Bedistan and Eauz - World Cup XVIII Hosting Bid

STADIA

Eauzian stadia:

Bedistani stadia:

MECHANICS

Number of teams:
Either 80 + hosts or 90 + hosts (73 + hosts signed up as of this writing)

Scorinator/formula:
KPB ranking points will be used. Bedistan's current idea is to use his Java-programmed scorinator, which he will hopefully release to the community prior to the start of World Cup 18. The formula will need to be modified in order to handle modern KPB values, as the current formula is nearly identical to that used in World Cup 12, when the maximum KPB score was about half what it is now.

RP Bonus:
There will be a RP bonus. Bedistan's current idea is to have it based on length, divided into seven categories ranging from "slani" to "über". I think this is best because it is the only fair, non-subjective way to do it (whoa, I didn't refer to myself in the third person there...I've been on IRC too much).

Keep checking back here for more updates.

How Will puppet entry into the cup be determined?

Whoops, didn't see that question. Sorry if you thought we were ignoring you...

We plan to allow puppet entry on a simple first-come, first-serve basis.

On another note, the Bedistani stadia have FINALLY been added! See the link in the first post.

How about quality over quantity. I mean, honestly, would you guys want to go through multiple pages of role plays that have nothing to do with voetbal sometimes, or read well put together, shorter ones. I know I dont have a whole lot of time to write long RPs. I think there is probably a better way to do this than length if you dont want to be subjective.

Quality based RP-bonus is often too biased. I mean, TEU is IMNSCO a slani RPer, but I know enough people who like its RPs. Length is an unbiased criteria, that means different hosts cannot rate an RP differently if they use the same method. I think for an RP-bonus is the minimum requirement to be unbiased.

(yes, that's how Rejis writes after too few caffeine)

You have a fair point, but as Rejis said, the bonus needs to be unbiased. And you're right, there probably is a better way. But (IMO, at least) this way is better than merely giving each post an arbitrary rating that could be subject to the bonus-awarder's mood, any pre-existing vendettas, or other stuff of that kind. Out of curiosity, what sort of ideas do you have?

And for the record, there is a counter to "Spaaming" -- over a certain point, the bonus maxes out. And also note that the bonus will not be per post, but rather per matchday, so after an "über"-length post (I'm not giving details here to prevent abuse of the system) is made, one can't circumvent the limits by just making another post that same day.

I developed the seven categories based on a random page of RPs from the World Cup 17 RP thread. Here's how that page turned out:

Slani - 0 (0.0%)
Fair - 1 (4.8%)
Average - 4 (19.0%)
Good - 5 (23.8%)
Very Good - 5 (23.8%)
Excellent - 3 (14.3%)
Über - 3 (14.3%)

So even a medium-length RP will get one into the "good" or "very good" range.
