Opening the Arms of Repentance (Attn: Vrak)

Anna Frateli looked over the transfer report. Quite a bit of cash was leaving the domain, but all in the sake of fairness and freindship. Well, freindship was a little to much of a term, more truthfully it was repentance. But then again, maybe friendship was what it required. She signed the transfer order, and handed it off.

"Ya know, you should meet with them. I mean, that was Fortier's problem. He never met with anyone, only wanted to kill them. No sense of diplomacy or relations. Well, mostly gun boat, but that was him. Of course, its your call," commented Father Domingo Chavez.

Frateli nodded. She tossed the idea around in her head, before speaking. "Why dont you call up John, he was always good with this stuff. Pay for his ticket and all, and get whomever is supposed to come from Vrak over." Despite the fact that she was about to go toe to toe with Ma-Tekian military forces, diplomacy always had a time and place, or at least her Foriegn Affairs professor in College had said.
______

To whom it may concern,

With the recent conflict our two nations avoided, I believe it would be in teh best intrest of both parties for us to meet in a peacefull way. I think that our two nations would be off quite well together. I have set aside a block of time that I will be open, and willing to meet in Northampton, the diplomatic center of Imitora. I would scincerly like to meet in time, and hope that you can accept this invitation. With great respect and reverence,

First Speaker Anna Frateli

Orith Hagwonak read the communique from the Imitorian government carefully. The Imitorians did make good on their word in paying the reperations demanded by the Dyellians, which was a positive sign. As he reached for his whiskey (the non-sentient variety) an aide knocked on his door.

-Come in.
-Ambassador, I have the latest newsbrief regarding Imitora. It seems that the ICEL has launched a defensive war against the nation of Imitora.
-Hmmm. This could put a damper on things. Luckily I wasn't quite ready to go yet.
-Yes, Ambassador. The Head of the Diplomatic Corps has issued a cautionary warning to all diplomatic staff travelling to Imitora.
-Indeed. Well, I shall have to alter my plans then. You are dismissed.

To: First Speaker Anna Frateli
From: Vrak Diplomatic Corps - Ambassador Orith Hagwonak, 1st class
Subject: Possible meeting

We have learned that the ICEL have recently declared a "defensive" war against your nation. As a precautionary measure, we don't think it would be wise to physically visit your nation at this time, however, if we can continue the dialogue we would like to do so.

We are receptive to you sending a small delegation to Vrak, if at all possible. Rest assured, that upon reaching our shores you will be under our protection.

edit: I forgot to add this earlier. I suppose if you want to send someone out of your country you would have to let Ma-tek know about it. Does he know about this thread?

The modified two seater F-82E screamed past the Ma-Tekian craft, full burn, and once clear, pulled back. On board was First Speaker Anna Frateli. She didn't trust anyone else to this mission. Of course, her ISS contigent was none to happy about her going alone, so they armed her, and gave her a crash course in the use of, a UMAC made Sig P226. But she trusted the Vrakians.

After four hours of flight, the craft entered Vrakian airspace, and alerted the proper authorities they were there.

OOC: Sorry for teh cruddy post, but I've been reading Plato since about five this morning, and I really need a nap. I'll be back on around 6:30/7:00ish CMT.

OOC: Heh, it's okay. I've been fighting a cold myself the last few days.

IC:

After receiving the necessary clearances, the plane was directed to a nearby military airbase outside the capital. In truth, some Vrakians would have liked to have shot that plane out of the sky since, well, wasn't it the same Imitora that killed 600 Dyellians during the Tersanctus incursion? As usual, cooler heads prevailed since the visitors did deign to pay reperations and seemed eager to start afresh.

As the plane taxied to its designated area and rolled to a stop, two Grodniks followed by a heavily-armoured limosuine met the Imitorians. Out of the limo stepped a balding, 50ish man wearing a dark suit. He dons his glasses and takes a final look at the scant intel dossier about their guest, then hands it to his aide.

The entire affair is low key, not because of the status of the visitor, but because it was deemed less of a security risk to draw attention to themselves - especially from above.

Anna departed the plane, and climbed down the ladder to the ground. She walked over to the representative, hand extended. "First Speaker Anna Frateli, pleasure to meet you." The pilot descneded, but stayed near the aircraft. She nodded to him, and he stayed behind.

“Welcome to our humble lands, First Speaker,” began the balding man and shook her hand, “I apologize for the low key reception. In truth, our military is keeping an eye over our airspace due to you current…differences with the ICEL. Shall we?”

He gestured to the waiting limousine. The rear door was smoothly opened by a smiling man in a tuxedo. The small contingent of King’s Own (OOC: Vrakian special ops) relaxed a bit once the Imitorian was safely in the car and then the small convoy began to head towards the city.

The pilot was escorted to a barracks and provided with a small room on the base with access to the usual facilities, if required. Meanwhile, the plane itself was towed to a hanger where it was put under guard and out of prying eyes.

OOC: Vrak itself is kind of a barren land, but the capital, Vrak Prime, is bustling and quite large (20 million plus). Most structures are large domes but there are also the usual type of skyscrapers. Anna will perhaps notice some damaged buildings and other similar types of devastation - although not in great amounts. This was due to the horrific Dozle war. She will also notice immense construction efforts also at work.

Anna nodded. "Yes, low key is sometimes the best key for opening doors." She slid into the limmo, and as the driver began to drive, she looked around. There was large amounts of construction, and in someplaces buildings looked damaged. The most astounding features weren't teh sky scrapers though, but domes. She had never seen domed buildings like this in cities, save for in movies. It reminded her, slightly, of downtown Northampton. She smiled inwardly at the thought of home, and hoped to God that Bernetti knew what the hell he was doing.

"So, may I ask whom I'll be speaking with?" she inquired of the man politely.

The Dyelli Beybians had been monitoring the situation, for a start they found it unusual that the Imitorans had approached the Vrakians, and having heard no word from them as of yet. The Dyellians, never the world's most trusting Government, had decided it was best that the envoy in Vrak Prime be monitored.

In theory, there was no need for a diplomatic envoy to Vrak, but as the country Dyelli Beybi shared the greatest length of land border with, it had a significant interest in Vrak. As such Vrak Prime housed a small Office with 3 Commisaars and a detective from Benjia Yark, supposedly there for the purposes of interstate criminal searches.

And to them had fallen the unenviable task of working out what was going on in Vrak at the moment.

The balding man replied as the limo neared the heart of the city.

"Ah, yes. You will speak with our External Affairs Minister. I will be your guide. I forgot to mention my name earlier. I am Troy Oio, Protocol Officer 1st class. I should add that since Vrak is but one state in the FKC, any type of far ranging agreement would have to be taken up with the FKC parliament for deliberation."

OOC: Sorry for the rushed post.

Anna nodded. "Understandable Mr. Oio, the workings of buerocracy are always the underpinnings of a working government," or so she had been told by her internal affairs professor. It was times lke these she wish she hadn't been the first in the office after Fortier had been shot. And she new teh INSA was not fond of her, and had no problem letting it be known that she was just an intern who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Protocol Officer Oio nodded back and said,

“Ah, yes. I’m a big believer in the inner workings of government. How it works. Why this is the way it is. Can it be made more efficient, and so on. Alas, I fear that our own government is a bit unweildy at times and therefore the King has to issue decrees to get things moving”

He drew his face slightly closer.

“Us Vrakians are a bureaucratic-minded people. Sometimes to the nth degree.”

A chuckle. The driver then barked a word in Vrakian.

“Here we are,” said Oio, “At the Minister of External Affairs office. Just a reminder, the walrus folk do not shake hands or flippers, but prefer to bow. Out we go.”

The Protocol officer exited first after the driver opened the door. He then smiled to the First Speaker and offered his hand. With his other hand, he waved to the large walrus flanked by two King’s Own near the imposing doorway. In a loud voice, he said,

“Minister of External Affairs, Duke Kirl Pyut, may I present to you First Speaker Anna Frateli of the lands of Imitora.”

The building that framed the door itself was a large rock dome. The party appeared to be within a courtyard of some type, since massive walls could be seen around the perimeter.
