OOC:Since I kind of cross-posted with TB, I am deleting the last part of my earlier post. Instead I'll post later today something about my landing in the Old City Square.
Maybe we should all just relax a bit. After moving too slow for a while, we are moving too fast now. Imagine Galdago'as face when he will be back online to see all this ended.

Yeah, slowly. Anyway. RevTerr, Tanah Burung and Ilek-Vaad have telegrams.

Also, perhaps someone can enlighten me about this but I always thought that an "all" setting in radio was generally limited to the domain of First Person Shooters. (Ie. just calling the Knootian infantry on the radio would be impossible.) ))

Jeroen saw one of the wild men storm at him with a… stick of some kind and he quickly fired his rifle. The first bullet seemed to have no effect on the on storming figure. Jeroen now saw the wild look in his eyes… despair. He fired again, and again, and again. Hitting the heart, the head, and the heart again. The man fell down in front of him, The flanking troops fired their guns into the distance, with short bursts now and then but it was clear that at least some of the abushers had managed to get away. Jeroen turned to overlook the roadside behind him where, next to their bikes, lay the still warm bodies of men and women in green uniforms. He overlooked the scene confused. There were ten… twenty casualties? He wasn’t sure.

“Back to your bikes!”, yelled one of the officers who has been brought up from the rear guard behind them. “We cannot stay here.”

Jeroen sat up in the small ditch next to the road, not moving. The officer sat beside him on one knee and put a hand on his shoulder. “Come on private. We must go on. You can’t stay here. Come on now.”
Jeroen nodded and the officer moved on. He got up slowly, and moved back to his bike. Here and there, others were moving bodies and bikes without owners to the roadside for recollection later.

The flanking advance north continued with heavier hearts.

Fighters poured in, heading north to guarantee local air superiority. With strange unexplained sonic booms… RevTerr fighters above BYMD and Galdagans below in the waters, the area was quickly becoming a hornet’s nest of forces of various nationalities and the various types of eurofighters only added to the confusion of radar blibs and little points in the morning sky.

((Launched them before in some post. Just declaring them ‘there’ at this point.))

“Your international friends and allies are here to help you to rid yourselves of the terrorists amongst you. Do not resist. This is not a fight against you or your government… resistance is futile and unnecessary. ”

One of the radio-broadcasting planes came around to turn south for a final run over Ukun Rasikan while heading back to Oglethorpe to refuel. Another similar aeroplane had already taken off from one of the southern bases…

Ukun Rasikan Maglev Station
--------------------------------------
Positioning himself behind a small opening, Richard adjusted the scope of his sniper rifle and let his vision cone glide along the walls of the building across the street. A dark small little man was sitting there with his very own rifle, looking at the station but not directly at him.

”Excellent”

About that time, another Maglev cart moved in and came to a halt in the station. This all happened with a lot of noise from the thing itself, and from army boots simultaneously touching the station. Having more troops around was good, but it probably also was a distraction for the local police forces trying to contain the Knootians.

When first boots hit the ground, he pressed the trigger, hitting the scoped out policeman right in the head. The only thing he could see from his position was an empty window. He rapidly adjusted his rifle three centimetres to the right and took another shot at another small dark little man sitting behind a window with a rifle...

The Knootian representative was first to arrive for the emergency session of the International Mediation Council. He did not expect everyone to be there, but that nobody had arrived yet ten minutes before the start of the meeting was a disturbing breach of the usual routine. Still, sat down in his usual chair and waited for the Vaadians, the Burungis or one of the other national representatives to arrive.

”I should have had a chat with that Vaadian fellow before this meeting. Ah, well, too late now anyway. Lets see how this one goes.”

He began to twiddle his thumbs while humming a popular song. His causal composure was only hiding how nervous he really was.

Beketov fiddled with her radio as Daniel kept guard. Three others passed by, advancing further on the co-presidency. The Slavic sergeant was annoyed: multiple voices talking at once in Dutch... and some other language. ”Drat”, she cursed. “Radio receiving is disrupted. People are talking all at once.” She cast a glance sideways.

“Private Willemsvaart, you go give cover to the mortar team. Remember to stay mobile after each firing position, don’t let them see you or get a fix on where you are. When you hear my voice on the comm, you give the entrance all you’ve got…”

As Daniel ran away to get to the mortar team, he heard his boss yelling into the radio to get some coordinates through.

… command this is Beketov, encountered heavy enemy resistance but have not engaged. Burungi forces in possession of modern weaponry. Need infantry supporting fire. Cover the building on the following coordinates...

Joop van der Meer, still in his helicopter, did hear the radio transmission by RevTerr forces on his radio but he was busily swinging though the street to get some distance before making another approach to the plaza...

An open spot along the Maglev
About 35 KM south of BYMD
----------------------------------------------

Nine heavy pulling carts in the rear of the Knootian column along the maglev pulled over to the side of a small open area after having raced to find a suitable location. Behind the carts rested big towed guns which were pointing skyward. After a lot of turning around of the pulling carts with coordinating officers waving their arms and giving directions, the Knootians finally got into a position where the artillery pointed in the direction of BYMD city.

While they were arguably less advanced then the monstrously sized self-propelled artillery units of the NS worlds most advanced militaries, the Knootian towed guns were still capable of hurling a wide variety of 150mm projectiles within a range of almost 40 kilometres with rocket-assist. The guns were praised by the defence industry as being capable of multiple simultaneous strikes, firing fire high explosive shells, smoke projectiles, communications jamming devices, remote sensors, illuminating projectiles, and even specialised guided projectiles. Nine of these old artillery units, all very capable of destroying people, buildings and armoured vehicles, were now pointed at the city…

Also Near the maglev lines,
BYMD Province
------------------------------------

The Weegies trained ears picked up what seemed like a sizzling sound in the distance, followed by thunderous clap rocking the city, where pillars of smoke were coming from the mountain as if Burung-Yang-Membuat-Dunia were built on a volcano that had suddenly gone active again.

Before he had time to interpred the sound or share thoughts on it, he heard the distinct sound of a helicopter approaching...

((Are *all* the internationals attacking the maglev near BYMD or are there more groups? And I presume they are attacking to the *north* of the city? Or are they attacking it on the south side? With Knootian forces advancing from the south, guarding there will be heavy, especially if you run into the entire armoured column. So I’ll respond with “near the maglev lines” post detailing the defences there depending on the exact location. Everything south of BYMD city is currently where an entire division is advancing. North of BYMD city comes a leg that is guarded primarily by air units (think: helicopters with some air-to ground loadout jets on call.) North of Ukun Rasikan, helicopter patrols would be there, but only very sporadic in this early part of the campaign where the KDF does not expect too much organised resistance.))

“What?! Is that confirmed? Yes. I will relay it immediately.”

A relay officer on the general staff put down the phone and hurried to Lieutenant-General Donner, in charge of BEFOR. The general, in an impeccable uniform, was pacing back and forth on a slightly higher platform watching a huge 2D projection on the back of the wall while playing absent-mindedly with his moustache. The relay officer rushed in.

“Sir there are reports of RevTerr forces in the co-presidency building. They are asking us to stand down… but the artillery…”

“…Abort it! Get artillery to abort the strike.”

-------------------------------------------------
Burung-Yang-Membuat-Dunia, Tanah Burung
-------------------------------------------------

While the above conversation was taking place, shells were already reigning down on and around the co-presidency building like drops or rain carried in a Dutch morning breeze.

Fortunately for those inside, the vast majority of these shells were just releasing a thick smoke that developed huge clouds that obscured the view of everyone in the area. But a few of the projectiles were live, high-explosive shells that exploded with fiery doom.

It was over half a minute after it had begun, and the sound of the reigning shells was replaced with the sound of fire. Most of the structure was still intact, but the smoke and the chaos prevented anyone to ascertain the damage or the casualties. Not that anyone would have the time to do so anyway…

Daniel was sitting in cover behind one of the other buildings, guiding the mortar team which was preparing its first set-up. Around him, the infantry moved in to storm the co-presidency building before the smoke was gone. Behind him, three black helicopters passed into the street to enter the plaza. He thought he heard a female voice with a Slavic accent yelling in his right ear…

OOC: the Lietuv deployment is not going to sit well with Uncle Istvan.......

Fire Control Tollan, Ilek-Vaad

The Corporal looked at his screen and turned toward the command, pressing the button that put his screen on one of the main 52" plasma screens

"Sir! RASTER Satellite shows Lietuv ships heading out, these have to be the ones they threatened to deploy to Tanah Burung!"

Command General Ring leaned forward watching the Lietuv vessels head through the Haven Straits.

"Get me Uncle Istvan, deploy Tactical Group Namroth Vedic from Coventry, have them shadow the Lietuv's, they have to pass right by Coventry to head to Tanah Burung, if that's where they are headed give them a tail!"

****

Naval Guard Command Coventry, Coventry, Ilek-Vaad

Coventry, Eastern port of Ilek-Vaad is home to 4 Naval Guard Tactical Groups, one of them the Namroth Vedic, had been prepared and put on high alert in case more naval assets moved to challenge the Sir Willaim Issem in Tanah Burung.

Admiral El'Arren Connagh-Connacht looked livid as she stepped into Namroth Vedic Fire Control.

"Ensign, bring Tollan's Satellites online" she paused looking at the Lietuv fleet. She picked up her chair and hurled it at the plasma screen, smashing it, the pieces falling on the control consoles, the Fire Control staff scattered.

"Helm! Get us under way at full speed, intercept the Lietuv fleet, maintain radio silence." she paused and muttered to herelf "Noldor kinslayers!"

Admiral Connagh-Connacht is a rarity in Ilek-Vaad , an elf, a Bendith elf, a dark elf that had never seen Valinor or seen the light of the trees. Like most of her kind she hated the Noldor, for many reasons.Techs put her chair back into place, and began repairing the damage, she resumed her seat.

" Elven empresses using men like toys in their ignorant wars! I'll send their toys to hell!"

Few Vaadians had ever seen elves and most of crew simply assumed she was unhinged, a quality Supreme Naval Commander Itxaad seemed to prize in his Admirals..............with that the Tactical Group was underway to catch the Lietuv fleet.

Revenge Battleship Tetzcatlipoca

Istvan paused in organizing his men as Staff Seargent Assad received and relayed Adan's report on the Lietuv deployment. He had previously listened to the Minister of Foreign Affairs assure him that the Knootians were willing to submit to mediation and to work with him. He couldn't help but laugh!

"This is how they want to work with me!? Call in more of their lapdogs!?" He paused and turned to his men "Lads, change of plans. One, the Rumbiak Brigade is now off limits, as is everyone but the lying ass Knootians and their allies. Two, I want no Knootian prisoners, I want their bodies mutilated beyond any possibility of identification, I want NO prisoners, I want them all dead and their equipment ruined."

He locked his gauntlets on.

"Looks like the Knootians have picked shotgun negotiation, good, my speciality. Alright lads, two hours and we hit them! Someone call Mr. Kanaan and tell him Jonathon was right, the Knootians are just playing for time.......and they just fecking ran out."

"HUS!!Hus!!" His Red Jaguar shout as he moves back amongst them to give them a final check.

Meanwhile above in Tetzcatlipoca Fire Control, Staff Seargent Assad let the Knootian Hail go on for about ten minutes before answering.

"Lieutenant-General Donner, this is Staff Seargent Mirai Assad, First Red Jaguar Command. To what do I owe the pleasure of this call?"

Mirai has been with Uncle Istvan for nearly twelve years, she knew exactly what Uncle Istvan wanted out of any talks with the Knootians, and she knew how to get it.

Vaadian Embassy, Ikun Rasikan

Alec patted Sutomo's shoulder

"Don't you spare one man for this embassy, you have your work cut out for you." He jerked his thumb towards the front gate "Anyone that wants in here will have to deal with our doorman, and I'd wager him against five-hundred Knootians."

He paused as he heard more shots and explosions

"Just make sure we have a scout or two here for when and if Uncle Istvan arrives. I haven't heard any official word, but I doubt seriously if he'd tell me anyhow. Who knows what he's up to, but it won't be a tea party."

Outside Colonel Erdogan gazed over the compund yard. The fence was now ringed on the inside with trenches and sandbags. His Red Jaguar were laying against their wall, on their guns, unmoving and nearly invisible with their eactive camoflage coats. He gazed upwards and got a 'thumbs up' from one of the snipers on the roof.

He paused and knocked out his pipe against the gate as he heard shots and explosions in the distance. He calmly put his pipe away and picked up his FN-HAR, cradling it in his arm, caressing the handle, fingering the trigger. He grinned, the Ixpei he had taken earlier made him drool, he felt numb and detached, and eager to kill.

"Soon, soon." he whispered soothingly to his firearm.

IMC Headquarters Marshall Island

Jonathon Tocatl was about to leave for the emergency meeting, about ten minutes early, when his phone rang, interruptions didn't improve his mood, and his mood was never good.

"This is Tocatl, what is it?"

Thirty minutes later he walked into the meeting chambers, he shot a glance at the Knootian representative as he took his seat. It was not a friendly glance. The Knootian was fairly certain that if Mr. Tocatl were armed, he would most likely be dead.

The taciturn Tolteca man, Jonathon Tocatl, sat and glowered at the Knootian, waiting for the others to arrive.

All ooc....

From an earlier post of mine:

So, the Weegie and Bovine people all wanted to blow up the maglev? Good, so did she, and it was nice to know that the foreign fighters were not going to be as squeamish as her own people. "It's agreed then. We're taking out the maglev line north of BYMD City. Victory to the Internationals! I suggest the jungle trails, then a fast dash across the rice terraces by local trails to the line."

So a small force attacking the line north of BYMD, but still within the province, where i figured the defences can't be that intense yet. Yes, that means the city is going to be cut off and entirely at Knootian mercy. So much for the Dubrovnik of Tanah Burung! The UN historical sites people are going to be hopping mad, not that this should bother the Knootian military a great deal.

Knoot, you can level that palace to the ground if you like, i just wanted to get a shot away at your planes befvore they vanished. At any rate, your forces certainly control the area with small guerilla bands in the jungles to cause occasional troubles for them.

Liet is a day or so behind I-V on the deployment, as the deployment was only started after the Knootian attack (boycott thread). Liet, fyi there is just one airport that can handle jets, in Tiga Burung. I have no idea who'll be in control of that airfield when you arrive, except that it's unlikely to be me!

OK, enough. IC post later.

First of all, I'm sorry for delaying my answer for so long. I've been asigned to help student get into their rooms (the school year is about to start) and all went crazy around here.
Short answers to your TG, Knoot:
What I posted last time was basically happening during the bombardment. Of course, there will be revterran deaths. I was waiting for TB assesment of the damages (since I have troopers inside and on the buildings sorrounding the Square). I figured that it would be really future tech for the comanding officers to have direct feed to every troupers life signs, so that's why Marius (in this case) has no ideea who's alive and who's not.
I am NOT for an all-out war. This is why there is that second message, to stall and prevent it.
As I mentioned earlier, there are ships in all the costal city. Carriers are in Ukun Rasikan, Tiga Burung, est of Loro Sae and east of BYMD, on interception course (you mentioned earlier that Sirthill of Fenor, for instance, is heading for BYMD, so there are ships east of BYMD to intercept it.)
Coastal bombardment is something we left out of the game, since all that Maglev line would be gone real soon. But your artillery would be spotted. The ships in BYMD might fire artilery shells on your artilery, but (yes, you are right, you should have been informed about it) I did not come prepared for a land fight, so they might be ineficient.
I'll find out if artillery shells fired from tens of kilometers away do not apear on standard AWACS scanners. The whole thing with evacuating the Square is based on that, and I will change the first lines of the post if I was proven wrong.
As for jet(t)ers fighting along eurofighters, I'll be serious and say that they would not survive encounter in mid air. The jeters are using the jet-pacs for tactical advantage (like atacking from air, jumping from building to building and stuff). They are not designed to withstand missile impact, fly supersonic or jump on your planes and kill your pilots with the standard Combat knife.

This is something prepared late last week, but I wasn't expecting so much RL trouble and I got overwhelmed. It was supposed to be a TG to Knossos and TB, but it's damn long. I'll present in details the jeters functionality when they get RP involved (for instance, how do you fire a missile from your arm), but for know this is what I had in mind.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Flyers are the primary units of revterran defenses, either on external conflicts or for internal emergencies. There are actually two types of revterran flyers, with jet-packs (jeters) and helipacks (roters, which instead of having thrusters, carry helicopter blade above their shoulders). The lasts are used mainly for paramedic insertions, where it is not advisable to burn everything around your landing spot. The following is about the jeters
The jet-pack they carry is mainly a container for an explosive mix of gases, under high-pressures. These gases are released as thrust through the adjustable nozzles. The jeter sits in a harness containing these thrusters at the back and a control unit in the front. There are two main trappings passing above the shoulders, converging on the chest where is the Comand Box and then diverging again between the legs of the jeter.
The outfit is made by the same heat-proof material used by the people who collect lava samples. However, because that material won't resist to high-speeds, everything is reinforced with Kevlar. The material is extended as a tarp between the arms and the legs, so, when arms extended, the jeter does look like a bat with jet pack. This tarp is designed more to steer then to actually fly with it, acting more like an airbrake. On the chest, there is the Command and Control Box. The CCB is actually extended bellow the trappings, to the shoulders and up to the helmet, and it's the processing unit of the combat suit. On the jeter's head is something that resembles a motorcyclist helmet, containing the air-supply, the HUD and the Vocal Processor.
Weapons: On the feet there are flares and/or chaffs, things to be thrown at the incoming missiles. These (let's call them) decoys have a limited flight time, so the jeters are trained to look the incoming missile "in the eyes", throw the decoy when they think it's time and then direct the thrusters to the ground, diving. Since a jeter is not a mach flyer, usually when the Helmet HUD display "incoming missile", they start throwing. There is a multipurpose belt, with two grenades, a minimum medical-stuff, a sidearm and some extra ammo. On the belt there is the holster for the two main weapons. On the left, there is a launcher. Either a Spike missile, either the grenade/shell launcher. On the right a rifle, either automatic or sniper rifle.
While having those missiles, the jeters are slowed down. Usually, they are deployed with them, but if, after landing, they discover that there is no aerial threat, the missiles are disposed of.
About the missile:
The Revterran Spike is using the AMRAAM technology. The missile is one meter long. Starting from the nose, it's the AMRAAM detectors. The explosive it's actually the fuel tank (which contains high-pressure explosive gases). These gases are providing the thrust and they are the main explosive elements of the missile. Although it's capable of medium range travel, the missile is used as a short-range missile, because its explosive power is falling with the flight time. The main idea is for the target to be force to stop (in this case, crush) rather than to be exploded in mid-air, but in the short-range area, the Spike can blow up a plane.

The jeters do not look like the flying guys you see flying in "Command and Conquer: Red Alert". The heat the thrusters are firing is too much to be "played with" without proper equipment, so the jeters are covered in that fire-proof (and, indirectly, bullet-proof) combat clothing. They have only basic sensors (except for special jeters who do not have "heavy weapons" but sensors), and they are usually deployed in areas with aerial AWACS support.

Most of the jeters deployed in BYMD do carry a Spike. Those leaping forward to get sniper position don't have them. Also the five squad leaders (and Marius) do not carry them, as they have communications and tactical equipment. There are different jeters who don't carry Spikes, for different reasons. But at least half of them where due to land on the buildings, plus those from the aerial support. The jeters around the Ukun Rasikan Maglev Station have bazookas or explosive shells launchers (as there is air support from Ukun Rasikan harbor and they where summoned in haste).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ok, it's time for the reality check:
The basic idea isn't new. There are working prototypes for what I call jeters and roters even now. What's from the near future is the casing in which that mix of gases is set (and that's not s.f. either, the thing exists, but it's too expensive to be put on a regular soldier).
I saw on Discovery Channel people walking on molten lava to collect samples. So the outfit exists. I've chosen Kevlar as reinforcement because, frankly, it's a material we all know and love (instead of "a mixture of chemical compounds to give strength and flexibility").
About the tools: on the legs there are pockets (2-3, I guess). Those decoys are not designed to fly a mile to meet a rocket (even though it's possible, if you have the technology required for a jet-set, but let's not over-react:), just to blow it -and depending on the RP, it will work or not). The communication devices are similar to any PDA from today. Since this post is something assembled in a hurry, I cannot detail on the nature of the sensors, as I need time to read something about their types, sizes and weights.

About the RL AMRAAM technology, AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles:
The AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range, Air-to-Air Missile is a new generation air-to-air missile, developed as the result of an agreement between the United States and other NATO countries.
The AMRAAM has an all-weather, beyond-visual-range capability. The missile is faster, smaller, and lighter, and has improved capabilities against low-altitude targets. It also incorporates an active radar in conjunction with an inertial reference unit and micro-computer system, which makes the missile less dependent upon the fire-control system of the aircraft. Once the missile closes in on the target, its active radar guides it to intercept. This feature, called "fire and forget", frees the pilot from the need to continuously illuminate the missile's target with a radar lock, enabling the pilot to aim and fire several missiles simultaneously at multiple targets and perform evasive maneuvers while the missiles guide themselves to the targets.
Power Plant: High performance, directed rocket motor

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I know these jeters are more than you've bargained for. IV is definitely future tech, but, as I understand, this is not the kind of "future war" TB and Knoot thought they'll have. I am more than willing to "tweak" those jeters in order to make them more "realistically correct". If you have suggestions concerning my jeters and their relation with the law of physics, please post them or TG them.
There are also TG sent to knoot and TB.

OOC: Sorry about the delay too. I've been very busy lately and that got combined with a strong flu that left me "out of combat".
As for the Rev-Terran technology, personally, I'm ok with it. I trust that the advantage won't be abused or anything.
And I certainly don't mind if you call the duque "tasty". I think he's used to it at this point. :b

"Yes, I'm worried about the helicopters too, I hope they don't bring us serious trouble"
But the duque's worried looks were replaced with a smile upon seeing the weegie drinks-turned-into-explosives.
"Those will be really helpful. We also have these two mortars." He pointed to two long, dusty mortars that looked more like old water pipes than like military weapons. "They are quite old, really, but will serve to shock those imperialist pigs enough."

The duque then proceeded to exchange some words in spanish with another of his fellow countrymen. A group of about 12 bovines gathered their weapons and formed around them.
The duque looked to the Weegie and Burungi generals with a smile:
"We're ready when you are, pals"

"We shall fly to BYMD to crush those invaders", Nahuel assured as he climed into the large, reformed cockpit.
"Thank you very much for your oil and your Burungi hospitality, friend", He exclaimed as the motors of the pucarás roared and gained life.
And so, the five sturdy planes (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/Pucara1.jpg) took off, heading torwards the city of BYMD.

As they flew, Nahuel used the radio to answer to a message from RevTerr.
"RevTerran Tactical Room. We accept your offer and thank you for it. We shall aid in the evacuation of the city. The coordinates of your carriers have been successfully received."

The duque's personal representative, Civic Starcow, had to interrupt a most fruitful afternoon of book-writing to attend to the IMC's emergency meeting.
It was a pity, only a chapter and a half were missing for her to finish her first novel, her first intrusion into the world of fictional writing. Would "The Lady of the Black Rose" be a best-seller? Only time would tell.
But now she had work to do.

Some minutes later she was entering the meeting room. She nodded respectfully to the Knootian and Vaadian and sat on his place. This war was starting to make her sick, really sick.

I'll ask a mod to have the OOC bits of this thread split off. I'm just bumping this thing prematurely because I'll have time to post on sunday or maybe saturday evening.

OOC post in response to RevTerr. (Part of what is to be moved)

TB sortof assesed damages. Do you have enough information now?
You said you'd find out if artillery shells fired from tens of kilometers away apear on standard AWACS scanners. Any results yet?

I asked around with the military buffs on IRC. Yamatto, Thelas and Artitsa say that you cannot spot artillery like that with AWACS. However, your Eurofighters might be able to spot them if they happen to be nearby when they are fire. I'm going to write a semi-hit for now with confusion as to where it is coming from. The easiest way would be forward observers, but you did not have those. For now, I'll recognise my artillery being located
I'll be accepting the jet-packs as part of story-driven RP etc provided they are just, well, jumppacks. (To make it modern-techish.) Ie. they are on the ground/near the ground a significant amount of the time. (To prevent invisible and invulnerable men from the skies-effect) Thanks for the explanations.

EDIT: I intended to post IC too today, and am about halfway with responding to all of your posts. Its a lot of work but I think I'll manage a full reply tomorrow. :)
