OOC Introduction:

Hello and welcome to the “Iuthian Holidays” the thread in which an Iuthian program on INB (Iuthia National Broadcasting) is broadcast so that we may learn more about one another’s nations from the tourist’s point of view.

Basically each episode/post that I make, I will cover a different nation which has answered a questionnaire of my devising designed to get all the information I need to role-play one of their people going to your nation for a week and filming their holiday like you may see in holiday programs like “Wish you were here”. I will only give this questionnaire to people who display their interest on this thread who I want to do in the near future… priority will go to nations who I think will make for a good post but if your concept is interesting it doesn’t matter who you are. Bare in mind that your nation has to have a tourism industry in the first place and if you are a dangerous nation to visit I may not go depending on your co-operation.

Each episode/post which I make will then be linked for quick access on this first post… which means you can find your post easy and it means that this thread can be spammed to hell and I can still have each entry easily found through the index on this post. You’ll see when it gets started.

The advantages of this are clear, on one hand I get to visit other nations and learn more about them and post a good IC report which can be shown off to others… that information can be used by yourself to further document your nation and lets face it; you have more coverage and my characters for the show will get more famous, which is part of the point.

So display your interest briefly, make your comments and we’ll see how this thing takes off. The orginal thread was posted in International Incidents but I was advised to make a thread in Nationstates on IRC because alot of them can't stand the other forum.

[OOC: Oooh. I'd be most interested in this; although my game-nation Ma-tek isn't listed as having a spectacular tourist industry, I've always roleplayed ICEL as having a very heavy yearly tourist influx - mostly due to the game-engine data (generally very good environment, good transport, little-to-no crime), but also as my RPd nation has a very long, very rich history; it's also home to an unusual set of cultures, plus has public nudity and nightclubs with rooms set aside for orgies out the back. Who wouldn't visit?

Anyhow, if any such thing were to happen, I'd have to say that it'd take more than a questionairre for you to be able to get the flavour right. But, if you are interested (as it'd be quite a bit of effort involved!), then let me know and I'll bombard you with information. ;)]

I would prefer game nations becuase it means more information about the nations people RP... but I suppose if you want to fill in the questionnaire I won't mind and I'll put it on my list of "to do".

Thankfully it seems like I'm on top of it for now because the people in II haven't got back to me, maybe because the questionnaire is quite long.

Telegrams sent, if you haven't gotten it please tell me, I've been having trouble with the telegram system as one nation lost their reply when it didn't get to me.

Save your answers before you send them, otherwise the telegram may not come through and you will have to fill it in again if don't give up. So save just in case.

Just a stopping in to disrupt your thread, sorry. I just wanted to say hi Iuthia. Hope your story goes as planned. I would do this, but I really focus on the characters, not the landscape. TG with something more orientated with characters and I might do that, I miss RPing with you.

meh, this is definately one of those nation things which don't focus on character interaction and instead focus on describing nations.

In anycase I don't really have much in the way of magic plots these days... Iuthia doesn't have magic and is incapable of it and we only got involved in the past because of Rave Shentavo... something I don't really get involved in as much these days.

Perhaps I'll see you around in something, but I like to RP my nation and the VIP's of that nation... it's a different style which doesn't mix much.

OOC: If your willing to do future-tech, then I'm in. Skeelzania has consistently ranked high on the "Safe to visit" scale so you probably won't be pickpocketed. I would warn you not to send an obviously alien reporter though, since the average Skeelzanian is a raging Xenophobe and the government doesn't do much to stop them.

Theres two planets I would suggest, if only because the enviroment isn't as hostile as some of my other ones. The first is Exante, a planet recently annexed from Coreworlds following several battles and the near-complete destruction of the only city. Its been opened to immigration and is rapidly expanding and very polluted. Crime is also higher here than on other Skeelzanian worlds. Not my personal favorite.

The other choice is Solomon, which I would prefer. Its my capital-world and is more "civilized" than the others, though its gravity is rather higher than Earth's as well as the background radiation. We have things that'll keep you alive for a few weeks though. Its mostly urban, with rural desert and plains beyond the main cities.

Of course, theres some National Security issues, though as long as you don't film any military complexes or get to close to the Prince you'll leave with your skull intact. A visit probably isn't much more hairy than one to modern China.

We would be very interested in filling out your questionnaire. As our name indicates we run many casinos for the enjoyment of tourists. We also have an area set aside for things to return to the pristine state of man as a part of nature existing before the arrival of the White Man. The buffalo runs free, the inhabitants live in teepees and hunt with hand made bows and flint flaked arrow heads. There are observation areas where the beauty of the native existance can be viewed but with no interaction, with one exception; once a year a buffalo hunt is allowed where selected tourists may join in the hunt. All participants wear only loincloth, hunt with a flint knife and a flint tipped spear. All meat is shared with the hunting party in a truly native feast.

You wouldn't be the only one taking your time, the majority of the people I've sent telegrams to either haven't gotten them (and haven't told me they haven't gotten them) or haven't the time to reply to my thousand word questionnaire, though it's not that demanding, most the worlds are examples given to tell the player what sort of answer I'm looking for.

Anyways, telegram sent, take your time, each post takes me a while to type because I'm averaging at 1'500 words for each nation. :p

I wouldnt mind a TG if you don't mind my moderate crime rates.
