The LMC Dominion

OOC: You might have heard of me as Izistan; I've wanted to give future tech role-playing a try for some time now. If there is a mistake or error in my writing, please feel free to tell me(I hope it doesn't sound corny).
---------------------------
The Navigator exited Blue-Space near a wormhole(Official LMC designation: Tartarus), an XE-10 class a long range exploration frigate, it was fully prepared to examine any matter of stellar anomaly; including the blue-green glowing hole in space-time that lay a few hundred kilometers from the ships bow. A large red/purple gas giant(Official LMC designation: Erebus) swirled in the background; its moons(Erebus I, II and III) were visible among the planet sized storms which circled the equator of Erebus relentlessly.
Hatches opened in the hull and retractable sensor booms extended, examining everything that Tartarus had to offer. Probes were propelled out of torpedo tubes and they fell toward the Event Horizon of the wormhole; they disappeared upon reaching it, thrust through space-time to…Somewhere; a Blue-Space communication beacon was deployed, allowing the ship to relay information back to the home world once the other beacon was established on the other side. Navigators’ Anti-Matter/Matter reaction drive fired, and the ship began to accelerate toward Tartarus and whatever lay on the other side. The crew was unconcerned though, for within the cargo holds was enough tools to facilitate the refueling of the ship’s fusion reactor for their return home; all they needed was ice to provide hydrogen for the reactor, and oxygen and water for the crew. The twin shuttles lay snug in their docks, they were to carry exploration teams to any planets or objects of interest that the ship would encounter. And a light armory, none of the new MK-1 plasma rifles, but they did have 6.7mm CMAR-11 carbines, M34 Smart Grenade Launchers and plasma-based flame throwers. The whole ship was rather looking forward to this trip and they were quite well equipped for whatever lay ahead.
145 kilometers off the starboard bow, another XE-10 re-entered Real-Space ; the Oberon fired its drive and matched the Navigators’ speed and heading. It would follow the Navigator into the wormhole; in case Navigator was damaged or destroyed, at least one would return.
It was almost 600 years after the early interstellar colony ship Valhalla, had been thrown through a freak wormhole and arrived suddenly in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The ship’s AI had managed to locate a habitable world and shortly thereafter landed and established the LMC Dominion. Recent development of the Blue-Space FTL drive enabled the LMC to commence exploration of nearby solar systems; and of course, to discover Tartarus in a Trojan orbit around a gas giant(which had a few mineral rich moons and several captured asteroids) that was orbiting a red dwarf some thirty-four light years from the LMC home world.
Tartarus was left alone for a number of years(though mining stations and an AI controlled fuel depot were established on the moons); as no one knew exactly what it was. Until a probe was set to impact the “surface,” the majority of scientists though it was some sort of gas cloud or a new type of star. As you can imagine they were rather shocked when it disappeared but they continued to receive data; further probes confirmed that it was in fact, a wormhole. The position of the wormhole exit was unknown. Which is why the Navigator was constructed. It was designed to be a state of the art research vessel, equipped with primitive shielding and artificial gravity. The Navigator was equipped with two telescope/spectrographic lasers in turrets; not really military weapons, but they could damage another ship if the need arose.
As the Navigator neared the Event Horizon, the crew began to strap themselves into crash harnesses and vacuum suits. The warning klaxons began to blare throughout the ship as the Navigator approached the point where the drive would fire, propelling the ship into the maelstrom that lay off their bow. They reached the acceleration point, For a second nothing happened, then each crew member felt G-Force press them into their harnesses as the Navigator accelerated, entering the Event Horizon of Tartarus, murky red light poured in through the bridge windows and the ship shook lightly. They had passed through the Event Horizon and were to reach their destination in a matter of minutes and about to encounter something quite unexpected that would change the destiny of the Dominion forever.
