Drum Corps International
Welcome to Drum Corps International, NationStates edition. Drum Corps International is an organization that runs the summer competitions of a league of drum corps. A drum corps is like a marching band that consists of valved brass, percussion, and visual ensembles only. Shows are complex and exciting and some as long as 11 1/2 minutes. Young adults from 14 to 21 (and sometimes 22) can compete in what are known as Junior Corps (Divisions I-III depending on size) and above that, anyone can participate in a Senior Corps. Here's a quick run down on some drum corps basics:
Division Sizes
Division I - Up to 135 members; follow an exclusive tour schedule; Div I directors serve on the DCI board of directors
Division II - Up to 135 members; participate in regional and local events and have a loose competition schedule
Division III - Up to 60 members; participate mostly in local or close-to-home competitions; very lose competition schedule

Tenor Drums (Toms, Quads, Quints, Sextets)

So, where does NS come in?
Well, welcome to DCI, NS style. Here, everyone who wants to have a corps in NS DCI, the following things are needed:
1. A corps name
2. A corps logo (how about 200x200 as a good size?)
3. A corps home location
4. A corps division (member number)
5. A corps show/song list for the 2005 NS DCI season (actual competitive [rather than just fun] system in the works)
6. A corps uniform breakdown or picture
7. A corps staff list
8. A corps camp schedule (for out-of-nation participants and IC fun)
9. Corps sponsers (ex: Instruments)
10. Years in operation
Along with that, we need a nation other than myself (because it would be more fun) to be willing to host DCI World Championships for the 2005 season. Also (and I will be included in this), we need other nations to host competitions for the Summer Music Games competitions that lead up to finals.
If you have any questions regarding DCI or what it is, feel free to PM me.
