Total Communications Blackout

Those observing Aerion, or having embassies there would know the following:

Approximately around midnight, the telecommunications grid of Aerion shut down. All communications into or out of the country were cut off. News, radio, cellular, everything. Advanced radars might pick up that air traffic, other than military, has been grounded. All air traffic attempting to enter Aerion airspace have been instructed to leave, and all those who were in route to an Aerion airport have been escorted out by Royal Airforce aircraft. All borders of Aerion have been closed, and the guards at these borders will not speak to any one but simply turn them away.

(For those with embassies)
Embassies with satellite communications ability would get out that diplomatic personnel have been instructed to remain within their embassies or official diplomatic residences, and Royal Marines have been stationed at each embassy to "secure the embassy, and keep people out"..though it is more likely to keep people in. Those diplomatic personnel wishing to leave the country have been instructed that they may do so with the escort of the Royal Army, and their aircraft will be escorted out by the Royal Air Force.

- Are they still there?

- They sure are...

The diplomat looked out of the window of the 5th floor of a five storey building that served as Federal Embassy and shook his head. Outside of the fence that circled the yard around the Embassy, stood the local military, keeping guard at every exit. Fleeing was impossible.

Up on the roof, a pair of Foreign Protectors followed the devellopements below as their colleagues fortified the Embassie's entrances, backdoors, etc.
'Just in case of'.

Official Note by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Authorities of Aerion.
The Taraskovyan Federation demands explanations on the status of its personnel in the Kingdom, as well as the reasons for the confining to the Embassy and their residences. The Federal Governement and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs voice their concern on the recent events and ask that the local authorities provide sufficient information.
The Federal Governement also warns that any agressive acts perpetrated against the diplomatic personnel will cause severe damages to the relations between the Federation and the Kingdom of Aerion.

There was as of yet no official statement coming from the Royal Government, as the lockdown continued. It would appear that the Royal Airforce has scrambled numerous squadrons, which are now patrolling the borders of the nation.

Willi Strausser, detective for the Buechorian Kripo, had been enjoying his leave in Aerion for the past two days. At his hotel room, he was reading a book in bed, then the light fluttered and shut off. Reaching for the phone, he realized it was probably wasn't working either.

"This vacation is going straight to hell.." he said to himself as he searched for some clothes...

From what could be reported so far, a state of heightened alert has been ordered throughout Aerion. The Royal Army is out in numbers, citizens have been instructed to remain in their homes. The security teams of the megacorporations (more like private armies) in Aerion have been brought out in full force. It would seem the alert state within Aerion has been raised to Defcon 4, and the security level has been heightened. To those within the embassies of the Royal District would see only what is going on within the walled Royal District, but there would be an increased presence of Royal Guard on the streets, and patrols of the Royal Army. Citizens would appear to be staying within their homes, and the normally busy streets filled with the cars of the elite would appear to be mostly empty other than military or government vehicles.

As the a communications blackout is still in effect, it is difficult to assess the situation so far other than what satellite imagery might provide.

HFIA HQ: Severnaya

Intelligence Commisar Montov and his group of 20 listened through messages going into and out of Aerion. The front wall of the room seemed to be made of monitors, which it basically was.

They were showing feeds from satellites, some currently watching Aerion. Aerion had been the focus of some of the HFIA's attention ever since they had found out about a leftist resistance group within the country.

The room, which was buzzing with the radio transmissions, suddenly became quiet. The operators looked around at each other in confusion. Montov stood up and ran off towards the Director's Office...

The only peculiar thing the monitors showed was the large amounts of military units that could be seen moving within the country...

He pulled open the door to the Director's office and said,

Director Morozov, for some reason or another, all communications from Aerion have ceased completely..."

Morozov arched his brows and looked back at Montov, "Really? Well, keep an eye on it, there isn't much we can do right now..."

This is Channel 1 with a special report:

"The international airport in our capital city, Wuppertal, is in total chaos. For unknown reasons, all flights to Aerion have been cancelled. No plane is allowed to enter the airspace above the country. Those flights that are on their way right now have been redirected to the neighbouring nations. As authorities tried to contact the Aeronian government, nothing happened. It almost seems as if the telephone system is not working either. At the moment, nobody has an explanation for why Aerion appears to be isolated from the world. Things are chaotic and no decision can be made as how to handle the situation. Secretary of Urban Development Ziegler says it is 'technical problems'.
We will update you on the situation as it develops.

The lockdown remained in effect, with the patrols of jets continuing along the borders to keep other aircraft out, and patrols of soldiers on the ground to keep people out from there.

Further intelligence reports may not be assessed, though it appears a state equivalent to martial law has been imposed upon Aerion.

LOCKDOWN ENDED

The lockdown has ended, and normal allowances continued as quickly as it had begun. An official statement by the Office of the Lord High Chancellor has been issued,

"The series of events that took place in the past few days were solely a matter of internal security. Due to further internal security matters, this Office may not issue a reason as to why this lockdown occured. All citizens are encouraged to return to their routine daily business."
