Emperor Mathias V released a statement today regarding the recent changes in Biotopia.

"For too long, the Biotopians have stifled the freedoms and choices of its people. By embracing capitalism now, the Biotopians are taking a step closer to having a better chance at competing with the world, both economically and militarily.

"There was a time when Biotopia threatened Mathias Prime, but due to our economic system, we were able to make the both military goods and consumer goods. It is less possible for a centralized state to do so, because they are already working with inefficient resources. That is why we trounced the Biotopians at their own game, and why we were victorious.

"My father used to sit me down and tell me the story of the war that made Mathias Prime what it is today, and how the evil Biotopians looted our capital when it was on the verge of being destroyed. He told me of how my great-grandfather stood up to the thieving nation and how we cornered them and got out possessions back.

"We were able to do that because of our prowess, both in terms of military and economic power. Now, Biotopia has taken its first step towards recovery from their inefficient system, and I have chosen to help them along the way. Dr Helen Anderson of the Celdonian Institute for Economics and Political Science today refute the statement by the ONC that Biotopia's economy was stagnating under the previous anticapitalist regime.

"It's simply not true," Dr Anderson told CBC News. "The Biotopian economy was one of the most buoyant within the CACE/IFTA trade bloc and could hold its own in comparison to any capitalist economy."

Asked what she thought the probable effects Biotopia's move towards a capitalist economy where she replied, "It's quite clear that the Biotopian economy was working very well and it managed to distribute wealth quite effectively. You had a strong economy and a fair degree of prosperity throughout the whole population. The problem now is that as the new government reforms the economy a lot of people are going to be presented with real problems. What's more worrying is that they no longer have the traditional channels for voicing their discontent open to them.

It's quite clear from our studies, which look at data collected by the UN, that as Biotopia has changed it's ideological stance civil rights and political freedoms have suffered greatly. Civil rights are now well below those previously necessary to maintain CACE membership and elections seem to have been all but banned."

Celdonia's relationship with Biotopia is a long one. Having been a colony of the former Celdonian Empire many Celdonian's retain links with Biotopia and many still reside there. Current government advice is that Celdonian nationals in biotopia should remain vigilant and pay close attention to local conditions. As of yet the government has not declared Biotopia a no-go zone but some commentators believe it is only a matter of time before Celdonian nationals are advised to leave. Despite this, many have already done so.

The HEWC refutes fully the outrageous claims of Celdonian, and encourages nations not to be swayed by the socialistic, communist propaganda that sprouts out from the ‘Ministry of Truth’ of the Celdonians.

Besides, we all know that 78% of all statistics are made up.

Our, and nations similar to us, economic superiority is evident that capital-based economies are superior. Our citizens are allowed to achieve individual success, and not be held back by the state. Through out history people have realised that our system is the right system.

We are looking forward to working with Biotopia, already several corporations have expressed a desire to establish trade links, and other commercial intercourse, which has been hitherto hampered by the foolish jingo ridden dogmatism of the doomed and ultimately self-destructive system that the CACE/IFTA stands for.

Finally we pledge military support as well. If at anytime the new, sane government of Biotopia is threatened we shall, united as trading partners, the most holy of relationships, work together to ensure the security of the country. Kerla frowns upon Biotopia asking for trade since Aperin is one of the best regions to recieve aid from. Aperin countries will always help you if you need aid.

To try capitalism will be a failure. It was a failure in Kerla and we now have a great economy. Switching to capitalism will widen the gap in the income level of all Biotopian citizens. That is not a good switch.

The Autonomous City-states have long been a shining example that capitalism and liberty go hand in hand when applied in the correct manner, as our stellar economy is matched only by our long-standing civil and political rights traditions. We hope that the Biotopians embrace political and social reform to accompany their newfound economic freedom. It is encouraging that they ask to engage in free, mutually beneficial trade... rather than asking for handouts or foreign aid.

The recent statement by HEWC should not be regarded as proven as the investigation into the bombing of the HEWC embassy has yet to begin fully. Celdonian investigators shall be examining the evidence concerning the bombing of the HEWC embassy and the bombs detonated elsewhere in the Celdonian Diplomatic Quarter.

Former Ambassador Odin, HEWC representatrive in Celdonia, is also in protective police custody and is helping police with their enqiries. The government of HEWC have issued no statement on former ambassador Odin's position.

If the Holy Empire of the Water Cooler wishes to take its lies about Caselonia, and our alleged involvement in a bombing campaign both planned and perpetrated by the HEWC, into the international arena it will not do so without consequences. The illegal detention of our citizens and their illegal interrogations have only just come to a close, with a successful return of our citizens ensured only by a threat of war!

How far will the Holy Empire attempt to take its slander, libel and outright insults and expect Caselonia to weather the storm diplomatically? Now, we are facing a situation where the HEWC is choosing to support an illegitimate government that achieved power through force, without any sort of mandate from the people, and to threaten our allies in the CACE and the IFTA.

It would do the Holy Empire well to realize that its actions are not without consequences. Caselonia stands prepared to address continued breaches of international law, and plain common sense, by the HEWC.
