"Today's front page story is that of the announcement of the start of work on a new Trans-Praetonia Mag-Lev Railway (TPMLR) to be carried out by the Allanean Firm, Taggart Transcontinental.
"Allanea, a nation which has recently regained her independance, managed to beat off all comers for the $30bn contract, including two notable Praetonian firms Imperial Praetonian Rail and Imperial Transnational. This has come as a shock to most political commentators who believe it is almost impossible for a foreign firm to gain any high profile construction deals under a Liberal-Imperial Government. This latest development seems to bring into question the openly 'Praetonia-First' self-sufficiency policy that our government currently prides itself on.
The network itself will strech for over 4,000km, running trains travelling at over 250kph on almost silent engines. The carriages themselves will, even in the economy section, be luxurious in comparison with 1st class seat on the current rail network, as our reporters have been finding out at the Taggart Transcontinental Yard in Allanea..."
