The Immaculate Youth

Visited the Incubation Center today. I am still baffled by the size of the thing. Two million incubators fill the halls of our genetic engineers, this number is to be increased to three million within the next five years, I am informed. Inside each incubator a little body, slowly growing to one day become another faithful servant of our Dominion. I look into these glass incubators, at the little bodies occupying them, and I'm filled with both excitment and horror, joy and sorrow. These little people, citizens of The Immaculate Youth, will never know what it is to have family. They will never know the joys of childhood. They have no time for innocense. The great majority of them will have graduated from secondary school by the age of 9. Those that go on to University will have obtained Doctorates or Master's Degrees by 12. If there were war, they would be sent to it, 90% of our rank-and-file are between the ages of 9 and 14. Most of them will have reached the pinnacle of their proffessions by age 25, and only public office will be left to them as a final achievement before they fade away and die out, like so many little flames, around 30. They will never marry. They will never know what it is to rear children, to raise them, to watch them grow. Their lives will be dedicated to the Dominion, and the Dominion will squeeze everything out of them before they finally expire. Such is the reality we have created. The Maiden had commanded it in her writings, and it is so. I, her favorite apprentice, have made her blueprints for a new man physical reality. "Only through youth may we achieve finality." she wrote. And so, through the miracles of genetics, we have denied our people the biological ability to grow old, and have given them all the tools they could ever need to achieve their potential in their youth. Now we must "achieve finality" through the youth, for they are all we have left. And as I, Darkstar, architect of the new order, stand before these little incubators, I wonder if this which we have done is good, or if it is monstrousity. And I grow uneasy, for I know that it is to late to ever make things the way they once were.
