A diplomatic note sent to all star nations (via merchant shipping as we don't have any starships yet) and released to all news services

"The Republic of New Cynthia, a planet located around the star Danielle, about 30 light years rimward of Castor, is pleased to announce the opening of its first starport. This facility is equipped to handle small and medium sized starships that are able to operate in the atmosphere, and a small fleet of space planes is able to handle the passenger and cargo needs of larger ships.

The new mass driver is able to send robost cargos up into LEO as well.

We offer competitive docking rates and are offering tax breaks to intersteller corporations willing to locate to our facilities.

a seperate note is sent to star nations viewed as potentially friendly

"We are looking for allies to help defend our world as we seek to remain a peaceful planet open to trade to all peaceful nations. We are willing to offer basing, shore leave and favorable trade status to the nation willing to offer us protection."

what I am looking for is good rp set in a intersteller situation were interplanetary conquest is not the first order of business. I am familiar with a number of roleplaying games, lots of different books, and I like the Honor Harrington/Crusade series the best.... a based on some of the names floating around for nations so do some others.

press release, local New Cynthia news outlets only

The New Cynthian Aerospace Force announces the successful completion of testing on the first Independence class Patrol Corvettes. These new ships will replace the outmoded armed shuttles and provide better safety for both our planet and merchant shipping that jumps into system. Although expensive, the Aerospace Force believes that they will be far more cost efficient than maintaining standing fighter patrols, which have over the years resulted in a number of accidents and have worn out the fighter squadron and that this ship and its sisters are far more combat effective than the armed shuttles.

The Merchant Marines are loving their stay. They would like to set up a trading post in your station. Would that be acceptable?

"The breakup of the Corvette Independence as it completed its second flight test has had far reaching consequences. The Secretary of Defense and the undersecretary for the Aerospace Force have both been forced to resign and both are under indictment for accepting pay offs from Northpoint Industries.

The Attorney General has announced the arrest of the senior officials of that corporation and the company has been ordered broken up.

Of course, this now leaves our nation with only a few aging aerospace orbital fighters and a few even more aging shuttles armed with xray laser packs.

notice sent to space tech firms that specalize in the construction of light space warshipsl

"the Republic of New Cynthia is accepting bids for patrol corvettes to equip our Aerospace Force. Patrol corvettes need to be able to operate in atmosphere as well as have sufficient range to patrol up to 100 light minutes from the planet, have sufficient weapons systems and defenses to fight any likely pirate vessel, and cannot exceed $5 Billion"
