The Crawling City
Hatrim mounted his shadow horse. The magical chair was well hastened to the creature, but he checked it again, just in case. After muttering a few words, the creature moved, quickly after every passing second, moving is phantasmal legs, even though it did not need them.
It took Hatrim a few hours to reach the hill. It was barren, but it gave him a good place to witness the event. He thought he would be able to see it from the beginning, but it had already commenced. Oh well, better late than never.
Three massive pylons floated high in the air, moving alongside with the city, as it crawled above the burning landscape of central Tarvalak. Minute figures could be seen floating above it as well, but from where he stood he was unable to tell what they were. The pylons were surrounded in a purplish aura, and cracks of violet energy came from it at random intervals. The spell was taking place already. The city moved from place to place, it's massive devilish legs trying to get the structure out from the pylon's reach. But it was futile. Only a couple of minutes passed, when the city fell below a blackened cloud of energy, that emanated from the same floating pylons.
------------------------------------------------------
"Whit in tarnation!?" Shouted a puzzled dwarf, as he witnessed his hands. They were translucent, and his whole body became more and more ethereal as time went by. The dark iron walls now seemed little more than smoke, and the whole land around could be seen through them. The floors above and below were visible as well. Such was the strange state of the city, hunted by the massive pylons of magic.
------------------------------------------------------
The Crawling City was disappearing. No one was sure why, but clearly it had something to do with those pylons. They had appeared from nowhere about a week ago, near Blackcauldron Valley, and then set course toward the city, which was not too far away from there. During the following days, the massive monoliths stood around the city, floating and silent. Some expeditions were sent to investigate them, but as soon as someone came close, they dissipated in a matter of seconds, into an unknown location.
-------------------------------------------------------
Hatrim watched the spectacle with a bit of interest, and a bit of fear. He did not know what was going on, but it was surely something he would have to tell to his mates back at the alehouse. The Crawling City, the *entire* Crawling City, was fading away, along with whoever was inside, thousands upon thousands of dwarfs.
-------------------------------------------------------
Red, lots of it, and everywhere. Perhaps brown, but bright brown. Less red that the lands back home, however, where the rock itself boiled among pits of hot lava. The transmigration had taken place, and the city was somewhere else, somewhere else far, far away. And the dwarfs inside were just about to find it out.
//OOC: The Crawling City needs a place to land. It was magically teleported to Mars, but the exact location is yet unkown. If someone wishes to join and provide the landing place, I would be most grateful.
