The Ministry of Defense has recently launched a series of satellites into space to replace the aged StarFire satellites that constitute the ShadowFire/Sky-Net Battlefield Management System. The new Valkyrie satellites will go online on at 9:00pm California Coastal Time (formerly Pacific).

The new and upgraded system will be operated and controlled by the United Central Command Forces of California and will patrol the skies and seas around the Californian Sovereign Democratic-Socialist Federation and serve as a Laser-Arrayed Early-Warning & Defense platform against inter-continental ballistic missiles and other orbital weaponry, to gather intelligence for the Sovereign Californian Armed Forces, conduct surveillance of the area around the nation and to alert the military to action against enemy combatants, and detect the positions of California's armed forces and the armed forces of all nations in the area allied and hostile.

Alexandra S. Matthews,
Californian Secretary of Defense.
