried to head the ball out of the penalty zone, but failed to make contact with it. Sagana charged into the zone, and launched himself headfirst at the goal. He made contact with the ball, and drove it decisively at the left side of the opposition’s net. Sagana’s body hit the turf with a painful thud which knocked the wind out of him. As he looked up, gasping for air, he saw the ball resting inside the Anglevian net. A great roar went up from the crowd, from the trainers, from the players, and most loudly from the winded Sagana. The Immaculate Youth had scored their first goal of the tournament, and were now winning the game 1:0.

The teams squared off again at 15:50, and this time were much more evenly matched. The Dominion players were exhausted from their long siege of the Anglevian goal. Sagana, who had been playing harder than anyone else, was simply wasted. Gavara pulled him from the field, to much protesting from the Captain, and replaced him with the first substitute of the game, Lucas Surma. The two teams fought fiercely over the ball, and the action slowed to a back and forth around midfield. Neither team, it seemed, could win an advantage over its opponent’s stubborn defense, and both teams were effective enough to make any sort of breakaway an impossibility. This situation ended a half hour into the match, when an Anglevian forward, in a brilliant display of technical bravado, slipped past Dudek and Yarebov, and made a wild drive for the net. With the whole of the Dominion team hot on his heels, he kept a cool head, and waited until the last possible moment before making his shot. He managed to fire off a powerful shot at the top left corner of the Dominion’s goal before being savagely downed with a sweeping kick to the legs by Mark Yozoviak. Arthur Boruc, The Immaculate Youth’s young goal tender, threw himself in the direction of the shot, but was unable to match its speed. The game was tied, 1:1. The drama didn’t end on that note, however. Yozoviak was penalized with a yellow card for his vicious attack, and the Anglevian forward, obviously wounded, had no choice but to limp off the field to be replaced by another. The Immaculate Youth had just eliminated Anglevia’s best forward from the game, and were well pleased with themselves for it. Gavara brought Yozoviak off the field and replaced him with Voytek Shala.

The Immaculate Youth struck back at Anglevia with a vengeance. In a style remenicent of their first fifteen minutes, the Dominion’s players pounded the Anglevian’s relentlessly. They were angry and determined. A tie or a loss could not be tolerated. They had to have victory. The two sides, embittered by Yozoviak’s attack and following penalty, tore into each other without mercy. All niceties had faded away, the match had become a war. It soon became apparent, however, that the Anglevians were shaken by the loss of their forward. They slowly began to shrink before the growing aggression of The Immaculate Youth. The Dominion fans added to this energy, all on their feet, chanting “We want him” in unison. The fans demanded a goal. The fans demanded victory. The fans demanded blood. The Immaculate Youth pounded their opponents back into their own penalty zone, and kept them their for the rest of the half. The fans’ hunger would soon be satisfied. With barely a minute left in the half, Vlodar drove a brilliant corner kick home into the top right corner of Anglevia’s net. The Dominion’s players walked off the field at half time winning the match 2:1.

At half time, to the chants of the wild fans outside, Gavara praised his weary players.

“You’re doing very well. I’m so proud of all of you. Keep up this performance, and that fucking cup will be yours!”

The players roared their appreciation for their trainer’s praise and enthusiasm.

“However, and this must be said, keep your heads on your fucking shoulders. Things aren’t going to get any easier, so please don’t slack off. You haven’t won this match yet. Get out there, and put in as much effort in the second half as you did in the first. I saw you guys out there, murdering yourselves to get those goals. You’re going to have to keep that performance up if you plan on going on all the way. Don’t let up for a second! Because the moment you let yourselves relax will by the moment you lose everything. Now get out there and beat the shit out of those motherfuckers!”

The team roarded again, and ran out of the locker room, down the corridor, and through the gate into the chants of the fans and flashes of cameras with determined looks in their eyes, and wicked smiles on their lips.

The second half was a grueling affair for both sides. The majority of it was played outside of the Immaculate Youth’s penalty zone. It seemed that the Anglevians had regrouped, and were just as determined to win this thing as their opponents. They relentlessly pounded the net, as well as the opposing team, for a full forty-five minutes. The Immaculate Youth repaid the Anglevians in kind. Bodies were dropping everywhere, men writhing in agony from vicious blows from their opponents. Surprisingly enough, no cards were handed out in the second half, and no major injuries occurred. It seemed as if the referees had abandoned the players to their butchery of one another, and the players were well pleased with the arrangement. Though all the players of both sides fought ferociously, the true star of the second half was the goal tender, Arthur Boruc. The sixteen year old tender went far beyond earning back whatever reputation he had lost when he let in that first goal, rejecting twenty-three Anglevian shots on his net. As fans counted down the last seconds of the match, the two exhausted sides on the field slowed almost to a hault. The ref blew the final whistle, and the Dominion fans rose to their feet, letting out a great roar. Sagana stumbled toward the crowd, clapping his hands above his head, and looked over to the V.I.P booth. Darkstar came out onto the balcony, clapping, a content smile on her face. Sagana’s heart raced at the sight of her. He flung his arms out toward her, and the crowd went silent.

“Princeps!” he exclaimed, “I give you victory!”

Darkstar saluted, and then blew him a kiss. The crowd roared out its approval. The Immaculate Youth had won their first international game, and were absolutely ecstatic.
Shonar Bangla
23-11-2004, 22:05
The scoreline says it all, 1-1 with the underdog Lethislavania. The lack of aggression again showed today, as Shonar Bangla failed to get even any good attempts on the goal. With only two games to go and a rest day in the middle, Shonar Bangla MUST score two victories to assure themselves that their fate remains in their hands, not on the result of some other games.

The game began with a blast. Upon returning a corner kick from Lethislavania striker, Center Midfielder Arya Roychoudhury deflected the ball away to the center line of the field. The way was then open for any Bangali player, to run upto the ball and score an easy goal, only ache being that they would have to make it to the ball before the Lethislavanian defendors. Right midfielder Adil Siddiqui rose to the task, making his way to the ball like a cheetah. After that, the way was clear, there was only one defendor, and the goal-keeper to get past. It was an easy goal, and a morale-booster for the dejected offense of Shonar Bangla.

However, within minutes, Lethislavania struck back. The entire defense simply collapsed, as Lethislavanian icon Thomas Boeing expertly manuevred his way into the vulnerable spots of the usually solid Shonar Bangla defence. For all the talk from the Captain Hussein, he was nastily dribbled past by Boeing, Ramzan Choudhury was nowhere to be found, and veteran Mallik could not catch up to the youngster. Boeing's goal was an arrow in the hearts of all Bangalis back home, who expected a better performance today.

In the after game press conference, the team appeared optimistic nevertheless. Manager Rana Ali said, "Well, the boys did play well today. Look at it this way, we haven't lost yet, and this is our first time on the World Cup for God's sake. We have no games to play tomorrow, so tomorrow is recuperation day for us. We pray for the nation to stay with us, and not give up hope so easily. On the other hand, we are making winning the remaining two games our major priority, no matter what the cost be."

Skipper Hussein seconded, "We will definitely win the next two games. Huahin and Marligantis have nothing that need special attention."

While boarding the bus to Jinal City, enthusiastic goal-keeper Utsav Banerjee told the vernacular press, "Chinta korben na, amra obshyoi bishwo joy kore ashbo (Dun worry, we ARE going to win the world over)."

Meanwhile, back home, there has been a boost in religious fervor. Masses of the majority Muslims as well as large minority Hindus along with Buddhists and Christians, gathered together as what is being heralded the "biggest multi-religious gathering in the history of mankind" by president of the Secular Nationalist Party of Shonar Bangla.

At the rally, Habib Rahman, President of the Secular Nationalist Party, as well as President of Shonar Bangla sought to manipulate the gathering into political ammunition, where he addressed, "Today, men, women and children from all corners of our Shonar Bangla, regardless of faith or political ideals, have gathered together as one nation, to pray together for the triumph of our boys abroad. These young men are making the fatherland proud everytime they step out into a stadium of ill-wishing Bangaliphobic fanatics, and may they know as a result of this gathering of the millions, that they may be loathed there, but they are adored here. May they fill their hearts with pride, that the prayers of TWO BILLION comrades are with them, regardless of which faith is true. With this pride and confidence instilled, we wish them the best fortune to make the world look to Shonar Bangla not only as a great political power, but as a footballing power as well."

Slips moved from Maserrat to Crystilakere.

CRYSTILAKERE--The Sliponian national team and it's fans have some extra traveling to do before their first game against Antixilian Fatwah. The Sliponian's are in the middle of the road about the move.

"I already had a touring package set up in Maserrat to cover all my business and pleasure while in the country. Now I have to cancel all of that and find a new set of plans! Grrr, I'm as enraged as the handball team from NEWI Cefn Druids after they got beat by Sliponia in the Handball World Cup IV! Ha!" said one Slip Supporter.

Another supporter said, "I'll travel anywhere to see my team! I don't care whether it's here or there. I'll go anywhere!"

Anywhere indeed.

You Win Some, You Lose Some
Slips are 1-1 in Cup play.

CRYSTILAKERE--The Slips did well in winning their first match 2-1 however they failed to capitalize and ended on the losing side of a 5-1 slaughter at the hands of Adam's Island. The Slips are hoping to rebound and take a spot in the next round.

"While I'm happy with the win to open the Cup we needed to win that second game to keep momentum going into the off day. Since we lost, that means just one thing; we need points, badly. We have a terrible goal difference and just three points. I can't stress enough to the players how badly we need a win!" said Coach Jake Hammstead.

The Slips will attempt to rebound against J7M after a bye on day 3. Following the J7M game, the Slips look to solidify a qualification by defeating Hiiraan.

The lockeroom was euphoric. How had they pulled off a tie? The underdogs had been able to keep alive; Quite a good thing. Thomas Boeing ran around front, jumping and screaming, his hair blowing back. He picked up his fiance and swung her around, rather scarily. He fell to his knees and gave a banshee yell.

Meanwhile, Manager Aroyyo sat patiently for the post-game interveiw. His eye were cloudy, and his forehead dripping. I was positive we could do it, and yet... we failed. The man sat across from him and smiled, the cheesy way newspeople like to. Arroyo felt uncomfortable. The man looked at him. "What happened out there? You guys stunk!"

Aroyyo quickly glared. "Sir, you weren't much of a player back in the day yourself, so mind your mouth. We just couldn't get our offense going. Thank godness for Thomas, if it hadn't been for him... Well, I would be much mroe upset. I'm still quite proud of my men, mind you."

The mand straightened his puke green tie and smiled. "Why couldn't your goalie block that ball?"

Aroyyo shot up, and pushed the table over, pinning the man. "Stop insulting my team! Nobody's perfect, you pompous reject!" The man was turning red, and Aroyyo marched out.

In the end, the night ended quietly. The dusk settled on Lethislavania as the fans watching their T.V.'s slept, and the speckles of light dissapated, waiting for tomorrow to come.

OOC: This is my first time RPing, dunno how I am doing, but yeah!!
I was thinking this was the World Cup itself. Then, I finally went through the entire sign-up thread, Maserrat explaining the scorinator, and I actually read the entire opening post for this thread, then I realized this was something to boost your ranking. W/ever, hope my scores get better as we proceed.

A Fatal Fatwah Given as Hiiraan prepares for the next team
Hiiraan Gets and and takes out the Antixilian Fatwah

after a good bye week Hiiraan having gotten a good rest and well prepared, Hiiraan took no chances and after minutes of making ends meet, Hiiraan's Yuusuf Ali Nuur scored the first goal of the team, and after the team went up and high hiiraan went back to work to make sure that a lose was not a question mark but out of the question, anyhow the Fatwahs struggled to get enough possession and with some luck and decent players came to the box few times, the possession gap was huge almost a double fold and the team was even having not only a break down right in front of the their staff but their fans, on the start of the second half, Hiiran capitalized on the loosing emotions of the fatwahs and made the score gap 2:0, that goal came with the assist from Mahad Umar Isaaq, and they assist was pushed up and was scored by the Loyal Muse Ali Bilaal who was a substitute in the 57th minute.
the team overall is well balanced and will be seeking a second win from the already battered 7JM's who lost to the young team of adams island.

Next match:

Our next match is against a team who has not only lost their fans in a disappointing 7:0 lose to Adams island who in that match proofed their worth in world compotation, 7jm may not have a great hope in winning the next match with us but they still have a lot of chances to still proof themselves this year.

Rockstars Qualify, Hiiraan or Adams Island next

After going behind in their match with Phazania, The Dead Rockstars of Audioslavia equalised through a brilliant goal by Marc Bolan. Bolan careered his way through the defence, sprinting way too fast for his own good before running into the post. The ball bobbled into the goal however, and it was 1-1. The result means Dead Rockstars qualify where they will play one of two of the better known teams, Adams Island or Hiiraan.

Match Day 2: The Immaculate Youth v.s. Zvarinograd

The team still beamed from its 2:1 victory over Anglevia as it filed into its locker room at Marine World Park. Morale had never been higher amongst The Immaculate Youth, the players were all laughing and smiling and chatting excitedly about their upcoming match with Zvarinograd. Perhaps the loudest and most unruly amongst them was a group of three players who had somewhat distanced themselves from the rest of the team. This was not, of course, done intentionally, it was rather the result of that certain kind of self absorbtion that good friends allow themselves when having a conversation of particular interest. The three players in question were Mark Sagana, the team’s Captain, Peter Vlodar, his assistant, and Darius Dudek, the teams eight-foot-tall 300 pound big black rastaman of a defender.

“Zvarinograd,” Darius boomed out in his big, deep voice,
“that’s something like Russian, ya?”
Sagana shrugged. “Beats the hell out of me. Coach says they’re from some cold place with very ugly women.”
This last remark earned Sagana a laugh from Darius; a punch in the arm from Vlodar.
“Shut up, you wanker.” Said Vlodar. “Looking at the things you sleep with, you really aren’t one to talk.”
Sagana made a grotesque face at his teammate, rubbing his arm in an attempt to alleviate the pain from Vlodar’s blow.
“And its yet another team which hasn’t announced any kind of roster. Can they do that?” Darius continued with the topic at hand.
“Apparently they can,” Vlodar replied, “but it doesn’t mean the Association will leave it unaddressed. From what I know, things like this can very quickly cut you off from any chance of a reappearance.”
“And then what will those poor saps have left?” Sagana pondered. “Only their cold weather and their ugly women.”

This fascinating conversation was, unfortunately, cut short by Gavara’s voice advising “you nancys” to “get your asses into gear” and get out onto the field for their warmup. The team’s light pregame warmup went pleasantly enough, followed by a routine sitdown to discuss the team at hand, the set plays, and any last minute adjustments Gavara may have made to match the new opposing team. A few encouraging words, a short prayer, and The Immaculate Youth were once again streaming through the gate and onto the field where today’s battle would be fought.

The two teams shook hands, and stood opposite one another to hear the national anthems. As the last cords of the Youth’s rather grizzly anthem rang out, the team was presented with a great surprise. A figure came toward them from their gate, and they soon recongnized her, to their great delight. Elegantly walking toward them, her gown shimmering, was Darkstar herself, the Apprentice, the mastermind and Lady of the Dominion. Their eyes widened, and they all began to sweat, none of them could have imagined a greater honor than this. As she approached, they kneeled before her, as they well knew was expected, and looked down onto the turf, not daring to look that majestic lady in the eyes. She leaned over each player, placed her hand on his head, and whispered “Odrodzenie Mlodziezowe” into his ear, thus giving the whole team her own very personal, very intimate blessing. She then stepped back, and gave them leave to rise up, and look upon her. They did as she commanded, and stood before her in paralyzed awe at her faultless, majestic, commandeering beauty.

“Gentlemen,” she addressed them. “Today you once again stand upon this field of battle, prepared to fight for your nation’s honor. You must think of yourselves as warriors, as the noble knights of The Immaculate Youth, and behave accordingly. In times of war, it is the soldiers of the Dominion who take up her standard and fight to defend her from her enemies. I am sure that, if such an instance were to ever arise, you would all carry out this duty with all your being. But we are not at war. In times of peace, it is our athletes who fight for the honor of the nation, it is through sport that we express our warlike nature. This is how I think of you, and it is how I would have you regard yourselves. You make me proud, you make the whole Dominion proud, for you are the ultimate testament to the success we have achieved through our great revolution. Go, young knights, go, noble warriors of the Dominion, and conquer your enemies for the honor and glory of The Immaculate Youth!”

With this, the tens of thousands of Dominion fans rose up with a great cheer, and the team roared out their appreciation for their leader’s words. She left the field with calm and grace, and the team, filled with a new energy, prepared to do Darkstar’s bidding.

The Immaculate Youth won the coin toss, and tore into their opponents voraciously. The Zvarinogradians, it seemed, stood no chance against the great hurricane of Youth forwards and midfielders who accosted their goal with volley upon volley of fast, accurate, and hard shots. The Youth could not have performed better, denying their opponents any kind of real contact with the ball, swirling around the penalty zone as if it were the simplest of matters to render the whole of the opposing team useless. Their fine performance was rewarded with goal after goal. Sagana scored a header upon a densely guarded, and extremely confused, Zvarinogradian net ten minutes into the game. Twenty minutes in, Vlodar followed up with a miraculous shot from several meters outside of the Zvarinogradian penalty zone. The ball executed what verged on a ridiculously impossible curve and landed squarely in the top left corner of the goal. That goal, which has gone down in Youth history as a classic example of the marksmanship which made Vlodar great, was so unexpected that no one on either side managed to comprehend what had actually happened until the ball had been laying inside the goal for several seconds. Half an hour into the first half, Irenius Koval threw the ball into the penalty zone. The great mess of players inside the box all failed to make contact with the ball, and it landed with a thud a meter outside of the goal. Rados Vrobel, being the first to spot the ball, gave it a decisive kick, driving it into the Zvarinogradian net and topping off his teams outstanding performance. After half an hour, The Immaculate Youth were leading 3:0.

Though the Zvarinogradian side seamed to be completely demoralized, The Immaculate Youth were exhausted. They played the last fifteen minutes of the first half sluggishly, and despite two subs provided by Gavara, one for Sagana and one for Sokovo, were unable to pick up the pace. The Zvarinogradians regrouped, and took advantage of their opponents’ drastic decline in performance. With just five mintues left in the first half, they managed to messily fight through Youth defense after an ineffective free kick, and push their way into the Youth’s penalty zone. A back and forth struggle ensued inside the box, and finally a Zvarinogradian forward managed to push the ball past a screened and blinded Boruc, and into the Youth’s goal. With this rather confused finish, the first half of the match ended with a score of 3:1.

The two sides rested up, were both berated by their trainers, and finally came back out onto the field for the second half. The first few minutes were generally a back and forth affair between the two teams, neither being able to gain a significant advantage over the other side. This situation was to quickly change, to the dismay of the Dominion fans, and the excitement of their opposites. Fifty-five minutes into the game, the Zvarinogradians broke the Youth’s defensive line, and made a three man drive for the net. The Youth defenders quickly corrected themselves, and halted the Zvarinogradian advance, though their opponents were awarded a free kick as a result. The Zvarinogradian side executed a fine set piece play, one man throwing the ball into the box, and a second heading it past Boruc and into the net. At 56:20 the score was 3:2, and all of a sudden it was once again anybody’s game.

The remaining half hour of the match was nothing more than a long Zvarinogradian siege upon the Dominion’s goal. The Youth’s opponents were determined to score a third, so determined that not even the most brutal treatment from the Dominion defense could make them shrink from their wild drive for the goal. Yellow cards flew as Youth players struggled desperately to maintain their advantage. Dudek, Yarebov, Shala, and Kiebov were all penalized for brutal attacks upon Zvarinogradian advances. Gavara had to finally advise his players to “calm the fuck down” and “watch your fucking tackles, you fucking wankers” in fear of a dreaded red card which at this point could very quickly dash the Youth’s hope for a victory. Boruc once again proved himself to be indispensable, driving away 17 shots on goal. In the end, The Immaculate Youth prevailed. Their opponents most definitely deserved a third goal, but it was not to be. The Zvarinogradians were too excited, and in the ending minutes of the game, too panicked, to deliver the kind of calculated play they would have needed to finally defeat the Dominion’s overall solid defense.

As the fans counted down the last seconds of the match, Sagana walked wearily over to Dudek, and gave him a broad grin.
“Bollocks.” He commented.
“Bollocks indeed.” Replied Dudek with an equally wide grin.
They embraced joyfully, happy for their win. The Dominion fans bellowed their appreciation for their heros, and players clapped above their hands back at the fans, and embraced one another, and laughed joyfully. The Immaculate Youth had managed to win their second game of the tournament. For now, nothing else mattered.

Matchday 3 was a day packed with action for all in the Vilitian region, except for Shonar Bangla that is. It was a much needed "rest" day for the unfruitful team. As the captain Hussein said, "Everything is now delicately in the balance. We have to win tomorrow, if we want to leave our fate in our hands, because things get really sticky if you are depending on some other team to work on your behalf. The opponent Huahin, has lost both its games, but we should beware of complacency. Even a draw now is a death-blow to the team. We have prepared well today, and we are confident of pulling it off."

Earlier, the team watched the game between Huahin and Marligantis three times over, as they carefully analyzed the unsuccessful and successfully of the two teams respectively. It is not known if the manager Rana Ali developed any new strategy, because he refused to comment on anything special he thought of. However, after the analysis, during practice, the forwards Huzefa Calcuttawala, Murtaza Bhaimia and Deborjyoti Chakraborty practiced high jumps as well as gymnastics, especially somersaults. One can sense that the team will focus on strengthening their sidelines, and cross-field play.

After the practice, a sweaty and out-of-breath Chakraborty was heard saying, "Does that Ali fucker want us to fall on the ground and die?" On hearing this, manager Ali responded, "Well, better to die here, than go home and be banished from society forever. You draw tomorrow again, and say hello to rotten tomatoes and eggs greeting you back home."

The team hit the field, even though they were without their manager [He is currently in jail for a certian 'incident']. Thomas Boeing ran out on the field, doing two back flips. The game started rather slowly, however, as there was much back-and-forth action.

Then, 5 minutes into the gam, a tragic mistake was made by our goalie, and a ball was shot high into the upper-right corner, giving the Villapange the lead.

After the ball was put back into play, Thomas took great pride in driving it up the fieldk, then swiveled to the right, and nailed the ball right into the goal. The crowd quickly jumped in the air, pumped.

The game went back and forth as before, until it was down to one minute left. Thom surged forward, dribbling past the midfielders, then kicked the ball up. Their defendets headed it over, but Thomas came back and headed it into the top-right hand corner of the goal, sealing the game into a sweet 2-1 victory.

AI Wins By Only Two Goals!

CRYSTILAKERE- Adam Island played its worst game of international football ever, and still managed to come out on top by a score of three goals to one against a dismal Antixilian Fatwah, to clinch a quarterfinal spot in the Baptism of Fire.

AI, which had previously won games by 7 and 4 goals, got off to a very slow start. It took them 20 minutes to even get their first shot on goal, an off-balance ball kick by Adelaide Haakenson that soared far above the net.

Defensively, the Adam Islanders played slightly better, holding the Antixilian Fatwah team at bay for most of the half. Then, at about 35 minutes, Center Defender Terrence Sieck performed a horrible slide-tackle against a player that did not even have the ball. Sieck was given a yellow card, and then began to curse at and spit upon the referee. He was given an immediate red card, Antixilian Fatwah was given a pentalty kick, and Sieck will not be playing in tomorrow's key match against World Cup bracketmates, undefeated Hiiraan.

Keeper Paco Naccarato, later blaming the sun, lost sight of the kick and it sailed right past him into the goal, putting AXF up 1-0. This was the first time the Adam Island team had ever been down in a match.

Fortunatly, Haakenson scored off a corner by midfielder Jeremiah Lipski, knotting the game just before the half. Policy prohibits us from printing a single word she said in the lockerrom, but Manager Deidra Gowin gave the squad a berating they are not soon to forget.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/spartacus_007/Adam%20Island/hifive.jpg
Lipski (left) and Haakenson celebrating her goal in the first half. Courtesy: STAN

The second half dragged on much like the first, with only one shot on goal by Antixilian, blocked by Naccarato. The strikers for Adam Island seemed sluggish and unresponsive. Finally, with only 8 minutes left in the game, star and recently named Team Captain Haakenson booted the ball in from nearly midfield, a powerful strike that toppled the Fatwahn goalie over, putting AI up 2-1.

A few minutes later, Haakenson scored again, on a penalty kick coming from a handball by an Antixilian defender. This was her second hat trick in only three games of international competition, and her eighth goal overall.

Adam Island briefly celebrated, but were rapidly herded into the team bus while Gowin tried to work out a new strategy for tomorrow's match against Hiiraan. That just shows the detemination and greatness of this Adam Island squad- who else wins by two goals in an international match and treats it like a loss?

Hiiraan Somber After a God Game:
Hiiraan Going Strong After a 100% Record

Hiiraan proved it was something to watch for in this years BoF after beating down the 7JM team with 2 goals to one, the game was good and after jut minutes Hiiraan had a settled game, the Jms were very diligent in knowing that Hiiraan was very locked in its central defense, the team itself looked bright in coming from the sides but the team was no match was no match for the well experienced players who lived soccer from the day they got off their mommas belly, well they started playing later, anyway, the players showed themselves as the favorites and going strong, Hiiraan Next competition is a very organized, very hard challenger, but likewise the other team Hiiraan wants to put Adams Island in its place and come over the top, And hiiraan wants to promise that Hiiraan will not lose by to goals but if we lose we shall lose by at least a point, but non here expect that.

HIIRAAN vs ADAMS ISLAND

Hiiraan next match has to do with the well off Adams Island, after getting from 1** team to 1^** and after Hiiraan Moved to 1^**^, the team seems to be confident, the ranking system used in Hiiraan is properly ay different and some may agree that the teams are tied in competition wise, Although Hiiraan's players are taught by and play for experienced coach and play with experienced player, About 100 ex players of the Somalialand team are involved in perfecting the hiiranian side which is very good for this match, today the coach gave a press conference saying that Hiiraan was ready and the team will properly win, and to point something was wrong with the team Hiiraan sports analyst pointed toward the last game Adams island played which was very bad for the Adams who were not playing a sufficient, they lacked and properly showed that although they were wining with very high numbers, you have to not ignore they were playing team which are still not good and up tot he Adams challenger, Hiiraan bolstered that the team was not confident of a win but surely it was in a favorable position.

Hiiraan last game proved that the forwards of the team were very, very good at being fast and efficient, that teams center is also a big thing here, if they break, the teams break, but according to their training, the team is hundred percent and after a tight match from the last game Adams island is not in a good shape, and to prove this the analyst in bof SC (Sports Center) obviously showed weakened players who were both fatigued and rambled by their last game, the fatwahs really wanted to win this, but their chance for success failed after they committed horrible defensive error.

Tables

Today they tables came out, after many and many tables were distributed by the communication lines, today the vilitians who are the main host brought out the official tables for the BoF so far, it showed Hiiraan well marked in the second place with only 6 points, and that reason for six points is well known and that is because we had a bye. which every team is going to have, and if hiiraan wins every game and so as Adams island they we will be tied to first place points and the only different can come from a GD (Goal differential).

The Bof unique style is what hiiraan needs to be propelled to the top, well not the peak top but at least to a favorable to the HFF and other full proof and legal fans and critics of the well known Hiiranian side.

OTHER matches

Hiiraan as usual had to watch other matches in play and that my seem important around here, well lets go to the dead rocksters who made they winning streak die in front of their eyes.

a Dead streak
A break in the C

After very, very disastrous game for the dead rockstars, Hiiraanian analyst were proved right after they have predicted that rockstarts streak will be broken not by a nation or a team from far away but by the region ally phazinia who in fact did not win but at least tied them, not only making them very tough and almost on the path of clinching a their second place title.

Adams disaster
a Fatwah punishment

Although the game was reported long many times, this game was very disastrous for the Adams island team who had several players almost taken out from the pitch, their team who worked hard to get where they are a very courageous in that they went after what they wanted, but they paid a price, the coach from the Adams island team said today that "Adam Island played its worst game of international football ever" referring to the horrible game but the truth of the matter is that although the fatwahs punished the long ranged Adams they could not avenge and score.

Adam Island Prepares For Big Match

CRYSTILAKERE- Its the night before the big game, and the Adam Island National Football Team, which has surprised even its own players with its dominating victories in its first international competition is taking the night off.

What's that you say? Slave driver manager Deidra Gowin doesn't have them running laps until midnight? No, and in fact, star striker Adelaide Haakenson and reserve Nita Talarico are playing video games in their hotel room while starting midfielders Leeann Bernet and Jeremiah Lipski dine on pizza and soda pop. Across the hall, Terrence Jhonson and Ted Coelho were seen entering their room with a group of female fans about three hours ago and haven't been seen since. The hotel hot tub is full of more players, and even workhorse keeper Paco Naccarato is at the bar, trying to play a game of billiards while getting completely wasted.

"Well, I decided to give them a break, let them relax," Gowin said, sprawled out on her bed eating chocolates and watching videotape of Hiiraan's previous two matches, "I noticed a lot of pent-up anger and anxiousness out on the field this morning, and I want them to get it all out before the game tomorrow."

When asked about her team's chances against undefeated Hiiraan, Gowin sighed and said "I have no idea, really, I don't. We've done incredible so far, but we've only played three games total, ever. We still aren't sure how we match up compared to the world. Hiiraan is a good team, and we're going to have to be careful."

The fans staying on the floor below seemed more optimistic.

"We're going to kick those little Hiiraanian ***es!" shouted one young man holding a bottle of beer while trying to light one of Hiiraan's white-starred flags on fire. The past three days have been one huge party for the estimated 15,000 fans who made the trek to Crystilakere, after Adam Island won their games by a cumulative score of 15-2.

They have already clinched a quarterfinal slot in the Crystilakere division, and with a tie or win against Hiiraan tomorrow they will clinch the top spot in Group D. AI scouts haven't had a lot of time to scope out the various teams, but they seemed quietly confident about the game. Regardless of the outcome, it will surely set up a rivalry between the two teams, as they are also grouped together in the World Cup competition scheduled to begin at the conclusion of the Baptism of Fire championship game. There is also the possibility that they will meet in the BofF quarters or semis, depending on the outcome of the various matches.

Bhogle: "Good evening Bangali comrades, it's all happening right here, in Jinal city, Vilita, it's all goin down right herr. Here I am, in Megabeats Club, the biggest club in all of Vilita, with our own Boys, our football team."

Bhogle: "That's right. Tomorrow is our big game with Huahin, and our players have just returned from a stressful day of practice to relax and have fun. If you look over my shoulder, even manager Rana Ali....over there.....is attracting these beautiful Vilitanian gals. Hare Krishna, is he doing what I think he is doing? Is he burying his instrument in that girl's rear? Oh my goodness, this is some disgraceful form of dancing they have hear in this land of no morals. I pray his wife is not watching this."

Bhogle: "Let's go to the back of the club, I know some of our boys are back here. Hmmm, say ladies, want some champagne?"

(opens refrigerator, finds drunk Arya Roychoudhury folded up inside naked with three other females)

Bhogle: "Hare Krishna, what is happening here? ARYA, you are poster-boy of the Bangali Hindu Conservative Party, what the hell are you doing?

Arya: "Listen muthafucka, dun you see my ass having some fun, now, how about you go grab yourself some booty and stop bothering the team."

(a level headed Adil Siddiqui walks by accompanied by five beautiful women topless with g-strings)

Adil: "Tell them neo-cons back home, Allah gave man the penis for a reason. We are serving the motherland, we should get some lease. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. If we don't get to have some fun here, we won't be in the right frame of mind for tomorrow's game."

Adil: "Now Harsha, I see your mountain growing in there. Say ladies, show our ultra-conservative brother something of what Jinal city gotta offer."

(two women grab Harsha Bhogle, one grabs the camera-man; Harsha is heard mumbling about his marriage, but that ends when a wedding ring flies across the club and an ecstatic sigh is heard from Bhogle; meanwhile, the girl with the camera-man has stuck the camera between her legs)

Breaking News

Ladies and Gentleman Hiiraan held a big press conference after the media and other FA interested groups requested, apparently all this talking came from the now high status Adams team who announced today actions of several of their players after they gave them a night off, a night off right after the last night before the game,

The press conference ended with everyone shocked to their teeth:

First Journalist came from the World League News
and asked " Sir, Do you think the Adams island are teasing this team by having such a night" The coach without hesitation said " teasing, did you say teasing sir" the journalist handsomely said, "well, yes sir, I did"
the coach then replied, "well I don’t think it was teasing as much as it was failure to recognize that this team will not only wake to realize failure but they will wake realizing their own failure"

the next journalist came from the international news agency the Bedistan digest " sir, can you tell us at any point in your the news that was coming from Adams island that you said the team went over its head, I am talking about Adams island, do you think they overvalued themselves"
the coach took time to think and replied "unfortunately the coach is cocky, the players are unruly, the team is young, and you can see that by the actions of the whole organization, how can they fill their players with alcohol right after they had to play the most important game in this teams short career, its even unimaginable to not only have wasted players at the morning of the game, but have wasted coaches and staff, I think that was just the turning point of this group and the actions of Adams island not only came close to even breaking governmental law of the hosting team Crystilakere,

After few many question about the thoughts of hiiraan, Hiiraan was asked the 3 most important questions of this conference, they came from 3 reporters with one follow up from khallid Ahmed of the National News agency, a free cable news agency,

The first question popped from now where when a reporter representing the HERALD SPORTS DIGEST of krytenia asked " sir, can you exactly tell us what the hiiraanian player are doing and what is their plan for the game and what is the HFF going to do about misinterpited information"
the coach took a second or rose to compose himself and " The player, staff and the supporting staff are at this point not with each other, the supporting staff is with the players and the players are at a training camp offered by crystalakere who are hosting this region, The are training to the highest degree and they will not stop until perfection or what is close to perfection is achieved," irrupting the coach the same reporter asked another question while cutting off the coach, " so you are saying the team has something in mind" the coach then replied," the team had something in mind from the start and that is to win this whole BoF, although it may take heart and soul to do it we have heart and soul and unlike the Adams we did not come here to offer this dedicated players no prostitutes, we did not come here to give our players billiard games, and we did not come here to give them drinks, we are not going to tolerate any player who does any inappropriate behavior, ever single player knows that he belongs to playing and he wants to play with honor and pride, and unlike the Adams Hiiraan should not ever go against the hosting teams rules and policy"

the reporters sat down and then a reporter from the crystalakere News Agency asked a very hard and mighty simple question, he asked " was the Hiiraanians ever going to stop watching the team" the coach answered with a weird question he replied " do they watch TVs and what they hell is one" the reporters looked up and said, " coach you have bad jokes so stop, ok, you are not a comedian, just stop" the coach replied "well, darn it!, ok, ok , ok, I promise no more jokes"

few minutes later another reporter got little serious when he was asked if the players knew anyone here and if they are allowed to party anytime soon" the coach without taking no time to think said "give players freedom? sir, I am their coach not a dictator, every player has what to do with his Saturday and Sundays, and their bye week they only have half practice, I don’t control players beyond my limit of saying don’t break the rules, and I said that because hiiraan does not want another Somalialand fiasco"

the reporters got quit and the coach took the chance to get out and say "thank you ladies and gentleman, we had great time here and I hope this was a productive services from the HIIRAN FF"

Ask the coach left, he left with some question not answered, and some analyst even wondered if Adams island is going have a team at all tomorrow, the team who have been drinking and as their coach described it "Wasted" was going to face Hiiraan tomorrow, and by the luck of a dime. expect Hiiraan to take advantage of this inexperienced team said one analyst, showing off the coach who may one day regret this party night decision,

Catchy Cliche About Time
Slips get extra break.

CRYSTILAKERE--The Slips won a match and lost a match. What are there plans now? Winning another match, of course. The 1-0-1 Slips are preparing to battle the 0-0-2 team from 7JM. The Sliponian National team is coming off a break, but thanks to the holiday, they'll have some extra practice time. With a tie, Sliponia can move into a tie for second place with Hiiraan. Sliponia faces the weakest team in the group while Hiiraan is facing the most dominate team in the cup. Sliponia's coach, Coach Jake Hammstead, predicts that Sliponia's losing is behind them.

"Our losing is behind us" said Coach Jake Hammstead. "We have the advantage over Hiiraan. We won a match and lost a match. Now we get practice time and then we take on J7M, a rather weak squad. Hiiraan won two in a row and now has to take on the best team in the cup. Adam's Island will easily defeat Hiiraan. With the momentum on our side, we shall defeat them on the final match day for a qualifying spot!"

The Slips will attempt to rebound from the AI loss against J7M after a bye on day 3. Following the J7M game, the Slips look to solidify a qualification by defeating Hiiraan.

CRYSTILAKERE--Just as predicted by the Slips after their last game, a six-nil result was turned out by Sliponia against J7M. The Sliponian team as well as it's fans were euphoric after this win, even though they were the favorites Many felt that the goal difference is what got everyone so excited. Jake Hammstead had the exacty same sentance to start off this press conference and shared the same sentiment as the fans.

"Our losing is behind us" said Coach Jake Hammstead. "We have the advantage over Hiiraan. We've easily defeated J7M six to nil. Hiiraan just lost 2-1 to Adam Island. That is the headline that was read over the loud speakers just after half time ended. Words cannot explain the sound that the players and fans made. There is just not a word strong enough."

The Slips will attempt to capitalize on the win over J7M and Hiirran's loss to AI in their final game of the round against Hiiraan. Even though AI had some players partying the night before the Hiiraan game, Sliponia will not be using these tactics. They will be in there rooms at 10pm and lights out at 11pm. Coach Hammstead wants the team extremely well rested before this all-important match.

Adam Island Beats Hiiraan, Wins First Place!

CRYSTILAKERE- The Adam Island Football Team defeated an overconfident Hiiraan in a close 2-1 victory this morning, awarding Adam Island the Group D first place slot as the only undefeated team remaining in the Baptism of Fire.

After three days of working the players like slaves, manager Deidra Gowin gave them the night off yesterday, a move that was roundly criticized across the footballing world after reports of alcohol use and sexual encounters, two things that are generally accepted in the Adam Islandian culture.

Hiiraan's coach Mohamed Luure thought the move was very foolish, telling reporters from domestic news agencies that "well I don’t think it was teasing as much as it was failure to recognize that this team will not only wake to realize failure but they will wake realizing their own failure," and even made the charge "unlike the Adams [apparently slang for Adam Islanders] we did not come here to offer this dedicated players no prostitutes, ... and unlike the Adams [sic] Hiiraan should not ever go against the hosting teams rules and policy"

When informed of this charge, AI National Sports Director, Jason Blankers said "There is absolutely no evidence that these players engaged in any sort of sex-for-money schemes and the host nation Crystilakere has given no indication that our team's behavior last night was anything less than honorable and obedient to the rules and regulations put upon all foriegn visitors."

Despite the criticism, Gowin's decision to exchange the expected grueling practice for some R&R appears to have paid off. The players were more alert and able during this morning's match, and they needed to be, as Hiiraan was at the top of their game.

Both teams played well, and the defenses held AI to only one shot on goal during the entire first half, while Hiiraan was held to two, one blocked by keeper Paco Naccarato who appeared to have recovered from any signs of an expected hangover.

After the first half, the match was still scoreless. AI would win the first place spot even with a tie, but they're not the sort of team to settle for a tie.

The Islanders came out of the half charging. A quick assist and goal from the famed combo of midfielder Terrence Jhonson and striker Adelaide Haakenson put AI up 1-0 at only 47 minutes. Then the game regressed back into the defensive deadlock of the first half, and there was not a single shot on goal until the 80th minute, when a Hiiraanian striker knocked the ball right past Naccarato, tying the game.

The match heated up, as Hiiraan desperatly tried to score on Adam Island. Unfortunatly for Hiiraanian fans, even without star defender Terrence Sieck who recieved a red card in yesterday's competition, the AI defense has proven to be the most powerful in the tournament, giving up only three goals in four games up to that point.

Finally, with only a minute and a half to go in the game, center midfielder Leeann Bernet saw an opening at the top of the box and fired it past keeper Kamaal Ali Umar to win the game. The Adam Islanders in the stands went estatic and charged the field after the match, embracing the players as the Hiiraan team, defeated and disappointed, walked off the field.

"I think they were overconfident, expecting us to come out wasted or something," said Jhonson after the game, "don't they know that expunging sexual energy the night before helps your aim?"

"I guess Luure was partially right," said Gowin at a press conference after the match, "this team did wake to realize failure-- the failure of Hiiraan."

25-11-2004, 18:24
The game began as any other would - The crowd stirred, swaying like waves on the ocean. It was crazy; this was one of the most excited crowds Aroyyo had ever seen. Shaking his head, thinking about the incident with the radio personality, he strode onto the field waving his hand, clad in a green and white jumpsuit. His team followed, pumped, jogging. Thomas ran out and cartwheeled over to his team's bench. Rising, the crowd clapped and cheered, as Thomas was one of the biggest breakout players of the tournament.

The game started out in Marligantis' favour, as Iolgmiia'irot'rl'g No'ttaai'rltuggu ran forward, dribbling expertfully around Timothy Johnson. Running up to Varnelo and Vorela, he faked them out by taking a large stride to the left, and nailing the ball. It looked as though it would be an easy catch for Jorge, but as he went for it, he slipped and fell, and watcehd sadly as the ball sailed into the lower-left hand corner of the goal. The pink side of the crowd erupted like a volcano, showing the fiery spirit of Marligantis' fans.

Restarting the ball, the game when back and forth, untill, with a minute to go in the first period, Vorrece Peltier slide-tackled Aar Lai'aao, and cursed him out. Aar jumped up and slugged Peltier, who then came up and grabbed Aar by his long hair and kneed him in the groin. Aar slumped over, and Peltier stood, coughing. The ref ran over, blowing his whistle and gave both of them a red card. The pink side exploded in anger, throwing their uniforms, cups, food, and any other items they could find at the referee.

At the break, Aroyyo had a long chat with his team, and switched his strategy back to an agressive postition of: Shoot. Score. The team rand back onto the field, energized and hoping for a win.

They started off the match by giving Thomas the ball, who dribbled it up field, then gave a long glancing shot leftwards and up to Kerry Twilder, who headed it in for a tied game.

The crowds exploded, one side angerily, the other joyously. Marligantis' side yelled at the ref, claiming offsides. The call stood, however, and the score was 1-1.

As the ball came back into play, Cel Karra dribbled up the field angerily, and pounded the ball over the Margilantis' goalie. What inflicted this anger? It was hardly a beautiful play, but they got it done. The Marligantis side tried toget it back down the field, but it was to no avail. Parincia and Parincia held them at bay, not even letting them close to Jorge, who was still majorly embarassed by the earlier goal and was not ready to worry about any more ball soaring.

Then it happened; Marligatnis charged up the field, almost with a god-given momentum all coaches fear. The quickly nailed the ball up, tieing the game. The excitement raised to fervor pitch, almost as though an earthquake was to be released.

There was only 31 seconds left. Thomas Boeing took the ball and dribbled up field, hoping for the best. The clocked waned down slowly, yet he couldn't get closer. Five... Four... Closing his eyes, he pulled back his foot. Three... Two... He made contact sending the ball spiraling towards the goal. One... The goalie jumped, but it slipped through his fingers.

The game ended with that horn, which carries so much nostalgia for so many people. Lethislavania's crowd ran onto the field in throngs, pulling over the goals, and literally ripping apart part of the stands. Fireworks shot off in the parking lot, as some mischivous teen celebrated his team winning. It was a drunken night, that was for sure, but this game put Lethislavania and Adam's Island as the two best teams in the tournament, point wise, and Lethislavania was waiting eagerly to meet this team, if it was to happen.

Anchor: Hello everyone, this is Clinton Leander with the Sliponia Sports Network. We're going to go straight to Erik Hirschman live at the scene of the Sliponian National team at the Baptism of Fire. Erik?

Erik: Yes, hello Clinton. I am here as Sliponian coach, Jake Hammstead is preparing to begin with his speech. And here he is.

Jake: I would like to thank everyone from Sliponia and across the world from coming out to listen today. I will make a brief comment and then I'll take a few questions. The main point we would like to make today is to send our congratulations to the team from Adam Island. We thank you very much have having defeated Hiiraan and giving us the second place advantage over their team. If we play you in the next round, we hope to come closer than the last game. Don't think that because we were blanked by seven goals last time, that we haven't complete changed our strategy towards your team. In regards to Hiiraan, we are going to go into that match with our heads held high but at the same time, we will be very cautious. I believe cautious optimism is the correct phrase. Now, I'll answer any questions the media may have.

Reporter #1: Can you elaborate any on your strategy towards Hiiraan?

Jake: Well, I don't want to give away all of our secrets but I'll say this. Capitalize early and then sit on it. Next question?

Reporter #2: If you make it out of this round, how do you expect to keep up with the other teams?

Jake: We plan on changing our practice a little. We will train harder from longer. In my experience, that has worked great in later round play. The media director in the back is signaling that I need to go, so I would like to thank everyone for coming today. We'll see you at the match.

Erik: Well, there you have it Clinton. A few interesting quotes came out of today's release. The main points of the release were to get ahead early and stay there. Clinton, back to you.

Clinton: Thank you, Erik. We'll have more information tonight at ten. For the Sliponia Sports Network, this is Clinton Leander, see you tonight with more.
The Immaculate Youth

Match Day 4: The Immaculate Youth v.s. Chonchland

In the Youth locker room at National View Stadium the atmosphere was tense. The Dominion players were well rested thanks to the day off they had enjoyed on Match Day 3, but for the first time since the beginning of the tournament, they were all very anxious. They were anxious, for this day, this match, would decide if they would advance from their group, or simply fade away from the tournament, all their hard work for not. They all carefully studied the dossier Gavara had handed out to them. Chonchland, it seemed, was no push over. They had won their first match against Zvarinograd 2:1, and went on to tie their second match with Hammerund 2:2. The Youth had earlier watched a recording of the Chonchland-Hammerund match, and it was all too clear that Chonchland had nearly won that game. As it was, they were two points behind the Youth, in second place, but it was abundantly clear to everyone in that locker room that the roles could have been easily reversed.

“Notice,” said Gavara to his team as he paced the locker room floor, “that Zvarinograd and Anglevia both have 3 points gentlemen. If we lose this match, and either of those teams wins with a sufficient goal differential, we will be driven down into third place, and threatened with elimination from this tournament. If we win, we guarantee ourselves advancement. Chonchland is a serious adversary. They want this thing as much as we do, and are even more determined knowing that they should have easily beaten Hammerund, and been in our position today. For whatever reason, they were off their game in their match with Hammerund, but do not expect them to be off their game today. Today they will do everything in their might to tear you all new assholes. Do not underestimate this team, they are dangerous. Your opponents are dangerous, gentlemen, and victory is imperative. Today, defeat is NOT, AN, OPTION.”
Gavara stopped pacing, and stood before this team he had assembled, looking at them gravely. “And one more thing,” he said, his voice low and serious, “watch your tackles. I know you got away with it against Anglevia, and that’s probably because the ref had some pain fetish, or was blind as a bat. Against Zvarinograd, you almost cost this team a red card with your viciousness. I know you all want to win, the Maiden knows I want to just as badly as you do. But if any of you get a red card, you’ll be tossing victory out the window for all of us. So please friends, tone it down. Win this match, but win it by skill, not by brutality. Understood?”
“Yes boss!” the team chanted out.

And so proceeded the traditional pre-game routine. Set plays, special plays, words of encouragement followed by a prayer to the Maiden. Though they were all there, participating in that which had become a ritual, none of them were truly present. The Dominion players had reached some special place in the human mind which allows us to play out the future to ourselves before it happens, and perhaps, determine what it will bring. Their minds and their souls were already on the field, fighting the life and death struggle which awaited them. Gavara took notice of the glazed over look some of his boys had in their eyes, but he said nothing, for he fully understood where they were and what it was they were doing. Game time soon arrived, The Immaculate Youth ran out onto the field, shook hands with their opponents, and listened to the national anthems. And when the ref blew his whistle to signal the start of the game, they all had the strange sensation that they had all caught up with their own souls, which for some reason had ran up ahead….

Contrary to their worst fears, the match against Chonchland was somewhat of a cakewalk. The opposition, it seemed, wasn’t as dangerous as they had assumed. The Dominion players took Gavara’s advice to heart, they eased up on the tackles, and engaged in a more technical game against their newest of rivals. It paid off in dividends. The Chonchlandians were unable to keep up with the technical wizardry of the Youth’s forward party, and quickly became frustrated by the rhythm of the match, by the fact that they were somehow unable to keep hold of the ball, or relieve their opponents of it. The Immaculate Youth were playing what was for them a new quality of football, something that perhaps only Gavara knew they had in them. They complimented one another wonderfully, slowly and graciously moving through the Chonchlandian ranks and delivering volley upon volley on their opponents’ net. Thankfully for the Chonchlandians, they had an extremely talented goaltender who constantly denied these deadly attacks on his goal. If it were not so, the match would have very quickly turned into a massacre. The Chonchlandian’s frustration quickly turned into anger, and they began to perform brutal attacks upon the Dominion players, hoping to achieve by pain and injury that which they were unable to achieve by skill. Tempers flared, shoving matches between the two teams began to frequently interrupt the game. Gavara desperately shouted and signaled to his players to keep their cool. Though the Chonchlandians were rewarded with several yellow cards, the Youth began to lose their momentum. Gavara, along with the rest of the Dominion bench, began to despair. Sagana, who was never known for a good temper, was pulled off the field and replaced by Anatol Doros, to loud protests from both the fans and his teammates. And then, of a sudden, the air was cleared by the ref. Twenty minutes into the game, Doros, advancing on his opponents’ goal, was felled by a brutal tackle. The ref briskly stepped up, flashed a red card, and awarded a penalty kick. The Chonchlandians swarmed around the referee, shouting and swearing and waving wildly. Upon being threatened with the prospect of a second red card, they calmed down, and slowly dispersed. Doros easily delivered the penalty kick, and The Immaculate Youth lead 1:0 after twenty minutes of play.

Short handed, it seemed the Chonchlandians had no hope left for victory. The remainder of the first half was played in their own territory, but it must be said that they fought like lions defending it. The Immaculate Youth, having somewhat regained their composure, applied a steady, calculated pressure to their rivals. Their efforts ended in another one of Vlodar’s brilliant free kick goals forty minutes into the match, and the first half ended with The Immaculate Youth leading 2:0.

The second half of the match was somewhat of a dull affair, as sometimes happens in football. The Immaculate Youth, content with their two goals, made no special attempt to increase their lead. The Chonchlandians made a few futile attempts to bridge the gap early in the half. Their hopes were soon dashed by a resurgent Sagana, who attained an unexpected breakaway and defeated the Chonchlandian goaltender in a one-on-one stand off which bumped the score up to 3:0 in the 65th minute of play. The Chonchlandians were from this point on completely demoralized, and ceased to pose any serious challenge to their opponents. The last half hour marched along slowly, and finally the ref blew the final whistle, announcing the end of the match, and The Immaculate Youth’s victory.

The Dominion fans got to their feet and bellowed their appreciation for the victory their side had given them. The players too went wild, performing cartwheels and flips, embracing one another, singing and laughing. Gavara too jumped to his feet, clapping and shouting, for this was truly a momentous moment in Dominion football. The Immaculate Youth had proven their worth, and guaranteed themselves advancement to the quarter-final. Reporters rushed onto the field, eager to get the first interviews with the victorious side. Five or six reporters and their cameramen swarmed around Gavara, demanding his input.

“Mr. Gavara, how do you feel?”
“I feel absolutely spectacular right now, if you hadn’t noticed.”
“Mr. Gavara, could you please comment your team’s performance in today’s match?”
“Today, my boys showed that they are truly world class athletes. I have under me a group of very talented players, who know how to keep their cool under pressure. I think they’ve proven today that they have what it takes to take it all the way to the cup.”
“Mr. Gavara, many people criticized you for selecting such young and inexperienced players, what do you have to say to them?”
“Shut it up, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Mr. Gavara, any thoughts on your teams upcoming match with Hammerund?”
“We’ll play our game against Hammerund the way we play all our matches, to win. We’re not going into this match big headed. My boys know that underestimating your opponent means setting yourself up for defeat. And we want our twelve points! We’re going to fight just as hard against Hammerund as we have fought against every other team we’ve been faced with.”
“Your thoughts on the quarter final, Mr. Gavara?”
“We’re going to be watching the Marligantis: Shonar Bangla match very closely. We’ll be squaring off against one of these two teams in the quarter final, so its time to start studying their performance now.”

The questioning continued for a long while, as did the celebration of the players on the field and their fans in the stands. Thus ended Match Day 4 for The Immaculate Youth…

Shonar Bangla
26-11-2004, 06:58
The day began well for the Shonar Bangla team, with everyone, including the manager getting a piece of the fabulous Vilitanian booty cuisine. As scientific studies have shown, make the penis happy, and the man is happy. As a result, despite all the pressures, the team went into the game without crapping in their pants.

The game saw a record low crowd turnout, despite its high profile, especially for Shonar Bangla. Perhaps it is because of the workaholism of the masses of Shonar Bangla that led to the low turnout. The game itself though, was very eventful. Huahin won the toss. The first half hour went by without any hiccups, except for a pretty good chance for Huahin at the goal, that went wide and high.

At the thirtieth minute, Shonar Bangla received a corner kick. The fearsome swinger of the ball, Boidurjo Bose was the kicker. Heads went up, bodies toppled, hands flew, everything collided into a big chaos, but the ball swung into the net like a rocket on a trajectory. The rest of the half ended without significant occurrences.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Left Defender Aritra Basu fouled on a Huahin forward, the judgement perhaps was harsh. He was given a yellow card immediately. Ali took Basu out of the game, and brought in substitue from the bench, Jaleel Akbar, for first exposure on the international arena. On the free kick, the ball deflected off Akbar, and entered the net.

Then went by agonizing minutes, as Shonar Bangla attempted to bring some fire into their offense. It was Lethislavania all over again. Ali tried all sorts of combinations, in the 78th minute, he made a change. Right forward Chakraborty was taken out and Arko Sen was brought in from the bench. Veteran defender Suvankar Mallik was also taken out, replaced by forward substitute John Howard. The 3-3-4 ploy worked. In the 82nd minute, off a pass from midfielder Adil Siddiqui, Arko Sen somersaulted firing the ball into the goal.

In the 84th minute, Huahin came close to scoring a goal, but this gave Jaleel Akbar to redeem himself. What seemed to be a sure goal (3 forwards for just him and goalie), he diverted the ball with a military charge whose sound could be heard in the commentary box. Poor Huahinian forward wetted his pants and had to leave the field and Akbar salvaged himself.

In injury time, Shonar Bangla sealed their victory with an easy goal off a free kick by Arya Roychoudhury.

Following the game, the players attended the Press Conference, as has become the trend with games in this tournament. Manager Ali appeared exuberant about his team's victory, but warned against complacency, "Huahin were already winless, they are no headache. We should stop getting euphoric, leave today's game for the self-proclaimed pundits, and focus on tomorrow's big game with Marligantis."

Hussein added in with, "This is a great morale-booster, but it seems like our strategy works. Tonight, we are returning to Megabeats Club, to have some fun and repeat today tomorrow."

The mood in the locker room is more cautious against complacency, than euphoric. Earlier, Ali was heard yelling, "Listen you worthless maggots, I hope you now see why we should have beaten Lethislavania, we wouldn't be in this fukin mess that we are in. We entered this tournament in the frame of mind that we would dominate these newbies, but your complacency has led us to playing a do-or-die tomorrow with a team with class."

Ali: "Listen, where is that meddlesome fool, that reporter guy, Bhogle's the name, yeah!! Where is that prick?"

Arya: "I dunno, last person to see him was Adil."

Adil: "He's gone back home, the skipper Hussein called the football association yesterday, telling them that this son of a bitch was intent on defaming us. He is facing a divorce case from his wife too, for cheating on him."

Ali: "Good, that's good, that interfering prick is outta here. Say what boys, let's go to MB club, huh, have some fun, hahaha!!"

(rest of team laughs, showers up, and leave for Megabeats Club)

Ali: "Remember boys, tomorrow, we will have an hour session of practice before the game with Marligantis. Have your fun tonight, but get some good sleep and nutrition, be sober tomorrow morning, because if you ain't, Allah kasam you will be castrated, if not by me, by some Bengali wherever you go in the world."

'After the tie in their last game , reporters swarmed around the national coach trying to get a comment about the game. They were expecting a heavy criticism on the players as he usually is not gentle about low performance of the team squad. Strangely enough the coach dismissed them to the press conference of the next hour and left without a word more.
In the press conference Mr David Adangi, the team's assistant coach made his comment:
' Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today we did not see a well played match as both teams had similar tactics and the field status was bad with puddles of water in some places. Our opponent played with a keen spirit and we were unable to overcome their well disciplined team. Our most skillfull players were intimidated by some the rough tackles of their defenders and I now have the report that one of our key players might not play in the next game in result of that. The result was fair and we congratulate our opponent . What we ask for the next match is that the Referee be more strict and a better field.
Our coach had to leave for personal reasons. He will be back tomorrow.
Bye.'

Hiiraan is going to go for the win over sliponia to make it to next round of the BoF, hiiraan chances against sliponia improved after a hard training pulse made by the team, the team itself went 5 hours of traing per night and about all day traning,

we are now looking to take advantage of the sliponian loses over the past 5 days, they have weak defense and a weak offense, so, we will work both on the out side and the inside

the last time we faced sliponia, hiiraan had alot to make up,, they had alot to do, this time we want to do more and with less effort, hiiraan will go over to the field and give out something mesmorizing said hiiraan coach, after a large press confrence

Hiiraan is now going to make up, a ground lost to adams island after their wins, and the team i spredicting another win, for them in the first game of the next round, as they have went through the first round very easily

CRYSTILAKERE--Just as predicted by the Slips after their last game, a two-one result was turned out by Sliponia against Hiiraan. The Sliponian team as well as it's fans were euphoric after this win. This is the furthest the Slips have ever gone in any sort of soccer competition.

"This is a momentus occasion," said Coach Jake Hammstead. "We did it! We have done something that no other team from Sliponia has ever done. We are not looking to stop here. We want to take advantage of our winning streak and continue on over the Dead Rockstars. If we made it out of our group, we can make it at least one more game. There are just a few games left, if we can win them, our KPB points will be amazing! We have three games left, either way, we know that we are one of the four best new teams. We're not looking to play for third place. We're going for the win. We'll take on any team. We're not going to say we're the best team alive. We are just going to let our actions on the pitch speak for us."

This Sliponian squad will go down in our record books as one of the best. We look forward to the Slips next match against an evenly matched Dead Rockstars team.

CRYSTILAKERE--This Sliponian national taking part in this tournament keep setting national records. Sliponia has never been this far in any tournament and are now one game away from the championship game. The team is optimistic but are aware that anything can happen.

"We are very excited about this win last night," said Coach Jake Hammstead. "With that win, we've taken a step forward, and we hope to continue making strides forward in our international soccer. We're not looking to play for third place. We're going for the win. We'll take on any team and give them a run for their money. We're not going to say we're the best team alive. We are just going to let our actions on the pitch speak for us."

The last time these two squads faced off, Sliponia limped away after a five-one pounding. Sliponia looks to keep its winning streak alive and avenge the loss.

The crowd pulsed as banners, strips of vibrant colour representing various teams, rippled through the air, causing a sharp brushing noise. Thundurous claps and violent flashes of light appeared as the players took the field, the Lethislavanian team clad in honourary purple uniforms. Pledges of the home countries were played, as patriotic members sang in a large, unanimous voice. The voices echoed over the parking lot, carrying an eerie feeling of nationalism.

The game began uneasily, as Chonchland dominated the defense. Even the duo of Parincia seemed to have trouble controlling the onslaught of pure power. Chonchland wore them down, physically and mentally. The team structure fell apart, and the formations broke loose into a myriad of odd shapes and struggling players. Aroyyo threw his head back in disgust and yelled venomous curses, hoping to change the ebb of the biased tide. Then the final threadss were snipped. The team fell apart at the sides, and the offense of Chonchland shot forward, and drilled a ball hurriedly into the loosely woven netting of the goal. The Lethislavanian team fell to their knees in unison, and the break came to pass.

Walking, sadly, to the locker room, the smell of sweat and sadness echoed throughout the room, adding to the dark melancholy the team emited. Aroyyo's head hung low, as though he were reading some form of script on the pale, concrete floor. "Men," he started. "I am proud of you. You are like son's to me. You are the essence of my job, my life. But what you are doing - I can not let this stand. You are of much better calibre than this. Where is the passion, the flame, the fury you one wrought upon the field of football? Ignite your game men, and we touch the souls of our countrymen. Lose, and we crush them." Swiftly, he marched out, not waiting for a response. The footsteps echoed.

Sounding the second half, the Lethislavania team seemed... different. Poised and cool, they hit the field like a well-oiled bicycle, rolling past the independent walkers. Thomas Boeing flew up the field, his legs seemingly invincible. The ball was not an obstacle, nor a pain, it was his life. He pounded it, sending it soaring over the head of the opponent's goalie. Falling to his knees, drenched in sweat and a foul odor of a long workout, his exhausted face hit the ground, kissing it. The crowd erupted, the cheers vibrating through Thomas, evoking memories of his hometown, and of his wife, who was at home watching. Tears, hot and salty, trickled down his face slowly. He coughed, and rose. Walking back to restart, he only had one thought: win.

It began again. A furious dribble by Thomas. Smiling, the defense encroached around him, sharks closing in on helpless prey. Only one problem: Thomas wasn't as selfish man. Lobbing it over to Cel Karra, he held the defense up long enough for his friend to loft the ball graciously into the net. Thomas ran over and picked his friend up, yelling until the very skin of his throat felt hoarse and dry. The whole team thronged together, a euphoric feeling exploding throughout. They were going to play the Immaculate Youth team. And they were going to win.

OOC: Any good? :P Hope somebody reads it... I'll delete this if OOC comments are not appreciated, however, I would like to discuss this whole tournament with someone.

CRYSTILAKERE- Adam Island defeated Phazania in a shutout 2-0 victory to advance to the regional final, just one step away from competing for the Baptism of Fire championship.

After a bye day spent training hard, the Adam Islanders came out prepared to defeat a Phazanian team headed by star attacker Mario Anaus. AI started out fairy well, keeping Phazania at bay on defense while attempting four shots on goal, three of them by Adelaide Haakenson, who has become an international star in this tournament. Unfortunatly, they were all blocked by keeper Mark Anumbi, leading the frustrated Haakenson to blow up at a referee, resulting in her first yellow card.

The 22d minute saw a spectactular save by defender Terrence Sieck who sat out Thursday's game with Hiiraan due to a red card. Anaus kicked a goal on the right side of the box, which hit the post and rolled in front of keeper Paco Naccarato. Naccarato went after the ball, but Anaus ran up and side-kicked the ball left to fellow striker Julian Jules. Jules was wide-open in front of an unblocked goal, so he booted the ball towards the net. Sieck quickly saw what was happening and dove in front of the goal, with the ball punching him in the stomach. Defender Otis Zaragosa got ahold of the ball and was able to kick it downfield and out of harm's way.

Eight minutes later, Haakenson had the ball at the top of the Phazania box, faked a kick and passed it to Twila Novello who knocked the ball past a surprised Anumbi to put AI up 1-0.

Haakenson had the opportunity to add yet another assist to her record, as Phazania kicked the ball out of bounds near the end of the half. She tossed it in towards the goal, where Celina Fesperman, utilizing the skill that made her famous, headed the ball past the keeper and into the goal.

The second half was mostly uneventul, aside from a handball committed by AI defender Beverley Sinegal. The penalty kick by Anaus had a nasty curve and nearly got by Naccarato who had to leap several feet to tap the ball away.

In the Crystilakere Regional Final, Adam Island will play old groupmate Sliponia, who they beat 5-1 in the second match of competition. Don't expect the same sort of blowout though- the Sliponian team has gathered itself and studied Adam Island strategy, and are riding a high momentum after their defeat of Hiiraan and Dead Rockstars, both favorites before. Sliponia has the ability to pull off an upset, and AI manager Deidra Gowin knows it. She's having her team run double practice today and has spent the last eight hours doing little but studying Sliponia game footage.

"They're a great squad, and its an honor to play them," said Gowin after hearing the result of the Sliponian victory over the Dead Rockstars, "its a thrill to be playing for the regional final and we hope that the best team will win and that regardless of the outcome, I am confident the match will be fair and honorable, as we have both already done our home nations proud."

Behind her, roudy Adam Island fans burned Sliponian flags and effigies of their players.

"THIS IS ****ing BULLSHIT!!" captain Abdul Zakir Hussein was heard screaming at the after-game presentation ceremony/press conference. "Three of our goals was called off-sides by that prick, I think the whole world would call them fair and square goals. That son of a bitch prick was an agent of Immaculate Youth," Hussein accused.

This issue has brought up the long time campaign for a third referee who watches television replays, in order to correct any mistake by the ground referee. A dejected Rana Ali told the camera, "We were cheated out, because we weren't turning up the crowds. What can we do, Shonar Bangla is a workaholic nation, a poorer one at that, our people didn't get to show up in large numbers as say the Lethislavanians. It all falls back on money, it always does."

Meanwhile, back home, the government of Shonar Bangla has officially sent a complaint to the FIFA (accepted world body for football). Although accepting the verdict of the game, the letter calls for an investigation into this matter: "We are deeply disappointed by several of your employee's decisions in an occassion of such auspicious national pride............we will not cease till the matter has been dealt with with proper punishment."

After the game, Imam Shaukat Hizamuddin, Imam of the Bongo Masjid (largest mosque in Bengal) and prominent figure in the Secular Nationalist Party issued a three-page long fatwah. To quote some lines, "Let it be hereby known, that he who is an honorable Believer of the Faith, Islam, has been assigned the Divine duty from Allah Almighty of eliminating the umpire of the battle between Shonar Bangla and Immaculate Youth. Be you known, if you refrain yourself from this Duty, you commit Kufr, and earn yourself a place alongside all Kafirs."

Adam Island Finally Loses

CRYSTILAKERE- The magic ride is over, as the Adam Island National Football Team has finally lost their first international match. After winning all four matches in Group play, AI lost 2-1 to Sliponia in the Regional Final, and will not advance to Vilitia for the Baptism of Cup championship. They will however, play a third-place consolation match against either The Immaculate Youth or Lethislavania.

Adam Island played well, but Sliponia played better. After losing to AI 5-1 the last time they met, the Slips put it together as a team and came out strong, scoring both goals in the first half of play. Keeper Paco Naccarato blocked several, but the Slip strikers proved too much for him today, and he gave up two goals, the most ever for him in international competition.

A demoralized and dejected Adam Island team who barely defeated Phazania yesterday came into the lockerroom at the half with heads hung low. And although fan favorite Adelaide Haakenson scored yet another goal, a swift steal and knock-in from a Sliponian defender, it wasn't enough and the players left the field in the same manner at the end of the game as well.

The team was downcast and depressed after the match, and practice afterwards seemed half-hearted. They had better step it up-- tomorrow they not only play the third place game but also their first World Cup match.

Roaring crowds illuminated the stadium with small bursts of light from their digital cameras, their shouts quickly getting louder and louder. Chants continued from both sides, adding to the excitement and impatience of the Lethislavanian team. Flinging open the doors, Aroyyo smiled and casually led his team to their side, where the National Anthems were played.

O!, the beauty of her cross,
The valor of her arms,
Carry us indeed,
Through the troubling sea,
Cast aside my doubts,
Worry not about,
Mother Freedom,
We rely on thee!

Clapping exploded forth, though not whistling as many would expect. The game began, sure enough, with Thomas Beoing quickly shooting up the side of the field, masterfully controlling the ball. Pulling back, his foot drills the ball, spinning it into the upper-right hand corner. His jaw dropped, as though an insurmountable weight was on it. 29 seconds into the game, and already a goal. The momentum was there; they just needed to pull it together.

Cel Karra took the ball, and passed it back and forth between the Immaculate defenders, then dribbled it around Sr. Dudek, and knocked it through Arthur Boruc's legs, sending the score higher to 2-1. The crowd applauded furiously. The team was pulling it together, as they never had before.

Restarting, The Immaculate youth shifted up, bringing parts of the bench into play. Almo Rodriguez came in, replacing Cel, and quickly dribbled around Rados Vrobel and Thomas Kiebov, then turned sharply and lofted it forward towards Thomas, who jumped almost like a Kangaroo and nailed it with his head, thrusting it into the goal. 3-0, Lethislavania!

Angerily, the Immaculate Youth came back, as Irenius Koval and Rados passed it back and forth, confusing even the tenacious Lethislavania defense. They knocked the ball around a bit more, then with 32 seconds left in the half, Irenius pumped the ball into the goal, arousing the sleeping fans of the Immaculate Youth. [No, they weren't [I]actually sleeping.] The horn sounded, bringing the first half to a close with a score of 3-1, Lethislavania.

OOC: I shall let Immaculate finish this off. All I ask, don't give Thomas another goal.

Adam Island Takes Home Third Place!

CRYSTILAKERE- Adam Island took home the third place trophy in the Baptism of Fire tournament today, with a glorious 2-0 victory over The Immaculate Youth. Led by Adelaide Haakenson, who has had the week of her career, Adam Island surpassed all expectations, and although there is some disappointment that they did not play in the title match, they came into the tournament just hoping for a win or two. They got six.

Keeper Paco Naccarato played a brilliant game, stopping five shots from becoming goals. He even managed to score an assist-- a brilliant cherry-pick kick across nearly the entire length of the field, catching TIY defenders off-guard and allowing forward Twila Novello to score a quick goal to put AI up 1-0 in the first half.

By the 80th minute, AI held onto their 1-0 lead, successfully slowly the pace of the game down, both to maintain their win and conserve energy for the World Cup which they would be flying to immediatly after the awards ceremony. But then, a penalty by a TIY defender gave Haakenson a penalty shot and the second goal of the game.

Adam Islander fans went wild as they rallied around the team. President Ben Rodriquez had flown into Crystilakere the night before to watch the team, and he personally shook hands with each player and embraced manager Deidra Gowin, announcing that "this team has ushered in a new era of Adam Island sports."

Their first international competition over, the Adam Island team has survived the Baptism into world football and will now set their sights on competing with the big boys.
