ICEL Opens Embassy in International City

INTERNATIONAL CITY, FRIDAY - International City welcomed Friday the opening of the ICEL Embassy, only the second ICEL Embassy to be staffed by organics outside the Commonality. The first, the ICEL Stellar Embassy, aboard CSS Valiant, opened just over two months ago.

The ICEL Embassy in International City has been rapidly constructed, but the beautiful gardens are a testiment to the handiwork of the Imperial Gardening Guild, who painstakingly transferred all of the plants, trees, and shrubs to the premises, making minor genetic adjustments where necessary to establish a grouping of new symbiosis with local insect and microbiological life. The soil was carefully sifted for any lifeforms not found on the premises of the new Embassy before transport, to ensure no pollution of the new environment.

"This level of dedication to ecological care," noted Imperial Gardeners Guild official Suran Dth'gar stated Friday, "is a testiment to the improvement in the general mindset of the Iluvauromeni People with regard to the world they live in, and what cares must be taken to ensure the safety of that world."

The Imperial Gardeners Guild stated categorically last week that all of the flora transferred do not have similar genetic types to any of the flora in the local area, thus preventing potentially dangerous cross-pollination between GM flora and non-GM flora.

The Imperial Gardeners Guild spokesman, Suran Dth'gar, denied accusations that cross-pollination could still occur with Iluvauromen's flora, via the trade winds or other atmospheric effects. "The chances of that occuring are almost zero," he denied.

Surprisingly, 1st Ambassador Nejure has been assigned to the Embassy, with a small staff from the Diplomatic Corps compound to be transferred over the coming weeks. The Ambassador will presumably make frequent flights to and from International City, between his home posting at the Commonality Diplomatic Corps Compound in the Foreign Quarter, Nenya, and the ICEL Embassy in Sixth Avenue, just off Embassy Square, International City.

The Embassy is not just home to diplomatic staff. Further to the services offered by the Embassy - from answering the questions of the citizens of any nation that request a meeting, electronic or physical, with an Embassy official to offering neutral territory for conflict resolution - the Citizenship Application Bureau, generally under the control of the Immigration Authority but with jurisdiction ceded to the Embassy in this instance, has constructed a building inside the Embassy grounds.

"The C.A.B. building will welcome all who wish to apply for Iluvauromeni Citizenship, and the Embassy will provide transport to the Commonality for all who successfully complete the application process," High Lord Commodore Semir-randil announced Sunday, during his first visit to the Embassy grounds. "And all applications will be considered on individual merit by the Immigration Authority, pursuant to the acceptance of the Commonality Diplomatic Corps Security Staff," he added when questioned on just who would be allowed Citizenship.
