Thelas

Fleet Construction Officer Heinrich Reichtest was one of the few human officers in the high echelons of the Thelasi military, and he was proud of it. He was an FCO, the officer in charge of supervising Thelasi fleet construction. He had never before actually met the Empress, but today he had been called to her office or a private meeting.
As soon as he stepped up to her door, it opened without a sound, Ithenril was sitting behind a desk looking out into space at the unfolding battle. “Heinrich, wilkommen (Heinrich, welcome). Wie geht’s? (How are you?)” Heinrich was for a second taken aback by the use of his native tongue, “Gut danke… (Good, Thank you)” Ithenril smiled, switching back in Old Sindarin, “You wonder why I have called you here… look out into space, you see our fleets doing battle with inferior forces. Yet we can learn from these inferiors, come sit down.”
Heinrich sat looking oddly at the Empress, “Heinrich, you no doubt have heard of Ion Weapons?” he nodded, “Good, as you know these weapons can penetrate several inches of armor before they can do damage, correct?” Again Heinrich nodded, “Good. This had lead me to think, our Ion cannons can be refitted into current turrets.” She displayed a hologram showing a Thelasi gun turret, except with the familiar accelerator replaced by Ion cannons, “The issue is the energy required, correct?”
Heinrich nodded, “Yes milady, it would take many, many, reactors to enable a Thelasi ship to be equipped with even four of these turrets.” Ithenril smiled, “Good to see they taught you well… We have a solution… and artificial singularity, a miniature black hole.”
This time Heinrich nearly gawked, “But how…” “Yes, how do we keep it from eating the ship. Simple actually, Gravitic reflectors, the same technology that we use to keep our Grav-ships flying in the atmosphere, the Gravitic units will reflect the singularity back upon itself, keeping it contained”* Heinrich finished, “And energy is generated by feeding the reaction molecules that our magnetic scoops pick up from space…”
“Right. Finally, is our counter to Ionic Weaponry. Ions are charged particles, therefore by charging the outside of the armor plate…” “Ion weapons can be diverted.” “Right. Heinrich, I will give you the plans that have been drawn up by out scientists, I want all our new ships, and all ships being repaired” She looks at the battle, “To be fitted with these modifications.” “It will be done Empress”
Heinrich stood, walking out of the room, Seven fleets… seven new Thelasi fleets equipped with revolutionary weapons and reactors… well, eight fleets, if you count Omega Base… But the Empress doesn’t know about that… and the Commander wants to keep it that way… I wonder why?**
Ithenril spoke up, “Oh and Heinrich, I want the C’tan technology out of the new designs” Heinrich nodded, “Yes ma’am” He had never liked the Necrons…
OOC:
* Okay, I know that this is theoretically possible… I can’t visualize how the hell it would work, but it is possible
** And don’t ask about Omega Base, I’m not telling
