Joshua was running as fast as he could. For once in his life he was scared so badly that he could only run. As he ran the shadow of what was chasing him grew larger. Suddenly it bolted foreward a sword in it's hands and landed on Joshua the blade slidding through his body with a sickly crunching sound. He gasped out and screamed in pain. Slowly he fell foreward letting the blade slide out of his back. Joshua began once agian to try and run but the wound was to great. The thing let out a ungodly laugh that made Joshua try to cover his ears. Before he could even move his hands the thing had two knives pinning them to the ground. Joshua's screams of pain intensified as he knew his death was at hand. He cried out for help but felt his voice give out on him. He tried to call out to anyone mentaly but knew it was to late. The thing's sword came down on his heart slicing through it and leaving Joshua to scream out in pain one last time before he finaly fell.
Else where his screams of torment could be heard by many who tried to cover there ears but still felt the pain.

As the sword slide through his heart Joshua felt his physical ties to his body become severed. He blinked several times and as he did the last time the surroundings changed to a forest. "Great I'm dead again....but why arn't I in my hell?" he asked himself as he looked around slowly. "You're trapped in the middle," a voice called out to him from the shadows. "What the hell?" he muttered after hearing the voice.
---------------------
Amber shot awake from her sleep drenched in sweat. She was breathing heavy and deathly pale from what she felt and saw. "He can't be....it's impossible.... but then what did I feel? What did I see?" she asked herself as she slowly calmed down. She felt his death cries almost the worst of those that could hear them.

Qui sat in a chair titled back with his feet on a table. The room was dark, illuminated only by the fire which burned brightly in front of him. His pale skin, his white fangs, pierced wing, and two toned eyes; all accented by the flickering light. He watched the embers jump and dance in their silent song. There was a glass of red wine on the table and many books. He sharpened a dagger in his hand with a stone of some sort. An orb is situated on a bookshelf. There are several of them.

Suddenly, one shatters. Qui’s attention turns to the broken glass. At first he shows no interest. Then he stands. A wicked grin slithers across his lips. He puts down the dagger, and takes up the glass of wine, downing the entire thing. “Joshua is dead,” he said softly to himself, “And burning in hell with Kenja.” He laughed, and took a lighter from his pocket. He lit a cigarette and inhaled deeply, sitting back in his chair. “And there was much rejoicing.”

Had he not been so preoccupied with Joshua, he would have noticed the figure standing at the door. And she was not rejoicing. There was a woman there; auburn hair falling down to her waist. For once it was straight. Her crimson eyes scoured the man before her, if a man is what you’d call him. “And much sorrow.” Qui turned toward the woman, and smiled. She shook her head.

“And why should I not be happy? Joshua is dead.”

“Your brethren are dead.”

“And so is Joshua.”

“Joshua is your brethren. He had some of my blood in him, when I
brought him back .The essence never left him.”

“I’m sorry if that doesn’t change the feeling of glee rising up within me at this point and time.”

“So am I,” Rave sat down, next to Qui with an unamused expression. “But he’s not in hell.”

“Huh?” Qui straightened up. “Why not?!”

Rave smiled. “Because he’s your brethren.” She chuckled.

“Bloody hell, that’s ridiculous, he belongs there.”

“No, you do.”

“Oh, I’ll completely agree with you on that, mother. However, I will tell you this.” He leaned in close to her. “I’m not going to hell, because I am your childr.”

“But I can arrange that…”

“You forget who you are Azrael…and you forget who I am. I am Cougaji, and our levels are matched outside of this realm.”

He looked around. As soon as he thought he pinpointed the location of the voice he ran towards it at blinding speed only to stop and realize that he hadn't moved anywhere. He was back where he had begun. He sighed quietly and walked over to one of the larger trees and sat dwn leaning his back against it. "Looks like Rave can't help me now...." He closed his eyes and began to try and peice together what had just happened to him.
Only hours before he died...
Joshua sat on the bar stool alone with no body aorund him but the bar tender. "They always say you loved this bar," a voice said from behind him. He turned around and saw Amber leaning in the door frame. "Mind if I join you?" "No not at all," he repleid as she walked up and sat down beside him. "I wanted to talk to you Amber....about something you'd rather not talk about I'm sure." "What is it? and maybe I'll talk about it," she said as she nodded the the bar teneder who also knew her normal drink and began making it. "The alter invasion several years ago. There was no other version of me with them. What happened to him? What was he like?" Amber was silent her head lowered, "He was killed...he chalenged Phoenix for leadership and was brutaly killed." "I'm sorry," Joshua said to her as he palced a comferting hand on her shoulder. "No it's alright. He was almost like you. Just he didn't know mercy. But when he was off duty he was the most gentle person ever. To tell you the truth he was the reason they decided to try this dimension."
About two hours later...
"I'll get you a cab," he said to Amber as he truned and got off the stool. He helped Amber get off and walked her out to the street. "I'll see you around," he said as he flagged down a cab and gave the driver directions and who to bill the ride to. As the car sped off he sighed and began walking home. As he did he felt something behind him....something like him. Had he turned only a second later there would have been a knife through his heart. At that point he began to run.

Back in the relm of the living...
The mortician sighed quietly as he covered up Joshua's body again with the white cloth and slid him back in his "box" for storage.

Joshua sighed as he recalled the last moments of his life. The undescribable fear he felt but the only thing he could look foreward to now was being able to see her agian. His first love that Qui took away from him so many years ago.

A vampiric figure stood on one of the remote Kurile islands, only a quarter mile across. Now only a ring of inhospitible rock remained, circling a large pool of brackish water where the temple once stood. The daemonic energies still lingered, as did many memories.

The World Seer felt a presence. "What do you seek, Elf."

Eighteen smiled, soft pink lips parting as a frosty voice slipped through. "We have both lost a love now. Are you willing to help me? Don't ask me with what, you already know."

"You're a perceptive girl indeed. I can see why you were...gifted." The vampire turned around to face the Agent, golden eyes remaining impassionate in the face of her pain. "It is unusual for two psychics to help each other."

"We are all unusual by nature. And you are no typical psyker."

He ignored her, continuing on. "It makes deception all but...impossible. Don't you agree?" He gave her a broken grin, one of hope shattered by 800 years of insanity. The Elf finally saw now he was missing a fang.

She spoke in cold tones. "David the World Seer, the Shadow Reaper, host of Justika Korrupt, slayer of the angel Rashel."

Eighteen saw something blurry in the corner of her eye and felt something toss her to the ground before dissipating. Her cloak had been singed where the voilitile energy had gripped her. David still hadn't moved.

He scowled. "You have my attention."

"Can you save him?"

The vampire gifted Eighteen with a predatory smile. "No. But I can take you to him."

"You're no planeswalker."

"Is that so..."

OOC: Okay...Mind if I make up a last name for Joshua for now? Will edit if told otherwise.

Hours ago...

Detective Perry Murdoch was crouched low over the chalked silhouette etched into the dark pavement, panning his head from side to side as he examined the crime scene. He dipped the tip of a silver stylus onto blood that had pooled nearby and smeared it against a device strapped to his wrist. Suddenly, a 5" x 8" hologram appeared from the wristband. Holding up the device closer to his face, he began to speak.

"Record." The watch beeped. "Joshua Knightley, age...Unknown? Hmmph. DNA...That's funny." Block letters spelling out the word "classified" pulsed on the hologram. "Cause of death, deep and wide puncture, moving vertically. Enzyme analysis indicates time of death as 2207 hours. No physical evidence on scene, no weapon to be found. Body yet to be examined at morgue. Case number 522, dash, 892."

Having finished his report, Murdoch gestures to his men by swirling a finger into the air. "Saddle up. We're pretty much done here."

----------

The rain came down with a vengeance that night. Murdoch stood outside the morgue, chuckling at the cliche presented before him--the Gothic building against the backdrop of lightning storms and fog. Upon reaching the top step of the entrance, a small LCD screen to its side greeted him rather coldly.

"Identify."

He held his badge up against the screen.

"Good evening, Detective."

The double doors slowly opened, revealing from within the light green walls and flickering bulbs that was the entrance to the morgue. Murdoch hated coming here...the stench of the dead lingered in the halls, though most of its residents had long been evicted to the grave. It was late at night, and due to the city's recent budget cuts, the morgue was severly understaffed. With only a receptionist and one mortician on the shift from midnight till' morning, it was indeed a lonely place for the living.

"Gladys, did the Doc stuff my catch in the freezer yet?"

"In the process of doing so. Want me to page him?"

"That'd be nice."

"Dr. Parrish, Detective Murdoch needs you upstairs."

*from the funeral scene*
Ravelyn had remained in the corner of the room throughout the ceremony. She wore a black cloak which concealed her identity very well. The only thing that was showing was a glimpse of her red lips. She had waited until the others had gone, or turned away before she approached him. She placed her hand on the side of Joshua’s cheek and traced her fingertips along his jaw-line. Her head hung, and she bent down close to him. Interlocking her hand in his, she let a silver chain slip into his palm. A drop of water fell upon his cheek, or was it a tear?

She turned away from him, and inhaled uneasily. Something…is not right. There is foul play in this… She walked into the other room where people were talking softly; some crying. Joshua was strong…strong enough to bother Qui. It would take a lot to kill him…even if they’ve been dead for a few decades. I’ve been dead a lot longer than a few decades…and he still could be a challenge.…

“Whoever killed my childer,” she said softly, knowing well who was in the room, “is in for a rude awakening.” She left the room, throwing back the doors in an obvious discontent. The doors hit against the wall as they parted, shaking as they swung back closed behind her. It was raining outside, though only lightly. She pushed back the hood of her cloak. Her cheeks were flush with anger. She watched as a cab drove by, her eyes meeting the passengers. She turned away, and began to walk in the opposite direction.

*sighs* ooc: his last name is Maxwell...but maybe he changed it. And he is sure as hell not human. If you have any questions regarding the fact that he isn't human..maybe you should talk to Rave. :-P

OCC:The public knows him as Joshua Knightly. Only Rave, Echo and Phoenix know of his Maxwell roots. And he is a very very very small perent human like .0001%. The rest is Vampire, Angel, and Elite. Or some other stuff. If a blood test was taken it would show up as a military classified screen due to his past. I nthe past he was geneticly and surgicly augmented several times and the fact that it was totaly classified kept anyone from knowing.

In the other realm Joshu felt Raves touch and he sighed quietly. "All I have left are my meories in a sea of forgetfulness. Just floating allone on this 'raft'," he muttered to himself as he began to walk through the forest area now trying to find someone else.
