ooc. A large story I have been working on. It's based on a historical battle. If you can tell me which you win.

I.C. The Eletiris river is often called the lifeline of Celack. IT runs from the southern border, throught the dry desserts of the Salakamikian land, to the lush forests of Beneleca, throught the Guardian mountains, to the lush Etteradian valley, and throught the captial of Celack itself, Etteradi and out into the northern sea. The Guardian mountains have stood for 5000 years, a natural fortress against invasion. At the only point the Eletiris river crosses the moutains is the greatest fortress of them all, Travina fortress. The river in the middle of a deep chasm and the fortress is on both sides of it. There are naval defenses set up to sink any ship planning to invade Celack. The watchtowers set up in ancient time, serve to keep the army informed of where the enemy is attacking from. The men from the mountains, are excellent snipers and archers, always willing to lay their life on the line for the defense of their homeland.

The forbodding defense,in their 5000 year history, have only been breached once. This is the story of it.

TBC.

2000 years ago (2998 YSL*) Celack and CapAp relations were strained to the breaking point. Celackian forces were stationed all along the border. The northern sea was filled with warships, many of which had crews which were vetrans from the campaign against the Genetias pirates. The Islands were occupied and the pirates headquaters in the sea cliffs had been converted into a thriving mining community. What was unknown, at the time, was that the pirates were actually privateers hired by CapAp. During the destruction of all the ships and men in Celackian waters, 45% of of the pirates ships were in CapApian Harbours. A large number of the men also survived including their leader, Orzabi. His brother had been captured and executed by the celackian as he was percieved to be the leader. When Orzabi learned of this he went to the emporer of CapAp, swearing revenge on the Celackian people. He promissed the emporer that he would deliver the heart of Celack and the head of it's king if he could get a sizable force of men. The emporer was intrigued and gave Orzabi 10,000 men.

*Years since liberation.

o.o.c. I would type more but I have to go to work now.

Orzabi had his fleet gether at lake tiberian. There were 80 warships. 125 men boarded each ship and the fleet set sail. They crossed the Saropeth* and destroyed the fortress that was guarding it. Despite their ferocity and savageness one man escaped on horseback. He was the lord in charge of the fortress. At the start of the battle he had fought with courage and honour but he saw that the battle was hopeless and with a heavy heart he took off on his second duty. When the fortress was breached the lord was to ride to all the towns along the river and warn them of the invading forces. He rode all night and day and at dusk on the second day he arrived at the first village. He warned the mayor of the village. The mayor summoned the best boaters the village had and told them what had happened and what was too happen if the pirates struck the villages unwarned. The boaters understood their task. An hour after the lord had arrived at the village 15 small boats were launched. One to warn each village of the incomming pirates and one to take the lord to warn the king.

The lord reached mountain pass fortress, as it was called in those days, just as the king was doing his annual inspection with an honour guard of 500 of the elite of the Celack army. The king was notified of the incomming pirate fleet and he realized that a stand would have to happen. He sent a messenger to the nearby mountain village to get reinforcements.

*the point where the Eteradis enters Celack.

OOC- Oooh! Oooh! Pick me, pick me! The battle you're describing sounds like Thermopylae, what with the 500 elites and all. But the romanticized version of Thermopylae....not thae actual version. But still, cue dramatic music, tension, and one kick-ass battle.

Now, as winner, what do I get? :D

o.o.c. sorry sam. This be a solo rp. I know both versions of the Thermopylae story. Damn double crosser. That, however, is pretty much the only thing that is the same. I'm not going to reveal anything hut yes, there will be a large kick-ass battle, and indeed, as the title reveals, the last stand of the celackian king.

EDIT Sorry misread this and Sam, you got the answer from the NATO board didn't you? Oh well. Her'es your prize. A cookie!
