Hello everyone,


it is time, after a World Cup off, the Eagle's Cup is back.

The Eagle's Cup is a 16 team tournament that has no bearing on the KPB points used in the World Cup standings.

Timewise, it is said to take place approxiamately 1 year before the next World Cup, which is World Cup 19. Thus you can RP it as trying to fine tune your team before the next World Cup.

The format:

Teams are placed into 4 groups of 4 from pots where each team plays each other two times. All matches are played in The Eagle's Nest, thus no home field advantage. The top two move on. If there is a tie between 1st and 2nd, Goal differential is used to determined who is the group 'winner' and who is second. If there is a tie between 2nd and 3rd, Win/loss record in the head to head matches will determine the tie. If tied after that, there will be a one game playoff. I hate scores determining who moves on and who doesn't, but that's just me.

MatchDay 1 traditionally occurs the day of the semifinals of WC 18, which I estimate is about 2 weeks away.

Aquiliana Falcons WC19 Roster

The Falcons are looking to get back up from their somewhat disappointing performance in WC18 and get back to the Finals. 4 years later, the roster stands virtually unchanged, and it is hoped that the players' experience will lead them farther than their last attempt.

GOALKEEPERS

^*30 - Melet Bælükas (30, Sciuntus) - Has become one of the best goalkeepers of all time. However, he still sometimes lets in a goal due to overaggressiveness.

1 - Calio Masticare (24, Viculus) - A goalkeeper who relies on size and athletic ability rather than skill to make spectacular saves. Therefore, he's not the best at positioning himself in the goal.

^12 - Lucilius Plango (28, Facundia) - Can't match up to the rest, but still plays well enough to truly earn a spot on the roster.

DEFENDERS

*2 - CB Ferlor Entia (25, Ducentis) - This young man truly excels at positioning, tackling, and clearance. He may lack some speed, but he can sneak in and score a goal or two if you don't keep an eye on him.

^*3 - CB Mendax Roriges (32, Farca City) - Very quick and agile, and exceedingly skilled at stopping opposing strikers' attacks. His endurance could prove to be crucial in an extra-time match.

*5 - LB Läo Häi (25, Ubertas) - Skilled in defending the cross, and usually doesn't allow winger penetration. He also often is able to set up a quick counterattack with a long ball.

*16 - RB Asinius Argentis (28, Altissima) - The weak man of this starting group, he lacks a lot of real defending ability, not to mention a left foot. However, he makes up for it with world-class sprinting speed, so if you beat him, he'll be right back on top of you immediately.

4 - CB Lanio Micolus (23, Sciuntus) - A very powerful tackler, he is feared around the LPA for his dangerous challenges and deep kicks. Weak on technique, but a very formidable defender nonetheless.

3 - RB Damián D'Alessandro (19, Nidola) - One of the core players who helped the U21 team into the semifinals of U21WC8, he's got great speed, talent, and ability. He only lacks match experience, and with the entire WC18 defending team returning, he couldn't quite make it to a starting role.

8 - LB Ariona Solia (24, Nova Malta) - A good quality near-world-class defender, but not quite good enough. This year's roster is just too strong.

MIDFIELDERS

*9 - LM Caledon Manigilus (22, Mazonomus) - Scored a few goals 4 years ago, and is now hungry for more opportunities in his second go-round. He's greatly motivated to get his team back into the Finals.

*11 - CM Rector Zeloptus (28, Farca United) - Is one of the best at dribbling through defenders, but also plays good defense. Was the lone bright spot of the team's failed 4-3-3 experiment 4 years ago.

*25 - RM Milona Consario (27, Nidola) - He has a great shot and cross, but lacks dribbling ability. However, he still scores a whole lot of goals, most of which are simply spectacular.

^21 - CF Maca DeSultinus (26, Sodala) - Has a good shot, and good passing ability, but lacks great ball control. Switched from forward to ease the bench pressure there, and turned out to be a great midfiedler as well.

18 - LM Noria (24, Ferax) - A good free kick taker, as well as all-around shooter. He scores and assists a whole lot, but sometimes breaks down defensively.

^14 - RM Aliosus Saluber (26, Sempundus) - Frustrated playing for the worst team in the country, he was finally able to lift them up to the middle of the division with his scoring and passing skills. Could be a key substitute in a close game.

^36 - CM Palo Valactus (27, Ubertas) - He shoots harder than anyone else, though his accuracy could be better. More often than not, the shot goes into the crowd, but when it's on net, no keeper can react quickly enough to save it.

^41 - CM Masis Gomadi (29, Incurtio United) - Has good speed and dribbling skills, but lacks a good shot and isn't a great defender. He needs a signature move that can give him more opportunities.

FORWARDS

*15 - CF Titus Grinniman (25, Jhanna City (STB)) - The first Aquilian to play in another country, he's got great shooting skills, as well as the unselfishness to set up another player. His coordination and agility are unmatched.

^*56 - RF Rämï Pumiliö (29, Nidola) - Has a beautiful left-footed shot that often bends much more than expected. Also has the ability to maneuver around defenders with ease.

**10 - RF Ronal Cuniculus (34, Mentarium) (Captain) - "The Rabbit" was simply the best out there. His speed and quickness allowed him to navigate around any defender, and he could place the ball wherever he wanted to in the goal. But now he's old.

^*24 - LF Inlusio Flagrantia (34, Volatilis) - If another forward gave up the ball to the defense, you could bet that he'd be racing over to get it back. His passion was great, and there's no question that he deserved to be a starter on this team, if not for the great talent around him. But now he's old.

^40 - RF Sactorio Conada (26, Farca United) - Unlucky to be playing in a time of such abundance of talent at the forward position. He was the leading scorer on his League-winning club, but lacks the assisting and free kick capabilities that would give him a starting spot.

30 Troy Perkins (Portland): At 26, Perkins is one of the more experienced goalkeepers in in international play. Has a solid lock on the starting job for as long as he wants it.
18 John Bartlett (Nicksia Knights): This 29 year old just signed with the Knights after he fell through the cracks of the recruitment system of the SFC. He starred for Sarzonia's "B" team in the AOCAF tournament, compiling an 0.88 goals against average in six group stage matches.
1 Mark Tanner (Portsmouth): Former mainstay on the Under 21 national team. Now that he’s 22, he’s the reserve keeper on the senior team.

DEFENDERS
2 Mike Coyle (Woodstock): Left back in the Wild's 3-5-2 alignment. Speedy defender who can make up for occasional lapses in positioning with sheer athleticism. Now 24, getting better with experience.
5 Corey Hemby (Internashionale - Starblaydia): Plays center back for Internashionale and is expected to step in for the retired Bryson Juergens. At 25, injects some youth into an aging position.
32 Emacio (Hallad Reavers - Starblaydia): Known as a tremendous offensive defender, signed with the Reavers after the Stars were eliminated from the World Cup. (24 years old)
35 Lance Alcina (Hallad): Plays right back for the Reavers. This 21 year old is a teammate of Emacio's so the two are familiar with each other.
14 William Jackson (Burlington Braves - minor league): Signed with the Braves after the nuclear destruction of Townshend. Provides good experience off the bench for the Stars. 31 years old.
2 Trevor Crenshaw (Woodstock Wild): The right fullback for the four time champion Wild has been a shocking omission from national team play in the past. With Bostwick coaching, this 26 year old is expected to star for the team.

MIDFIELDERS
21 Martin Overton (Richmond): Plays defensive midfield for Richmond, but can also join the attack in a pinch. Has played withdrawn forward at times when the club team was hit by injuries or suspensions. At 29 years old, takes over for the retiring Jeff Conley.
9 Darwin Russell: (Parkville F.C. - NEWI Cefn Druids):
Tremendous left-side player with a deadly accurate free kick from that side. Can be roughed up and taken out of his game. At 26 years old, is emerging as a star on the national side.
10 Bobby Convey (Woodstock): Easily the best playmaker in all of Sarzonia. Very experienced. Able to relate to all his teammates well. Frightening maturity at 24.
16 John Benmont (Portsmouth): Rugged right sided midfielder who has the skill of Convey or Russell and the toughness of former national teamer Conley. Adds a little more speed than former midfielder and current assistant coach Barry Owens had. 28 years old.
17 George Mitcham (Saugerties): Once known as Sarzonia's first foreign based player, now plays attacking midfield for the Snakes. Is playing like an all-star for the Snakes. This 29 year old scored a vital goal for the Stars in a previous World Cup qualifier.

12 Taylor Williams (Rochester): Plays right halfback for the Rage but can also play midfield. Not much pure speed, but tremendous quickness and great smarts. (31 years old)
37 "Dix" Porter (Portland): Just signed with the Timbers, is the heir apparent for the role as offensive playmaker. Spent a lot of time with Bobby Convey's dad to work on his skills. At 25 years old, may be playing for a spot on the senior national team.

22 Brian Wilson (Woodstock): Team captain. At 22, formerly the youngest player on the team, but has terrific skills for his age and great football awareness. His father is the national team's top assistant coach, so he often thinks like a coach on the pitch. Voted unanimously as team captain when Convey decided to step down from that role.
31 Barry Alphonso (Randolph Reavers): Can play either withdrawn forward or striker for his club team. Led the league with 22 goals last season and has led the league in goals scored two straight years. Set records for most goals in Joe Gibbs University's history as a four year starter. 27 years old.
32 Bruce Badger (Randolph): A supersub, Badger scored 13 goals, a league high for a player who was strictly a reserve on his club team in the SFC. Able to add some scoring punch in a pressure situation. Just turned 28.
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma): Now 21, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He figures to compete for playing time off the bench.
13 Anton Gregor (Daurmont, Isselmere-Nieland): Withdrawn forward who is trying to come back from an ACL injury. Trying to get back in match fitness and get his timing back with the senior national team after playing at the AOCAF tournament. Just turned 30 years old.

Kelonia Names First International Side

After their surprise entry into the Eagle's Cup IV, Kelonia has quickly put together a side full of the best talent from the top to the bottom of the Kelonian Leagues. KLFA Director of Football Merkat Abzimovich has been appointed as manager, with the legendary Josef Prazolka (the most decorated player in the league's history, still playing at lower-league Halujna Medjaka) as Head Coach. Prazolka has also been named in the full squad alongside other veterans such as goalkeeper Dmitrev Labko and a smattering of younger starlets, including the jewel in the crown of upcoming Kelonian footballers, Josef Miagkobrukhoi. Football fans all over the country are now looking forward to seeing their favourites stepping out on the world stage, yet most are realistic, not expecting their team to progress far against some of the more experienced international sides they may face. Most, however, believe this can only benefit Kelonian football as a whole.
