Dancing Penguin's Academy for Enhanced Humans looked like a castle with its three story central building and boys and girls dormitory towers to either side. Buses and cars drove in through the front gate, dropping off students. When the last of the transports left, the gate swung shut and guards took up patrol on the perimeter fence. The new term at DPAEH had begun.

Corby Black stood with a number of other students who had spent the summer at DPAEH watching the other students pour in. Those around him began to demonstrate their powers to try and gain respect. Corby, a confident Senior, only examined the crowd. He was search for any who stood out as possible candidates for becoming his raiders.

Emily Smith was a frightened Freshman within a surging crowd of chattering people. Nervous and not wanting to be noticed, she had brought her powers up. She saw peoples eyes slide over her, unable to focus on her. A loudspeaker boomed out:

All students will report to their dorms until called together for opening assembly.

Up ahead, the crowd parted: boys going left and girls going right. Emily looked down on the card she had been given:

Emily Smith
Girl's Dormitories
Floor Three
Room 242

Shrugging, she turned right and headed to her room.

A teenage at 5'11 with dark brown hair and eyes walked with the crowd, a pair of headphones over his ears and his nose buried in a book. If anyone got close enough to him they would hear Bruce Springsteen's American Skin (41 Shots). The teen was reading a copy of Todd Stones The Best Defense and very oblivious to the world around him.

Alex Hawke, nicknamed Tempest, weaved his way through the mass of people before reaching a bench to finish the chapter, he sat down and kept reading; when he did he placed in a plain blue bookmark and took a deep breath. What a good story, can't put it down.

Alex smiled and skipped over the next few tracks on his mini-disk player till he reached Backstreets. With piano introduction going through his ears, he headed for the boy's dorm.

<Getting of the buss and looking around the 6’2, 18 year old senior walked into a new life. Still struggling to control his powers, he marveled at the displays that showed around him. Fire, water, bubbles, all were flying around. Suddenly hearing “All students will report to their dorms until called together for opening assembly”. He looked down at his note card that told him where to go… >

Eoin, age 17 and standing at 6 feet even with the build of a boxer, leaned against the wall just outside of his dorm, room number 237. He was staring at people as they passed, trying to get a simple understanding of those around him. He grew to always be suspicious, alert, when around crowds, but being despised and sometimes hunted for being different can do that to a man. Yet, the rough exterior he put out was just one of the characteristics he had that made him hard to get close to. That and the nickname the "normal" authorities gave him, the Dark Knight, a name that didn't give off a good impression; but it stuck.

He looked at the staircase leading from the first floor and let out a chuckle as some students began showing off their abilities. He turned and entered his dorm, dropping his bag next to his bed as he sat down on the mattress. He pulled out his CD player and put in a Linkin Park: Meteora cd as he pulled out a drawing pad and went to work on his drawing of a demon....

Baslaj Foalc, a 17 year old 6'3" junior, got off the bus. He chuckled at the people showing off their abilities. He walked past them and examined the card he has been given earlier.

Walking up the stairs to the second floor. I noticed how many people knew each other… and how many people were utter fools… I thought “still, at least here I will fit in”. Opening the door to the second floor, and walking through it, I tried to find my room. Ok 201… 202… 214… 225… 226… 233… 236… whew that was a long walk… <opens the door> Hmm… empty, guess it is mine… <throws a small bag onto the bed, then takes of a big camping backpack>. I guess I’ll start unpacking. <Pulls out his laptop, and start playing “energy” (techno).>

Paul Savannah's second year at DPAEH. He sighed as a great crowd was pushing to get inside. He recognised some faces, but he had forgotten the names during his busy summer. Except for one face. His name was Darkfist and joined Earthtide and his raiders last year. Paul, AKA "The Ant", did not like the guy. He tried to avoid eye contact, but Darkfists eyes locked for a moment with Paul's. He shuddered and picked up his pace. Mainly because of Darkfist, but also because he didn't like all the new students showing off with fire.

He was in room 230 on the 2nd floor of the boy's dorm. He had found his room easily and settled in his new room. While unpacking, his thought dwellt on Darkfist. He muttered: "If it's up to me, there will be no raiders this year"

Mika Lidstrom stood in the courtyard of Dancing Penguins Academy for Enhanced Humans watching several students flaunt their powers. For some reason the display reminded her of the mating rituals of wild animals. She was decidedly unimpressed. Quickly growing bored with watching what she thought of as idiotic attempts at one-upmanship, she wandered to the closest building, leaned up against it, and cranked her mp3 player full volume, grinning as a Misfits song began playing. How appropriate.

Standing at only 5'1", the pale skinned, blonde girl had facial features that could have been described as cherubic. Could have, that is, if she didn't work so hard at making her clothing and make-up scream 'fallen angel' instead.

As the loudspeakers blared, the sound drowning out even the pounding music that she was listening, Mika eyebrows raised. "Not even a please," she muttered, opening her eyes and glancing at the gaurded walls. "What kind of place is this?" She continued leaning against the wall, watching the students file into the dorms. Only once the majority of the students had entered into the buildings did she stand upright, and executing a mock military salute, begin heading toward the girls' dorm.

"Room 242, this is it," Checking her card one last time, Emily pushed open the door and went inside. Throwing her stuff on one bed, she noticed the other one to be empty. "I wonder if I'll have a roommate."

Darkfist
Corby went to room 245, noticing many people had gotten to their rooms ahead of him. A few seemed to recognize him. Opening the door, he was greeted by the clatter of keys. His roommate was hunched over a computer, muttering something.

"Hey, Techie," The guy looked up.

"You're back, Darkfist," Then he returned to the computer.

"I suppose you're going to skip the opening assembly again this year." Corby shook his head, through they had been friends longer than either could remember, he would never understand Techie.

Greg "Techie" Johnson was a computer whiz with no equal. This had a lot to do with his power: telepathic communication with electronics.

"Not this year," Corby was surprised by Techie's swift answer, "I want know who he is."

"Who who is?"

"Our new principle. Everyone's really upset about him, but the penguins say his appointment was 'In response to certain events which transpired last year." With that, Techie turned to Corby, who was grinning.

Travis strode into the school's compound, noting the security that was evident about the place. Casting his eyes about, he watched with a keen eye the various individuals that roamed about on their own. Some felt the necessity to display their powers, others, like him did not. He studied each individual's clothing, their outward attitude and their eyes. Their eyes gave him the most information about them. It was said that a person's eyes were the windows to their soul. Yet, what many didn't realize was that it was also a mirror of their personalities...

Hearing the over-amped loudspeaker, Travis strode silently with his duffel bag in hand toward the boys dormitory. He pulled the room assignment card from his pocket, and read the room typed upon it:

Travis O'Neill
Boy's Dormitories
Floor Two
Room 232

(OOC: For some of you, you'll recognize the significance of the room number :P)

Opening the door to his room, he surveyed the interior. It was a typical dormitory, two beds, two desks, two dressers and a computer, furnished by the school for his use, as requested on his application. He dropped his bag on the bed by the window, glancing out the window at the fence before collapsing upon the bed. He was tired, having traveled over two thousand miles to attend this school.

He only hoped it was worth the trip...or someone would not be happy to see him...

Eoin put aside his drawing, which was actually coming along very well, and pulled out the days schedule. Nothing planned for today study wise.....His eyes skimmed down and stopped on an assembly. Hmpf, a welcoming assembly tonight? They better have some food, I'm starved, he thought.

He sat up on his bed and put away his cd player and listened to the sounds outside the door. There were still students moving about the hallways, either talking to old friends or lost and trying to find their rooms he guessed. He looked at the metal Timex he was wearing, still hours away from the assembly.....

A handsome teenager stood quietly and uneasily in front of the school's main entrance, gazing serenely at twin set of doors. Garbed in a traditional Chinese outfit, the teenager looked quite dashing. He was Zhong Yuan, heir to generations of swordsmiths and swordsmen. Although he felt that something was not right, Zhong Yuan was unable to pinpoint the source of his unease. With a sigh of resignation that helped to brush aside his nervousness, Zhong Yuan adjusted the slung laptop case and hoisted massive suitcase, walking forward and entering the building, as he thought quietly to himself. It must be a leftover tingling from that chemical accident... Nothing is wrong...

Glancing quickly down at his assignment slip, Zhong Yuan located the stairs and climbed up to the second floor, seeking room 231. With long strident steps that helped to hide his anxiety, Zhong Yuan located his room. With a small push, Zhong Yuan opened the door, revealing a typical dormitory, two beds, two desks, two dressers, and a telephone. Shaking his head, Zhong Yuan entered the room, dropping his massive suitcase at the foot of the closest bed to the window and plopped onto the bed. As the mattress squeaked, Zhong Yuan opened his laptop case, revealing a state-of-the art laptop. With a wry smile, Zhong Yuan turned the machine on...

He started watching the film, wondering who he would meet, how the year would go. And, if he could use his powers for any fun.

Travis slept soundly for about an hour, before waking peacefully and more relaxed. Yawning, he sat up, rubbed his eyes with one hand and looked at his watch.

Getting up, he moved over to the desk to turn on the state of the art computer. It whirred to life, and brought up the sign-in window. He typed in his ID number promptly recieved a "Welcome" message from the school. He read quickly over their words, only keeping in mind the important information. Apparently, there was going to be an orientation tonight, after dinner.

With a sigh, he stood, fixed his hair and made his way out of the dormitory, making his way back outside the building. He didn't know if he'd get in trouble for being out here, but he figure that he'd find out soon enough. He looked overhead as thunderclouds rumbled across the sky.

Travis grinned slightly, sensing the rain that packed the pregnant clouds. He breathed in deeply, savoring the fresh smell of the rain. Upon coincidence, the first drops began to fall, gravitating toward the earth. Travis simply stood there, closing his eyes and raising his face to the clouds. He could feel each drop as it impacted, then coursed its way down his body and finally dripping to the moist earth below.

At the moment, he felt completely at peace...

OOC: DP, Sheyrena has an amulet that she recieved in the Celadrin thread that gives her the ability of astral projection. She will have it on her, but she doesn't have to use it if you would rather she didn't. Just let me know. And I am going to be daring and room with Emily :)

IC: It was pouring rain as Sheyrena Rhys-Ane, a slim quiet sixteen-year-old with bright green eyes. She was nervous about starting at this new school, especially since she was a bit old to be a freshman.

But Liam had thought it was a good idea for her to be around kids her own age, and as he was the leader of the Celadrin clan, she had obeyed, much as it pained her to part with her friends. Especially Roman, the man who had become like an older brother to her.

Sheyrena pulled her Celadrin amulet out of her shirt and rubbed it a little before putting it away. Then she took a deep breath and walked into the front door of the girls' dormatories.

"Room 242, third floor," she whispered to herself. She made her way up the stairs and down the hall to the room. She got to the door and stopped. She put down the small bag containing all of her worldly belongings, closed her eyes and placed a hand on the smooth wood of the door.

There was another girl already in the room. Sheyrena could sense her through the door. She didn't want to pry, so she did not try to read the girl's thoughts, but she did sense her emotions. The girl was a bit nervous, but not hostile at all.

Sheyrena picked up her bag, composed herself and walked into the room. She tossed her bag onto the empty bed and walked over to the girl.

"Hi. I'm Sheyrena. I guess I'm your new roommate."

As Mika found her way to room 223 she noticed that there were only a few people left out in the hall, presumably greeting old friends. My, they do take orders seriously around here, she mused. She walked into her assigned dorm room, finding it still entirely vacant. "Cool. Wonder if this means I get the room to myself?" she grinned, throwing her bags on the bed nearest the outside wall. She stopped for a second to take in the spartan surroundings of the standard dorm room. Not so cool, she thought. She reached into her bags and pulled out the few decorative items that she had managed to back away - a couple of small black iron candle holders complete with black candles, and a poster featuring the skull logo of the band The Misfits. She placed these around the room. "Meh, a little better. I'll have to bug mom to get her to send me more stuff."

She started to pull out her laptop and connect it but then thought better, "I wonder if they even respect privacy around here?" she muttered, grimacing at the possibility of having to purge some of the more personal files she had stored, and deciding to put off that task, hoping to gain further information.

Sighing, Mika shifted her bags to the floor, flopped onto her bed and begin looking through the written information the school had provided her upon arrival, hoping to find out what time the dreaded opening assembly was set for.

Chuckling to himself he thought “should I play with lightning today…” hmm… his Laptop was getting low on batteries, and all that green grass was a little tall for his liking… Making a quick decision he came up to the window, and opened it. Putting his hands outside he noticed that a few students were walking about; he also saw one enjoying the rain, while others were running here and there. He noticed the guards keeping a watchful eye on everything, and realized that doing a prank on the first day of school, that has 10ft high walls and armed security guards, would probably not be the “brightest” idea. He had been working on a drawing since he first noticed the dark clouds; now, he simply concentrated on the scrap of paper in his hand and was carrying an umbrella. Figures it'd be raining the day I arrive... and figures I'd forget to pack an umbrella, to.
Ben Darith sighed. Ever since he had first learned to use his powers, he had looked upon rain as a severe inconvenience. Just as Paul intends to walk into the room of the cold Travis, or 'Waterboy' he shuddered Best to think of him as 'The Avenger', the speaker blurted out the message. Again indecision seized Paul "Erm....Travis... Are... err... Are you coming to the opening assembly too?"

Travis looked at the guy with a cold look that could have frozen him to the spot.

Finally, he broke the silence that lay between them. His voice was like a fire through the icy chasm that seemed to lay between them.

"Yeah. We've got to go anyway."

Travis locked his door and turned to the stairs, heading toward the auditorium, where he suspected the opening assembly would be.

When the announcements came blaring over the loudspeakers, Zhong Yuan twitched. With swift movements, Zhong Yuan closed his laptop and placed it carefully it the bag. With swift, fluid movements, Zhong Yuan stood and walked stridently out of the room, closing the door behind him. As his eyes darted hither and thither, he walked gracefully down the hall, ignoring the other students as his robes flowed through the air. With mammoth strides, Zhong Yuan walked down the stairs and headed towards the auditorium...

Fog appeared out of no where. Alex had a huge smile on his face as the fog filled the room.

He quietly snuck around Ben and into the hall, it was then the fog disappered. Alex laughed and walked down the hall. That felt good. He headed downstairs and towards the Assembly Hall.
Ben chuckled and headed for the assembly hall. It was nice to know his room mate had a good sense of humor...

Corby and Techie enterd the auditorium with everyone else. Rather than trying to find a seat, Corby mearly plopped down in the center row. As he went down, however, the darkness rose up to meet him, creating a large, black arm chair.

"You're such a showoff," Techie muttered as he wandered off to find a seat for himself. Watching him go, Corby noticed an increasing amount of students staring at the stage. He looked to the stage and grinned. Standing at the podium was a penguin clad in a cape, top hat, and monocule. In his wing he clutched a cane, which he was rapping against the podium to try and get everyone's attention.

As Emily entered the auditorium, she heard a tapping from the stage. When she looked up, she smiled. Her parents had told her about Ambassador Bogeyfeather. He was the penguin's representative to the UN before resent events had forced them to rethink their membership. He constantly fought to reduce regulations on humans and cut down on the Ethic Enforcers' numbers. The crowd was slow up ahead, aparently someone had thought it a good idea to set up a chair right in the middle of traffic...

All the kids made her really nervous. She wasn't used to people her own age.

Everything is so different here... she thought. I wonder if I'll ever fit in.

She finally reached the Assembly Hall. It was packed. She looked around for an empty seat and spotten one right next to Emily.

Finding the assembly hall was not a problem, getting over the shock of seeing a penguin wearing a cape, while holding a cane… well that was a slightly different matter. After a few second of open jaw staring, Alex decided to grab himself an open seat. Which conveniently enough was in the middle of the first row. Unfortunately for Alex, just as he was about to have a seat, some kid jumped into his spot. Seeing a cloud of red filling his vision Alex extended his hand to the kid who stole his seat, saying, “hi there, you seam to be quick on your feet…” as the other kid shook his hand Alex send a large electric pulse through his hand japing the other student, making him jump out of his seat and onto the floor. Smiling to himself and saying “Oh I guess you want me to sit here… thanks!” Alex sat down smiling all the while thinking … “this year will be fun…!”

Travis was among the last to walk into the auditorium, followed by the Ant. Almost immediately, he spied a few seats down the way. But there was a slight problem...

The arse who decided to be a prick and get in everyone's way with his little sh*t chair.

There was another student that was trying to be polite. It didn't seem to be working. Travis approached him, and pushed him aside lightly.

A cold voice sounded from behind Corby.

"Get out of my way."

No response.

Travis looked about, looking for a source. He finally spied it. The AC unit.

Suddenly, Corby was lifted by a surge of water, his chair underneath him, and lifted straight upwards. Travis reached into the water, and spread his hands aside, as if brushing a curtain aside. A door-like hole was opened.

Travis turned to the others waiting to get past Corby.

"Problem solved."

He stepped through and made his way to a seat, keeping his mind concentrated upon the water pedestal, as he waited for the others to pass.

And down the stairs they went. In the hall there was Corby. Everyone tried not to bother Corby, but Travis pushed forward.

Before Paul knew what was happening a jet of water was bursting out of the floor. His insticts forced his to jump away. Away form the water. He hated it. He knocked some people from their feet. "Sorry, sorry, sorry..." He looked around to see who he knocked down.

He looked back at Corby before turning back to the podium, he still couldn't believe a penguin was speaking, he had only seen them at the zoo waddling around, but this was out of this world.

He thought back to Corby and his rude behavior to Sheyrena. Several seconds later a small dark cloud appeared over Corby and rained a little. Travis cracked his neck, the sound clearly audible to the students sitting closest to him. His eyes grew furious. Sheyrena, who sat in front of him, turned around to face him. Her eyes widened as she watched his own liquify and become swirling whirlpools of dark blue water. Travis concentrated his anger, forming a shape elsewhere in the room.

He stood and faced Corby, his voice sending chills into many students' spines.

"Young man! Sit down!" cried the annoying penguin at the podium.

Travis ignored him. He addressed the dipstick.

"You know...I didn't attack you. I merely moved you aside. You will regret becoming the focus of my fury, fool! Oh...and you may want to turn around..."

Travis stared deathly at Corby. Even with over twenty five feet between the two, it seemed they were breathing into each other's face. He pointed with a finger behind Corby. Corby, after watching him for a brief moment turned around...

And suddenly recieve a powerful, packed punch delivered by a fist of water, similar to Corby's own. The effect was the same as a falling object hitting the surface of water. It was like being decked by a fist of concrete. Corby's ooof! was briefly heard as he flew backwards and crashed into the podium on the stage. The penguin standing there jumped out of the way, just in time.

All eyes turned to Travis. Many were beginning to wonder the same thing:

Are these two going to be like this all year?

Yet, they realized that with a bit of provoking, Travis would be a powerful one to answer to.

And some realized that they might not be able to take him on, and survive...

Travis remained standing, watching as Corby stood to face him, fury in his own eyes. Travis spoke,

"The score's settled...for now."

He sat down and beckoned for the penguin to start his announcments. He kept his eyes upon Corby.

One day, he's going to realize that the world doesn't play by HIS rules. It'll f*** him up and spit him out like the sh*thead he is...

OOC: Ok.......now i'm kinda at a loss as to which character to use. Perhaps I'll just stick to doing cameos, and my first cameo:

Arashi Hiyuuki
Age: 20
Sex: Male

Fighting Style: Hereditary "Courage" pyrokinetic powers + Clan Hiyuuki "Fist" Techniques + self-assembled martial arts

Description: Wears jeans, a red shirt, and black leather biker jacket, and sunglasses. Has shoulder-length brown hair, with a streak of white.

Strengths: His hereditary pyrokinetic powers are hotter than any other type of pyrokinesis recorded in history, and is especially powerful against enemies which have evil-type powers. Moreover, he is also immune to the typical pyrokinetic's weaknesses, as his Courage flame can burn through almost anything.

Weaknesses: Although he can take more damage than a normal human, he's no tank.

Fave Quote: "Heh heh heh. Can't stand the heat?"

Bio: Arashi Hiyuuki is the eldest child and only son of Takeshi Hiyuuki, the Sensei of the Hiyuuki dojo, and the future Heir of the Hiyuuki Clan. His powers stem from the hereditary "Courage" pyrokinetic powers of the Hiyuukis, and his flames are legendary throughout the world. In fact, the "Courage" flames he wields have far surpassed that of his father's, and he has already defeated Sensei Hiyuuki in battle. The Hiyuuki Clan has been the traditional rival of Clan Hikurai, and this rivalry has reached deadly proportions in the past, but nowadays Arashi has a relatively peaceful rivalry with Shinji Hikurai, the Heir of Caln Hikurai. Personally, Arashi is a gregarious and popular person, the star of the show. His opponents have described fighting against him in these words, "Facing Arashi is like looking into the eye of a firestorm. You'll be lucky to escape unscathed."

Role in this thread: Arashi is merely taking a vacation, as he is wont to do, and this school had him interested, so he kinda paid a visit to see what kind of denizens are in this school. He may pop in and out at times, and one of his purposes is to see whether the school would be suitable for his 18-year-old sister, Reiko Hiyuuki, and while he knows that a school like this would test her sister's skills, she might also not like the constraints inherent in here. Anyone may feel free to attempt to engage him, but be warned, Arashi is a Legend in his own right, not quite as powerful as 5CN's Lance Crusade but close, and he also has the mental strength to break all types of holds on him, mental or physical.

Well, that's it then. He's not gonna play too big a role in this story anyway, so i'm not too particularly concerned if he seems godmodded.

OOC: Ok, here comes my first IC post......

IC: "Fighting on the first day in school? What ill discipline. Even I didn't behave like this when I was in school, and goodness knows i was bad enough then."

Everyone in the hall turned to look at a figure leaning against the doorway. The figure who spoke was a young man of 20, with shoulder-length wavy brown hair marked by a streak of white, and a boyish face half-covered by sunglasses. He wore a black leather jacket left open, a red shirt visible underneath it, with jeans, and leather shoes. And everything about him bespoke power beyond anything anyone in the hall could imagine.

"You", the young man said, pointing his finger at Corby, "Punk, you want respect, that ain't the way to get it."

"Who're you?", Corby demanded, his anger rising in a flash of heat. "Don't you know who I am around here?"

"No, and I do not care, after all I'm not a part of this school. I'm just browsing around the place. All I know is, you're being a good-for-nothing punk, bullying the kids around here. And as for me......"

He adjusted his sunglasses, then went on,

"Remember this name well, punk, for it's the name you will be defeated by. I am Arashi Hiyuuki, Heir of the Hiyuuki Clan, the Clan of the Fire of Courage."

At this, he turned his right palm upward, and a tongue of crimson fire burst forth from his palm. By sight alone, it wasn't much to speak of, but a wave of emotion swept from him through the hall, jolting everyone with the sense of pure power. Those who were against Corby had their spirits lifted with an unexplained increase in Courage, while those allied with him shrunk back against Arashi's power, Corby himself included.

"Well, punk, you ready to face the big time?" Arashi asked, extinguishing his flame.

OOC: DP, Arashi is a Legend and a god-slayer, at the peak of his abilities, and in no way would he be defeated by mere students. Take note of that, for he can break any inferior attempt to diminish his power.

This is not good, Ambassador Bogeyfeather surveyed the students. A fight this early was an ill omen. Though the penguin did have to pat himself on the back for wisely allowing Arashi to attend the opening assembly. He waddled over to what had once been the podium and pulled out the microphone.

"Well, lets settle down folks. Hello, I am Ambassador Bogeyfeather. I would like to welcome all of our foreign students to the nation of Dancing Penguin as I welcome all of you to the new school year. There are a lot of changes this year. Due to last year's incidents, cameras will be recording everywhere starting tomorrow. Excluding restrooms and your rooms, of course. Also, as I'm sure you all recall, there was a rule last year concerning girls and boys not being allowed in each other's rooms. This rule has been lifted. There is still the strict 10:30 curfew, however. Breakfast will start at 7:00 each morning. Classes begin at 8:30 and run until 3:00, with a 12:00 to 12:30 lunch break. The rest of the time is yours, though I suggest you tend to your homework before running around with your friends. You'll find we take education very seriously here in Dancing Penguin."

"There are no classes on Sunday and breakfast begins at 8:00 and continues until lunch. As we value religious freedoms almost as much as we value education, tomorrow will be the day to sign up for transportation to any religious ceremonies you may wish to attend. There will be no homework assigned on Saturday, so Sunday is completely yours."

"However, the biggest change is your new principle, Mr. Samson." There was a collective gasp from all students who lived in Dancing Penguin. The muscular man with a scared face who stepped onto the stage was unmistakable. It was Thaddeus "Razorwire" Samson; the infamous hit man whose face had been plastered all over the news following his capture over the summer. The murmurs of surprise silenced as soon as he took the mic.

"As the penguin said, I'm Mr. Samson. Apparently the penguins felt I was the best one to take over this outfit and, if gets time off my sentence, I'm all for it. The last change this year is the reintroduction of the Tournament Of Skills. As you know, the tournament was stopped halfway through the first year after one participant died. This year, however we have such a wonderful nursing staff and you all seem so willing to fight..." He trailed off.

"Finally, it is currently 3:00. Dinner will be served at 5:00. You have two hours to do as you wish-"

Corby jumped out of his seat and rushed to the stage. "May I say something?" Mr. Samson handed Corby the mic. "Anyone interested in joining a team for the tournament should meet me at the old arena behind the school immediately following this assembly." Nodding to Mr. Samson, he handed back the mic.

"That is all, I will see you all at dinner."

He noticed but was not effected by the wave of annoyance. After all only the week minded are effected by such cheep tricks. And there were ways of dealing with fire…

However he was most interested in this tournament… “Tournament Of Skills” was it? The only question he had to worry about was what rules to play by. As well as who would be good enough to be on his team. Whispering to himself “well I might as well go and check out the old arena… as well as check up on the competition, and potential allies”.

Travis watched coldly as the young Corby announced the meeting at the arena. He scoffed silently.

He didn't give a damn about the tournament. One's skills were not for entertainment purposes, as he preferred to think. Rather, they were gifted to each of them for a purpose.

But then again...if he were to somehow rally his own group to rival the shithead's own, he would enjoy the challenge that would be given.

Travis stood and walked out of the auditorium, leaving the jabbering students behind. Just before he left, he turned back to the crowd.

He had made up his mind. And so, he took a deep breath and bellowed in a loud voice to the entire congregation:

"The rival team meets in the front courtyard. Get a spine or get out of line!"

He turned and left the auditorium, a slight smile upon his face. Oh yeah, he would enjoy this...

Description: 5 ft 6, lanky, usually wears hot pants and a halter-neck top, shoulder-length bob hair and green eyes. Normal at first glance, but when fighting, her normal-looking right arm mutates into a wanton mass of flesh with cybernetic implants all over the arm. This mutation is her Bionic Combat Unit, or BCU, the result of genetic engineering and cybernetic implantations.

Strengths: Extremely powerful BCU attacks, and very tricky moves.

Weaknesses: Is no tougher than the average teenage girl who has trained in martial arts, and while water would not short out her BCU, electric attacks would, if temporarily.

Fave Quote: "That wasn't very nice of you."

Bio: Sarah Ann Vandell is the daughter of the late Raven Vandell, the chief villain who appears in the thread "The Call For A New Age: Heroes Of The World Unite!" Prior to this, she had suffered from a rare autoimmune disease that was incurable.......until her father managed to research a cure, and embarked on an ultimately fruitless adventure as a villain to provide funding to make the cure for her. For the past two years, Sarah was placed in a stasis cell to stop her disease from progressing any further, and when Raven was defeated by the Legends of Atros, Raven entrusted Sarah, and his company Vandell Corporation to Arashi Hiyuuki, one of the Legends of Atros. A nation struck by her plight contributed to Sarah's welfare, and she finally received a cure for her disease. For the first time in two years, Sarah saw the sun.

However, the time spent in the stasis cell had its side effects on Sarah: the chemicals used in preserving her life had also altered her genes, and when she recovered, she discovered that her right arm would instantly mutate at times of great distress on her, turning into a great mass of flesh she could not control fully, exactly the same situation her father found himself in years ago. Sarah promptly solved this conundrum the way her father did: commission an operation to implant cybernetic technologies into her right arms, not only enabling her to control her arm fully, including mutating it at pure will, but also building weaponry into it similar to her father's a year ago. Now, Sarah looks like every normal teenage girl, but when it comes time for her to fight, her right arm would mutate, expanding into a great mass of flesh embedded with cyborg implants, and equipped with all sorts of weaponry from a Gattling gun to metal shields.

Today, Sarah Vandell inherits the Vandell Corporation from her presumed deceased father, but would only assume full control over the Corporation when she turns 18. Until then, Arashi Hiyuuki acts as her guardian, and maintains control over the Corporation for her. Arashi had made a promise to Raven that he would take care of his daughter, and it is because of this that Arashi has appeared in the DPAEH, finding a school suitable for her.

Sarah will appear in this thread in time, probably the next day after the opening ceremony.

Techie walked up next to Corby as they walked toward the exit.

"Nice speech, Darkfist. Sounded like you already knew the tournament was coming back, though."

"Yeah, a little hacking birdie told me." Techie grinned. Then, Travis made his speech. Techie looked over at Corby and instantly recognized the smug impression on his face.

"Bait?"

"Hook, line and sinker." A girl brushed by the pair and Corby realized it was the girl who had disappeared with the telekinetic at the beginning of the assembly. "I think I may have found my answer," he muttered to Techie before making his way through the crowd after her.

IC: Arashi merely took a seat, not even deigning to look at Corby for much longer. He observed the speeches, and also the environment of this place.

"Hmm......most interesting. This may be the right place for Sarah after all. Seems like a tough neighbourhood though.......not to worry about that, Sarah can take care of herself. Better warn her about that Corby kid though.........speaking of which, if that Corby punk wants to bully Sarah, he'll be in for a real surprise.......oh, the speeches are done already? Mika remained sitting in the backrow of the auditorium as the students began to file out, pretending to be asleep but listening to the whispers. She wondered how many of the students were going to be involved in this stupid 'tournament.'

The administration here puts a criminal in charge and then treats us like we are the criminals with their damned cameras, and all these jerks seem to be concerned about is fighting each other. Haven't they ever heard of 'divide and conquer'? I'm stuck with a bunch of trained circus animals she sneered to herself, and this 'dork-fist' and 'firehydrant boy' appear to be the worst of the lot. Freaking idiots. Ah well, maybe they will cause enough trouble to distract the zoo-keepers (who look like they belong in a zoo themselves).

Rolling her eyes she stood up and made her way to the front of the auditorium slowly, looking for the location of any cameras. She paused, as though hesitant, while listening to the conversation between the penguin and the arrogant but good looking not-quite a gentleman who had broken up the fight at the beginning of the assembly. Damn, no info there. He just wants to put someone into this zoo. Or maybe... maybe this Sarah would be a good person to get to know. I will have to look for her tomorrow. Now not to look conspicous.

As the Penguin appeared busy she approached the principal, Mr. Samson. "Uhm, excuse me... sir. Could you tell me if the rides into town are only available for those who have religious ceremonies that fall on Sundays or are religions with alternate holy days honored as well?"

Travis halted as he was headed to the courtyard.

The fucking bitch...this is exactly what he would have wanted.

No, Travis would no longer lead the rival team. He had seen many more important beings in the world, had dealt with more than this little boy had. He wouldn't give him the satisfaction of having Travis so easily guided like a blind donkey.

No fucking way.

Travis returned back to the auditorium, seeking out the principal (OOC: That is how it's spelled DP).

"Excuse me. First of all, I apologize for my behavior earlier, though I cannot say the same for the other fool. Second of all, please make it known to all that I no longer will lead the rival team in the tournament."

The penguin looked at him puzzlingly.

"Why have you changed your mind? The tournament is a grand one for any to participate in!"

Travis looked the penguin in the eye, "I don't play with mere children."

He left it at that as he turned and walked out of the auditorium.

Mr. Samson held out his enormous hand to Arashi. "Like he said, I'm Mr. Samson. Now, let's see about getting your kid registered." He turned to Mika, "Don't worry, the pass system will be discussed after dinner tonight. That, and the rules to the tournament." Then, he lead Arashi up to his office to register Sarah.

Arashi entered Mr. Samson's office and was visibly taken back. It was full of all sized statues of every kind of metal.

"Computer on. Register new student." He put his hand over the mic and spoke to Arashi, "You'll have to dictate her information to me. The computer only recognizes my voice." So, Arashi told Mr. Samson the information and, a few minutes later, Mr. Samson lead Arashi to the door. He handed him a couple sheet of paper.

Dis-Missed Mika thought sarcastically, standing stiffly at mock attention behind Mr. Samson's back. She walked toward the back of the auditorium and started to angrily kick at one of the seats, then thinking better of it, let her foot pass through the chair.

"F**k," she muttered to herself, scowling down at her leg. She began to wish she had never been born 'enhanced.' Especially as that had been the cause of her local government strongly 'recommending' that she be sent to this school - well, that and getting caught breaking just a few laws.
There has got to be a way to make this place tolerable.

She walked outside around the courtyard. Everywhere conversation was abuzz with talk of the silly tournament. More than a few times she heard the name Corby being whispered and linked to words like 'trouble-maker' and 'raiders.'

Why not, she shrugged to herself. Afterall, it was not like checking out one of the teams - and the type of students it attracted- was the same as agreeing to participate in the organized lunacy the school seemed to be pushing down the students' throats.

With a sardonic half grin, Mika headed behind the school towards the old arena, where a small group of her fellow inmates already seemed to be exchanging introductions.

"Hello."

She nodded to the boy called Alex or Tempest and grinned. Raising an eyebrow she turned toward Darkfist, "Politeness can be a very effective tactic, actually. Catches people off-guard, or so I've heard."

She watched the other boy introduce himself, and then burst out laughing when she saw the look on his face. Composing herself and affecting an over-the-top air of dignity she replied "No need to be so formal, good sir," before she once again began laughing.

Still grinning she looked at all three boys and introduced herself, "I'm Mika. Or Ghost."

"Hmm. No questions at all.", Arashi looked through the rules, then he saw something that caught his eye. This could be troublesome......

"No weaponry, huh?", he said to Samson. "That would be a problem. You see, Miss Vandell is in herself a weapon of mass destruction, as you might say, and it's impossible to remove her weaponry. She could adjust her weaponry to non-lethal means, of course, but that's about all she can do."

"Moreover, she's the heiress to a large conglomerate in my country, and as such she would insist on having at least two armed bodyguards around her", Arashi explained. "So what are we going to do about it?"

We could have the faculty watch out for her if she's truly worried and not just being a brat."

"Well, that sounds just fine", Arashi said in reply. "Very likely that Miss Vandell would not mind being free of her 'nosy gorillas', as she called them, for a while anyway. Well then, I guess that's all settled. I will bring Miss Vandell here tomorrow. Thank you for your assistance."

He stood up, shook hands with Samson, and turned to walk out. But at the door, he looked back.

"Mr Samson, I will not delude myself that Miss Sarah would not get herself into trouble, and get some battle scars in her stay here. In fact, that's why I'm enrolling her here. But", Arashi said in a menacing tone, "If you are unable, for any reason whatsoever, to preserve her life.........pass a message to everyone here, Mr Samson. Tell them all, that Arashi Hiyuuki swears that, the death of Sarah Ann Vandell, will be the death of everyone connected with the school."

She paused, flopping to the ground and muttered "Although I think the jerks running this damned prison camp are the ones who really need to learn that."

She sat awhile waiting, watching Alek's display and thinking about everything she had read about the nation she now found herself in. Her brow wrinkled. "Are you guys from this...place?" she asked. The Roman style arena was huge and it was obvious someone had cleaned it recently. The downward slopping seats surrounded a sandy battleground with a circular slab of stone in the middle. Before they entered this battleground, Corby flipped a switch and a domed roof closed over the arena.
