'Boring people...boring nations...'
The Martian Duma during a seminar on the Martian economy.
'God...why are these seminars so boring!' uttered General Navarrone. His adjutant leaned in and spoke lightly 'Boring people...boring nations. Lord, I've done what you asked of me.' Navarrone nodded and glanced calmy over at his adjutant 'And it was worded exactly?' the adjutant nodded back in approval. Navarrone stood up and applauded the speech that bored him, put on by some Mangalan economist.

From the desk of Sheikh Navarrone:
"The Aumanii government has noticed the situation in Allanea and we would like to help. If you're interested, you're more than welcome to visit my office in the Warrens."

While the Aumanii delegate was dying of boredom during the seminar, high in orbit Taraskovyan ships prepared to give a fight to the 'insane' DA ships and exterminate them to the last. More deaths, violence and... fun, of course!
Just to say, Mars is a planet of sharp contrasts.

Warrens of the Duma Building, Mars
The EI, no one knew his name, at least, on Mars, weaved his way through the back halls of the building, edging closer to the office the Aumanii delegate, having spoken with the Government.
He had conveyed the message, and had recieved a reply of what type of assistance they were willing to accept. But first he was supposed to see what the Aumanii were offering.
Wearing a simple jumpsuit with the Sword and Stars on the left shoulder, he reached the door and knocked. Once he was admitted, and the pleasantries exchanged, he smiled. "You offer assistance with Allanea." He inclined his head inquisitively. "What did you have in mind?"
Sheikh had seated himself behind a large messy desk in what passed for an office. 'Im not much for subtlety so I'll tell it like it is. Romendacil and the boys have noticed the FSP has stumbled, ever so slightly, in their occupation of Allanea...I, and by extension the government, dont intend to criticise, but from the looks of it, you need more boots on the ground. The Aumanii government would like to help in anyway we can. Troops can be in Allanea by this time tomorrow, not to mention monetary support. Aumanii military assets in Allanea would be subject to the FSP's over all strategic command, all we ask is that we be allowed to administer to any particular sector we are assigned, however we deem fit. What do you say?' Navarrone leaned back in his squeaky leather chair and steepled his fingers.

The EI leaned forward, his hands resting lightly on his knees. "Well, we do appriciate the offer. But under the circumstances, including our negotiations with Greater Prussia over the situation, I think letting foreign troops on Federation soil would be premature. Surely you can understand that point of view?"
The EI smiled, very friendly. "We're more than happy to accept donations to the cause, though. We'll even let you monitor the money, to make sure it ends up funding the occupation. Further, if negotiations fail, and a war does erupt, and you were to support the Federation during the war, actively, with either military or other kinds of assistance, I am authorized to promise, as all of our allies who wanted one would recieve, an occupation zone an Allanea."
General Navarrone shrugged and leaned forward to put his elbows on the desk. 'We have connections in Greater Prussia...if League forces were to be in Allanea, well Im sure that they would perhaps calm themselves down a little. But, it is your choice. How much money will you be needing?' Sheikh took a dataslate out of his desk and threw it on the table infront of him non-chalantly.

The EI shrugged. "Whatever you're willing to give, of course. We'd never ask for more than that. If you want numbers, though, the cost of the Sec-2 Rental from Zero-One has come to about four hundred forty billion. Another quarter trillion spent on our own troops on deployment. Perhaps fifty billion in lost equipment. For a round number, it's about seven hundred fifty billion." He smiled. "But again, whatever you want to pay is up to you. You're the one giving gifts here."
Sheikh looks through a pile of papers on his desk, finally seizing one and reading it casually, he goes back to the dataslate. 'One trillion good enough?' he asked before typing it in.

The EI hid his shock quite well. "Of course. One trillion USD is fine." This short meeting had just made the occupation turn a profit. Perhap he would get promoted now.
"Anything else you wish to discuss?"
'I think it would be reasonable for us to ask if we could send a group of observers...see how the money is spent, take notes on the situation. You know, things like that.'

The EI pursed his lips, looking pensive for a moment, his calm gaze almost seeming to dim as he looked upon the Aumanii representative. He remains silent for a moment.
"That seems to be most logical, and I'm sure the Government will agree. How many observers are we talking about here?"
'Well, in order to gauge the situation fully I'd say at least one hundred and fifty...'

The EI fell completely silent for a long moment, in fact, long enough that the Aumanii man might have thought it had died there in his office, its power gone from it.
Then expression returned to its face, and the EI smiled. "That would be acceptable."
'Excellent, where should the teams report to? We can have about twenty of our observers ready to go by tomorrow.'

The EI's reply was much quicker this time. "Well, if these observers are on Mars, have them report in Neo-Griffin by maglev. If they're on Earth, have them come in through the Griffin International Transportation Hub. If they're coming in together, we can meet them easier, or we can detail people to meet each one and get them all together if they're coming in seperately. We'll fly them into Allanea, since it is an NFZ for non-Federation aerospace craft at the moment."
'Sounds good to me. I'll pass down the information. I think this is all the business we had in mind.' Sheikh stood up and extended a hand to the EI.

The EI rose fluidly, nodding. "Very well. Arrangements will be made at home." He extended his hand to shake, palming a small datachip off to the Aumanii delegate in the process. "That chip includes the proper diplomatic encrypts that should allow you to contact the Government directly." He smiles. "I suppose I'll see you at the next boring meeting, eh?"
'Probably not. Im done here...filed for a transfer a few weeks ago. This isn't the work for me. Im a warrior, not a diplomat.'

The EI chuckled. "Boredom. Such a fluid thing. I myself find entertainment by creating functions of the voice patterns and the movements of the people in the rooms. It keeps me from being bored at least." Smiling, he nodded, and said, "Well, until we meet again, perhaps." He left the room, returning the main chambers to spin numbers once again.
