Island Lira

Lirs

Leshak Monstat paced around the room, his arms folded behind his back. It was a sure sign that the man was thinking, that is what he always did when he was thinking. His black shirt was rather loose on him, though the black jeans he wore fit him good. The small symbol above the heart on his shirt, a coiled snake, showed he was a member of the Lirs goverment.

The doors swung open and a teenage boy walked in, wearing the same uniform as Leshak. "Sir!" The boy snapped to attention "They are ready for you now... Are you sure this is what you want to do sir? We have --" He was cut off before he got to finish "Yes I'm sure, Lirs has been unknown for far to long" Leshak snapped at the boy. After straightening his uniform he walked out the doors. Taking a few right and left turns down the series of corridors he finnaly emerged at the room he was looking for. About a hundred people all dressed as he was stood at attention as he walked in.

"My friends!" He raised his hands to them, his grey eyes scanning over them all "I Know Lirs is a fledgling Nation, but the time of hiding is over! To strengthen our economy, I am going to open trade routes to the mainland!" The crowd cheered "This will not only get rid of the surpluss of supplies we have, but it will give us new supplies. So that we might become stronger! Strength is power, Power is Life!" The crowd cheered loudly at this. The boy walked up behind Leshak "Sir.... should we tell the civilians?" He whispered to him, Making him turn his head and whisper back "They will figure it out, they are just civilians anyway, they don't need to know everything"

In the next week Leshak made a press release, showing small clips of the Island Lira and the nation of Lirs. The people seemed happy, the economy strong. But what the cameras didn't see were the children gambling in casino's, the moderate levels of crime that went on day and night. The thousands of people in boot camp, the faces of the young children that were forced to go through military training for at least four years. They got the good, watered-down version of Lirs. But in time, if other nations visited, they would find out.
