OOC:

Arnold tricked one of them after having his entire Elite Commando Squadron torn to pieces and then beaten to a pulp in hand-to-hand combat. He actually didn't kill it. It activated Self-Destruct (Hari-Kari) to preserve its honor.

In Predator II, the decisive combat was considered to be honored. Danny Glover ("The black dude") beat the Hunter in fair combat, and was rewarded by the Elder.

The Predators, under no means, ever "die fast." (With respect to ignore the defeat of Scar by Grid in the AvP Movie by Paul W.S. Anderson. Grid was a bit too overpowered there) Notice how they've been able to heal themselves after having limbs chopped off, or how fast they can heal wounds from shotgun slugs and mini-gun bullets. They're extremely versitile and quite deadly.

INFO POSTED FOR THOSE TO LAZY TO CLICK THE LINK

The Yautja

The creature known as the Predator, or Yautja in its own language, is a bipedal humanoid creature standing approximately 2.5 metres tall. While the Yautja's body may be humanoid in appearance, this cannot be said for its face - having been described as having a face like a "mutated crab", the Yautja possess a very distinct look. The most prominent feature of this look are four mandibles which protrude from, and surround, a smallish mouth filled with sharp teeth. These mandibles are used for communicating, much like a cat uses its tail to communicate its mood.

The Yautja also have a verbal language of clicks and chirps, and are capable of mimicking other verbal languages to a degree. On their head, the Yautja have course bristly "hair" which is twisted into dreadlocks. An average Yautja weighs between 250 to 350 pounds, most of this being pure muscle. The Yautja have very little body fat due to their predatory lifestyle and diet.

Skin color is generally a pasty yellow mottled with black spots. Eye color is green or yellow. The Yautja are much stronger and faster than an average human, possess lightning quick reflexes and their dexterity surpasses that of man. Their blood is green with a phosphoresent quality which has properties that protect them against the caustic effects of their favorite prey's blood. As far as sensory perceptions, it is believed that they are similar to humans - however, it is a common practice for Yautja to employ technology to heighten their senses. As far as environment, it appears that the Yautja prefer hot, humid conditions with an atmosphere rich in nitrogen.

The Yautja lifespan is many decades, sometimes as long as 300 years. This longevity suggests that sons live with their mothers for many of these years, as it takes longer for them to mature and fend for themselves. Daughters stay with their mothers, to eventually raise their own children and maintain clan dominance. Individual females would probably birth every few decades and be very particular about the father, but keep no permanent pairing bonds. This leads to very high competition among males.

Males live in packs of generally unrelated males. In this atmosphere of high competition for breeding rights, there are many males who never get to breed. These frustrated males may turn on their subordinates. But the males who breed have proven themselves by hunting dangerous prey and gaining many impressive trophies. Another bonus is the admiration of their clan brothers - males hunt for status.

*********************************************************

I'm not sure whether this race will be open to negotiation with the rest of the universe(s), but if they are or will be, it should get interesting.

I withdraw my sarcastic comments, and replace them with a hearty "WELCOME!"

The Universe is a large place, and while you are very dangerous beings in your own right, there are many equally powerful, and much, much larger than your young world. Even your honorable warriors cannot stand against the might of a world-buster torpedo, or an armada of star-destroyers.

Negotiation is the fine art of making yourself look harmless to your enemies, before waiting for the right time to strike them down. Allies are soft meat that is not for eating, but to be used as weapons against others.

OOC:

No. If he killed it, it would have been dead and unable to activate it's self-destruct. The weight that fell on it may have MORTALLY WOUNDED IT, but did not KILL IT. It killed itself.

Predator II had Danny Glover. Don't try to argue this against me.

Predators have not only taken on Jedi Knights, they've fought against Superman (1v1), Batman (1v1), Xenomorphic Hordes (1-3vHive), United Systems Colonial Marines (1vBase), and many other cross-overs. They rarely hunt in packs more than 3, except when using the Migratory Spacecraft where an entire tribe can hunt (A la Predator II), or using a mothership when shipping out the Unblooded (AvP).

OOC: It would be, seeing as the Plasma Caster is an auto-tracking weapon. However, for tanks and such, most Yautja would use remote mines (tanks couldn't see a Yautja anyway. I've seen some leap on top of aircraft (VTOL) when they were firing at it and rip into the cockpit with their wrist blades in AvPII {PC}) to disable its movement, or perhaps open it up and start poking in with a combistick.

OOC: Yautja have no need for tanks or armored vehicles. Anything you could hope to trade with them, they don't need. Yautja don't fight wars. They have no need for military vehicles or units.

They are a society devoted to HUNTING. Which means they ALL OF THEM are skilled in the ways of concealment, guerilla tactics, sniping, tracking, skinning, cleaning (such as one would clean a fish), paramedic skills, and polishing trophies (watch Predator II when the Hunter polishes Danny's or Bill Paxton's Skull). Most societies will have nothing to garner their eye as their tech level is not only very alien in nature, it's quite powerful.

No, he didn't make it kill itself. He had no idea what it was doing. THe Yautja made the CONSCIOUS DECISION to activate self-destruct. It DID NOT HAVE to do that. It could have lain there for days until it bled out and died, or it could have let Arnold kill it. It chose the honorable way out. It chose.

And you'd be quite surprised at the annals of comics that Yautja have appeared in. I advise you to look some up.
