Greetings fellow and rival nations!
After a long period of isolationist policies following the pre-historical conquering of other nations of our continent, The Borderlands of Slaughternia feels that it is prepared to enter the world scene. Our scribes and historians are currently working on compiling an official government sanctioned report on the history and current status of our great nation. This will be released to other countries following approval of myself.
Thank you for your time,
Lord Mutilo of the Borderlands of Slaughternia
Welcome, Slaughternia. Such a report should no doubt be an interesting read. We are interested in finding out about all nations, especially those emerging or reemerging into the world, such as ourselves. If you need aid that is within our presently limited capability, do not fear to ask.

The Borderlands of Slaughternia
GEOGRAPHY:
About 100 kilometers of the coast of Antarctica lay a mist shrouded continent of roughly 3,000,000 square kilometers. Most parts of the continent are covered in as much ice as its larger neighbor, but there are large oases of “warm spots” scattered over the land. These oases are caused by intricate networks of naturally carved underground caverns which terminate on the surface in the form of steam geysers. This natural heating system brings continental temperatures in the oasis areas to habitable levels. The heat that spreads out from these oases to other parts of the continent cause a slight melting of surface level ice which results in the perpetual misty blanket over the land. Inhabitants refer to their region as Icy Whispers of Suffocation.
The Borderlands of Slaughternia are situated from a few degrees West of the center of the continent stretching to the coast closest to Australia for a total size of 783,865 square kilometers. Apart from the coastal side, it is completely surrounded by the Shyraksyth Mountains, a range nearly impassable without the aid of either modern technology or an extremely prodigious mountain climber. The oases of the interior of the nation are somewhat concentrated so there is ample space for the population to live comfortably as well as room for protected nature preserves to flourish. Snow Wyrm river runs in a spiral shape from Lake Crimson in the center of the nation to the coastal waters. It is the only known river in the world of its shape.
FLORA & FAUNA:
Other than a variety of fish, other aquatic life which live under the ice in isolated lakes and rivers, and slaughterer penguins (a species of penguin unique to the continent) there is no life present in the non-warmed areas of the continent. In oasis areas, a variety of native wildlife flourishes including the aforementioned penguins, whose most distinguishing characteristic from other species is their glowing red eyes, common seals and walruses, cannibus sativa, black roselilies, and bloodvines (known for the intoxicating drink which can be made from them).
PEOPLE:
The people of Slaughternia are of a unique stock. Skin color is typically a light shade of blue-ish peach complemented with fiery red hair. The average height of a Slaughternian male is 6 feet and 3 inches, for a female: 5 feet and 7 inches. These outward appearances seem to reflect the inner character of the culture.
Slaughternians are cool, calm, and reflective in their pursuit of knowledge in all of its forms. At the same time, when roused to battle, whether it be personal or on a grand scale such as war, their passions blaze with a fire hot enough to incinerate anyone who dare stand in their path.
Slaughternians have a very strong cultural identity and seek to preserve old traditions at any cost.
GOVERNMENT:
The head of all branches of government in Slaughternia is an eternal figure known as Lord Mutilo. His word is the final authority in all legal and governmental decisions. There is a court of advisors and boqors (ministers) to Lord Mutilo, including the High Exottach (priest) of the state church. The boqors are each invested with powers in their specified areas of government, but must always answer to Lord Mutilo’s whims. Even in a nation of such wisdom and intelligence as Slaughternia, the average citizen is not deemed worthy of possessing any political power; it is in fact shocking to Slaughternians that many other countries, of much more dotterel intelligence actually allow its populace to participate in the running of the country! In Slaughternia voting is wisely illegal and there are no elections of any sort. All government positions are appointed by a higher up position.
RELIGION:
Religion is an extremely important aspect of all Slaughternians lives. The nation is tolerant and respective of all beliefs and encourages exploration of all metaphysical ideas. However, only one religion is upheld by the government as the true faith. The Sqiirq of Asmovenom is the state church (sqiirq being the ancient Slaughtaerean word for church). Not much information about the religions beliefs and practically none concerning its actual practices and rituals are available for outsiders, however it can be let known that a fundamental tenant of the belief structure is that there is a hierarchy of deities, the chief of whom is named Asmovenom, and that Slaughternians were descended from an ancient race of esoteric penguins. The High Exottach is considered to be the leader of the church, although he still is subservient to Lord Mutilo, even in spiritual affairs.
MILITARY:
The Borderlands of Slaughternia commands a standard army, air force, and a navy. There is also an elite force named the Ice Legions who are the cream of the crop in warfare and can hold their own against any foreign army, air force, or navy. Each branch of the military has a Chief General who answers only to Lord Mutilo himself. Other aspects of how the military is run cannot be divulged at this time.
RESOURCES AND COMMERCE:
The Borderlands of Slaughternia have potential access to all of the resources necessary for the nation’s growth and survival, however some of these resources cannot be tapped due to the preservation of natural lands in the country. Some of the resources that we have an excess of and are willing to trade with other nations are cannibus, iron, uranium, and the bloodvine (which makes a very good wine and its wood almost as durable as steel when properly treated). Despite strict policies in general against free marketing, the government overlooks a booming black market arms trade. Lord Mutilo feels that this black market is in the spirit of the culture’s ancient warfaring tradition.
Our scribes should have completed a history of our glorious nation soon, which will be promptly released.
