A Step Towards Greatness (Open, Intro RP)

A bolt of white lightning crossed the sky, unaccompanied by the blast of thunder that usually followed. It was a simple electrical storm, the sign of the comming rainy season on the small isle of Versalles. However, the bolt of lightning was dramatic in a sense, as it lit up the death room of the old castle. It was an appropriate name, the room was assigned to be the final breathing place of the ruling queen. The castle was old, over five hundred years, yet used mostly for cerimonial events. In the 21st century, a castle this old was no place for a ruler. Save for the moments of her final breaths.
In a large, Victorian styled bed, a dying woman lay still. At the foot of the bed was her Supreme Chancelor, the Archbishop of Versalles, and two gaurds, armed with Heckler and Koch G3 rifles. The Queen's Own. They all stood silent as a doctor stood over her, watching her. It had been just over one half hour sense he last checked, and deciding it was time, he checked again. He placed his index and middle finger against her cartaroid artary, then looked at the four men at the foot of the bed, and bowed his head slightly. "Supreme Chancelor, mark down that Queen Kathrine IV's time of death is," he checked his watch, "11:32 pm. Cause, natural age."
The two gaurds at the foot of the bed bowed to teh dead body, and one pressed a button on his radio. "Get the cerimonial gaurd ready, and contact the 1st Queen's Regiment. We have exactly 48 hours to crown a new queen before the people can invoke the right to elections. I believe Princess Elizabeth is next in line."
The Chancelor nodded in agreement. "It is my duty as teh Supreme Chancelor to inform the Princess that she is to be crowned Queen of Versalles. I'll get on it right away. Gentlemen, I believe now is a good time to open our arms to teh rest of the world. On a diplomatic level, at least." As he turned to leave the room, he removed a cellphone from his pocket. As he reached the door, he turned, and looked at the now deceased 103 year old woman. He knew this time was comming, and had someone managed to not break down in tears. While the Archbishop didn't because he never liked the woman, the doctor because death was seen by him every day, and the Gaurds because it would show weakness, for him, it was different. He had somehow come to accept the death. Before he left, he spoke one final time. "The Queen is dead. Long live the new Queen."

My Esteemed World Leaders
Today is a day of great sadness. Last night, at the hour of 11:32pm, local time, Queen Kathrine Saldsy VI of Coldsbay passed at the age of one hundred and three years old. He reign was one of a peacefull tollerance, however, it was one of diplomatic isolationism, in following of the rulers before her. However, under order from the Princess Elizabeth Bradston II of Chattlebury, soon to be crowned Queen of Versalles and its Lands, I am officially inviting those of the diplomatic corps of other nations who wish to attend the coronation ceremony. I hope that new realations can be formed, and that a peacefull communique can be opened with many nations. Please, join me on this day to celebrate the Coronation of Princess Elizabeth Bradston II of Chattlebury. With the Greatest Respect and Honor,
Supreme Chancelor to Her Magisty

Your Majesty, Her Higness, Queen Corrina ni Gwydion
The people of Versalles thank you for your kind words, and I look forward to meeting the representative of your fine nation.
Supreme Chancelor Ryan Colven

At Veilside Castle in Coldsbay, the great hall was being prepared for the coronation ceremony. With the assumed record attendance for the crowning of the new queen, the hall had to be perfect. The long row of bleacher like seats, made of oak and held in place by stone, were polished and dusted. So were the other portions of the hall, including the 24k gold Cross that hung over the main entrance, and the stained glass windows that allowed light to shine in with a colored glow. It had to be perfect.
The Queen's Own Guard, a contigent of the Special Forces, doned their cerimonal garb. Similar to that of the Vatican Swiss Gaurd, but a little less flmaboyent, the uniforms dated back to Queen Jenna the Great, before the turn of the 18th Century. However, while each gaurd was armed visably with a large ornate broadsword, they also carried Beretta and Sig pistols underneath their uniforms. Not that they didn't know how to use the swords.
In Chattelbury, a small town on the eastern coast of Versalles, a convoy of black Mercedes Benz limmosuines arrived in front of Eastbay pallace, the home of Princes Elizabeth. She was quickly escorted to the vehicles, which began their seven hour drive back to Coldsbay.
At King Ian International Airport, a fleet of black Mercedes Benz and BMW limmos lined up, waiting to drive visitors to their lodgings.
To Lord Chancelor Colven, Princess Elizabeth, and the People of Versalles;
I am personally saddened by the news of the passing of your Queen, Kathrine IV. It is always a tragedy when royalty is taken from us by death, I send my regards to you all in these hard times and will personally attend the coronation of princess Elizabeth. It is important for like minded governments, in this case queendoms, to stand together and I hope that we can form relations between our nations that will last till the end of time.
Queen Ann Marie Bonny I.
High Chancellor Ryan Collven
It saddens me to hear of the death of your queen. I pray for her soul, her family, and the people of your nation in this time of tragedy. However, I'm glad to hear that a new leader is already in line to take the thrown. I would like to attend the ceremony personaly, however with my schedule I'm afraid that it would be imposible to attend. I will send our High Ambasador Robert Fortier to attend the Coronation, and represent our nation. With Respect
First Speaker Anna Frateli

Fortier leaned back in his seat in the executive jet, a Citation 10. Since the assasination attempt, he had been regulated to riding his motorcycle, driving his car, and doing the whole diplomatic thing. His chest still was sore from the surgery, but he was recoperating well. He felt the descent of the jet, and looked out the window. The land from the small island was comming into sight, and he realized they were about to land. He took a few more advil for the soreness in his chest, and watched the ground come up to him.

As the Citation came in for a landing, a black Mercedes pulled forward. An envoy of the Queen stepped out, and waited by the hanger specified for the Imitoran delegation. As Fortier departed the aircraft, the envoy approached bowing as he came to a stop. "Ambasador Fortier, welcome to Versalles," he said, extending his hand. He had an almost British accent, which seemed to compliment his suit and deamenor. "My name is Devon Starlet, I'll be your guide for the event."
He held out his hand towards the Mercedes, and smiled. "Right this way."

A wooden ship bearing the crest of house Liam sailed into the port. Human sailors fussed about the rigging as the vessel docked. A strange being came out upon the deck, a man of uncanny beauty with ears tapering into elegant points. He dressed in a silver cloak and black leggins, a rapier at his hip. The man walked quietly down the ramp, speaking to whoever was there to great him. "Good morn. I am Sir Quin ap Liam, representative of Her Imperial Majesty."

Knowing that some delegations would arive by ship, ports too were readied. However, the nearest port to Coldsbay was a four hour drive. Knowing this, several Puma helicopters, made specifically for diplomatic transport, had been dispatched. The choppers could make the flight in just under an hour. As Sir Liam descended, a man dressed in a suit approached quikly.
He bowed deeply. "Sir Liam, it is a great pleasure to meet you. If you'll please follow me, we'll be flying to the castle grounds," he finished, holding his hand out towards the helicopter.

Sir Quin arches a brow faintly at the manner of address. He assumes it must be some local costum. He smiles politely to the man. "Of course. It is likewise a pleasure to meet you, mister...?" Quin looks to the helicopter, eyes widening a little. "Might I ask the nature of this...conveyance?"
Versalles
04-10-2004, 18:49
OOC: Not sure what your asking by the conveyance. If you mean how it works, then the representative will explain how it works, if you mean whay are they taking it, then he would explain that the distance is to far to take the cars.
IC:
As they boarded the helicopter, the ambasador introduced himself as James Stells. The inside of the Puma was well decorated, and insleated, keeping it quiet despite the engine pushing the rotors. The pilot poked his ehad into the cabin, and told the two men that they would be airborne in a minute, and that the weather was nice, and the flight would be calm.
"Personaly," James said, "I prefere this way. I was a pilot in Her Magesty's Royal Air Force for five years. Flew transport helicopters. But enough of that, tell me about Resurgant Dream."
Fortier shook the man's hand. He followed him to the limmosuine, and slid into the open door. Sliding over and giving Starlet some room to sit, he buckled his seat belt, and watched the world slowly go by as the vehicle began moving. "Mr. Starlet," it was more of a question than an opening, hoping that he didn'y miss a proper title, "first, let me be the first to welcome to The FSOP. I'm sure your nation will be a great asset. But let me aslo thank you for allowing me to attend this fine event," he finished.
As they drove down the street, he almost had flashbacks to the first time he did something like this, several years back in Iansisle. It had been what, five years? Six maybe? He glanced out the window again, then turned back to Devon. "So, how long have you been in service of the crown?"

Sir Quin still looks stares blankly as he sits, wincing at the noise. The man's words are just jibberish to him, of course. "We lack anything of this...sort."
Versalles
05-10-2004, 03:42
"Really?" James asked as the low hum of the engines running on full power filled the cabin. It was simply background noise, nothing above a quiet pur. With a light pull, the helicopter pushed off, and rotated towards Coldsbay. After a few seconds of a slow climb, it began moving forward towards the castle.

"Thank you, Ambasador Fortier," Starlet responded. He was always pleased to get compliments that he could return to his government. "Well, you could say I've been in the service for 12 years. Eight years in the service as a soldier in the Royal Army, then another four as an Ambasador for the Crown."

OOC: Hope I am not too late to enter. Sometimes open RPs fill up quite fast.
IC: Saphron sat upon the majesty's chair with an air of silence and tranquillity. She had just been handed a letter from the nation of Versalles. I am not familar with this nation, I do wonder why they choose to send me this letter. She paused and returned to reading the letter. The nation has lost thier queen. This is a trying time for thier nation, I can understand that. Saphron glanced up she her chancellor. Her voice clear and echoed throughout the hall, "What you propose I do? You know our nation has regressed back to ancient times and concerned only with the matters of our neccessities. Assumptions can be made that you would like me to contact this newly established queen. I, however, am hesitant to believe much can be changed in such a sort amount of time. It takes centuries or even ions to change a civilization. And who says our people would like this. We barely communicate with the mother nation."
Her chancellor allowed her to finish. She had grown very used to Saphron's ways and was wise beyond the years of her experience, working with four generations of queens and kings. "I guessed you would think that your majesty, but our ancestors did have contact with the royality of Versalles." A smile crossed her pale wrinkled face. She handed Saphron yellow dusty old scrolls. "I thought you would like to see these to help with your decision."
Silence filled the room and nothing stirred.
"Interesting. There was to be a marriage between one of our ancestors and theirs. I wonder what became of that." Saphron said, breaking the silence. She rustled through the papers. "It seems much of our history has been lost." A frown crossed her face.
Ahhh ha! "You would like me to extend our borders and recreate our relationship with them to find the missing links."
"My child you are quite easy to catch on."
laughter filled the bleak room.
"I do hope the Queen will agree to our visitation and our neccessity."
"I am sure you can figure that one out."
"I must do it?"
"You must do it, like in the past, it to be a queen's duty to her people to find the knowledge that was once lost."
Saphron nodded. Moments later a transcriptor came and Saphron gave her this to type up and send to the nation of Versalles, much more personal then any telegram she had sent, stinging her with her loss of her sister.
------------------------
To the nation of Versalles:
I can understand what you feel and I have lost what you have lost. My heart still processes the loss and my body mourns with yours. Although, mine is a loss and my sister shall return, I feel it in my bones, your beloved Queen shall not come back. She slumbers one that will not be allowed to awake. When something is taken away that encomposses your whole life, it is hard to imagine. Know, though that there is always another person who can come along and shift you in the positive direction, be it a new queen or just a friend. People of Versalles you have been blessed with a new queen, take her and mold her for she is yours and you are hers.
To Queen Elizabeth Bradston II of Chattlebury:
One can never know what is felt by someone who is love the recent deceased. One can only understand you feel for my sister has been gone for so long. Responsibilities are to be taken and their is little, but no time for sorrowful mourning. People in our situation are called at these moments to stand by each other. I, personally, will be there to support you in those needs. But I must tell you that I also have prior engagements I must attend to while there. If it let me be to talk with your elder councilors on the history between your nation and mine. I will come shiftly if needed be. With a listening heart.

OOC: Thats fine, it sounds ok. It would be good to use so I could get some history for my nation. I'll have to reply later though, Im tired as hell, and the time change isnt favoring me. Also, the 'elders' of my nation (its fully modern tech, like the UK if it hadn't gone to a constitutional monarchy) is just the Queens Librarian, and even then, he doesn't know anything about the history, he simply has access to the archives. I'm sure however there would be somthing in the archives we could use.

OOC: I agree. My bed is yelling out my name and my body wants to go. As for your nation's technical level it still can be worked out. This part of my nation is considered magical and based on tradition and their ancestors. However, the nation is quite aware of the present, but chose not to incorporate it into their present. My character will understand your system, but the culture will definitely be different. I suppose we could talk more about this via telegram and not waste it on OOC comments. Good night.

"Then, may I ask, how do you get around?" James asked Quin.

"Madam, it seems that this nation claims they have a history with us," a man sitting across from the Princess spoke. He slid the letter across the desk to her, and she opened it, looking at it intently. She stood back up, and sucked in her breath as her bodice was tightend. It squeezed the air out of her, but she would only have to wear it as long as the ceremony was going on. For the ball afterwards, she would be able to remove it.
"Intresting," Princess Elizabeth spoke. She scanned the letters, then handed it back to one of the many aides. "Inform Geoffery that his services will be needed following the coronation," she spoke, refering to the court librarian. She grunted again as the bodice was tightend even more. "And inform Empress Saphron that her presence will be welcomed."
"Ah, a military man. Did some service time myself. So, a quick question, am I going to meet the Queen, or will it just be the coronation?" Fortier asked, sudenly much more at ease, realising taht he was dealing with a military man.

"If you'd like, I can try to introduce you to the Queen at the ball tonight, following the coronation," Starlet replied. As he said this, the limmo pulled into a parking lot of a large hotel. Porters removed Fortier's bags, and started bringing them up to one of the rooms.
"We reserved the Imperial suite for you," Starlet said.

Quin smiles a little. "It is like a land lost in time. There is a strong supernatural presence and an aversion to technocracy...well, among most people. Recently, we've become much more active diplomatically. I do believe that we currently have six delegations working in foreign lands and our crown princess was only recently wed to the Emperor of Akaton."

A messenger ran into the room and up to Saphron, he kneeled before her and she said, "Give it here, please. Then be on your way." Trivial things she did not like to do, but was obliged to. She read through the letter and tossed it on the floor next to her. Someone would pick it up. She stood up and made her way over to her high councilor. "Dear Elezaveth, it seems I shall be making a trek to the land of Versailles. Prepare the way." She stepped away from her and walked to her room. Elezabeth told several servants and they rushed off. Saphron was to leave in approximately one hour and there was so much to do.
-------------------------
The trip in the air was peaceful and Saphron rested in her seat. She had much to think about and plan. She rested her mind.
------------------------
Empress Saphron stepped out the door and made her way, slowly and determined down the stairs onto the ground. Her eyes searched the people the stood outside and waited her presence. Although, Saphron a human, her appearance had magics intertwined in her. She was a graceful woman and tall like elves. She was slim and her body becomming and many women tried for. She decided on a black suit that fit her body and showed her creamy pale skin off. Her bright vibrant red hair flowed in the air and her green eyes narrowed. She looked like a business woman who really belonged in the forest, like a fairy. Her looks decieving, but her intentions true. Her smile broke the blank look and her green eyes sparkled.
It had been awhile being out of her nation and it felt good.

"The future Queen Elizabeth is a young lady, only 24, but she has actually taken the thrown quite late. In our past years, Queen's have taken the thrown at ages as young as 15, however untill they reach the age of 19, a Chancellor usually advises them on maters of state. The coronation ceremony is farily brief, with the Arch Bishop crowning the Queen, then the royal anouncement by the Chancellor of Chattelbury (OOC: Prounounced Chat-ul-beary, even if the word looks French, the nation is English in origin, so give it an English pronounciation). Following that, their will be a ball held in honor of the coronation."

She stared out the tinted window at the passing scenary.
"It takes away your innocent and childhood. Responsibilities never allow for play, but work."
She had a lot in common with this woman and it might make matters better.

The woman, dressed rather conservatively in what would be considered a suit, stepped forward, offering her hand. "I appologize for the wait Mr. Fortier, but I've been rather busy. It is, of course, my pleasure to meet you."
OOC: Lets keep discussing the move in Cava on AIM, I wanna figure out where we wanna take this before continuing. Also, sorry for taking so long, I hadn't seen that you had posted.
Fortier was stunned. He quickly dropped to a knee, and took her hand, kissing it gently. "Your highness, it is a great pleasure." Saphron smiled politely and went to settle herself into her room. Within an hour her things were neatly organized and she was feeling like searching out others before the coronation. She stepped out of the her room and walked down the what seemed endless hallway.
Where is everyone?
All she could hear was the swoosh of her pants flowing around her legs and the soft click of her heals. A few steps later her ears were met with the sound of a woman's voice and a male's voice. Good, there is civilization here.
She continued to walk and found the following scene. A young man dressed in causal wear, blue jeans and a black shirt, while the woman standing infront of him wore a suit similar to her own.
Ahh...
Queen Elizabeth.
She walked up to the two. Careful not to interrupt. "Excuse me Queen Elizabeth II of Chattlebury, it is a pleasure to finally meet you." Her accent pronounced the title with perfect grammer.
"I am Empress Sapron of AmandaTheGreat."
She turned to the male, a smile increasing as she obviously looked him up and down. "I am not aware of you though. Do tell me your name sir."
Fortier turned and looked at the new girl. Damn, if I had known there would be this many good looking women, I would have signed up for this job a long time ago, he thought to himself. "I'm Robert Fortier, from Imitora, your higness," he said, bowing to her.
