Starblaydia
17-10-2004, 17:48
World Cup 18 Qualifiers Squad Announced
Better than a Quarter-Final in Eauz/Bedistan? You Betcha!

Starblaydia line-up for their Fourth attempt at the World Cup Qualifiers, now ranked 21st in the World after a sterling performance in getting to the World Cup 17 Quarter-Finals. They're still Dark Horses, but getting lighter with every tournament. Between them this group of twenty-three men have scored 110 international goals, with Simeone Di Bradini the all-time leader on 24.

Goalkeepers
1 Rodriguez Da Silva, GK, 32, Iskara Daii (A)
Notes: Still the best-ever Goalie in Starblaydia's History, Da Silva will be hoping for another good tournament
12 Markus Cragg, GK, 25, Basian Valley (B)
Notes: Continues to wait for a starting position in the National Team, Cragg will jump at any chance to progess
19 Gavin Thornley, GK, 22, Jinal Cove FC (V Declasse)
Notes: Under-rated as he doesn't play in Starblaydia, Thornley is another solid choice between the sticks

Denfenders
2 Ceri Salisbury, R/CB, 29, Iskara Daii (A)
Notes: The Free-kick specialist keeps his starting position in the new-look formation.
3 Paul Nicholson, CB, 27, Jhanna United (B)
Notes: The best out-and-out Centre-Back in the country, Nicholson is as solid as they come
5 Jean-Pierre Durand, SW, 23, Iskara Daii (A)
Notes: His classy Sweeper skills have blossomed at the Daii and he's first-choice for Starblaydia
13 Lucas Palmer, RB, 26, Parkville FC (NCD)
Notes: Missing out yet again to Salisbury, Palmer will not want to have to wait too much longer
14 Paulo Bachchan, C/LB, 19, Jhanna City (B)
Notes: A great young defender, Bachchan is on the way up
21 Spike Martin, CB, 30, Jhanna United (B)
Notes: Former Captain of Starblaydia, Martin's experiences will serve the team well

Midfielders
4 Roberto Di Bradini, R/DM/B, 24, PARANOiA UNiTED (D2R)
Notes: Brought in to make a five-man midfield, the Younger Di Bradini will inspire a nation
6 Ki-Jana Carter, DM, 31, Iskara Daii (A)
Notes: Still hanging on in there, Ki will take one last chance to prove that it really is 'his house'
7 J.J. Stark, RM, 29, Vimesbairn United (CS)
Notes: Still scampering down the right-hand touchline at 29, Stark is another man in his third World Cup
8 Tetsuo Naoki, C/AM, 20, Floral FC (Bedi)
Notes: Incredible AOCAF and U21 performances have catapulted him into the limelight and the Starting XI
11 Michael Hawthorne, LM, 26, Corinthian Spirits (A)
Notes: He was on the left in World Cup 17 as there was no-one else. Yet again he's still the best man for the job.
15 Mikael Tissot, A/RM, 27, Basian Valley (B)
Notes: Loses out on a starting place for the second Cup in a row, he's still a useful substitute
16 Daniel Scott, DM, 25, Vecchio Victors (A)
Notes: Unlucky to be playing in a time of such Denfensive-Midfield greats, Scott will be the worthy backup to Ki and Robb
17 Giannis Berisha, AM/SC, 26, Articala Inlet (V Declasse)
Notes: Still putting away the goals for Articala, Giannis will be ready to come of the bench and bag a few.
22 Jerome Montefalcon, D/CM, 20, Floral FC (Bedi)
Notes: Surely a future partner for Roberto Di Bradini in the heart of a Starblaydi midfield, this Under-21 Captain will be biding his time

Forwards
9 Eomer Hall, SC, 27, Hallad Reavers (A)
Notes: Joint-Second on the all-time scorers list, Hall is still an underrated Striker by most pundits. The towering players is the perfect combination for 'SDB'
10 Simeone Di Bradini (Captain), SC, 31, Alan City (TBF)
Notes: Given the Captain's armband for this World Cup, Starblaydia's most famous and expensive player ever will surely add to his record haul of 24 International Goals
18 Ahmed Ol-wairain, SC, 33, Vecchio Victors (A)
Notes: Oldest Player in the Squad, Ahmed is a worthy Super-sub and scorer of Starblaydia's first ever World Cup Finals goal
20 Karl Robertson, SC, 30, Tuncastle Rovers (A)
Notes: A striking shortage has seen Karl Promoted back to the team for this world cup
23 Jakkinho, SC, 22, Darwin Springs FC (Bedi)
Notes: Still showing his inexperience on the international scene, Jakkinho is the future for Starblaydia

Somalialand announces the world cup qualifier squad

By Jamici Nurreye

After anticipated world qualifier squad, The federation has announced somalialand's world cup team, that is if they qualify

the world cup annoncement put a major shock after the SFF(Somalialnd Football Federation) has taken out or subtituded some anticipated players,
for beginners Mr Jama Mureya has been put out and replaced with mr Nurr muse, mr muse comes from the Mogidishu F.C which has been going through the roof in their season this year, The SFF has also replaced a failed star and has put him in the subtitude line, mr Rumse Rumeye has been a big flop in the BoF. He had no reason in being at the Bof.

Also Mohamed gaddi who was injured in the Bof is anticipated to come back and replace Qamase ahmed who has proved him self in the Bof, qamase ahmed was playing good and better than anyone has anticipated.

The subs themselves have also been shuffled, Sumaye samsame who has been in the subtitude field for the most of the Bof has been replaced with Khallid bin walid who is one of the rising stars in the Muduq F.C, one of the major reason for replacing mr sumaye samsame was that he was out of shape and was not going to be in perfect shape.

Somalialand is not bragging as it did in the Bof due to te more matured team and coach who is now three times better than he was in the Bof due to his team the mogdishu F.C going up and winning the Somalialand Cup and the Going to the semi-finals in the African Federation cup.

Team FMJPhoenix cuts team to 18 for World Cup Qualifiers
By Allen Newhouse

Vanguard, FMJPhoenix: Coach Wash announced to the nation the downsized team for World Cup Qualifying play. In order to have the required 18 players on the roster, the team had to cut 4 players.

"It was a tough decision to leave some of these boys off, they played hard in the Baptism of Fire. They are definetly still great players. I would be willing to have them play for me anytime." Coach Wash told reporters today.

Goalkeepers:
#40 Adam Larouse - Only allowed 14 goals all last season
#98 Powell Lamar - Allowed 24 goals during the season and scored 2 from the box

Defenders:
#36 Va Qui - Fast and strong. Has excelent passing skills
#14 Bobby Bash - Bast slide tackle in the game. Period
#52 Tra Miranda - Kickboxes also. Caused 17 injuries due to his kicks
#23 Michael Bo - Tenacious chase. Does not get shook by fancy dribblers
#00 Wei Zeng - All around player, but prefers to play defense

Midfielders:
#75 Devin McBall - Fastest player on the team. Can catch anyone
#35 Marty Slocker - Lead the league last season with 63 assists
#90 Carlos Santos - Second in league with 58 assists
#55 Falon Flan - Recover from MCL tear to score 12 goals and 10 assists in 12 games last season
#14 - Quinten Bell - Shifty moves let him get open shots from almost anywhere

Attackers:
#1 Jorge Mendel - MVP with 76 goals and has some of the best moves ever seen *Captin*
#24 Mike Nolan - RotY with 51 goals and 28 assists. Solid star can only get better
#2 Estaban Zues - Second in league with 69 goals. Good moves on the field
#42 Mariano Rodriquez - Unequivalented leadership. Solid even while getting older
#13 Alex Rivera - Had 42 goals and 41 assists last season. Great awareness

The players left off were Marvin Choi, Playa Beho, Scottie Pip, and Bryant Gordon. This team is still a threat to anyone trying to play against them and will be a challenge to all.

"We are ready to prove people that out 3-1 in the BoF is for real. That we are a good team and can challenge for the Cup!" Captian Jorge Mendel said at the press conference.

Aquiliana Falcons WC18 Roster

After the Falcons' shocking run to the WC17 Quarterfinals, the team returns somewhat changed. Some of the older players are missing, or on the bench. And many of the substitutes have been replaced by players who played well for their club this past season. But no matter what the roster looks like, the world knows that this team won't go down without a fight.

Coaching Staff:

Head Coach: Coach Ed
Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach: Coach Rob
Trainer: Coach Jeff

The Roster:

GOALKEEPERS

30 - Melet Bælükas (26, Sciuntus) - As promised 4 years ago, he has really developed into a world-class keeper. Though he still sometimes lets in a goal due to overaggressiveness, he's the most solid overall in the country right now.

1 - Stocus Marmoreus (32, Prospicores) - The 6'5" keeper uses his massive wingspan to get to many balls that he wouln't be able to reach because of his high center of gravity. He has great agility and can reach the top corner from just over the halfway point of the goal.

12 - Lucilius Plango (24, Facundia) - Playing the role that Bælükas did 4 years ago, he's mostly here for training purposes, but he can certainly hold his own at this level.

DEFENDERS

2 - CB Ferlor Entia (21, Ducentis) - This young man truly excels at positioning, tackling, and clearance. He may lack some speed, but he can sneak in and score a goal or two if you don't keep an eye on him.

3 - CB Mendax Roriges (24, Farca City) - Very quick and agile, and exceedingly skilled at stopping opposing strikers' attacks. His endurance could prove to be crucial in an extra-time match.

5 - LB Läo Häi (21, Ubertas) - Skilled in defending the cross, and usually doesn't allow winger penetartion. He also often is able to set up a quick counterattack with a long ball.

16 - RB Asinius Argentis (24, Altissima) - The weak man of this starting group, he lacks a lot of real defending ability, not to mention a left foot. However, he makes up for it with world-class sprinting speed, so if you beat him, he'll be right back on top of you immediately.

6 - SW Ancora (34, Mentarium) - A very powerful tackler, he is feared around the League for his dangerous challenges and deep kicks. Has lost a step or two over the past 4 years.

13 - RB Ditras Marcos (32, Nova Malta) - Helped his club incredibly rebound from 18th to 11th in the second half of the season by stopping many of the best forwards from scoring. However, he lacks endurance and is unable to start in such high-intensity games as the World Cup.

MIDFIELDERS

9 - LM Caledon Manigilus (18, Mazonomus) - The wunderkind has shown great potential, so much so that the national team managers, usually averse to allowing under-21 players on the team, looked the other way this time.

11 - CM Rector Zeloptus (24, Farca United) - Is one of the best at dribbling through defenders, but also plays good defense. He was one of the main reasons why the team was able to switch formations this year.

25 - RM Milona Consario (23, Nidola) - Didn't really blossom until 2 years ago, when he suddenly came out of nowhere and scored 13 goals for Nidola. He has a great shot and cross, but lacks dribbling ability.

7 - LM Tomus Flögel (35, Sciuntus) - Scored some great goals 4 years ago, but age finally has caught up with him. But his lower fitness doesn't change the fact that he's still the first PK shooter.

14 - RM Aliosus Saluber (22, Sempundus) - Frustrated playing for the worst team in the country, he was finally able to lift them up to the middle of the division with his scoring and passing skills. Could be a key substitute in a close game.

36 - CM Palo Valactus (23, Ubertas) - He shoots harder than anyone else, though his accuracy could be better. More often than not, the shot goes into the crowd, but when it's on net, no keeper can react quickly enough to save it.

41 - CM Masis Gomadi (25, Incurtio United) - Has good speed and dribbling skills, but lacks a good shot and isn't a great defender. He needs a signature move that can give him more opportunities.

FORWARDS

10 - RF Ronal Cuniculus (30, Mentarium) (Captain) - "The Rabbit" is simply the best out there. His speed and quickness allow him to navigate around any defender, and he can place the ball wherever he wants to in the goal.

15 - CF Titus Grinniman (21, Jhanna City (SB)) - The first Aquilian to play in another country, he's got great shooting skills, as well as the unselfishness to set up another player. His coordination and agility are unmatched.

56 - RF Rämï Pumiliö (25, Nidola) - Has a beautiful left-footed shot that often bends much more than expected. Also has the ability to maneuver around defenders with ease.

21 - CF Maca DeSultinus (22, Sodala) - Has a good shot, and good passing ability, but lacks the great ball control that would give him the start. If not for the logjam at forward, he would definitely get lots of playing time late in the game.

24 - LF Inlusio Flagrantia (30, Volatilis) - If another forward gives up the ball to the defense, you can bet that he'll be racing over to get it back. His passion is great, and there's no question that he deserves to be a starter on this team, if not for the great talent around him.

40 - RF Sactorio Conada (22, Farca United) - Unlucky to be playing in a time of such abundance of talent at the forward position. He was the leading scorer on his League-winning club, but lacks the assisting and free kick capabilities that would give him a starting spot.

Sarzonia
18-10-2004, 02:53
Interim Coach Dave Wilson announced the Sarzonian national team's roster for the 18th World Cup.

ROSTER (starters in bold)
GOALKEEPERS
30 Troy Perkins (Portland): At 25, Perkins is one of the more experienced goalkeepers in in international play. Has a solid lock on the starting job for as long as he wants it.
1 Mark Tanner (Portsmouth): Former mainstay on the Under 21 national team. Now that he’s 21, he’s the reserve keeper on the senior team.

DEFENDERS
2 Mike Coyle (Woodstock): Left back in the Wild's 4-4-2 alignment. Speedy defender who can make up for occasional lapses in positioning with sheer athleticism. Now 24, getting better with experience.
5 Corey Hemby (Internashionale - Starblaydia): Plays center back for Internashionale and is expected to step in for the retired Bryson Juergens. At 25, injects some youth into an aging position.
32 Emacio (Hallad Reavers - Starblaydia): Known as a tremendous offensive defender, signed with the Reavers after the Stars were eliminated from the World Cup. (24 years old)
35 Lance Alcina (Hallad): Plays right back for the Reavers. This 21 year old is a teammate of Emacio's so the two are familiar with each other.
14 William Jackson (Burlington Braves - minor league): Signed with the Braves after the nuclear destruction of Townshend. Provides good experience off the bench for the Stars. 31 years old.
18 Taylor Williams (Rochester): Plays right halfback for the Rage. Not much pure speed, but tremendous quickness and great smarts. (31 years old)

MIDFIELDERS
21 Martin Overton (Richmond): Plays defensive midfield for Richmond, but can also join the attack in a pinch. Has played withdrawn forward at times when the club team was hit by injuries or suspensions. At 29 years old, takes over for the retiring Jeff Conley.
9 Darwin Russell: (Parkville F.C. - NEWI Cefn Druids):
Tremendous left-side player with a deadly accurate free kick from that side. Can be roughed up and taken out of his game. At 26 years old, is emerging as a star on the national side.
10 Bobby Convey (Woodstock): Easily the best playmaker in all of Sarzonia. Very experienced. Able to relate to all his teammates well. Frightening maturity at 24.
16 John Benmont (Portsmouth): Rugged right sided midfielder who has the skill of Convey or Russell and the toughness of former national teamer Conley. Adds a little more speed than former midfielder and current assistant coach Barry Owens had. 28 years old.
17 George Mitcham (Saugerties): Once known as Sarzonia's first foreign based player, now plays attacking midfield for the Snakes. Is playing like an all-star for the Snakes. This 29 year old scored a vital goal for the Stars in a previous World Cup qualifier.
33 Bronson Adelsen (Rochester): New addition to the national team, this 29 year old adds a rugged defensive presence to the team.

FORWARDS
22 Brian Wilson (Woodstock): Team captain. At 22, formerly the youngest player on the team, but has terrific skills for his age and great football awareness. His father is the national team's top assistant coach, so he often thinks like a coach on the pitch. Voted unanimously as team captain when Convey decided to step down from that role.
31 Barry Alphonso (Randolph Reavers): Can play either withdrawn forward or striker for his club team. Led the league with 22 goals last season and has led the league in goals scored two straight years. Set records for most goals in Joe Gibbs University's history as a four year starter. 27 years old.
32 Bruce Badger (Randolph): A supersub, Badger scored 13 goals, a league high for a player who was strictly a reserve on his club team in the SFC. Able to add some scoring punch in a pressure situation. Just turned 28.
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma): Now 21, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He figures to compete for playing time off the bench.

True, I realised that a few days ago, but have been too busy to deal with it at the moment. I don't think at this moment in time, it is uber-neissary to have roster links done properly, and if you really have to see a roster, there is only 2 pages at the moment, so it shouldn't take long to look at...

Announcement - Ministry of Athletics, Olympics, and Alcoholic Beverages

The Minister of Athlethics, Olympics, and Alcoholic Beverages being indisposed (loose translation - hung over), The Sub-Deputy Alternate Executive Secretary of the Second Assistant Vice Ministers' Intern announces the official Snub Nose 38 National Side, "The Hooligans", for the Qualifying Matches of World Cup XVIII. Please note that the normal starting eleven are indicated by an asterisk (*).

Keepers -
Elmer Fudd*
Popeye

Defenders -
Sylvester Cat* (Thufferin' Thuckatath)
Tweety Bird* (yes, we do anticipate some "mix-ups" in the defense)
Donald Duck*
Daisy Duck*
L'il Lulu
L'il Abner
Archie
Jughead

Midfielders -
Porky Pig*
Petunia Pig*
Foghorn Leghorn* (Margaret has been warned!)
Mickey Mouse*
Minnie Mouse
Goofy
Barney Rubble
Fred Flintstone

Forwards -
Bugs Bunny*
Speedy Gonzalez*
Either Tweedle-Dee, or Tweedle-Dum...whoever shows up
Betty (we're not sure if this is the "Betty" from Riverdale High, or the "Betty" from Bedrock. We don't think it really matters - we needed another forward badly. We got one...badly)

(say - we just scanned a few of the rosters posted by other nations - and we realize we should have included the club our players usually play for. then, we realized that our players don't usually play. makes it more difficult. to list their club sides, i mean. when they don't have one. so, we made up a couple of names. stick 'em in there where ever you like. the names of some club sides that don't exist in snub nose 38 are:

The East End Kids
The Katzenjammer Kids
The Billy-the-Kids
The Dead End Kids
The Cisco Kids (they were a friend of mine...(insert musical notes here))
Some other Group of Kids)

GACK!!! Management!

Yeah, we're gonna have some of that, too...

(oh, no! team captain! um...that would be...er...how about...lessee...say, here's what we'll do. just before each match, we'll hide the captains arm band somewhere in the locker room. the starting eleven can have like, you know, an easter egg hunt - only, without the easter eggs, 'cause you know how it starts to smell when one of those doesn't get found for days, or weeks...anywho, whichever of 'em finds it first gets to be Captain-For-A-Day! yeah, that'll work...)

Nova Britannicus

The Novan Daily News
Distrubted in Tuncastle, Widdrington, Montepool, Hernsworth, Foxchester and Beverington
World Cup Squad Selected

By Rupert Smythe, our man for all the World Cup News

With just one change from the Baptism of Fire, John McDonald s back from injury so replaces the out of form Jonathan Lyon, Nova Britannicus will look up at the world for a seemingly-lofty rank of 82nd.

This is higher, in fact, than neighbouring nation and now global challenger Starblaydia's debut rank at World Cup 15, which was 115. In those Eighteen Matches Starblaydai managed 6 Wins 6 Draws and 6 Loses. What odds for a similar type of record for Nova Britannicus? 4-5-5 I hear you cry? Well, probably not. Nova Britannicus are likely to be one of the whipping boys of their group. That's not to say the whippee becomes the whipper, on occasion.

Remember, this team came third at the Baptism of Fire, the third-best debut team in the World. Nova Britannius will be wanting some really big teams in their group, either that or some totally awful ones so we can try and qualify from the very beginning. Anyone from Atlantian Oceania would be fantastic. Starblaydia, Vilita, Newi Cefn Druids, Druida, Crystilakere or Sarzonia would all make excellent opponents. All of whom, though, would probably kick the Britannicans into the middle of next week. Except maybe Druida.

Other teams from the Baptism of Fire will be looked out for too, most notably Fmjphoenix and The Latin Union, both of whom beat the Navy-Blues, along with Baptism-Champions Maserrat.

Now, in a totally non-sneaky peak, we present the Shirt, Team Sheet and Formation Listings for Nova Britannicus, which is rather similar to their Baptism Of Fire squad.

Big Pimento
22-10-2004, 20:57
Big Pimento Roster

Formation: 5-3-2
Manager: Wally Wonkstein

Starters
GK - Pedro Madhavapeddi
Big goalkeeper who pairs size with exceptional positioning to make most of his saves. His reflexes aren’t the greatest, but he’s a big target to shoot around and great at breaking up crosses in the box.
DF – Juha Saampiilyonen
Speedy left wing back who loves to jump in the rush. Saampiilyonen’s best attributes are his pace, accurate long balls and good tackling ability. His love for joining in on the offence sometimes leaves him out of position defensively though.
DF – Franco Caballero
Caballero is the type of player whom you drool about when you think about his potential, then get pissed off when you remember how he’s failed to realize it. Caballero’s one on one defending skills are world class. However, his conditioning is sub-par, and he appears to be lost on some plays. Caballero is young, so he could still become a fantastic defender, but he doesn’t seem to have the head on his shoulders to do so. Nonetheless, that much raw skill was too much to turn down for Wally Wonkstein.
DF - Joni Kallio
Kallio’s a wily old fart whose been added for experience and strong positional play. Though never the biggest nor fastest defender, Kallio’s defensive instincts were off the charts, always being able to find himself in a position to make a play on the ball. He’s sort of the anti-Cabellero. It’ll be interesting to see whether Kallio’s dwindling physical assets have digressed too much to be effective at this level.
DF - Valeri Sharapov
At 6’5”, Sharapov is the biggest player on this team outside of Madhavapeddi. A tough defender known for his stiff challenges, Sharapov is hard to beat but often finds himself in card trouble. He’s got great mobility for a big man and superb heading ability, and if he can keep his emotions in check and the reckless challenges to a minimum, he could prove to be the team’s best defender.
DF - Jalapeno Lewis (C)
At 34, this will likely be Lewis’ last chance to make the World Cup. Time has taken away his pace, but he’s remains a plucky defender with great football sense. Lewis’ tackling, heading and clearing are all very good, and though he can still cover well, he may get burned a few times with his lack of speed.
MF – Selecao
Selecao made a name for himself last qualification session for his brilliant runs up the left flank. Selecao has all the offensive tools you’d want with a midfielder, great first touch, brilliant vision paired with deft passing, good speed and a shot that finds the back of the net often. However, Selecao’s acclaim isn’t as high as it should be since many observers dislike his total disregard towards playing defense.
MF - Pierre Poivron
Another aging veteran who will be looking to make this last venture to the Cup a successful one, Poivron balances Selecao’s wide-open style with stellar defensive play. He’s a crisp passer, superb tackler and controls the ball very well. His speed may not be what it used to be, but he can still play a high level for ninety minutes. The big knock on Poivron has always been his inability to score goals.
MF – Omore Ngogadi
A talented right midfielder whose stock has really risen since the last World Cup, Ngogadi’s stamina and work ethic off the pitch is second to none. He’s responsible defensively, a solid passer and will find the back of the net on a few occasions. Ngogadi is perhaps the best-rounded of all of Big Pimento’s midfielders.
FW – Bong-Jong Il
A very speedy player who is extremely shifty when controlling the ball, Jong-Il has great breakaway speed, exceptional quickness and a shot, though not all that powerful, which is very accurate. The pint sized Jong-Il does tend to disappear when the game gets chippy.
FW - Boris Valentine
Valentine is the closest thing to a star striker when it comes to Big Pimento. Not really exceptional in any area of play, but strong in all of them, Valentine’s greatest asset is his uncanny knack to be at the right place in the right time to score goals. Valentine is a quick player, though he doesn’t have the stunning breakaway speed of a Jong-Il.

Substitutes:
GK - Iain Thompson
DF – Terrance Whitaker
DF – John von Bonbon
MF – Fred Levesque
MF – Jorki Lyashenko
FW - Cookie St. Jacques

Rumors have it that a good chunk of the highly secret U21 team could be revealed soon for the U21 WC in Total 'n Utter Insanity, and that that team would be the source of the majority of the replacements. Things are looking of for the Stars, who look to face old rivals Vilita in this qualifying. We'll have daily scoring updates as they happen.

Bedistan Lions - World Cup XVIII Roster

Everyone from World Cup XVII will be returning this time with the exception of substitute goalkeeper Ed Simpson. This will be the first Cup in recent memory in which the prevailing setup for the Bedistani team is not a 4-4-2, but rather an offensive 3-4-3.

Of note in the squad are six players that certainly don't sound like they're Bedistani. With one exception, they all hail from former World Cup participant nations that have since been erased from the map. The players in question have all been Bedistani citizens for at least four years. These are Errinundrian paulinem, Warnocks Wizards' Izhgakh the Merciless, Ravenspirian Yoshimo Takahara, Gilmeecian Fred Gilster, and Giant Zucchini native Pook, who plays alongside Zonk at Yuba United. Also on the squad is Esteban Cannon, nephew of the long-missing former Brazillican player Joao Cannon. Now that all uniform numbers from 1 to 99 have been used by the Lions, they are finally being recycled with these newcomers wearing numbers 1 through 7. The number 3 is permanently retired in honor of forward Alicia Johnson, who played for the Lions in World Cup V.

Meet the Fearless Farmers!
The Melmond National Team

uniforms: green and white

Manager David Bixler Age: 50 Sex: Male
Once merely the interim manager for the Cup of Harmony side which failed to qualify for World Cup 16, David Bixler won the respect of the players and the hearts of the fans for the inspiration he puts in his side. Melmond was dominant in that Cup of Harmony, only losing it in penalty kicks. Last time around, Melmond qualified for their first World Cup, and came away with a third place finish and an indelible mark on NationStates World Cup history. Bixler uses the classic Coostatlwak 4-4-2, but a more physical, defensive version of it.

Starters (All Clubs in Melmond Unless Specified)

Goalkeeper #21 Snhp Xtfuinxm Age: 35 Sex: Male Club: Wzkknfs Hnyd Pinks
Xtfuinxm finally found the dominant form that he had on the club circuit and asserted himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world if not the best. At this age, what has eroded from his body is more than made up by his big match experience and instincts.

Defender #7 Jonsi Torrini (captain) Age: 39 Sex: Male Club: Acosta Browns
A starter on the original Melmond National Team at 19, twenty years later, Torrini is certainly a different player. However, his body hasn’t changed at all as he is still in that great youthful shape. He is the master corner kick and leader of the backline.

Defender #26 Veronica Dean Age: 23 Sex: Female Club: Likh’gokh K’druz’ba (Cockbill Street)
This furious flurry of a defender earned the respect of Manager David Bixler with great play when put in the match. With Sergio Ortiz aging but still playing, Dean was put in the starting lineup to add some more youth and physicality to the Melmond defence.

Defender #24 Charles Unne Age: 25 Sex: Male Club: Farela City (Kaze Progressa)
Charles Unne, like Xtfuinxm, finally had his skill shine through on the international level. Charles Unne is seen as Melmond’s best all-around defender and the heir to Torrini’s position as leader.

Defender #22 Trav Strachan Age: 31 Sex: Male Club: Chedar-Edma (Kaze Progressa)
Trav Strachan is still a very strong shut down marker. He always has the assignment of making sure he cancels out the opponent’s top goalscorer. How the yin of Torrini and Unne and the yang of Dean and Strachan interact will certainly be interesting at the least.

Midfielder #30 Peeko Noodleschlausen Age: 29 Sex: Male Club: Faasen Oranges
This guy always seems to be overlooked by most people some how. He plays very well for a Faasen Oranges side that unfortunately stays rather mediocre. He was a shoo-in to start last year, but Manager David Bixler decided to work with Lee Grays teammates Smith and Antunez. Noodleschlausen should shine now that he has the chance to.

Midfielder #29 Alfred Smith Age: 26 Sex: Male Club: Sinarri Devils (Kaze Progressa)
Alfred Smith was originally named a starter for the Melmond National Team as a complement to his club teammate Cristina Antunez. However, he really came into his own as a key playmaker as well as a goalscorer at times.

Midfielder #8 Critandi Unne Age: 37 Sex: Genderqueer Club: Unne Yellows
Many people wonder why Critandi Unne is still playing with hir age and hir legacy well intact. Well, s/he just loves to play the game still and this eternal optimist is hoping for a first place in this World Cup.

Midfielder #35 Jake Cormier Age: 23 Sex: Male Club: O’Connor Greens
Jake Cormier was sensational whenever he was put in the match, making the most clutch plays and keeping Melmond very competitive in seemingly dire situations. This is a manager’s son with pure talent. An international superstar in the making.

Forward #31 Ojfssnsj Xrnym Age: 33 Sex: Female Club: Wzkknfs Hnyd Pinks
Xrnym finally has gotten the respect she deserves not only as a top player in Melmond, but a top striker in the world. Xrnym has proven that she can strike anywhere with any method given the opportunity.

Forward #32 Tim Remans Age: 24 Sex: Male Club: Bezrukova Turquoises
This flamboyant striker gave opposing defences headaches and nightmares as he danced around his markers and utterly came out of nowhere to make clever deflections for goals.

Reserves

Goalkeeper #38 Fgtgt Age: 17 Sex: Male Club: Goad Golds
Another one of the big goalkeepers from the Wzkknf region in Melmond. This country boy is massive, but his instincts are questionable. An amazing project.

Defender #3 Sergio Ortiz Age: 40 Sex: Male Club: Unne Yellows
An original starter on the first ever Melmond National Team, Ortiz still has the hunger and talent to play but realizes that he is past his prime.

Midfielder #33 Pauline Hulme Age: 19 Sex: Female Club: Wzkknfs Hnyd Pinks
Hulme has gained some much needed experience in the last go around. She will likely be a starter next year.

Forward #34 Lave Serna Age: 24 Sex: Genderqueer Club: Melmond City Blues
Lave Serna improved immensely over the past four years and may as well be one of the best young strikers in the world. However, he is currently overshadowed by Xrnym and Remans.

Midfielder #39 Belle Bete Age: 21 Sex: Female Club: Goad Golds
Belle Bete is said to be a combination of two Melmond defenders, Nina Steen and Paul “Edgy” Shields. She is very beautiful yet very ferocious. A defensive midfielder.

Defender #36 Gwen Dumont Age: 32 Sex: Female Club: Aldi Reds
Gwen Dumont was underutilized in her first go-around with the national team as Manager David Bixler usually went with Veronica Dean for some defensive punch. She should be the first choice this time around.

Defender #18 Kestrel Bluesummers Age: 40 Sex: Female Club: Acosta Browns
A reserve for this side since the inaugural Melmond National Team, Bluesummers can still add the speed and catch the opponent off guard with a good long ball. She is taking Bixler’s cue and is being prepared to be an assistant manager.

Midfielder #40 Scott St. Clair Age: 30 Sex: Male Club: Lee Grays
Originally it was thought that Brazillican Rafiki Torres would apply for Melmondian citizenship, but he saw that Brazillico was still alive and held out hope for a Chili Bats return. St. Clair reminds people of David Bixler in his playing days.

Forward #37 Jamie Prior Age: 25 Sex: Female Club: Faasen Oranges
Prior played excellently whenever put in the match by David Bixler, but hasn’t made the improvement needed to be on the level of Melmond’s other three strikers.
